    N
iyol had returned to the Silent Glaciers off a whim, a desire to return to the spot he'd obtained his first and only child, as well as learned more about nature. However, he'd noticed that the land had changed slightly. Where his single hut had rested, a small village had replaced it. Off in the distance he saw a group of figurs moving in and out of a large hole with wheel barrows. 'This is new...' he thought to himself, not being used to seeing things change so quickly. He angled his wings, causing him to begin his descent to check out the town.

A good ten or twenty meters from the village's floor, Niyol began circling around. The people inside paid him no heed, probably had better things to do. After seeing they were peaceful, or seemingly peaceful, Niyol decided to land. Slowing his speed while getting closer to the ground, Niyol noticed the town's folk beginning to gather where he was landing. Touching the ground, the people looked at the large man who wore a tan, tattered cloak and no shoes as though he were a kind wearing the finest silk robes. They welcomed him as a savior, knowing that he would be their salvation from a threat that drew near.

"Hold outlanders." Niyol said in a deep, commanding voice causing the celebration to halt abruptly. "To what honor am I given to cause such quantities of glee?" he asked, questioning the situation. A few moments later, a rather well aged man walked through the crowd and addressed him. "We can tell you're a wizard. For the longest time, we've been being attacked by the Frost Giants. We sent notices to the guilds asking for help, we'll pay half now and half when you're done. Just please, get rid of them so our little mining town can finish our business and leave." the older man said. Niyol didn't know what he was talking about, after all he wasn't bound by the laws of any alignment. The village needed help, and his presence made them feel hopeful, so Niyol couldn't turn them down.

    When one door closes...
    Giants of the North {Job: Niyol/Lynn/Squiggles} Ot14fBI

Pulling the the crimson hood of her cloak over her head, Namine continued walking behind the strange woman she'd met at the guild hall. The woman was fairly tall compared to her. She had cyan hair that was held up in pigtails. She walked strong, with more confidence than Namine who was straggling behind a bit, keeping her eyes on the snow while keeping herself hidden under her cloak. A massive gust of frigid air brushed past her, grabbing her hood and forcing it off her head to reveal a gently curved face adorned with a pair of crimson eyes places just under a crown of short, black hair. Soft, moist lips had parted as though her first words were about to be said, perhaps a show of astonishment at mother nature's urge to reveal Namine's face? No, the action was changed to a saddened expression that ended with the young woman reverting to a disheartened expression as she pulled her hood back over her head, once again masking all she was.

Namine thought back to why she was here, exactly how she ended up going on an excursion through the Silent Glaciers. It started in the guild master's office where Namine had been called to. She had been escorted from the main hall where she sat in the same spot for over a week to there by a rather large beast with a scar running down the side of its face. There was a pair of men waiting for her in the office, both considerably stronger than Namine which caused her to want to stay at the door instead of approaching either. The one whom she'd met before was courteous in welcoming her to the room, and kind in inviting her in. She was hesitant but she allowed herself to move forward a single step... just one, and no further. While talking with the two, Namine was trying to make herself appear as small as possible. She didn't make eye contact, she kept her hands under her cloak and held herself while hoping that she wasn't about to suddenly be killed for loitering not that she knew what that was. In the end, the master had assigned her to accompany this woman... the one he called 'Lynn' to go to the Silent Glaciers and help one of the local villages with a minor issue they were having.

Post by Fair 3rd June 2016, 12:42 pm

Lynn wasn’t all that prepared for the job that she was assigned to. Something happening at a village at the Silent Glaciers. She thought she had been there a very long time ago, but in reality she hadn’t. Also, she wasn’t alone in this mission. She was supposed to go with one of her guildmates, someone she barely knew. Actually, she didn’t know this person at all. Her name was something like Nami, but yeah she really didn’t know who it was so she would find out sooner or later. But that wasn’t it. They were supposed to be accompanied by another mage from another guild, if she received the information correctly. So Lynn clothed herself in quite warm clothes as they were going to be travelling to a cold place. She didn’t have anything for Zlatan to wear in case he got cold, but she was pretty sure his coat of fur was thick enough to keep him warm from the cold. As soon as she got out of her room and entered the guildhall, she had a crawling feeling, like something was pulling her shirt, but of course nothing was pulling her shirt, it was just a feeling. The further she walked, the harder it felt like she was being pulled. A while later she couldn’t stand it anymore, so she turned and checked if there was anything actually pulling her shirt, and to her surprise she noticed a small girl following her, wearing a hooded cape like thing. She must have been the Nami girl, so Lynn didn’t bother asking anymore. “Oh, good that you’re already here,” she said and continued on her way. If it was indeed the Nami girl then she didn’t have to worry about losing her because this girl looked like she would follow Lynn to her toilet and watch her do her business until she got up and had somewhere else to go, to which she would follow as well.

I’ve got my ride, what about you?” Lynn asked, not really expecting an answer as she mounted her winged lion. She patted the space on Zlatan’s back behind her saying, “If you don’t have a ride then you can join me.” If the girl got on behind her, great. But if she didn’t, then that meant she knew her way so Lynn didn’t care and would just order Zlatan to begin their journey. The journey wasn’t that far, seeing how Zlatan had traveled much further places. This was one of the unfamiliar places though. Lynn arrived much faster than she expected since Zlatan was flying at a normal speed and not at his fastest. She dismounted the winged lion and decided to walk all the way to the village since she wasn’t sure how the villagers were going to react to a giant flying lion. Once she arrived at the entrance of the village, she was greeted with the scene of a group of villagers gathered with a man who looked out of place in the middle. She could already tell who was who, which made things so much easier for her. “You must be the mage from another guild? I’m Lynn and this is Nami. We’re both from Sabertooth,” she said, pointing at the small girl too assuming she followed her and was right behind her now as well.

    A
feminine voice called out to Niyol as he stood amongst the villagers. 'You must be the mage from another guild? I’m Lynn and this is Nami. We’re both from Sabertooth.' it said, addressing the death mage as though he were one of her allies. Standing shirtless, white bandages with flecks of snow adorning it wrapped around his bare torso so tightly that the curvature of his well developed abdomen, toned by life and polished by pain, was able to show through. Many scars decorated the man's upper body, the exposed pecs had seen much fighting, and bore witness to many deaths. Dark purple, dead hues turned and locked on the tall woman, narrowing on her with a demonic mark burned into the flesh of the cheek under the left one, glowing with a slightly crimson aura. This same aura was seen running down the right arm, spiraling around it. A type of tattoo on his left arm, white as the snow around him with not a single cut on it despite the area surrounding the mark having a large cut that should have continued through the mark.

Niyol saw the smaller shape behind her attempting to hide under a cloak clad in crimson. He turned his gaze towards the one who had addressed him. "I have no business with you, I merely came to visit the birthplace of a friend... If it is another mage you seek, I passed a corpse some time ago. It appeared that the wolves had made a meal of him." While his words were very blunt, they lacked emotion entirely. There wasn't a single sign of harshness in his tone, at the same time, there wasn't any sorrow or remorse for having said the wizard... the one named 'Lynn' was originally looking for.

"If she's from a guild then she must be replying to our notices... I'm sure you can handle yourself, but maybe you should work with them." "I have not agreed to aid your cause." Niyol said with a slightly harsh tone. "You wouldn't let a couple of ladies go on their own out here w-" "They came of their own accord, they can die of their own accord." "But what about that smaller one? She hardly seems like she's up to do anything... She's hardly a woman yet, you wouldn't be so cold as to let a child die surely??"

Niyol glanced at the small one wearing the red cloak, a crimson hood covering her head. It was one thing he could never allow... the concept of letting something die before it had a chance to live... before it could truly live a life, before it could fall in love, before it could have its heart broken, find happiness and then experience despair... such a thing was something Niyol did not enjoy causing, but he also despised allowing. He let out a sigh "Very well, I shall take the place of your dead comrade." he said with an moderately annoyed tone. "Hana, we've got work to do." A pillar of green and white fire erupted next to Niyol, showing a rather young looking girl when it disappeared. She had a friendly smile on her face and looked up at Lynn with large, brown eyes.

    When one door closes...

Namine began feeling uncomfortable as the woman had turned to her, backing up and beginning to shiver under her cloak. Her heart began pounding as the fear set in, the fear that this person was someone she should avoid... the fear that this person may try to kill her. She clasped her hands over her heart under the cloak, shutting her eyes tight while pointing her nose to the ground in an attempt to force herself not to run away. She said it was good that Namine was there, but Namine wanted to ask why she thought that. She wanted to ask where 'here' was since she honestly had no idea. She wanted to ask something, or say something instead of being so afraid of the taller woman. The woman turned around and continued walking, Namine's only response was to weakly reach out and stop with her arm half extended. Her mouth was open as though she actually planned to talk, but not a single word came out... her partner getting farther away, Namine put her hand back under her cloak and began walking behind her.

Once they were outside, Namine had noticed a large creature with white fur adorning its neck, and a pair of large, feathered, bird like wings mounted on its back. The woman had gotten on it so readily, asking Namine if she had her own ride there, but she didn't know where 'there' was... hell she didn't know where 'here' was. She slowly approached it, hesitantly reaching a hand out... shaking as she got closer and then turning her head away while shutting her eyes as tight as possible while finally touching it. Seeing as she still had her hand attached, Namine then kept her eyes shut while hesitantly reaching with the other hand to the side of the large creature. She opened and eyes and slid it over to the edge of the saddle Lynn had on its back, using it to help her get to the top of the two meter tall flying predator.

It was abrupt, Lynn telling the creature to get them to the Silent Glaciers. The sudden jerk had made Namine grip the back of Lynn's top as hard as possible while planting her face in her back. While flying, Namine never once opened her eyes... only kept her face pressed to Lynn's back while tears flowed down her cheeks from how terrified she was. When they had landed, she slid straight off the creature, landing on her side and slowly forcing herself to get up. She made haste to put some distance between 'Zlatan' and herself.

The other person had walked in front for the remaining distance to their job's location, Namine staying far behind her, a minimum of four meters distance to be exact. They had arrived to see a rather rough looking man. While he didn't look like a lumberjack, he did look like he's seen better days... though with the amount of scars on him, maybe not? Namine saw the man looking at him again and immediately backed away, looking down and making sure to not draw attention to herself. Some girl appeared out of a pillar of oddly colored flames, perhaps augmented by using an alternate fuel source? Namine wouldn't know whether or not a different fuel changed the color of flames, she had never read a book about fire... she had never read a book, she didn't know how. The girl didn't look at her, so Namine didn't feel like running away even more than she already did.

Post by Fair 10th June 2016, 12:35 pm

Lynn was very much surprised by the male’s reaction and response to her. "What the fuck do you mean by that?" she actually said, enraged to a certain extent. He had this hostile vibe about him that she responded to with an equally hostile look. No one talked to Lynn like that. No one. And if they did, they were usually her enemies. It wasn't the fact that he was being cold to her, but the fact that he was acting and speaking as if Lynn wasn't worthy of his respect. That didn't roll too well with Lynn. Then the people from the village started to speak up, to which Lynn turned and listened. He spoke like he didn't give a shit, which was obvious by now. He didn't care if they were women, and the smaller one probably a child..? Lynn took a quick glance at her guildmate then look back at the villagers and the brown haired man. The part about the small one that the villagers said seemed to have brought out a soft side of this man. He agreed then, to replace their 'dead comrade'. Lynn raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, like, I didn't even know his name."

The ice dragon slayer now began to think of a plan for the job itself. "I take it you aren't a big fan of speaking? So I'll do it instead," she told her little hooded guildmate. She resembled Little Red Riding Hood from the old tales Lynn was so tempted to call her that but wasn't sure if she liked it or not, but hey maybe she should try it when she got the chance to see how friendly this guildmate of hers was. Now she turned to the hostile man, realising he hadn't introduced himself. "It would be nice if you provided us with a term to address you even if you don't want to give us your name," she said. The reason she was being like that because she thought Niyol was being unnecessarily rude. If he talked nicely, she wouldn't be acting this way. "I have a plan. Do you wanna hear it out? Or do you wanna share yours if you already have one?" she continued to ask.

    I
t was brought to Niyol's attention that he actually did forget to introduce himself, a mistake he seldom made but evidently had made in this instance. He paused in his tracks and looked at the two other females, momentarily wondering why it was that he seemed to be working with more females than males... Niyol wasn't the sort of person who screamed 'come ladies, my body is waiting' if anything, he icy glare screamed for anyone with a soul to stay the hell away from him... But for some off reason he had worked with an immense amount of rather beautiful women recently, much to his pleasure they were all very much able to handle themselves in combat... Niyol closed his eyes, taking in a small breath of air before calmly exhaling it. "My apologies for my irritation with you, I had merely come to this place to pay respects to one of my daughters who passed... only to find her birthplace was taken over by settlers. I am Niyol, the Guardian of Souls." he said with a calm, emotionless, but humble tone before giving a kind bow.

Hana had been behind Niyol for the short walk and stepped out with a bright smile. "I'm Hana, Hana Lich. The Guardian of Solar Flame, but you can just call me Hana!" she said energetically, giving a friendly smile towards the others and a quick bow. Niyol gently patted her head, giving a gentler look to her than he did towards Lynn. His eyes then turned to the smaller female in the group, the one covered in a crimson cloak and narrowing in on her for a moment before turning back to Lynn. "I hadn't planned on taking up a task today, so I'm afraid I had no time to plan for the task itself. Please, let us hear your plan."

    When one door closes...

Namine noticed people looking at her, her immediate response was to back up and look down, allowing her hood to droop further over her head as she tried to look as small as physically possible. She shivered in place despite not feeling cold at all, but feeling the tingle of people staring at her ease off she looked up only to see the people going back and forth about something she didn't understand. She heard talk of death, but understood nothing about it... Namine was told she would die if she didn't eat food, she would die if she didn't drink water, she would die if she didn't remember to breathe, she would die if she tried breathing under water... all of these were empty statements to her, but were told to her as though it was a bad thing to die... something she should be afraid even though she didn't understand fear at all either...

Suddenly the large man was looking at her again and she immediately clammed up, stepping further back and forcing herself to not run. She didn't like when he looked at her, when anyone looked at her... she was afraid of them all, these people she didn't know... She began shaking as he looked at her still, getting ready to run to Lynn and use her as a human shield if Niyol continued, but soon enough he stopped. A pillar of flame erupted near him causing Namine to hit the floor in the fetal position while staying upright, her arms wrapped around her knees as she shook violently, forcing the tears to stay back. It was the only response she could think of when something terrifying like that.

The group started moving and Namine looked to see Lynn leaving. Not wanting to be left with random people, she started moving after her, slipping on the snow but catching herself and quickly getting to her feet, speeding up to stay somewhat close to Lynn, but also keep a safe-ish distance... The group had paused once more, Lynn saying that she would do the talking since Namine didn't exactly show signs of wanting to, something Namine had no intentions of opposing. The man introduced himself in a less threatening manner than before, and the girl seemed to be a high spirited sort, but Namine made sure to keep Lynn between herself and them nonetheless. She didn't trust them, and likely never would.

Lynn smiled slightly when the stranger introduced himself, rather politely this time. His name was 'Niyol' and he was supposedly the Guardian of Souls, which made her wonder what exactly that meant. Was he a guardian of all souls? Including hers? "There, that wasn't so difficult," she chuckled, then another...being of sorts came to existence next to him, introducing itself as well. Apparently it turned out to be a girl, so she wasn't such a strange being after all. "Good to have you, Hana," Lynn said quickly. She realised that her guildmate was getting a bit scared. No, more like really scared with the events unfolding around her. She wanted to tell her something, but she didn't want this total stranger to think people from her guild were weak and needed words of comfort or anything like that. She herself was a strong, independent woman which she worked hard to become, and she wanted her guildmates to be like that as well.

"So my plan is that we should have sort of like someone to stay back at the village to look after the villagers in case the enemies came from the wrong direction. While two of us goes after them. Does that sound alright?" Lynn said. She wasn't sure where the enemies were, since it was not part of the job description. She then looked from Niyol to her guildmate. "And I think the most suitable one to be left at the village would be her, seeing how she is the smallest of us and she will have the villagers to help her defend the village," she pointed out, placing her hand gently on the small girl. It wasn't like she was underestimating her because she was small. Lynn saw potential in her, and she knew the villagers couldn't do shit.

he woman's tone seemed a bit friendlier after Niyol had introduced himself properly, and her plan seemed logical enough. While Niyol truly didn't want to work with this person, only go pay his respects and be done with this place, he didn't particularly feel like letting the younger looking of the two possibly die. His dark purple eyes narrowed in on her, the one in the cloak, and he examined her posture. She definitely didn't look like she was up for fighting, and Niyol couldn't see the others in the village being much better off with her present. At the same time, the other female didn't seem like the type to take too kindly to Niyol exposing the weakness of her comrades. "Hana." Niyol said with a stern voice, the young girl snapping around and meeting him with an inquisitive look. Normally Niyol gave her orders using his telepathy, so it was strange that he would actively call her to his attention.

"I want you to stay at the village with the cloaked one. Guard her back, she more than likely can handle herself but I won't leave it to chance." he said with a commanding tone, the kind you'd hear from a leader who was not only competent, but also confident in their abilities. Hana however was always in sync with Niyol. She knew that he had little to no faith in the girl in the crimson cloak, whose name no one had yet to reveal, and she was expecting to be the front line fighter while the other one shivered in a corner. Regardless, Hana Lich nodded and turned a soft gaze to the girl in the cloak.

Namine didn't know what it was like to be scared of everyone. She was pampered in her home tribe, the advantages of being a Guardian was that you were adored. No one tried to harm her, and everyone wanted her to come over to their homes. She was powerful, so no children dared test her patience, and overall, she was the top dog... The tribe's chief gave the orders, and she obeyed them, but she always felt like she could tear the chief in half due to how much praise she'd been given just for being the designated Guardian of Solar Flames...

This changed however when she saw a gap in skill that was like earthland and sky... Directly challenging Niyol and then getting annihilated in a single hit, only to get further hurt when he decided to drive the message home while simultaneously removing several teeth, Hana had learned just how weak she was. Niyol's people were considered the weakest of the tribes, but she had lost after a single punch from the man...

In the end, Hana did know what it was like for Namine. After losing to Niyol, she wanted guidance but was too afraid to approach Niyol. It took weeks of being around him before he showed signs of being a warmhearted man, and weeks after that before she began feeling comfortable around him. Hana ran over and grabbed Namine's hands from under the cloak, speaking with a very upbeat tone saying "Common, we got a job to do!" while smiling brightly and pulling her playfully back to the village.

Niyol drew the sword from the left side of his waist and said "Let's go." with a calm, emotionless tone. The shadow looming on the ground behind him, rather than showing a sword, had a scythe in Niyol's hands as he began walking towards where the giants were supposedly coming from.

    When one door closes...

Namine felt someone grab her hands, an upbeat tone as she screamed for them to get going. She tried pulling away but was jerked so quickly that she was unable to escape. Out the corner of her eye, passing the terrifying man, she saw something on the ground... It was long, pole like with a curved blade at the top. It looked like it was specifically made for killing... the curve of the blade made it so as it ran along you it would make a deeper cut with little effort... the sheer size of the blade alone would mean it was immeasurably heavy, making it harder to block than normal swords and spears... It would require great deals of strength to lift let alone swing it, and even more strength to change directions mid-swing.

Namine didn't know that what she was was nothing more than a shadow on the ground, and not knowing this meant that the memory of the shape of the weapon stuck. Had she known the difference between shadows and the real thing, she would have looked to Niyol and seen the sword in his hands. The blade that had a black spine with the sides being the same color, giving off a white glow as the blade itself was pure white with a black glow. This would have likely stuck more in her mind than seeing the scythe, since the sword was something that was behaving abnormally... While Namine's perception of normal was obscure, her instincts would have drawn her attention to that sword, though, she likely would have kept Lynn between herself and the one holding it.

Something that she thought of while being hauled away, the man didn't have any magic at all... Namine was able to sense magic coming from Lynn, and roughly the same amount coming from this Hana person... but the big man with scary eyes didn't give off any traces of magic at all. It was as though he wasn't even a wizard. His sword even gave off magic, not just the glow, but Namine was able to sense magic from the weapon itself. This meant that Niyol wasn't a wizard, and the only true magic he could use was resulting from his weapon... Or did he have some sort of way to completely mask his magic?

Namine was hauled back into the village where she looked back in Lynn's direction, but knew that she had to stay here. She didn't know why she had to stay here, but she was evidently given no choice by the other three... Not knowing what else to do, Namine walked to a corner and lowered herself. She sat with her arms around her knees and her face buried so all others would see was a red ball in the corner of the wall. She could feel that Hana was near her, hoping that she wouldn't leave, but too afraid to say it...

Niyol didn’t seem like he was very fond of the idea of having to go with her, but he agreed anyway. However, he told Hana, the girl beside her, to stay back with the small one in case she needed assistance. Lynn looked at the Hana person, then smiled at her. “Thank you. I’m sure she won’t need it but it was nice of you,” she said, giving her guildmate a look as well. “You take care of yourself then,” she said, giving her a pat on the head, before turning away to face the villagers, finding someone who looked like in charge and found that one of them had some sort of head accessory that made him look kind of important. “Sir, we will make sure that these monsters are taken care of. Please do not worry,” she told him and then began to walk away from the village. She wasn’t exactly sure where they were supposed to go, so she didn’t tell Zlatan anything but to follow them by air, and see if there are any clues of said ‘monsters’. She didn’t like being ambushed or caught by surprise. The ice dragon slayer gave a side glance and noticed the large weapon in Niyol’s hands. “You have a very nice weapon, Niyol. What can it do?” she asked. The magical reserves in this item showed how much power it possessed and how much of a threat the wielder was with such a thing in possession. “It looks quite menacing, to say the least,” she chuckled. She wasn’t being sarcastic. It really did appear that way.

The further they walked, the colder it got, which was in the Saber’s favor. Her magic was all about the chill and she was ready for anything in this type of weather. She could literally just take a bite of the ice around her and feel even more ready. Niyol on the other hand, had a bare chest which made her wonder if he was cold or not. He was certainly a tough guy, seeing all the scars he sported on his tan skin. His lean yet muscular build told her he had trained as well. Lynn liked people with lean builds just like herself, it seemed like they could move faster and pull off sneaky tricks better, even if Lynn wasn’t a sneaky person and Niyol didn’t look like one either. He seemed to be the kind of guy who was straight-forward even if people didn’t like it. For example, the incident that just happened earlier with Lynn which made her think he was rude motherfucker. Now they were cool, and she hoped that didn’t change.

iyol had looked at the sword in his hand, wondering why anyone would think it was a vicious weapon when it looked like nothing more than a glowing, two toned katana that radiated magic energy. Though, Niyol didn't know that the weapon radiated energy since he personally couldn't sense the magic of anyone who didn't share his element. As they continued walking out of the village, going into a snowy forest type area, Niyol held the sword out in front of him saying "Reap, Tamashi Reitoko." with a calm, emotionless voice. The weapon morphed into a scythe, resembling the one his shadow revealed earlier that Niyol held horizontally as though it weighed nothing at all.

    Giants of the North {Job: Niyol/Lynn/Squiggles} BWWLjj6

The trees rustled violently though no wind was blowing. Niyol's eyes changed from their standard dark, dull purple look to a shimmering deep blue color as he switched to looking at the souls of the world around them. "The trees are alive." he said calmly while looking around. His eyes stopped at a set of souls that were closing in slowly, quietly trying to sneak up on the two. Niyol quickly turned, placing Lynn's and his back facing each other while taking a combative stance. "We're not alone." he said while switching is vision to standard light perception. Through the bushes stepped into the clearing twelve massive dog like creatures... Wolves. They were the ancestors of all dogs and domesticated by humans to act as companions, as well as assistants in most situations... These ones were easily as tall as Niyol, and as the saliva dropped from their jaws it froze mid air to land as ice on the ground.

The trees reeled back their branches and whipped them, firing a multitude of needles at the two of them. Niyol flicked his scythe, spinning it in his hand and knocking down the needles. "Don't bother with the trees." he said and then let out a breath. "... Die." he said calmly, all of the trees that were attacked lost their needles and began withering, turning into a grey relic in a matter of seconds. The wolves all snarled at the two of them, the fact that thee was twelve of them made things a bit difficult... "Altsoba, Raios; Come forth." he said calmly, two black, magic circles appeared on both his sides and two women appearing from them.

    Raios:
    Altsoba:

    "This non-believer summons me?"
Raios stated with a truly offended tone. "You've got bigger issues Tits McGee, eyes forward." Altsoba retorted, feeling annoyed that Niyol even summoned Raios in the beginning. "Both of you steel yourselves and pick a foe." Niyol said sounding equally annoyed, the two woman letting out a huff and turning their gazes to the line of wolves...

    When one door closes...

Namine felt a sense of loneliness in the corner, she normally was surrounded by the members of the guild and some not from the guild but rather the town below the guild who decided to swing by. There was normally loud noise, food, people trying to talk to her, and sometimes a fight broke out that normally scared Namine into vanishing, only to come back a couple hours later. Even at night there was someone who patrolled the main hall that would normally keep an eye on Namine while she sat on the chair with her arms crossed over each other on the table, sound asleep. But here... everyone went about their lives and stayed far from her...

Namine felt someone sitting next the her, and then leaning against her gently. She lifted her head to find out that the girl who appeared out of the fire, the one with the tall shirtless guy was resting against Namine's shoulder. She wanted to scream, fear welling up inside while her large, innocent, crimson eyes narrowed on Hana's head. She saw Hana reach her hand over to her own and hold it, making Namine want to run, but there was a certain warmth to the action that also made her want to stay... She was unsure of what to do, the confusion itself serving to stave off the fear, building up until it had replaced it entirely...

Namine found her face turning a shade of pink from the gesture, unable to understand why someone being so close to her was making her feel more at east she wanted to shove Hana way. At the same time, Namine was feeling more relaxed than she had ever been in the past few days, and she found herself wanting to reach over and cuddle her back. In the end, Namine was unable to make herself reach out to Hana, but she did manage to not pull away... She laid her head back down in her knees and closed her eyes, letting herself become absorbed by the warm sensation of someone else holding her.

OOC: I had permission to control Hana.

The answer to Lynn’s question about his weapon was not by words, but by a show of what it could do - transform into a scythe. Lynn grinned when she saw this, almost reaching out to touch it. She had a weird habit of wanting to touch things that she found to like just by the sight of it. Knowing the type of person Niyol was, she refrained from doing anything reckless, especially like touching the weapons that could end up being used to slice her head off for being so nosy and annoying. Soon after, they would reach some sort of a clearing, or so she thought, but faced with a bunch of trees up front. Lynn raised a brow, putting her hands on her hips as she tilted her head to the side. Something felt off, and then Niyol would let her know that they weren’t alone. “Yeah, I feel it,” she replied, looking at the trees like something was going to come out from between them. But then she realized something he said before that, and let out an unexpectedly loud laugh. “Well, you don’t say. It’s science. Trees have life, too,” she told him with a strange look, then turn back to the trees once hearing plenty of footfalls from between them...coming towards Lynn and Niyol.

Wolves! Who would have guessed, right? Lynn almost rolled her eyes, then looked over to what Niyol was doing. Apparently, he had a lot of surprises. Now, he had summoned two creatures that she had never seen before. They weren’t celestial spirits, she was aware of that, so it must have been some kind of summoning magic. Damn, did she miss her summoning magic. She used to be a summoner, too, being able to bring forth Guardians from Fismuth over to this world in order to help her in battle. They weren’t bothered, even though it wasn’t their actual duty to fight for her, but since she was a Prestigious and all that, it seemed that their respect for her alone had given them the spirit to assist Lynn whenever she needed. Zlatan let out a soft grunt, reminding Lynn that he was still there and could help if needed. “Right, Zlatan, all you gotta do right now is weaken our enemies so our friends here can handle them more easily,” she told the lion who was ready to pounce at the enemies. The wolves were smaller than him of course, which made him feel slightly more confident. As commanded by his mistress, Zlatan took a firm step back as if the impact of what he was going to do next might affect his stance, and then produced yet another one of his deafening roars.

I need not a vain title bestowed on worthless men by glorified fools seated in opulent chairs of safety...

One of them had attacked out of the blue... Niyol closed his eyes, letting his mind drift to a slightly different time... The flashback played, miles and miles of blue skies lay before the shirtless mage. His single strand of long hair flickering behind him as the shorter, but still rather lengthy unkempt hair waved in the gentle breezes passing by him. It had been a harsh road Niyol had come as he reflected on his past. He'd gone from being a simple child with almost nothing, to being one of the strongest death mages in Fiore. He'd gone from having no friends, no family, no sense of humanity to having Mao, Kateri, and Hana. All of which he'd regarded as his entire world. While Niyol hadn't wanted a child, or at least, he didn't think himself worthy of having one at all, Kateri's birth had brought about a true blessing to him. A sigh of contentment was released as the normally bitter Niyol had fully accepted that his life, while harsh up till recently, was rather decent. Though, he wondered exactly where the change had started... Why was it that Niyol had met Mao in the first place? Mao had been through great ordeals with Niyol, his affection for her growing since the time she showed him mercy in the Ancient Ruins following one of his demons taking over him. Since then, Mao had guarded his back while performing a seemingly mundane task in the Forgotten desert which had lead to her entrusting him with information fit for more worthy ears. His love for the woman had grown further, excelling beyond common friendship to the point where he would display his magical prowess to the fullest extent, going so far to steal the one thing he'd swore he'd never touch. Niyol's mind faded back to reality, returning to the fact that he was no longer flying over those canyons, and his trip had finished here...

Thinking back to that task... the first time Niyol had actively gone out to save someone he cared about so dearly... Niyol let out a scoff as he remembered exactly how great of lengths he'd gone to ensure Mao's survival. However, in the end Niyol never even made it to fight Syu... he didn't even see the battle. His fists tightened as he remembered the bloody battle between him and the life magus... that damned talkative woman. Still, despite his uselessness on that day Mao had aided him in retrieving the Balance Core. It was on that day that Niyol confessed to her, and Mao accepted the invitation to become his sister. It was the second greatest day of his life, behind finding out he was a father... the day when his family... the one he himself had obliterated, became that much larger. Niyol's eyes grew softer as he sat in the brush, thinking of how it may be possible to restore his tribe... to possibly gain another sister, or perhaps a brother...

Thinking of it now, Niyol knew that Mao was vastly older than he... but the whole time they knew each other Mao had treated him as though they were the same age. He questioned whether or not he actually should act as a younger sibling, or if she was alright with treating him as her equal. There would also be the possibility she wanted to be the younger of the two? "First I must cleanse my sins." Niyol said outloud before standing up, sliding a blade from his left side. Niyol knew he was on the Magic Council's shit list, and he knew his way of living was a blight in his sister's eyes. Niyol wanted to be the brother, whether younger or not, that Mao would be proud to mention being acquainted with... so he had much work that needed to be done. However, this work was exceedingly bloody, and would require more sin... so much blood and sin that a river would form by which to wash away his sin... then and only then could he attempt to become a better man...

    -Back to reality-

All of it happening in Niyol's mind in under a second, the first wolf had felt Niyol's sword inserting itself into the beast's head causing it to erupt into ashes. The second wolf coming up only to have all of its four legs sliced clean off, turning into pure ice before hitting the ground and exploding into ice crystals when it did hit the ground. The last one had ran off, deciding that the effort wasn't worth it if it had died, Niyol didn't bother chasing it. Raios and Altsoba had both killed their three wolves, leaving the three that were originally facing her.

    When one door closes...
Back at the village, Namine was in the arms of someone else and had become stiff as a board. She was trembling, but at the same time didn't feel like she was in danger. The person was warm, and they weren't hurting Namine at all, in fact, the gesture made Namine feel a bit more relaxed since the one holding her was doing so with no reasons to do so at all. She was so relaxed by the warms Hana was giving off that she ended up closing her eyes and relaxing, soon falling completely asleep... Namine looked around, a world covered in blue, glowing crystals... caked with ferns, and small plants and several small streams where the water glowed the exact same way the crystals did... She didn't see anyone at all, not even Mashyuu as much as she detested him... While normally she would panic this place felt at home, it was like she had been here before, or something about it was ingrained in her memory. She walked, following the flow of one of the streams that ended at a massive formation of crystals, inside a girl with fox ears and a single, thick tail. The person's eyes turned, staring directly at Namine and making her take a step back. "Who are you?" she asked calmly, her voice sounded like she was speaking through an auto-tuner of sorts... Namine looked around, and then back at the fox lady. "How did you get here?" she asked, switching the question up.

Namine looked at her, her eyes saddening at the fact that she couldn't speak. While this was all a dream, Namine felt like it was real, and didn't know that in her dreams, she could make anything she wanted come to fruition...

In the real world, the snarls of hungry predators was heard near the walls. The villagers had all been thrown into disarray as they dropped everything they were holding and, or doing and made their way to the nearest shelters. Homes that were owned by other people were even used by strangers as protection, the real owners not caring for their presence since they didn't want anyone to die, and having them run to their own homes might be too risky. Hana tuned in, hearing the sounds of paws pressing into the snow, quadrupeds, meaning they walked on all fours... in total there was only three of them, an easy task to deal with for her, though Hana didn't want to unleash fire in a snow covered area for fear that below the snow would be a lake or something...

Niyol had cleared out his portion of the enemies, with the help of the two females with odd appearances. Lynn was done as well, patting off dust from her lower wear in case she had caught some in battle. Zlatan stood proudly beside her, rubbing his paws and licking the tips of his wings as if to clean them, not like his wings needed any cleaning. They were automatically pure white once they returned home and he changed form. Lynn stood firmly awaiting any more enemies that dared to approach them. Niyol was pretty dangerous, you could tell from his looks, so there was no doubt the two of them combined would be some sort of chaos. “Neat,” she said, a compliment to Niyol and a comment on their little killing spree of animals. The Ice Dragon Slayer then wondered if her guild mate who was left back in the village was alright and safe. It seemed the enemies were coming from hers and Niyol’s current location so she was almost certain that her guildmate was perfectly fine. Now that those annoying wolves were gone, she looked ahead without moving, knowing that more were going to come, either wolves or live trees. Whatever they were, Lynn thought she should wait for them to come to her. Soon, loud footfalls rang through the icy region, causing a mini earthquake that shook but not to the point of her losing her balance and falling.

The source of this disturbance was none other than a large humanoid creature with a chilling aura that did nothing but get overwhelmed by Lynn’s own. With a frown, she watched as it approached them at the speed of a turtle, giving her time to run around it approximately twenty times at full speed in the time for it to reach her standing point. She sighed, deciding to keep calm until it attack them because clearly she had all the time in the world to evade its attempts, seeing how slow everything about the creature was. But what happened next shocked her so much she lost her composure and almost cursed. Two more of the humanoids appeared out of nowhere, now following in the first one’s footsteps towards them. Lynn took a quick glance at her side, to see what Niyol was doing and then turned back. A chilling wind would push Lynn’s hair backwards, but do nothing to her. Raising an eyebrow, she then realised that she had the upper hand. “Oh dear, you must know I am the Slayer of Ice. Today must be your lucky day!” she announced, laughing hard before hopping onto the back of her guardian, making sure she was super comfy. This was going to be an interesting fight, especially because she could eat their attacks.

Niyol felt the ground shudder beneath his feat, icicles rattling overhead with each step. A set of frozen spikes dropped down, having broken off of the tree branch they hung from and been directed by gravity, almost slamming Niyol in the crown. Raios had begun phasing out of reality, the amount of residual soul energy being insufficient to sustain her for longer she vanished without a care in the world. Altsoba had lingered, seeing as Niyol had used more of his magic to recreate her form than he did Raios. While he would never admit to it, he did so out of a certain fondness he felt for the woman. This fondness was not the same type a man felt for a woman when he wanted to mate with her, but rather it was the fondness that developed from being around someone your whole life. Niyol didn't love her, and he didn't consider her a mother in any way shape or form, nor would he admit to it if he did, but she had been around him for so long that she had grown on him.

The shaking stopped as three massive humanoids had walked up on the two mages with Lynn spouting something about being a 'Slayer of Ice' which didn't quite register as significant with Niyol. However, something happened after this that was significant... "I am assuming direct control." a feminine voice called from behind causing Niyol's eyes to grow wide. One of the three giants dropped to its knees and let out an ungodly howl of pain while grabbing its head. The once-icey looking skin had turned black, dark blue cracks appearing on its body with its eyes glowing crimson. Turning slowly, Niyol spotted a woman in black armour, blue and black flames with a sword in her hand.

Giants of the North {Job: Niyol/Lynn/Squiggles} RaepgBk

"I'm unsure whether or not to feel honored, I've never met a god before." the woman said while glaring at Niyol through hazey eyes. "You still haven't. State your name and purpose." "Don't play dumb, you are Niyol are you not!?" "I am, now state your name and cause, do not make me repeat myself." "You may call me Ktharsis, my cause...? It's simple, I'm here to kill you so my master may take your place as the God of-" Niyol had cut the woman off by suddenly appearing with a fist covered in blue and black flames, lodged deep in her stomach with spit flying from her mouth as she was lifted off her feet and bent over the fist. Altsoba put on a bored look and said calmly "Well, he's pissed." Just before a black magic circle appeared and Niyol shot 300 feet straight up with the woman still attached to his fist. Niyol's fist disconnected for a brief second just before twelve small blue orbs appeared arranged like the numbers on a clock and converging on the middle of his fist. Niyol spun horizontally while this happened, a much larger blue flame appeared on his fist just before smashing into the woman.

    -Meanwhile on the ground-
Altsoba looked up as Niyol blasted off. "I've been on the receiving end of that..." she said with a blank expression that quickly switched to a contemplative one "which means...." she said before vanishing and appearing behind the black skinned Undead Ice Giant's head and delivering a hard kick. The creature grabbed the back of its head while stumbling slightly, letting out an angry yell. Altsoba vanished and appeared back where she was standing. "Hit me and I'll let you kiss my feet!" she shouted with a grin, the giant began running forward with a large club held high. Altsoba moved backwards, vanishing after a few steps with the giant looking about in confusion. "Look up dear...." Altsoba said while sitting on a branch nearby and pointing up at a massive ball of blue and black flames. The giant looked up, letting out an inquisitive grunt an exact second before a screaming woman smashed into him and an eruption of flaming souls blasted them. "Told you." she said calmly and rested her elbow on her leg with her hand in her palm, a gentle smile on her face.

Niyol slammed into the snow, a gauntlet with two inch claws on his hand seemingly made of the same blue flames that littered the area. A low grumble, angry, hateful and calm came from the shirtless man. "I am not a God." The woman slowly turned, covered in the blood of the giant that she crashed through (likely the only reason she didn't die herself), getting on her hands and knees. "I- I'm sorry my lord... P- please, show merc-" she was cut off by Niyol's shin impacting her stomach and lifting her in the air. "DO NOT ADDRESS ME AS SUCH!" he shouted with absolute anger. "I AM NIYOL...!" he shouted, letting her body fly up from his leg but slowly continue rising. He scythe flew from where he'd dropped it and into his hand, swinging low like a one-handed golf club from hell. "...THE GUARDIAN OF SOULS!" he finished while dragging her through the air in an arc over his body and sending her flying, crashing through the base of the tree Altsoba was sitting on and into the trunk behind it. Niyol looked through the hole while panting, ignoring the blood and giant bits around him while panting heavily.

"You should really work on that temper of yours my love! It will one day cause you to combat someone greater in scale than yourself!" Altsoba shouted from above with a teasing tone. "Please... my lord... K-kill me." the woman said in a tone Niyol could barely hear from the ten meter gap. Niyol walked forward, through the hole in the tree and looked down on her as blood seeped through the armour she wore. "Why?" he asked coldly, standing only three meters from her. "If you -breathing heavily- do not... my master will -coughs up blood-" "Then your master is a fool. I have no cause to end you, and if you are willing to make a pawn of yourself then let your fate meet you." "Please -coughs up more blood- A quick death is-" "No." Niyol said coldly and walked away.

If Lynn would be finished with her battle, Niyol's flaming gauntlet covered arm would turn into a normal human one once more and his scythe would revert to a sword before being sheathed. He would return to the village to let them know their troubles were dealt with and then go on with his business.

    When one door closes...
In the dream, as if at random... for no reason at all... It was cold... the air was still and Namine could feel the ice burrowing into her bones. Normally her cloak prevented such things, but for some reason, the air was so frigid even her cloak couldn't keep it out. Something brushed against her back, spinning around she saw an enormous wolf with fur that was white as snow, with an enormous, still bleeding gash running down its flank. Another one had appeared behind the girl, brushing against her to get her attention. This one however, was missing its entire head... Another that had been cut into two pieces, the top half was missing, leaving only four legs, attached to a torso with no tail and the bottom half of a head. The three wolves circled her, stalking around her slowly as she covered her mouth for fear she'd throw up... It had shocked her so greatly that her eyes flew open to look at an ungodly scene...

Blood was everywhere, and on the floor were three wolves... One had an enormous gash down the right side of its body, deep and still bleeding, letting her know whatever happened had happened recently. The other had no head at all, but this one wasn't bleeding, but rather, it was smoldering from the wound as though someone used a flaming sword to cut it off, and the flames cauterized the wound. The third, just like in the dream again, was cut into two pieces, the top half was missing, leaving only four legs, attached to a torso with no tail and the bottom half of a head. A few feet back was the top half of a wolf skull attached to a spine and a tail with a long streak of blood leading to its body... This time, Namine had thrown up and passed out. Hana would give her to Lynn when they came back, she would still be passed out though, and likely wouldn't wake up until several days after arriving at the guild hall. The dreams she would have at this time would remain unknown to most people, as she had no ways of making sense of them just yet...

OOC: I had permission to control Hana.

    Giants of the North {Job: Niyol/Lynn/Squiggles} Empty Re: Giants of the North {Job: Niyol/Lynn/Squiggles}

Post by Fair 17th July 2016, 9:54 am

Just as she was about to charge at the three ice monsters, something unexpected happened. A random female in armor approached them from behind, addressing Niyol as a ‘God’. Frowning in thought, Lynn mumbled, “A God? How is this person a God? I would feel some kind of godly radiance, wouldn’t I?” Since it looked like the woman was here to challenge Niyol only, and had nothing to do with the job, the Ice Dragon Slayer shrugged, turning back to the ice monsters, realising one of them was looking like a withering flower now. Was this the stranger’s work? Well if that was the case, then she was grateful to her for taking out one of their enemies. Of course she would not say ‘thank you’ out loud or anything. “Alright it’s just you two now,” she told the remaining ones, since she figured that the weird woman’s magic would work its way and kill off that monster eventually.

But instead of working its way for any sort of result, the monster was crushed instead by the force of Niyol and the woman who were apparently fighting in the air. Blinking at Niyol’s actions, she grinned. Impressive. So he could do things like that when he was angered? Lynn wondered what she might do if she was truly angered. In fact, she just realised that she had never really been angry for real. Not ever. Which was strange. Someone must have had at least one time in their life where they seriously lost their shit, but in Lynn’s case, it looked like that was not the situation. She had really never been angry. “Hm.” Now it was time to take out the remaining two instead of wondering about random things. See, you could tell how long her attention span was. Goldfish? Fuck goldfish! Her attention span was close to non-existent. “Alright alright. I’ll think about that later.” She was clearly in her talkative mood. So she cleared her throat then and focused on the two monsters. Since there were only two of them now, she could do something that she couldn’t when there were three of them. She wasn’t that powerful yet.

So she focused on them, trying to freeze them, yes even though they were already ice she did that so that she would have control over them as her own ice and not just random ice. This way, she could have fun without doing much moving. Now that they were living ice under her control, Lynn made them fight each other and crossed her legs on Zlatan as they both watched. So in the end, they both fought each other to their deaths, and her job was done. Niyol seemed to have noticed this and returned to the village, which Lynn did as well. She would tell the villagers that they had nothing to worry about now, and retrieve the passed out guildmate, place her on the back of Zlatan and take her back to the Sabertooth guild to get her healed. She was worried, but she had a feeling that the girl would be fine.
