    DA JOB:

The train into town had left Kaligos sickened hardily able to move. His skin usually had a toughness too it, that simply wasn't there when things around him were in motion, and he hadily looked like he survived the train ride into town. Getting off the train was a hassle as it was difficult for him to move, and he just barely made it off the train in time for the thing to start moving again. Another mission with the Lamia Scale wizard Kara. If Kaligos wasn't careful his guild would start whispering behind his back that he wasn't loyal or something like that.

Kaligos sat on a bench trying his best to recover. They were on a town near the edge of the desert, a town Kaligos knew all too well actually. Years ago when his dragon had left him in the middle of a desert this was the town he had found after wondering for so long. It had taken him over a year to find his way out of the lost desert, and what was more surprising was that from there he had ended up joining Fairy Tail. This place was an in between zone, the place where his entire life had changed, and what was more was that this desert was the one he had grown up in.

Kaligos waited for Kara, sniffing the air lightly, the memories from years back washing over him for a moment. The scared child he was walking back from the desert, not understanding what a town was, or why there were suddenly so many other people in the world, when he had been raised in almost complete isolation with only his dragon for company. The signs with strange unreadable symbols that still dumbfounded him to this day. Kaligos let out a small sigh these weren't really the happiest memories he had of the world. Going back to how he had found out about this mission someone mentioning a job on the board involving massive sandstorms.

The first thought of course then was that it was his father. Sandstorms were a huge trait of the earth dragons, His father had wings so massive that he often started them just by taking off into the air, and then there was their roars. If Kaligos's was like a mini sandstorm then Kalixstraz's roar was 30 times that. Kaligos's bare feet kicked the ground slightly. He told everyone that he had long given up on ever seeing his father again. The two traveled so much that there was no real home that he could check, but this was the desert... the one he had been abandoned in, and there were random deadly sandstorms, it couldn't just be a coincidence right? Maybe just maybe Kaligos had a chance at finding Kalixstraz here. Maybe the sandstorms were his dad's way of making contact?

Then again... maybe it was just a fruitless treasure hunt.

Treasure Hunting with Kali and Kara (mission) Empty Re: Treasure Hunting with Kali and Kara (mission)

Post by Guest 22nd March 2014, 8:12 am

Kara had been doing many jobs lately with members of Fairy Tail. Remington and she had done some detective work in Clover Town quite recently, and before that it had been her and Kaligos searching through the Spooky Forest. Now she was to be teaming up with Kaligos again, but this time in yet another completely different environment; the forgotten deserts of Fiore, home to some of the most dangerous creatures and brutal thieves, yet also home to some of the most humble and friendly people in the world. It seemed the Fairy Tail guild certainly got around. Kara was just thankful that all of her jobs with Kaligos had so far been in outdoor environments.

Unfortunately her morning hadn't been quite so fortunate. She was supposed to catch the train from Hargeon to Magnolia and meet Kaligos from there so that she could try to ease his motion sickness. Unfortunately the train left just as she arrived, meaning that she had to wait a while for the next one. There was nothing worse than waiting around for a train. Still she felt worse as she knew Kaligos didn't cope well on transport at all and she couldn't help but feel she'd let him down a little, even if he hadn't actually known what she'd intended to do. The train was beginning to pull into her destination as she released a small sigh of both relief and self-disappointment. Her eyes looked to the windows, peering out in the hopes of seeing the blue-haired boy walking about the station as he waited. Unfortunately it seemed he'd left the station by now and was most likely checking out the town. This job was probably going to be tough on the Earth Slayer. Kara remembered him saying about his past, how he was raised in the desert wastelands somewhere in Fiore. It was even possible that this very desert was where he'd grown up.

The train finally came to a stop and Kara managed to slip her way to the door. What with how they were in a desert, she'd opted to wear a tanktop and shorts to keep herself cool, whilst also carrying a bag on her shoulder that contained a few bottles of water. She didn't know many details about the job of course, just that it was in the desert. Still, she was as prepared as she could be for now. Now she just had to find her friend...although to be honest, with his heightened senses he'd probably find her first. This was assuming he wasn't sidetracked of course. Still, she'd look for him regardless. With any luck he'd look a lot better than he did when they saw each other in Magnolia for their last job. It was odd but since then she'd been thinking about the younger mage a lot.

It's a peculiar feeling when you find yourself caring about someone without realising it...

Post by Kaligos 22nd March 2014, 8:58 am

Kaligos heard the arrival of the steam engine, smelled the thick oils of a train long before he actually went back towards the train station giving time for people to unload and clear out. The thick smell of a train station along with the powerful heat of the desert was playing with Kaligos's nose, and he was finding the smells of this particular place to be much more muted then normal. Even something as familiar as Kara's scent was astranged to him in this place, thankfully however his eyes were just as good as his nose, and Kara's unique purple hair stuck out like a sore thumb among the crowds.

Kaligos smiled as he walked up to her, giving a small wave. "One of these days we need to start a mission with you actually finding me." Kaligos gave a large over dramatic bow for a moment. Kaligos was looking much better since their last encounter. In truth he was feeling better than ever, a few days bed rest, after there last encounter together and he had perked up. Gone was the paranoia, and mind destroying fear, replaced again with his usual optimism and destructive care free nature. Kaligos smiled brightly his violet eyes looking over Kara, suddenly very appreciative of the hot weather. Though of course he tried his best to hide what was clearly written across his face. In the end it was clear that Kaligos was in much higher spirits, and person then he was before. He had been thinking about Kara a lot since the last few times they worked together, and he always enjoyed finding an excuse for the two of them to run side by side even if they were from separate guilds.

"I've done some scouting around town, but I couldn't actually find the crazy ranter that we were supposed to talk too before heading out. It's harder to hear and smell things out here, the sand absorbs a lot of the sound vibration, and the heat messes with my nose. Not to mention... the signs may as well be alien to me." Kaligos's shoulders slumped for a moment. It wasn't that he didn't want to learn how to read, it was that he was far too embarrassed to bring it up. So far Kara was the only one who knew the 'dark' secret about him, and he was afraid that if he brought it up to someone that could potentially teach him he would be laughed out of the guild.

"Still my guild mates were talking about this job, apparently there have been a lot of unnatural sandstorms in the area, along with monster sightings, and aside from killing a bunch of people, and digging up some treasure, Kara... There is only one monster I know that causes Sand storms. It has to be him." Kaligos was practically shaking with excitement far beyond what he usually was. He was always energetic, but this time he seemed to be bouncing off the walls. "The earth dragon! My dad is here!"

Treasure Hunting with Kali and Kara (mission) Empty Re: Treasure Hunting with Kali and Kara (mission)

Post by Guest 7th May 2014, 10:44 am

Kaligos was certainly looking considerably better than he had done the last time the duo had worked together as he approached with a small wave, which allowed Kara to put herself at ease. She could still see his panic stricken expression from time to time when they were back in the Spooky Forest, and the way he had momentarily feared her. The idea that something could terrify her friend so much...it was shocking beyond words.

She put the thought out of her mind now though and instead focused on what Kaligos was saying, although that was difficult given that he was talking at about one hundred miles an hour. From what the molding mage could gather, Kaligos had been unable to find the 'crazy ranter' that they needed to meet with for the job, but then again a ton of people had just gotten off of the train. Perhaps they'd have more luck now that the walkways were clearer.

But it wasn't this that seemed to have the younger Earth Slayer excited. Apparently the sandstorms and deaths in the area were completely unnatural, something Kara hadn't expected. As Kaligos continued to talk, Kara slowly began to piece together what he was getting to. Before she could say anything he blurted out the words she knew he would; "The earth dragon! My dad is here!" The amethyst haired maiden looked Kaligos in the eye. The excitement was almost intoxicating, but she knew that there was a chance that maybe, just maybe, it wasn't Kaligos' father. It could well be something completely unrelated, but whatever the case it wasn't natural whichever way it was looked at. It almost broke her heart as she spoke. "That's great news Kali but...don't go getting your hopes up too much...I mean..." she began, then sighed. She couldn't go through with it. She couldn't break the boy's heart like that. "He might be in hiding. After all there are a lot of people here. You might not actually be able to see him." she said softly, but smiled all the same. "But then again, maybe you will...there's only one way to find out, right?" she said with a grin, before grabbing Kaligos' hand and running out of the train station.

As they exited Kara was hit by the sunlight, causing her to shield her eyes for a moment. "Wow...it's no wonder you didn't find the man we're after if the sun was as blinding as this earlier..." she mumbled, slowly opening her eyes to allow them to adjust to the change in light. She glanced around and listened intently to see or hear their client. However the streets were insanely busy even despite the blazing hot weather. "Do you have a name or any kind of a rough location for our client?" she asked her partner.

Treasure Hunting with Kali and Kara (mission) Empty Re: Treasure Hunting with Kali and Kara (mission)

Post by Kaligos 8th May 2014, 12:17 pm

Kaligos could pretty much feel the doubt coming off of Kara, it was a little painful to see that she didn't believe him, though she was quick to rationalize her thoughts, and while he wanted to push those thoughts aside, he couldn't. Kaligos didn't go out searching for his father, he had been abandoned in this desert, left to fend for himself alone for almost a year, it had been the most painful year in his life, both physically and mentally as it was the first time he had ever truly been alone. By the time he had dragged himself into the city he had been little more then a desperate decaying corpse, unable to read, he even had difficulty remembering how to speak after all he hadn't used that ability in almost a year. It had been more painful than he had ever wanted to be, and Kaligos had to admit to himself that part of himself was probably still broken. Now however he had a chance, it was a slim chance, but a chance to hear what his father had to say for himself. A chance to introduce his father to Kara and show him that he had survived the most painful test he had ever gone through.

Little did he know that test was far from over.

Kaligos blinked hearing that Kara was having problems adjusting her eyes. He blinked looking out into the shining golden abiss that was the desert town. His eyes automatically adjusting to the sever brightness, If Kara had the chance to look at his face she would have seen that his eyes actually looked far more like a dragon. This was after all the environment of an earth dragon, it was only natural that he had no problems functioning in it, even if he didn't now why. Kaligos gave an odd look towards Kara. "Here let me help."

Kaligos left for a moment walking away from Kara and down the street finding a small tourest shop he was gone for all of a minute, but returned to Kara with a pair of sunglasses, they were small thin frames, that were even colored Purple. It hadn't taken him long to pick out the pair considering they matched her hair color. In his other hand he held the tag, as they weren't all that expensive, but there were a few zero's that looked out of place considering they were just sunglasses."The store owner called them focus shades, they are supposed to adjust to the amount of sunlight, and apply the appropriate amount of protection... how ever that works." He said handing them to her.

"It's not really a gift.... it's just for the mission you know." He said rather defensively for a moment handing them to her. He didn't know why but he felt he had to justify such a purchase even if it was a non item.

As they two returned to the focus of the mission he let out a long sigh. "The person who read the mission to me also said that the client was recently let out of the hospital, so it might be smart if we started with that. If nothing else they would have the clients information on record. He's supposed to be some kind of traveling merchant right?"

Post by Guest 18th May 2014, 2:31 pm

Kara knew she'd probably hurt Kaligos' feelings. That wasn't her intention of course, but she had to at least try to keep his head clear. Yet as he walked away she couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt and worried that perhaps he'd left her here to do the job alone. It wasn't until he returned a few moments later that she felt a wave of relief wash over her; he'd noticed her struggling to see and had gone and bought her some sunglasses. She couldn't help but blush slightly at the purple frames as she realised he'd actually put some thought into what pair to get her. The Earth Dragon quickly went on the defensive though, claiming it wasn't a gift. Kara shook her head violently and looked back at him. "N-no I know that! I wasn't thinking anything like that! I'll give you the money for them once this job is over!" she retorted, equally as defensive as he had been. After an awkward couple of seconds Kara released a sigh. "Except I don't know how much they were...you're smarter than people give you credit for..." she mumbled.

She put the sunglasses over her eyes as Kaligos began to explain about the client a little more, seemingly slightly disheartened by the fact they'd not yet been able to start the mission. Apparently the client had been at the hospital recently. When the Fairy Tail mage suggested heading there, Kara nodded in response. "I was about to say the same thing. We may also find others who've seen or been in the sandstorms. They could have some details that would be incredibly useful for us." She looked around at the town again now, able to see much better with the sunglasses on. "...thanks." she added quickly. If Kaligos missed it then that was his problem. She'd felt nervous enough saying it that time. She nervously tucked some of her amethyst hair behind her ear as she continued to look around for the hospital, but to no avail as she realised that a hospital out here would probably be very different to those in the cities and towns of Fiore. Kara looked back over to Kaligos and sighed.

"Well...you'll need to lead the way Kaligos. You know this area better than me..." she said softly, smiling in the hopes to cheer him up. "I'll keep an eye out for any signs that lead the way there too." she added, before taking a couple of steps forward, hoping Kaligos would walk with her. All the while though she was curious. "You guildmates...did they say what kinds of monsters were appearing in the desert? It's just...it's good to know exactly what we're up against." The last thing she wanted was a repeat of that Spooky Forest incident again. If the creatures were anything like that, she was going to have to give Kaligos some of her magic to keep his head focused.

Post by Kaligos 10th June 2014, 3:08 pm

Kaligos let out a small but satisfied grin when Kara said he was smarter then what most people took him for. It was true actually most people took him for a brute who simply used force to over come his problems, and they were right about that, but the other side that he didn't let others see as often was his more thoughtful side. All be it in this case it was just finding a way to have Kara silently owe him, but it was still worth every single Jewel he spent on those glasses. Now as they walked towards the hospital he gave a small nod and kept an arrogant grin across his face he couldn't help it that he was currently feeling like he was just on top of the world. They were dealing with an earth dragon, no they were dealing with the earth dragon, and he was on a mission with Kara nothing could have been better then those two facts combined. Even being back in this desert, this awful place where he had been abandoned by his father and left alone to survive for almost a year even that couldn't hold back his spirit at the moment because his father was out there.

All in all when she did thank him he was sure to catch it, his hearing easily being able to pick up the quietest murmur. "I'm sorry could you repeat that last part I didn't really catch it, like you mumbled something." The shit eating grin on his face telling her that he more then caught her words, but still tried to get away with asking her to repeat them.

"No they didn't say anything along those lines. The only details we have about the monsters was that there was a lot of sand storms and unnatural activity in the area. I lived in this desert for almost a year, and while I will admit to having seen a lot of things the only one that could cause as much destruction was an earth dragon." He said still confident that what they were going to find out there was his father, but in all honesty Kaligos knew the truth. There were things out in this desert that could mold sand to their will, dangerous things that he had spent a great portion of his childhood running from, the sand was vast and full of terrors, and there were a number of things that could cause damage destroy caravans and raid them for shiny things. How often had he ended up facing near annihilation? The truth was he had lost count in many ways. There was no way to actually count the vast number of creatures, but an earth dragon was all of those and more. That was why Kaligos was here, to find the dragon.

He was silent as they walked into the hospital and found the old mans room. They said he was half mad from sun exposure and scorpion venom. He smiled at that comment. "We are both immune to venom's so that can't be too much of a problem right?" He bracing himself slightly. "Okay Old man, we are the mages you hired, I would like it if you could tell us everything you know."

Treasure Hunting with Kali and Kara (mission) Empty Re: Treasure Hunting with Kali and Kara (mission)

Post by Guest 22nd June 2014, 4:50 am

"It doesn't matter!" The Lamia Scale maiden's words were quick and sharp, not wanting Kaligos to hear her thanking him again. The grin on his face suggested he'd already heard her. Great, now her cheeks had flushed red, although at least she could claim that was due to the sun for the time being and hopefully Kali would forget about it once the job got underway. Indeed this seemed to be the case as he began talking about the deserts he'd grown up in, stating that the only creature capable of doing what had been stated was none other than his father, an Earth Dragon. Again that twinge of doubt stuck in Kara's mind. It's not that she didn't want it to be the Earth Dragon. She'd have loved nothing more than to see Kaligos finally meet his father again, regardless of how scary being face to face with a dragon might be. No, she just felt that something was amiss.

Kara didn't have time to dwell on this matter though as the pair entered the room of an old man, apparently the man who'd survived the dangers of the desert and had sent out the job request. Unfortunately when Kaligos asked for more information the pair were met mostly with incoherent shouts, with the occasional words being decipherable as 'Scorpions', 'Lizards' and 'My cargo'. Despite his maddened state it was clear the man was upset as a tear trickled down his cheek. Whatever had attacked him out in the desert had seemingly taken something of value - besides his sanity that is - and Kara assumed that he'd requested wizards to come and retrieve them. "Kali...if this is true then we need to be careful. Even if your father is out there we need to focus on the task at hand or we'll end up like this poor man." she spoke softly, looking at her partner with worried eyes. Immune to poison or not, they'd still be food to the various beasts of the sands if they took their eyes off the ball for too long. "We need to find this man's treasures first...then we can look for your father a while. At least then if we get into a difficult situation we can always run back having achieved what we came here to do."

She bowed at the old man and kneeled down in front of him, smiling warmly. "We'll do what we can sir...I promise. Please be patient and focus on your recovery." Her demeanour seemed to please the man who smiled back, albeit slightly slantily, before attempting to nod and speak. His words were still incredibly slurred as a result of the scorpion venom, but Kara assumed it was a thank you or something along those lines.

Post by Kaligos 7th July 2014, 10:00 am

Kaligos couldn't help but smirk at the protest of his closest friend, and the woman whom he held the strongest feelings for. It was a little odd knowing that they were both of different guilds. It was kind of sad to know that if there was ever tension between Lamia Scale and Fairy Tail that he would have to defend his own guild, no matter how oddly hostile they had been acting lately. Turning he hid his thoughts as best as he could as he walked out of the hospital back into the bright day, his eyes adjusting and once again taking on their dragonic slits instead of round pupils helping to better filter through the heavy sunlight.
“Your going to need water.” There were a few oasis in this desert but Kaligos wasn't really sure if he would be able to find them again. He sighed knowing full well that his father could have raised that caravan, but at the same time didn't want to admit that was what his father had been like. Koralistrasz was never exactly one to like humans, in fact he had seemed to dispise all of them. Aside from Kaligos's training being far more abusive then most other dragon slayers out there he could think of a few times where they had avoided people, and his father had been less then happy with them.

Then again Koralistrasz was a dragon, Kaligos was not as much as he liked to think that he was Kaligos was a dragon's proxy, and most people still believed that Dragons were extinct. So rare that most had never seen them. He let out a long sigh maybe there was some truth to that. While he didn't think that they were gone completely Kaligos had never seen any other dragons. He pushed the thought of dragons, guilds and Kara's fine... ~No bad Kaligos!~ Keeping his mind centred on the here and now.

Getting ready to walk out into the waists he took a deep breath feeling the scorched air, and stepped forward his bare feet leaving the burning ash-fault of the town and stepping into the burning golden sand of the desert. It was like crossing a boundary between two countries. This place was his world, and being back was both haunting and refreshing.

“Should I mention that the last time I was in this place, I got lost for the better half of two years?”

He asked knowing full well that by doing so he was mentioning the very thing he was asking about. It created this odd paradox where he had given her important information about his own failure without it actually feeling like he had mentioned his worst failure. Walking out into the sand his skin didn't even seem to notice the heat of the sand. Walking out into the desert road there all seemed rather peaceful, but it wasn't going to last that way. Kaligos knew this place. Everything in this desert was going to try and kill them one way or another. “We can try to stick to the caravan roads, but with the sand storms in the area those will be partly buried.”

Wow it was hot. Too hot. In that short time spent in the hospital it seemed the temperature had risen greatly, helped by the clear skies and the sun that was now perched at the very middle of the sky as if it were mocking the insect-sized men and women working below. Kaligos' mention of water was certainly a good suggestion as Kara was already beginning to feel rather toasty. "Lots of water." she replied with a sigh, bringing her hand up over her eyes to shelter them from the glaring rays that were just about filtering over the top of her sunglasses. "Maybe a parasol too..." she added, before heading to a nearby market stall to purchase them.

Naturally Kaligos had to say something that would catch her attention though, as he announced he had been lost in the desert for around two years last time he'd been here. The Lamia Scale mage turned to face her teammate with a scowl, her eyes seeming to glow red through her shades. "If we get lost in there then I will make you wish you'd never been born." she warned as she took her new parasol and her water and walked towards the desert, leaving Kaligos to catch up to her.

The trek into the desert hadn't taken long, although this was hardly surprising given how close the village was. The sand was blustering about, although it certainly wasn't as strong as it could have been. Nonetheless it was difficult for the amethyst haired mage to see anything, meaning she had to rely on Kaligos to direct her...which, considering he'd been lost here before, wasn't something she did happily. Her discomfort about his guidance only grew as she found herself flung to face-first into the sand as the ground where she was stepping off of suddenly rose. She turned around in time to see a tail fly out before receiving a smack across the face that threw her a few feet across the ground and leaving her dazed for a moment from the sudden attack. Unfortunately this meant the serpentine figure of the basilisk was now headed straight for her as it saw her as the easy target. Even in her daze though Kara knew she had to defend herself. She staggered up to her feet and put her hands down by right side.

"Amethyst Make; Silent Assassin!" she yelled out, creating the long, thin Katana and swinging it in an upwards motion while stepping to the left, hoping to hit the basilisk but mostly just trying to ensure she herself wasn't caught by another attack. Fortunately the blade met its mark - albeit not really dealing considerable damage - and the serpent was flung back to where it had risen from. Unfortunately it was now incredibly pissed off.

Treasure Hunting with Kali and Kara (mission) Empty Re: Treasure Hunting with Kali and Kara (mission)

Kaligos nodded at Kara's words. Honestly Kara wouldn't have to make him wish that he was never born if they were lost in this wild desert for any amount of time he would go mad. That alone was incentive enough for him to be able to keep track of where they had come from. The moment his feet stepped into the hot sand a million instincts that he had developed over the years of hell that he had suffered in this place had returned to him. It was amazing what simply putting one's self back into their element was capable of doing.

Kaligos took a deep breath as he walked along side Kara for a moment. He could smell the apprehension around her. There were the signs of fear on her as well that worried him. Kaligos wasn't exactly the sharpest people person so if he was noticing things like that it meant Kara was wearing it on her sleeves and not hiding her emotions. Stepping over the ground he wondered if he should honestly bring it up with Kara. She seemed too tense for her own good and if she didn't loosen up then... He paused for a moment feeling the sand under him shift subtly.

Kaligos hadn't been in a desert for a long time, partly out of a hatred for his roots, and partly because he never wanted to go back, so his instincts for the terrain no matter how good they were once upon a time were difficult to keep in check. As such when Kara accidentally walked over a basilisk Kaligos didn't have the chance to react nearly as quickly as he should have watching Kara get thrown around and attacked by the serpent creature. When the first round was settled and Kara was tossed aside and dazed Kaligos jumped at the large creature. "No!"

In an instant his hands were replaced with crystalline claws, which dug into the serpents skin. Punching it hard with rock like fists. A part of him had forgotten all about the dangerous animals that had once upon a time made his life a living hell in this place. Just because he was immune to poisons didn't make the creatures here any less dangerous now as they were back then. Beating the Basilisk down into the sand he punched it several times as one of it's claw's held the back of it's neck.

"Bad basilisk no eating my friend." Kaligos tried his best to remain calm even as he managed to throw the creature away from the two of them even further. The snake like lizard was able to sink it's claws into Kaligos slightly and instantly Kaligos felt a burning sensation on his skin but the creature turned tail burrowing back into the sand where it had came from and running away.

Kaligos breathed heavily for a moment putting up his hands as he shivered in annoyance. Feeling slightly burned as things progressed. "Kara! Are you hurt? It didn't bite you did it?" Poison resistant or not Kaligos did not want to have to treat a basilisk bite. They were not pleasant and rather painful to deal with. "I wasn't expecting to deal with the wild life right now... they mostly only come out at night... mostly."
