    Job Information:

    What a novel feeling. A city of self-righteous and unreliable user's of magic gather to get their own economy going. It almost seemed like a scream for individuality and autonomy. It was laughable to Lyserg, but what did he know. His thoughts were slandering as he stepped through the relatively cheap looking city. It was marketplace, and not lastly, a place where people could go about their dealings unnoticed. For Lyserg, this task was just another means to an end. It was a hassle, surely, but there was nothing he could do about it as of now. He would simply have to endure and find a way to complete this whilst getting out anonymously.

    He was now approaching a young looking humanoid female. Galunian, as she was, she looked rather bratty and reproachable. With a sigh in his mind, Lyserg rolled up and exchanged a couple of words. They discussed that the goods had to be brought to the other end of the black market, and the mercenaries that were supposed to protect the goods until the transfer into her hands was done were deemed shady and untrustworthy. For that purpose, Lyserg was hired. As her periodic bodyguard, he was supposed to overlook the exchange of goods to ensure that this would be a surefire success, and the legal executive didn't meddle around.

    The Rune Knights. Lyserg had read about them. Acting as the enforcers of the Magic Council's decisions, they were the main executive power and military strength of Fiore. They appeared to be weak however. Lyserg had informed himself about them, as he had informed himself about everything that happened in the past five centuries. From the young Galunian he was reported that in the organized crime scene they were still able to find loopholes and sneak in as their low profile harmed the underworld more than it did good. Often, spies were able to sneak in undercover because of the unexpectedness of such, especially for relatively small transfers such as the one they were supervising just now.

    As they slandered through the alleys of the black market, Lyserg stayed quiet. Interaction with a hot-headed mess like this client would prove to be mental torture. There was no use in inquiring about anything further. All he needed to know he had read in books. There was no substance to the black market. Not more than to the crowds of citizens that gathered to celebrate meaningless and insignificant people and events. Just like the majority of the legal, modern world, the black market seemed to be just as weak. It was exhausting to Lyserg to follow the girl around, but making another turn, they had arrived at the scene. Taking a look around, they were amidst containers. The guards carried swords. Trained men. Although their stances and general body mass revealed that they had quite a bit of flaws in combative skill. As they wore skin tight, casual clothing, likely to adapt to the environment they were in, Lyserg was able to read them quite clearly. Their stern appearances however, kept him guessing.

    The bratty client told Lyserg to stay back for a bit. As she approached them, Lyserg stood at a distance of about 6 meters, watching as the girl seemed to get upset. They were seemingly arguing about the worth of the goods and where they were going. The girl constantly stressed that it was a confidential shipment, and the guards claimed that they were required to know where it was going to confirm that she was the escort. Responding that it wasn't part of the contract, she exclaimed that the recipient being Galunian was the only signal they would need. Not budging however, the guards stayed determined. For now, Lyserg didn't really mind. As long as the payment was his, he couldn't care less about what would happen to the shipment.

    However, it wasn't until the girl gave out the name of her employer that Lyserg stood still and relaxed. The two guards suddenly jolted outwards in an explosion of magical presence. One of them grabbed the girls horns and slammed her head down to the floor getting on top of her. The other guard, ran towards Lyserg yapping about him being arrested for assistance towards illegal transactions of goods. It was then, that Lyserg's forehead riveled. It was a bothersome situation, and first as the guard manifested a blade of fire out of thin air, did Lyserg decide to take action. Simply activating his spell "Skript I", through nothing but thought, the world around him slowed down. Whilst there was a small time gap in which his senses became diluted, he entered a state of complete awareness. Everything was slower. One second would seem like twenty.

    Starting to perceive his surroundings again, the mage in front of him lunged in a straight line with a fire in the shape of a sword aiming for Lyserg's chest. Having enough time to devise the next reactions, Lyserg simply rotated his right leg by 180° and subsequently shifted his body's gravitational center allowing him to sidestep out of harm's way. Simultaneously, his right hand would grab for the stretched out left arm of the apparent guard, that was likely a Rune Knight, holding the flaming blade. Aiming for the man's wrist, Lyserg forced the man's action to come to a premature stop, forcing him down on his knees. Switching the grasping hand to his left, Lyserg wrapped his biceps around the guard's neck, cramming close. In that moment, the spell's effects wore off.

    As time began to become clearer again, Lyserg heard a battle cry from behind him. The second guard had pinned the Galunian girl down and was now dashing towards Lyserg. Being able to see from the corner of his eye, he noticed that the guard had a earthen sword. Activating his spell "Ruin I", and simultaneously lunging out his right leg for a kick, shifting his stance to weighten himself on his left leg, still grappling with the other Rune Knight attempting to choke him to death, the approaching guard would bring down his stone sword to attack Lyserg's kick. Sadly, the spell's effects completely negated the stone sword as it dissipated into dust whilst coming down, even taking parts of the Knight's cloth into oblivion as the kick hit his abdomen full on.

    The choked Rune Knight had his clothes starting to dissipate as well. Starting to become naked, and visibly surprised at the fact, Lyserg returned to his stance and now let go of the Knight's right arm, causing him to momentarily flail his still active, flaming blade around. His actions stemming from pure panic quickly came to an end as Lyserg used his own free arm to swiftly twist the man's neck. Falling to the ground, nearly naked, the man was dead. Standing up, Lyserg took a look at the Rune Knight he had just kicked to the floor. He was beginning to get up. But rigorously, Lyserg stomped over to him to quickly shove him to the ground once more to have him lie on his back. Then, he mercilessly brought his boot down to the man's face, causing a crack to echo through the clearing of containers, midst the labyrinth of crime.

    Getting his boot up, Lyserg scraped off the blood on the dead man's clothes, that were partially harmed by his "Ruin" spell as well. Looking over to the girl, he mustered her. She seemed somewhat nervous, a little frightened and eager to get out. She started to hiss at Lyserg to free him from the cuffs. As he did so, he noticed that the young girl was shivering. As soon as she was free, she hastily collected the shipment, a small amount to carry in total and commanded Lyserg to clean up the mess. As she quickly gave him the payment, she scuttled off, back into the labyrinth. It was likely that he wouldn't see her again. With an inner sigh, Lyserg moved himself to pick up the dead bodies. Laying them off in a container he forcefully opened, this would become someone else's problem. These were the moments in which he enjoyed the liberal society he found himself in.
