“< [text] >” Denotes translation of foreign language.  To increase accuracy,  an actual translator was used.  In this instance the origin language is Lithuanian.

Any B-rank or less mage who enters this topic beware,  I intend to play Clementine as accurately as possible which means if you enter you may be unlikely to leave without at least some major burn scars.  Clementine rarely lets people live after a confrontation without reason.

3:20 AM | Monday | Just outside Hargeon

The grizzled old voice of the trainmaster broke the monotonous clanking of the train’s wheels over the tracks that had been lulling Penelope to sleep despite her resistance.

She bolted upright,  embarrassed that she finally gave in despite the late hour.   She had to take a late train in order to surprise her boyfriend, Martin, before he left early in the morning,  being sent on mission from Lamia Scale to the foreign kingdom of Enca.

He wouldn’t tell her why he had to go, but he had to leave early and she had little warning.   There was no way Penelope would let him leave so suddenly without saying farewell.

“Approaching Hargeon,  five minutes until arrival.”   The trainmaster announced,   an early warning for passengers to get ready to get off the train so they don’t miss their stop.

Penelope appreciated it,  in five more minutes she’d probably have been too sound asleep to notice.   She clutched her overly large purse in her hands,   it contained all she could throw together on her way out the door to catch the train before it left.

She gazed out the window over the port town of Hargeon,  watching it draw near.   It was a major transportation center and saw a lot of travelers,  as such the place was always alight at night with all the nightowls and graveyard shift  employees making the most of the town’s nightlife.

As light as it was,   Penelope observed a bright light in the sky.  It started as a pinpoint beyond her notice,  but it grew in the distance.  Capturing her attention she squinted uselessly to try to get a better look at it through the window.

It seemed to be picking up speed the closer it got until there was a streak of light and a faint rumble in the distance where it appeared to impact the city near the docks as far as she could tell…  or right around the Guild Hall where Martin was.

Confused and not sure what to believe,  or if she could trust her senses through the drowsiness,   Penelope  anxiously waited for the train to stop.

3:30 AM | Monday | Lamia Scale Guild Hall

A small crowd of wary mages, many still in pajamas, had already gathered around the small crater that now pocketed the cobblerock courtyard between the main entrance to the grounds and the wide double doors of the main building,  the big refurbished cathedral that towered over most buildings,  particularly all those other buildings of the Docks district.

Within the crater was the smoking form of a woman with long black hair that lay wildly about her.   A very simple white cloth had survived the fall and kept her modest,  and was a stark contrast not only to her deep black hair,   but to the great smouldering feathered wings that were spread wide beneath her.

The obvious thoughts were that this woman must be an angel fallen from the heavens,  her wings blackened in the fiery crash.

Several people tried to approach,  to help the woman,  but were held back by cautious others who pointed out that the woman appeared undamaged,   and the observant one before them all,  who noticed the rippling in the air around the woman and the blackening of the ground around her that crept further and further away from the crater.

“Step away!” Martin demanded, and the other mages listened.  He was respected well enough among his guildmates,  and they trusted his insight.

“Stephen,  go wait by the distress call.  If you hear trouble,  hit it.    Marcus,  you go stand by the Void Shield access.”  Marcus looked at Martin as though he were insane.  The Void Shield was a powerful last resort sort of deal.  But Martin was left in charge of managing the Guild Hall while the higher ups were out for reasons unknown.

Today was his last day on the job,  and he wasn’t going to take any risks.   An apparent angel falling from the sky in the middle of the night?  Aint nobody got time for that.

    ---------------------------------------------------------

< We have arrived. > The serious,  almost robotic voice of Stygil confirmed,  breaking through the silence of Clementine’s mind they shared.

< Predictions were correct, this planet is not only to live, but has the human population >.    Clementine,  being use to her state of “sleep”,  was slow to reply and did not awaken to confirm for herself.

< Culture .... and progress? > She asked the voice.

< Civilized,  I notice a pre-modern style to the surroundings.   I think it resembles a religious building shared by early humans prior to significant technological achievements  but at the same time,   there are aspects that seem… irregular.  It is very likely that people are without some form of development, which would allow for more advanced methods of construction. I think they are designed to use the magic >.

With her interest greatly piqued,  Clementine wasted no further time and reached out to feel her body,  regaining her senses and consciousness.

The sensory input was somewhat jarring at first,  she’d spent so long in Withdrawal.  An important aspect of traveling the vastness of space,  time,   it takes thousands of years to travel on her own.

Without advanced spatial distortions or time loopholing,  Clementine had to resort to traveling in a state of sensory withdrawal and slowed mental activity,   to avoid going bat shit insane from the passage of vast amounts of time- incredibly boring time-.

Even so,  as her senses came back to her she could feel the tingle in her nerves- in a manner of speaking,  as she did not have organic nerves-,  the giddiness that flooded her.    She could finally do something.

She could barely contain herself,  the urge,  the impulse,  the desire to exert herself.    Without waiting to fully reconnect to her material self,  the drive to act pushed her to awaken early.

Her eyes snapped open and her fingers clutched at the ground,  clasping fistfulls of dirt.   Her body writhed on the ground while she struggled to force herself to move before her body was ready to.

Her wings lifted off the ground in an attempt to beat them,   and slammed back down to the ground several times kicking up dust.    She could hear shouts around her,   and knew that she wasn’t alone.   People.   Humans.

A lust crept through her core,   oh how she had missed humans.    So fun to play with.   A new motivation filling her and her systems coming back to life,   Clementine managed to sit up and drag herself up the side of the crater she lay in.

Her eyes were closed but she could see clearly.   The shapes of each of the bipedal animals around her.   She stared at them through her closed eyelids,  the black winged angel,   paused there taking in the sight.

< full rehabilitation reached >,  Sygil sounded,  and Clementine’s hands shot forward to into the cobblestone and fling herself forward with her wings reaching forward to beat against the air and carry her further,  a blaze of blinding flames shot out from her body to envelop them.

She grabbed at the first human amid a flurry of spells,   a variety of bolts and a few precious little shields in a parade of colors,  fires,  frosts,  lights and shadows all.   A magical race indeed.   The spells rippled inches from her body and were repelled back at their casters,  many getting caught unexpectedly.

None seemed to have the power enough to harm her barrier.   They shouted and called out in a strange language, as to be expected.   She’d learn their tongue later,  but for now…   centuries of withdrawal and sheer boredom demanded compensation and damn anyone who would get in her way.

Clementine held out her right hand and with a glimmer of sapphire light the ring on her hand morphed into an obsidian-like gauntlet with sharp clawed fingers.

Her now armed hand ripped into the chest of the man she had pinned,   she went for satisfaction over speed but it was still a quick death,  she did have plenty other toys after all.

She soaked in the screams of agony before ripping out the heart of her first victim.  She held it to her chest and smiled.  If she had tear ducts she might have shed a tear over the beauty of the moment.

Clementine clenched her hand and shredded the heart then with a snap of her fingers a burst of heat rushed out from her position,   singing the flesh of all those around her,  reddening their skin and causing a few small blisters to form on the particularly sensitive.    Oh the release,  did it feel fantastic.

There was no way she’d stop there with that little trick.  Scaling it up, she threw her power towards her hands.   Directing a flood of nuclear power she concentrated it into the form of two atomic models that burned like little stars.

When the models were complete Clementine slammed her hands together,   making the models collide.   The result was explosive as the two collapsed on each other to create a small explosion that sent a shockwave surging out in all directions.

The result burned the humans further,  but most satisfying to her was the sight of the radiation wave bathing everything around her as far as she cared to see in it’s light.

To her vision she could see the wave clearly altering the radiation map of her surroundings.    So satisfying was it to witness,   Clementine looked up to face the sky,  laughing gleefully as the many uncountable pinpoints of radiation- stars - looked back down on her through her closed eyes.

The humans couldn’t comprehend the sensation of expressing her power after thousands of years without anything to do but keep hurtling forward through space on some hunch that there might be life on the end.

    But there was a nuisance.

The sky,  the stars above her,  that was the last thing she wanted to see.   She was sick of space and she landed at night,  she wanted to witness the day.     She couldn’t force the sun to rise,  but she could force the light of day upon this land.

Ignoring the pathetic little attempts to harm her by the little humans around her,  though some of the humans had ran off.  Presumably to cower in fear or get people more capable.

She’d welcome anyone more skilled than these pests.  Someone to liven the night up.   Where was the welcoming party!   They were neglecting their guest.

Regardless of any hospitality on their part,   Clementine held out her hands and bombarded the air between her palms with radiation,  collecting it,  molding it.   Another atomic model formed,  this one rapidly grew in intensity to a large size before she stopped fueling it and the burning ball violently imploded,   a great beam of light shot high into the sky,  and the other end buried into the earth like it wasn’t there.

Moments later,  a loud siren screamed it’s warning from the top of the building.
An alarm.   That was fucking perfect!  Clementine’s eyes lit up and she laughed ecstatically  or rather,  it was something of a giggle really.

“< Excellent! Let's call your betters ... Let me see what you do to me! >” She shouted out in her native language.   Her gauntlet shifted,  plates clinking and reorganizing,  extending outward to form a cannon taking form over her arm.

She fired her weapon at the scrambling humans as she lifted herself up off the ground with a beat of her shining wings.  Starting with those the furthest from her, each hit impacted with a satisfying thud as the high intensity bursts of energy hit like a wrecking ball.   Soon.

They wouldn’t sound their alarm like that if there wasn’t something more capable to summon to their ‘rescue’.   Be it some form of military,   or some lone hero.  Let them come.

3:30 AM | Monday | Rune Knight Outpost

Rune Knights ran all over the place taking up arms, preparing themselves for any possible danger. Even though they couldn't see what they were up against, but that didn't matter. Because they knew what ever made the old council man at their base feel unease, was more then enough reason.
They never had seen him like this before, they were just swapping some stories with the old man. And inquired him about some stories they had heard about him, until someone pointed at a light in the sky. At first they had laughed about it, cracking jokes and making fun of the one who actually thought it was a falling star. Till they noticed that the elder council man had fallen silent, and when they focussed their attention towards him they saw his worrisome face. And his hands that almost gave off a white look from clenching on a cane.

He had never felt this kind of energy before, the sudden surge of power that appeared out of nothing. But one thing was sure, that it was a raw and terrifying strength. And if not met with proper counter action, bound to be out of control. But even so the power that Harland felt was immense it was also something that he couldn't neglect. As a member of the council it was his duty find out what caused this.
So he flew down the stairs as quickly as he could for his age and met up with the Rune Knight squadron that was station at the outpost. Who already made preparations, each of them suited up into a heavy armor. With a silent nod towards the men he gave the signal to head out. That was being answered with the synchronized sound of steel armors that marched forwards. And Harland could only hope that they were still in time before the entire town would be eradicated.

There was plenty to do until any threats arrived,  and Clementine was perfectly content to wreck havoc among her little play things until they got here.

It pulse after pulse the more or less insignificant humans were crushed,   leaving smears of blood and cloth with broken corpses where the mages fell to her cannon as they attempted to flee.

With her atomic eyes,  though Clementine had yet to open her eyes since arriving -the thought hadn't even crossed her mind yet- she could see more humans inside the building.

Many were scrambling,  a few weren't effected by her radiation bursts yet due to the stone expanse of the cathedral like building.   Many rooms with windows were already overtaken with the radiation,  but the fact was that there were humans still within.

Clementine flew a circle around the building,  just remaining mobile as she observed the behaviors and actions taken by the remaining mages.

< I would guess this cathedral houses the magical.   Perhaps they're something of a religious phenomena here,  and are worshiped or at least held as sacred? > Stygil suggested.

The building was grand,  far more grand than most all other buildings she could notice with a passing glance out at the rest of the small city.

< If such is the case, then all the more thrilling when nothing but a hole in the ground remains of this place > Clementine's reply seethed,  such violence not mirroring the joyous expression she wore.

She wasn't oblivious to the fact that light was usually associated with hope and life,  neither was she oblivious to the similarities in appearance she shared with "angels".

Angels were a common representation of divinity and salvation,   and judging from the several angel motifs she'd seen around this cathedral she knew the humans of this world shared a similar view.

The amusement she gained from these associations was endless.   It is something that has never and was unlikely to ever grow old,   and she was greatly pleased that the humans here shared this symbolism.

After having encircled the building once,   Clementine picked out the highest concentration of mages,  many of them were gathered in one room and she could see those who were likely more capable mages than the majority of them rush around the building guiding others,  and standing protectively about that room.

One of the mages,  a man,  seemed to be shouting directions while two mages were... opening a door to a tunnel.   An escape tunnel!  How quaint.

Of course most notable establishments especially in archaic civilizations had tunnels leading to safety,   especially within elaborate religious buildings,  or places of government.   But for Clementine,  this was only more fun.  Like shooting fish in a barrel.

She collected radiation within her cannon and it expanded into a sphere with orbiting rings around it.  The sphere grew until it was the size of a person over a few seconds and she fired the big ball of energy towards the building.

This ball wasn't bright and shining like most the others.  This one was radiation generating large amounts of heat and it's form was such that it passed through the cathedral's walls,  microwaving every human it passed through from the inside out.

Few mages could suspect an attack like this shooting through the walls like a ghost.    Clementine was already on the move,   and when the Creeping Sun had achieved it's peak,  it rebounded and flew back towards her.

Her new position allowed the Creeping Sun to pass through the main crowed of humans a second time,   while hitting a small group of stragglers in a different location.

The screams she could hear as their flesh melted...   Clementine shivered,   each note of pain stimulated her in a way long over due.  Her free hand went to her chest,  but she stopped herself.  She felt alive again.

A small gasp of pleasure left her lips as the Creeping Sun disappeared through her body,  carrying with it the echos of the suffering it had just wrought.   She cast her eyes through the building once more.

There were survivors.  Most of those left were hiding in closets and under beds,  with a handful scattered about running about the halls,  then there were those who were caught by the Creeping Sun.  Most perished,  but plenty were left barely alive or were rendered helpless by pain and internal injury from getting essentially microwaved.

    Oh poor dearies.

They'll have their turn soon.   Clementine's eyes looked to the stars,  where a large ball of light could be seen ever growing by the second up where the beam of light near by pointed.

To most viewers it would look like the a second sun come to brighten the night and cast the light of day upon the land.    Clementine could see that the town was lit up by an increase in vibrancy of everything,  but she was otherwise unaffected.  The daylight was a useless feature to her,  as she could see fine without.

Clementine brushed her fingers against her lips.   They had blood on them,  from that man she assaulted more directly earlier.  She enjoyed the smell of it.  The smell of the living, now dead.

Taking a big breath of air,  much more of a habit as she didn't even have lungs,  and with a pleased sigh turned to look at the rest of the city as she stroked her arm cannon.  This...  this cathedral was doomed to become a crater.  She just needed to wait around a little longer.   But she could still wreck hell on the surrounding buildings from here.

Post by beets 7th November 2013, 3:44 pm

With her beacon burning furiously behind her,  Clementine's wings beat leisurely at the air keeping her in position above the cathedral with the falling star of hers looming overhead was growing at a steady pace ready to incinerate whatever it may.

Clementine didn't pay heed to it,  she instead just kept within range of the beacon while she scanned the town and it's surroundings  with closed eyes and as far as she could see for important structures and formations.

She could see some minor farms,  but otherwise the town was likely to be supported mostly on trade.   She could tell that this was a port town,  with many docks and ships both in harbor and out to sea,  meanwhile...  she could see a train.  A train was pulling out of the town.   A train.

< A peculiar thing, isn't it? > Stygil started.  < It's not medieval after all. > The statement was punctuated by a peculiar explosion,  odd in that she couldn't place the type of explosion quite but she could tell well enough that it was directed as though down a barrel.

Reactively,  Clementine swirled in a twister of blazing feathers as the predicted projectile hurled itself past her in time with her movement as though in slow motion.  She could see it wasn't a cannon ball,  but a shell.

She could see the hallowed interior with what she assumed as an explosive payload.  Then no further than a meter from her person, the shell exploded.

With such little warning,  a lesser being might have been hit.   But with an almost instantaneous bolt,  Clementine had shunted herself away from the threat in a flicker of light.

Pissed that she was almost caught like such,   she made the connection that the people of this world were neither infantile in their mechanics and technology but a magic-bearing race.

She would not underestimate them again.

Clementine's aura blazed intensely as her fighting spirit flared moments before repeated bursts of cannon fire filled the air.  The source was down in the streets,  where dozens of men in uniforms lined the streets,  with eight cannons she could see.

The cannons shared similarities between modern artillery cannons but crossed with older Renaissance-esque cannons.  Heavy metal structures obviously of excellent and intelligent craftsmanship set on thick wooden platforms with two large wheels at the sides and smaller wheels towards the back.

They had sights and a very fluid control over the cannon for aiming.  A sharp contrast to the spear-armed military personnel dressed in ineffective looking armor.

< Perhaps they are all trained in magic and used the spears as a focus? > Stygil said, trying to make sense of the people here.  Such a hodge-podge of eras.

There was still the matter of the cannons.  Proximity cannons.   Obviously useful against a flying target as they didn't have to hit what they were aiming at,  just hit near enough.   It was more likely to be a product of magic than any fancy wiring.

A wonderful use of magic.    But she'd show them a better one.    Evading the first volley,   actually having to focus on avoiding the things,  but thankfully they lacked velocity and she was able to keep far enough that the explosions couldn't harm her barrier.

Once it was over after a few seconds,  Clementine emerged from a cloud of smoke and held out a hand,  palm up.   In the air above her palm she generated an expanding ball of energy that ruptured,  dividing into three.

Those three divided into three.  And those.   And so on.   A hail of blazing spheres pounded the military force below her pummeling the earth and buildings where they stood in waves.   It was over in a few seconds, casting a great plume of dust and other particulates into the air.

Through the plume she could see the rubble and broken bodies,   the remains of cannons and the coating of blood that splashed the area around each of the corpses.

A significant chunk of buildings was effected.  It wasn't a fine rubble,  but the buildings were all in ruins now and she could see the bodies of people inside and under chunks and a few lucky to have survived,  most still trapped but still alive with only injuries.  A few particularly lucky fools weren't harmed at all.   For now.

Most the little spear wielding knights were eliminated,  as they were exposed in the streets taking the brunt of the attack leaving broken, battered corpses behind in pools of blood. A few bodies were missing limbs.

Most, but not all. One or two survivors remained who weren't in the direct line of fire and survived rubble, but Clementine noticed a secondary force of soldiers moving in from beyond the city limits from her position in the sky.

A nervous soldier must have fired a cannon early,  hence the first shot,  then his brothers panicked and fired their volleys as well before the second flank could position themselves.    It could have been an excellent strategy.

Clementine might even have lost her barrier and sustained personal damage if they had all fired together in a singular surprise volley.  Considering how the first shot almost got her,   if she were surprised not only by cannon fire but explosive cannon fire when she didn't believe they'd even know what a cannon was...  well.

Thank the heavens for her intimidating good looks.

The heavens, which might be added, were soon to be descending on their mark as the burning star closed in on the town like a great star minutes from hitting.

Clementine hovered in the air before the star,  her own blazing wings outshined.    It'd be hard to hit her backed by such illumination.  Though the tenacious could make use of the shadow she'd cast from her body against the star.

She faced the opposing soldiers,  quite a distance away mind you,  and let what she just did sink in.

That's right.  I just eliminated your other little band of merry knights with a wave of my frigging hand.

< *This sentence translates roughly to mean:  YOUR MOVE, BITCHES!* >

The proud and stern march of the Rune Knights towards the town, quickly diminished when their eyes caught sight of the port. And for a moment the knights didn't fell anything but despair. And Harland could understand why. Because while they were standing upon a hill a few miles away from Hargeon Town they could see the destruction and agony that had fell upon the city. But for Harland it wasn't the destruction that caused anxiety, but the strange form of power that somehow was to be felt everywhere.
It made him and his men feel uneasy, even to such extent that with every step they took a burning and itching sensation was to be felt on their skin. The clothes and armor they were wearing appeared to offer no protection to it. And on realizing that it only became worse, Harland decided to halt his men.

'This burning sensation is only getting worse if get closer to the city. An I guess if get behind the town walls, it would kill us. Probably in a gruesome way that we can't comprehend.'
It was more a general statement of the situation then that Harland actually tried to warn his men.
'Allthough, I doubt that we would instantly die. And your armors would give some minor protection.'
Harland let out a big sigh, because he knew what he had to ask of some of his men. They had to put their lives on the line. Only to get a closer look on what was happening down there. He quickly turned stern and serious again. He knew this had to be done, this was why he was in the council. These hard decisions that none other could make.

Night of Light: Lamia Scale x Clementine Introduction [OPEN | Killzone (Player death enabled)] Empty Re: Night of Light: Lamia Scale x Clementine Introduction [OPEN | Killzone (Player death enabled)]

There was a slight roar. That of an engine and a bike skidded up next to Harland. It was the personal body guard of the magic councilwoman Skylar. She'd heard of the disturbance and been in the area so had come to check it out. "Shard Everred reporting for duty Councilman Harland. I volunteer to lead the counter offensive." she said her sharp tactical mind taking in everything that was happening in an instant. With those words her bike transformed into a 6ft2 robot and she held out both arms. "Requip: Commando Armor." she said and her clothing changed. She now wore a heavy metal headband, a bullet proof cest, metal covered boots and a grey body suit. These would produce a higher defense, endurance and speed for her.  "Requip: SMG" she said and an SMG formed in her hands.

"Is there anything in particular I should be looking out for sir?" Shard asked Harland. The situation seemed obvious. Something was attacking the town causing mass damage and the air was now lethal to those who entered. Only those properly armored would be able to enter. Her armor would hopefully give her a modicum of protection. She began to walk forward taking a small unit of rune knights with her. If there was anything important then Harland would tell her as she left.

"I won't lie to you soldiers. Most of us probably won't come back alive, but it is the duty of the rune knight to offer our lives to protect the civilians from rogue mages like this." she said and then began to lightly jog her robotic companion keeping pace with her. There were silent nods from the rune knights around her. They knew their duty. It was a strange opponent they were going to face. Somehow despite it being the dead of night the city was lit as bright as day. Just who or what was attacking the city? It did not matter. They just had to take it down. It was their duty. Besides a few of them had vengeance on their minds and not just for the civilians who had died, but their fellow rune knights who had been killed by the mysterious attacker who was currently being called the 'Angel of Death' in reports.

Shard and her group of rune knights, approximately half a dozen, headed into the town. With a few gestures the group split into three, Shard going solo and the others in groups of three. Shard went straight ahead heading towards the lamia scale headquarters . As she proceeded the heat caused by the radiation increased, but for now her armor was keeping her safe. Civilians nearby were throwing up and looking very ill. It seemed the heat was also creating a sickness. She could feel it getting to her, but it wasn't stopping her yet. She had a mission to complete. In the distance she saw the target and shouted out.

"Stop right there or i'll fire." she said aiming her SMG at the target. She really did look like an angel. The magic power radiating from her was insane. It was easily rival an S rank mage. This was not good. The huge ball of light that was illuminating the city was slowly crushing the lamia scale headquarters.

Lance had just gotten into town on the note of some weird stuff happening and he wanted to check it out. He stood on the outskirts of town and looked up into the sky and when he did he saw a huge ball of light descending down from the sky. "What the hell?!" Lance said because he thought like some monster rampaging through town or some guy saying that he could destroy everything, but no this was way different than what he expected. To get a closer look into the area he asked Draco to fly 30 feet into the air.

When Lance was up there he looked down into the town to see a girl being shot at and the girl killing a lot of people "Damn....." Lance muttered to himself as he flew back into the outskirts of town and sat on top of a tall tree so he could look down into the town and see what was going on.

/random mushroom cloud pic from google/
Not really to scale if you analyze the picture. But if you scale it down so that was hargeon and the explosion was closer, then yea. Distance changes perception.

Clementine watched the prey approach as she glided on radiant wings around the beacon that kept the small sun on track even as it descended.  It would be any minute now,  and perhaps her guests would be here to witness it's arrival.

She observed the movements of the soldiers easily,  watching them move behind cover and check on civilians.  They were likely surveying the town.

As if cannons and trains weren't enough to disassociate this planet's progress with a known era,  Clementine observed the movements of one soldier in particular.

Armed in gear that appeared somewhat the equivalent of S.W.A.T armor that Clementine was use to in some of the civilizations she'd passed,   this one also carried with her an obvious "modern" firearm, an FN P90.

It confused Clementine though,  in that with her atomic vision she could see that the internal workings of this weapon shared little with that of the weapon she'd encountered in the past.

This planet hurt her brain.    If she had one,  it might be aching right now.

What the lone soldier did manage to do,  was capture her attention long enough not to kill her on the spot.  Though the fact that she had approached so close meant that she'd probably die eventually if she remained anyway.

And Clementine wasn't just talking about the radiation,  but even as the girl approached the burning sun passed through Clementine where she stood,  enveloping her completely as there was no room left for her.

The sun ground into the cathedral,  vaporizing it in a steady line as though being erased by the light passing through it.

After a long moment Clementine reemerged as the sun passed her and the sun continued to eat away at the land,  it's speed greatly increasing now that it had touched ground as though it was eagerly devouring the land and using it to pull itself downward at a faster rate.

Steam filled the air as water from the ocean was vaporized,   and more water fell into the great pit the sun was digging,  falling on top of the star and causing more steam to erupt out of this great hole.    The steam was dwarfed after a long pause.

The star had finally hit bottom.

For a fraction of a second there was silence.  Then all at once there was a great roar and a brilliant flash of light as from the great pit erupted a pillar of smoke, light and flames as an earth shaking explosion caused the ground to shudder.

At the top of the pillar where it reached maximum height a great billowing cloud of smoke collected,  making it appear like a mushroom.   A wave of radiation bathed a great area around the pit,   and the air was thick with dust,  radioactive particles,  and smoke.

To most it would be blinding,   but it did nothing to hide the surroundings from her sight.    Where the cathedral once stood,  and several blocks of buildings and a chunk of the sea side was a great crater like pit that was being flooded with a massive rush of water as the salty waters of the ocean refilled the pit she left behind.

Clementine was filled with satisfaction in releasing all that energy,  it filled her with an aching sort of ecstasy that made her body quiver.  She felt the need to feed this desire,   but it wasn't enough yet.  She had to do more still.

Great cracks erupted in her body and light poured out from her,  flooding the air about her person.   With a great zig-zag motion full of bursting pops at each point of the jagged path of movement, Clementine appeared much farther away from the new little port she'd made for the town, closer to the entry point the second batch of soldiers had arrived from.

Her radiant wings opened wide,  halting her in mid air as she leveled her cannon on the bulk of soldiers outside the city limits.  A great ball of light gathered there,   and grew,   and grew,   then contracted and collected over a quarter minute during which time a great ray of invisible radiation bombarded the area with a growing thickness and intensity until it was visibly distorting the air around it,  a searing ray of light erupted from her cannon in a flash to crash into the land in the middle of the soldiers.

The ray of light would have left a pit where it impacts as the intensity of the beam melts through much of the ground.  Moments later the sight of impact would rupture,  a ball of light expanding out to consume everything in a burst around it.

Laughing in uncontrollably merriment,  Clementine held out her arms,  her wings spread wide as flames burst and ruptured throughout her body.   A great white fire roared around her like an inferno as she paid no mind to the outcome of her laser cannon.   Instead she soaked in the heat of her solar flames as they purged her body of backed up energy reserves,  cleansing her.

The flames faded,   along with the light that enveloped her wings,  leaving her floating there on raven wings which against the night sky were speckled with little pinpoints of light in shifting colors as though looking at a clear starry sky.

Clementine took a deep breath,  her thoughts cleared.

Her shout had been heard, but not acknowledged. Before she even had a chance to open fire with her SMG though the large burning sun descended from the sky and she was forced to retreat using her grapple blades. She hung the gun round her neck by its strap and threw the blades backwards with all her might hooking into a building and quickly retracted. This process was repeated several times causing her to go backwards very quickly so she could observe her opponent though she was forced to close her eyes to prevent herself being blinded by the explosion. It was not the most dignified retreat, but it was the only way she could move fast enough. The blast radius was 300m and she barely escaped it even with the help of the grapple blades. The energy sphere left nothing remaining of the once proud lamia scale guildhall and its surrounding area except a crater and a giant mushroom cloud that didn't seem to be dissapating. Just who or what was this creature to have so much power? It felt like an S rank, but the destructive power seemed to rival legendary mages like the Lichborne. They had to be taken down.

The actual destruction of the guild didn't bother her. She hated the guild system and the chaos it brought to the world. However, she couldn't forgive such a needless destruction of lives. The problem was though she couldn't get close to this angel of death. An SMG was not ideal for long range. However, she did have a weapon that was ideal and quickly leapt onto a rooftop to get a clear line of site. Her target had got a fair distance at this point having moved towards where the second group of rune knights had come from.

"Requip: Sniper Rifle" she stated and the SMG vanished from her hands to be replaced by a sniper rifle. Perhaps if she got one decent shot on this creature in the right place the other knights or Harland could bring it down. It was going to be tough, but her stinger shot should manage it. She got down onto her belly and took aim with the rifle focusing magic power into it. "Stinger Shot." This shot would lock onto the target increasing accuracy immensely. Also, when it got close rather than hitting like a bullet it would surround the opponent in a glowing energy field and explode with a blast radius of 10ft. A second shot was fired shortly after this. The opponent seemed to be generating intense amounts of heat so perhaps a cold shot would neutralize it. "Elemental Boost Elemental Synergy Ice Shot Wind shot ." she said using a C rank spell to enhance the shot further improve its icy effects and combining it with her wind shot via synergy to enhance its speed. If it hit then it would generate an icy blast that would hopefully cause some frostbite damage. Even with how fast she had reacted she wasn't in time to save those who would be struck by the cannon. However, it would hopefully hit just after and do some damage.

Due to the nature of the rare phenomenon Harland could see Commander Everred as clear as day. But still different, whatever illuminated the darkness of the night also gave off a white texture. making hard to see light colors.
After she reported her appearance she requiped herself with armor and a smg weapon. And looked more then ready to investigate the occurrence at Hargeon Town.

"Is there anything in particular I should be looking out for sir?" she inquired.
Harland found it quite admirable, this young woman was in the neighborhood and came here with determination to see and maybe stop whatever was going on. Even though she could feel the growing and ill power that tainted the city.
'I don't know miss Everred, I saw a flashing bolt of light come down earlier. And that was the same moment I felt this power. I figure whatever came out of that bolt is responsible for this'
But there was Harland wrong, even though he didn't know it yet. The bolt of light that he earlier described, it was the source of the problems. But it wasn't an object were something came out of but an actual living being.

When Miss Everred took off with a squadron of Rune Knights, Harland knew that her mission probably could be a death sentence. But it was a price that have to be paid for the good of the realm. He couldn't do anything about it for now, not in a direct way that is. He just had to wait till he got some more information.
'Allright men, we can't sit still either! I want a full security around the entire perimeter of the town! Nothing gets out, and nothing gets in!'

While the soldiers spread out around the city line in order to put up roadblocks. Harland focused his sight back towards the city once again. Only to see a power surge in form of a ball growing only bigger and bigger. It probably was the origin of all this destruction, but Harland knew what was coming. Through the years of battle and war he had developed a sort of intuition. Not that it could predict what exactly happened. It was more a sort of feeling, that a devastating attack was coming his way. And right now while he saw that orb of light he was feeling it.
    ‘Fort San Felipe del Muerte!!’
In a flash Harland summoned the only defense he had against the attack. A giant fortress of cannons, that rose out of the ground with it’s artillery aimed at the city. But the majestic sight of the collection of raw fire power quickly vanished. As when the steel like bunker collided with the force that was being shot at them. The collision was answered by a huge blinding and flashing light. That once again, vanished the entire area in a pure whiteness. And when it faded, the fortress that once stood proud was greatly devastated. A huge part from the middle to the left wing laid in ruins. While the old man laid on the ground, at the right wing. Damaged by debris from the impact.
