Episode 11:
When Plants Attack!

Yes…

The Dragon Slayer vanquished the enemy and then plopped onto the ground. Even though it looked as if he’d made things easy, he was very tired from the battle. Somehow the Corn Demons proved to be more trouble then they appeared to be. Either way Slade continued to lie down and took the time to rest.

In the background the villagers’ cheers could be heard and caused the Mage to raise his arm as a sign of victory. After he did so, the Dragon Slayer noticed blood falling. Instead of worrying like the man who noticed it first, he simply laughed at his wounds. Still, something felt off and Slade couldn’t quite put his finger on it.

“WAIT THAT’S RIGHT,” he jumped up, “What about the Dark Wizard, where is he?”

It was as if the Dragon Slayer had said the magic word. Everyone suddenly got quiet and forgot that one responsible for the mayhem was still at large. The troubling part was that none of them had a clue where he could even be. Right while everyone tried to remember where the villainous man could be, they all heard something bouncing.

“Oh great… what now…” he muttered out, turning towards the sound.

Progress: Wave 1, 2, 3, & 4: Defeated! Wave 5: Remaining!

When Plants Attack!

It was as if the nightmare was never going to end. The Fire Dragon Slayer watched as even more corn arrived to the battlefield. He couldn’t believe what he saw, was the Dark Wizard being lazy with his creations or could he just not make more? Either way it annoyed Slade even more to see the same enemy again and again.

“Quick someone,” he said to the crowd of bystanders, “Toss me another pitchfork.”

Surprisingly one was found nearby and a villager grabbed it. Instead of running towards the Mage, he instead tossed it at him. The Dragon Slayer then caught it and stared back at the Corn-like Monsters.

“When I get done with you,” he threatened them, “There’ll be cream corn to go on for weeks.”

Apparently the words angered the Demons and caused them to bounce. Rather than heading for them, Slade decided to remain still and allow them to reach him. Once they did, he swung the tool fifteen times, hoping to finish the battle once at for all. While he attacked, the creatures tried to slam their bodies into the Mage.

When I kill every last one of you, I’m never eating corn for as long as I live...

They were still standing and that fueled the Mage’s rage even more. He just wanted his bad dream to be over with, but it felt as if that’d never happen for him. Though, from all the scratches that were piling up on the Dragon Slayer, he was somewhat impressed. He also felt a drizzle of sweat falling from his forehead as well and knew that the Dark Wizard was at least onto something.

Even if they’re weak, a herd of them will still make anyone fall.

That, however, didn’t mean that Slade would give up. Even if he was barely holding on, he’d still try his hardest to attack. After he wiped his brow, the Mage summoned fire from his fingers. He was readying his claws and could see that the enemy was preparing yet another round of belly flops. It was a move that annoyed Slade greatly, but there was little he could do to stop it.

“NOW LET’S SEE WHAT’S STRONGER,” he yelled, “MY CLAWS OR YOUR FLOPS!”

The Dragon Slayer lunged towards them and swiped his hands until he’d unleashed twenty ferocious swings towards the Corn-like beings. While he did that, they tried their hardest to bounce their bodies at him so that they wouldn’t die in vain. The crowd continued to watch, hoping to finally harvest the crops.

Finally after the Mage’s assault, the Corn-like Demon had been vanquished. The crowd watched and couldn’t be happier. While Slade wanted to join in their celebration, he couldn’t do anything but fall to the ground himself. As strong as he wanted to make himself out to be, he couldn’t outrun fatigue. Still, he did manage to lift one arm up as a sign of his victory.

Now hopefully that is the end and there should be no more.

Suddenly while everyone was caught up in their own thing, a mysterious man floated high above the battlefield. He had a long beard and looked down at the Dragon Slayer. Right as Slade sat back up, the Dark Wizard let out a mischievous laughter.

“Sorry that I showed up so late!” he said, “I am Hildon Twigglebottom the third!”

Normally the Fire Dragon Slayer would have responded back, introducing himself as well. Instead, he decided to go all out from the start and sprouted wings to reach the enemy. After he was safely in the air, Slade summoned fire from his fingers and swung his claws around eleven times. He wanted to end things quickly.

“My my,” the Dark Wizard said, “You sure are a feisty one!”

The Dark Mage then fired bullets of corn at the Dragon Slayer, much like his henchmen. While Slade was in the middle of his attack, he started to charge his fire Magic. It was going to be his last resort in case his initial attacks weren’t a match for his opponent.

Pain is what the Dragon Slayer felt after his opponent’s rain of blows. As much as he wanted to give up and tend to his wounds, defeating his opponent meant a lot more to him. Judging from his recent assault, he could tell that he still needed to unleash more to defeat the Dark Wizard.

“Say young whippersnapper, “ Hildon said, “Is that all you have? I’m afraid it’s not enough. I’m much tougher than those pawns you’ve faced before.”

Pawns? Did he just call his comrade’s pawns?

Slade had to admit that he’d knew how it felt to have feeling towards his allies, mostly because he’d never really had friends other than his Dragon. That, however, didn’t mean that he would ignore someone mocking theirs, even if those beings weren’t really people. While the Dragon Slayer was still in the air, he started his next round of attacks.

First he coated his fingers with his magic and fired off around five fiery bullets towards the Dark Wizard. Then after that, he exploded with a burst of speed to get closer to his opponent. One punch after another, Slade tried his best to pound sense into his opponent’s head.

Since Hildon didn’t want to let the Mage have all the fun, he fired off more rounds of corn and topped off his assault with a strange beam. It wasn’t an ordinary beam, but one that came with a costing effect to its target. It would cause them arms to bounce around as if it was Jelly.

Not only did Slade miss his target a few times, but his left arm felt as if it was made of jelly. It angered him greatly to know how poorly he was doing. He wanted nothing more than to make his name world renown so that his parents would see their mistake. Rather than kicking himself off already, he decided to keep his assault going.

“Your aim is pretty horrible,” the Dark Wizard continued to mock the Dragon Slayer, “But how’s about we finish this. Maybe try your luck at firing that charged up attack at me?”

Those words completely shocked Slade. He had no idea that Hildon knew his plan along and also knew that since the fiend was aware of it, it’d be harder for him to land it. Still, he didn’t want his opponent to know that he unsure of his last resort.

Suddenly the wings of fire that the Mage sprouted finally vanished away, but right before it went away completely, he wanted to strike. Slade managed to punch around ten more time as he was free falling. Next he fired off more rounds of his fiery bullets, hoping that at least one would land.

“Fire Dragon,” the Dragon Slayer then said, opening his mouth as wide as it could go, “SCORCHING YELL!”

After he finished speaking, a large blast wave rushed upwards and at Hildon. As it did so, the Dark Wizard fired off a spell of his own. Rather than aiming to hit Slade, it went straight for the Dragon Slayer’s attack. Would it overpower Slade’s final attack or would it lose?

It worked! The Dragon Slayer’s attack sliced through the Dark Wizard’s spell as if it was made out of butter. After the assault, Hildon’s body fell from the air and then a loud thud echoed across the land as he collided with the ground. The villagers who watched crowded around the fallen Wizard and then looked at Slade.

“YAY FINALLY WE CAN START THE HARVEST!” most of them said in unison.

The Dragon Slayer wanted to join in, but sadly his body was worn out as well. He laid down and decided he would just enjoy his victory with some rest. One man from the village then walked towards the Hero and asked the Mage what his name was.

“My name?” Slade answered back, “Heh, you can just call me Blaze.”

As funny as he thought that nickname was, it was something his Dragon called him. He figured that he might as well carry it on so that not only his parents would know how he was doing, but his first friend would as well. He also wondered how his parents would react, would they be proud or would they ignore his actions altogether.

Guess we’ll have to let fate tell me instead.
