Matter of the Soul [Daiki|Nuria] [Job]

Job Info:

Daiki had stood at the Job Board at the Fairy Tail guild hall for quite a while until she had actually noticed a job that seemed to have very little information about what it would entail on what would happen on it. She would cross her arms for a moment before weighing the pros and the cons of it, though for another person the cons would much out weight the pros, but for her, she'd take it, mainly if just for the randomness factor that could happen. Daiki would soon leave the guild hall and head towards where the initial area that was said on the piece of paper.

As she had gotten to the area, she would cross her arms around a hundred yards away from it before she would start stretching a bit so that she would get ready before she and whoever else would be doing this job with. She would smile slightly as she had continue to stretch for a good five minutes so that she was fully prepared, though at some point she was just doing it out of boredom from waiting. After having finished stretching, she would make sure her weapons were fine where they were, in which she would go closer to the area. Though as she had gotten closer, she would suddenly get brought to another dimension.

She would quickly look around, noticing that everything was now dark, and not knowing where she had been transported to, though she hoped someone would also arrive to the area for the job so that she could have some help getting out of... where ever this was. Now, all she would do for the time being would be to search the general area after having crossed her arms. Now the question was, who would also come to the area.

Nuria had already been at the strange realm of darkness and shadow, where apparently all fear rested. She was always at job locations early, because she knew that being on time was the best of all traits, but being early even outclassed that. The only problem with that was how boring it got when she was early. She had arrived an hour or so early and began to explore this land of infinite night, and she emitted light from her fiery body so she could at least see a little bit. While exploring she found nothing, so she returned to where the portal was, and began pacing around while waiting. Eventually, about a half an hour after re-reaching the portal someone emerged from it, and began waiting impatiently as if Nuria was being very late. The nerve on this bastard! she thought to herself, as she walked over to the other person, fists clenched and angry. "Waiting on someone?" she said sarcastically, fiery both literally and in personality. The heat coming off Nuria kept getting higher, but eventually it just died down back to its normal state, so Nuria sat down in the land of darkness once again. Don't get overworked, Nuria. You need the money, so don't flip out on this person yet. Nuria put her hand under her chin, and began looking around. "I'll be working with you. Name's Nuria." the fire spirit said with a sigh, clearly bored. "The job says this place will challenge our life as soon as we get here, yet I've been bored this entire time. I've seen a couple ghouls along the way but nothing worth while, and it's been silent and boring while i was here. Couldn't you have gotten here earlier?" she said annoyed, but almost as if on cue she heard a sound. Multiple sounds at that. Was someone watching them? Was it multiple people? "Who's there!?" Nuria yelled toward the direction of the sounds, and then whatever it was sounded as though it ran away. Great, everything here runs from you. This was definitely an awesome, super fun job to pick.

Daiki stood where she had stood, with her arms crossed, until she had soon heard someone ask if she had been waiting for someone. She had noticed the sarcasm in the question, and had soon started to feel the heat being emitted from the person who seemed to be made of fire. Even with the distance between the two, and soon she couldn't feel the heat anymore. She had watched as the woman had sat down, and introducing herself as Nuria. Though she didn't really give off much of a response time before continuing to restate what the job had said and stating that its been boring and silent while she had been there. The annoyed undertones of the womans words would have hit a nerve if she had actually have been late. "Nice to meet you, Nuria. I'm Daiki. And it's not like I was late, and if anything, I was right on time." She said, with a sigh herself, as there was a sound that had been made as Nuria had finished speaking, though she wouldn't much take notice and look around until after she had finished speaking.

As Nuria had yelled if anyone was there, she would look around and actually try to keep a note of the area around the two of them. As she had scanned the area a few times, she would soon notice that something had quickly moved through her sight and had soon hugged her right leg, making a few high pitched sounds in a panic. Soon after it had done so, quite a few smaller creatures running towards them and the creature that had ran and hugged Daiki's leg. "Well, I guess some action starts here... Though it seems this thing isn't going to attack... yet... or if at all..." She had said, as the piercing just off to the side and below her left eye had started to glow slightly. After it had done so, four riles had appeared near her, having her create an anchor point. Roughly half of the creatures had started to make their way towards Nuria, and the others started on their way towards Daiki.

As the eight had started to charge towards her, she would grabe two of the rifles, in which she would fire one after another, letting them go after they had fired their shot, and four more appearing after she had finished firing the first four. Luckily she had hit four of the shadow creatures, and she was lucky that she didn't need to move much so the thing that was clinging to her leg wasn't in her way too much. She would quickly dispatch the last four creatures that had been moving towards her and the creature. The last two rifles she had her hands on had disappeared, which had her piercing stop glowing. She would wait until nuria was finished dealing with the seven creatures that had started going after her.

Nuria looked at the tiny demon thing, and sighed. She heard sounds from the direction where it came, and then fifteen shadow-things came out, and they looked as though they were ready to fight. Seven charged towards Nuria, so she stood up with another sigh. At least these things don't run away. Well, let's kick some ass. she thought to herself, and her entire body changed from orange to deep red, and even more heat was radiating off of her than normal. Her pupils and irises both seemed to vanish, and all that was left of her eyes were bright orange sclera, and she cracked her knuckles. The seven surrounded her, in a circular manner so Nuria smiled. Two in opposite directions charged forward, and both tried to punch Nuria in the face, when Nuria ducked they both hit each other, and then exploded into dust. "Wh-What the-" Nuria said, but another one ran towards her and tried to again, punch her but this time Nuria tried to grab the hand of this thing, and she did but when she kneed the ghoul in the stomach it blew up into dust like the other one. "Oh COME ON!!! This place is supposed to be challenging! Everything runs away and the things that DO try to fight you die instantly!" she yelled, then she turned both of her hands into fiery longswords, then proceeded to slash two of the shadow ghouls, then two more. Nuria began looking at the dust that they blew up into, and couldn't make out whether or not she was positive, but she thought she saw them moving. "Gu-reat...." she said as she began walking over to Daiki, who hopefully was done with her battle by now, only looking back to the remains of the ghouls once to see if the very minimul movement she saw changed to major movement, but it seemed the same as usual.

Daiki watched as Nuria had started to fight off the small monsters that had arrived, in which they would explode into dust, which is what was different since none of the ones she had hit had exploded into dust. In fact, there were no trace of the ones she had attacked anymore. She would listen to the woman made of flame speak, twice before moving back ober towards her, as she had quickly finished her battle. "We shouldn't get ahead of ourselves, since we don't know what else is out there." The blond had said, as rustling could be heard outside of their sight range. Soon after the rustling started, another fifteen small figures had appeared with one that most resembled some sort of beast. "I guess we're continuing." She had said, as the piercing started to glow again, causing eight more rifles to appear around her, in which she would start firing the guns one by one towards the smaller enemies, in which after everyone she had used, another would appear, allowing her to fire as long as they didn't get near, though the beast had quickly moved towards her, only allowing her to get four shots off before it had reached her. When it reached her, she would have tried to hit it with the stock of the rifle, but it had quickly dodged and blocked a second hit before moving back slightly.

She would continue to try and shoot the beast, hitting it three times before it started to dodge her shots from here-on out. As she had made the beast move continuously, she would hit one of the smaller figures by accident, bringing her total up to five taken out of the new batch of enemies. "I need a little help here!" She said, doing her best to keep the beast at bay and on the move with her shots.

A challenge. Cleona lived for challenges but this job seemed perfect. It could give her that chance she always wanted to prove herself. She could see it at that moment: defeating her great foe with zeal, earning her valor, and forever cementing her name in history. At least, she hoped for something of that nature. She did not want to get her hands dirty with pointless fight with nothing to show for it; then again, showing herself that she was capable of a true fight despite her size was good enough for her. There was always this feeling of inadequacy gnawing at her. It was a matter she was quite self-conscious about, bringing out a god-complex from within in her and driving the haughty pixie toward achievement. This wasn’t even about the Jewels. It was purely to ease her self-doubts.

Cleona fluttered her wings and flew through that dark area as she felt herself being sucked into the great void. It was a painless sensation but creepy nonetheless until she finally made it to the other side. It wasn’t much better: dark but slightly less. Her antennas glowed and lit up the area, though just barely. Her nocturnal eyes, however, allowed her to pierce the darkness with ease as she navigated through the area. As she flew, she noticed the lack of wind that usually give her wings a little stress-relief. This world was quite strange indeed.

“What the Hell is this…?”

The pixie looked onward with a dumbfounded look upon her face. She spotted a woman with a mass of… guns? Stocks? Cleona couldn’t quite make out what the weapons were exactly but the woman seemed to be holding her own against the monsters coming at her, at least somewhat. She called out for help and, for a reason she couldn’t quite put her finger on, Cleona came rushing toward the woman to help.

As Daiki kept the larger beast on the move, away from both her and the small shadow that was hugging one of her ankles. Every time she fired one of the guns, and let it go, another one would be summoned in place of the one that was used. The piercing that was just below her left eye and off to the left as well. Though as the time started to pass as she continued to fire shot after shot from her rifles, she would soon notice that the rest of the smaller enemies were after her, in which she would have to start firing two shots at a time, one at the larger enemy and one towards the small pack of enemies, taking them out in one hit.

The smaller enemies that got too close were hit with the stock of a gun and their 'ashes' would be shot to prevent them from reforming. Though after a few minutes she would finish off the smaller group, and would focus on the larger one, yet again. By this time, it was getting tired and decided to try and actually attack instead of dodging, though now it had stopped dodging entirely. It easily, and quickly got hit by three more shots, causing it to disappear entirely.

She would sigh slightly after all of them had been defeated before having started to examine the area again, and seeing a small figure approaching her as she had taken out the larger enemies. She would pant slightly as she examined the figure that approached her while floating in the air. "I'm guessing you're here to help me out? She would ask, looking back to where she had last seen her teammate, but no one else was there... She didn't know what to think of it, considering that she had just spoken to someone...

It was impressive watching the woman dispatch so many enemies in just a few moments. The small shadowy monsters stood little chance though the larger monster had quite the fight in him. The woman, whoever she was, fought with grace. Her movements were fluid and it would have been difficult for most to keep up with her. She was a watch-worthy fighter indeed. Her presence, nonetheless, sparked a curiosity in the pixie. Cleona obviously had to question why another was there though she just assumed she was answering the call to the challenge as well.

“I suppose I am. I didn’t really expect anyone else in here though.” The pixie frowned as she had hoped to go through the challenge alone. The achievement of surviving through it would be compromised like paint being riddled down with water. Then again, it’d be a completely jackass move to just leave the woman by herself to fend from whatever those monster were. Anyone could safely assume more were to show up from the surrounding darkness and even someone as harsh as the pixie could not imagine falling prey to such a terrible fate. “You can call me Cleona by the way.”

“What is that thing?” Cleona cocked her head downward to see a little shadow creature clinging to the woman’s leg. It was obviously different from the other shadow creatures, with its spooked demeanor yet strangely adorable stature being evident of that fact. “Don’t you think you should… kill it?” The pixie didn’t particularly like whatever that thing was; it just seemed strange and out of place compared to the other, more aggressive shadow monsters. She incorrectly guessed it to be a trap and somewhat expected it to grow into something meaner when neither of them were looking.

Subtly so, the pixie was spreading its pixie dust to the surrounding area, making the woman and her little shadow friend immune to her poisons; although, it could be guessed that none of the shadow creatures could be affect by her poisons anyway.

As the figure of quite a small stature had started to speaking to her, frowning while saying that she didn't expect anyone else in... where ever they were. He would continue to observe how the figure would move, and even wracked her brain as to try and figure out what the figure was, but eventually gave up, due to not having a single clue as to what she was. Though soon, she would introduce herself as Cleona. After smiling for a moment, she would then speak. "Nice to meet you, I'm Daiki."

Soon after the introductions, Cleona would ask if what the small, cowardly shadow was that was hiding by her leg was. Daiki would shake her head slightly before hearing Cleona spoke once more, this time she brought up killing the creature. "I don't know what it is, but until it turns against us, in which then you can fully blame me, but until then, it'll stay alive. Considering that the other shadows seem to be drawn more towards it than us. At least that's how that larger beast seemed..." She said, shrugging her arms slightly before crossing them. "I don't mean to sound rude but... what exactly are you? I can't figure it out for the life of me." She would say, moving close to try and figure out what she was while not more than a foot and a half away from her. It's fairly reasonable since Daiki didn't know what a Pixie was. Whether that was something she had purposely lacked or something she just had never thought or heard of, was up to interpretation for people aside from her.

After a few minutes she would stop doing so before speaking yet again. "I'm so sorry, I didn't even think if I was making you uncomfortable. If I had done so, please forgive me. They weren't my intentions." She said, bowing slightly before taking a step back from the woman, though she would have a slightly difficult time due to the shadow that was hugging her ankle.
