"Mama, why do we have to wear these cloaks..?"

"I feel like a pillow in a case mama!"

❂ Taking small, erratic steps while almost dancing around in their miniature stark colored silk cloaks, the two sons of Estelle would remain confused about why they had to conceal their identities almost like movie ghosts- while they were big fans of scooby doo, they felt as though it would be better to be a part of the mystery inc than be one of the bad guys! But they didn't know a single thing about where they were going other than it would be extremely important for not only their prosperity in the war-ravaged world but also for the three dragons that sat upon their mother's shoulders. And how they needed to let their mother do all the talking tonight, because hours prior to their arrival on the road that would lead them to this supposed tavern of monkeys, they had been told frankly to shut up and stop asking so many questions.

"I have told you both countless times how important it is that you do not speak while wearing such attire- we are headed somewhere that may be quite dangerous, and though I cannot elaborate further, please do not ask any more questions. Our identities are concealed for a reason and I will not let either of you put our family in danger, no matter how young the both of you are. Do not make me have to remind either of you again," Estelle would speak to the two in their miniature cloaks quite sternly, causing one of the two to begin to form tears upon his upper cheeks.

If Estelle had the way she truly wished for, she would not have even had to bring her two sons with her while seeking out the guildhall of Plumed Serpent; it was uncommon for her to bring her sons along with her during work-related business, and though typically the work she would accomplish would deem her a hero in the eyes of the world and in the eyes of her children, tonight would mark a change in operation. It had been only about a day since she was drove out of the city of Lavanitir due to an unfortunate takeover, and though it was quite risky, she was successful in protecting her five children from having to be exposed to such traumatic events- but in her eyes, this still would not be enough. In the current status of the world, Estelle had found that it was quite difficult for her to steer clear of the overbearing darkness during her "retirement" from taking on missions to eradicate such individuals- she knew she would be able to resume in a year or two if she played her cards right in raising her three baby elder dragons, but for now, she would have to carry out plans that would cause her previous self to become, honestly, horrified. In her draconic eyes, what better way to avoid the danger of those dedicated to the darkness than to seek refuge in their ranks- not Divine Calamity, Abyssal Fleet, Errings Rising, or any of the dark guilds scattered between them, but the one that wished to conquer an ultimate power. She wished for that ultimate power to make its way to her dragons, and while small, she knew they would take after the great elder dragon she had commanded before their births. But she wanted them to be even stronger, despite the lengths she would have to go in order to acquire such a promise.

Estelle no longer felt a mental conflict regarding joining Plumed Serpent herself, but she certainly still felt such conflicts about her sons- tonight, they would leave the tavern bearing the same guild mark as she did if things were all executed according to plan, something that made her stomach churn just thinking about it. But there was no other way she could join otherwise- if the matron was seeking out the divine power Plumed Serpent knew so much about, her sun and her moon would need to become interwoven in the grand scheme as well, even if they would remain home, not accompanying her on the jobs she would carry out alongside her dragons. She hoped the guild mark sitting on the skin of her sons would cause the two to be protected even more than they already were. The matron did not care about her own safety but the safety of her children and would do anything to preserve that, and though it caused her to worry somewhat, she felt it would be the best move they could make within the world of war. As a family- they had to stick together, and though the three would bear aliases and disguises while operating within Plumed Serpent, she could not see their relationships meeting a fate of tarnishing even in the lowest of lows.

Raising one of the sleeves of her cloak to rest her hand on the eldest of her three baby elder dragons, Estelle would sigh, looking down the curved road that would eventually lead them to the guild of serpents. They still had a bit to go- she could tell, even under their cloaks, that her sons were getting rather antsy due to the rules their mother had set in place. And though they were alone now, anyone could be listening. Through the trees, through the bushes, or through magic the three could not even conceptualize. If their identities were released alongside their motives, the plan would fail and Estelle would have her family's name dragged through the dirt. She would not allow that.

“If you girls don't stop struggling in there then I’m going to use chains. Do you understand me?” The redhead warned, preferring to use her alternative appearance rather than her fluffy one while on the road, looking over her shoulder. The rustling from the wagon interior stopped immediately, with not one of her captives willing to believe anything other than that what she was saying was true. Shirayuki hadn’t harmed any of them as such but that didn’t mean that she wouldn’t if necessary. She knew that they hated her guts and that was only natural. Some of them had been her allies, just a few days ago, fighting against the armies of Desierto and now? Members of both sides were now lying helplessly in her grasp, their fates to be decided by the sounds of slavers and potential buyers. Not how they likely expected their war experience to end but that was tough luck. They hadn’t been strong enough to beat the kitsune or had been foolish enough to trust her. They had got exactly what they’d deserved.

The journey from the frontlines had been surprisingly simple, with the mercenary easily able to handle any trouble with her wit and charm alone. Not one person had stopped her for long nor tried to get a look at her wares, which she was truly thankful for. How would she have explained the fact that she had 30 women holed up in her wagon? Having to do so would have been entertaining for not an experience that would probably have ended well. Murder was a messy business and although she took on such jobs now and again, it wasn’t something that she did for no reason, not if she could talk or get out of it through other means.

Her heading? A dark guild that she had heard a great deal about from members of The Ironheart Pact. The one group that they wouldn’t allow to join their ranks due to the attack on Felidae City. Shirayuki had actually been there shortly before said attack and had fortunately managed to swipe a few cat girls while patrolling the place. She was long gone before the explosion of course and the ship she’d been on had been perfectly safe from the blast. As a fellow animal/human hybrid, she no doubt should have felt angry about seeing so many of her kin being killed but she’d always seen people as little more than opportunities for profit and the only annoyance she felt was the fact that it was going to be a damn sight harder to get to Joya from now on. How was she supposed to stock up when they had closed their borders?! The frustration was indeed immense. On the bright side, the ones she had yet to sell would be worth far more now. The bright side of it all.

Despite the inconvenience to her, she still felt that Plumed Serpent would be an excellent place for her to use, after being slightly disappointed by the Abyssal Fleet. They had dared to tell her how to treat her captives?! Outrageous and she had immediately left the capital ship afterwards. Her business was her own and those soft hearted pirates clearly didn’t have the bottle to act as real mercenaries should. That didn’t seem to be the case for those in Plumed Serpent though, given the Joya incident. If they approved of that, then certainly they’d approve of her own career? If not? Well, she’d keep moving on. Being in a guild wasn’t the be all and end all for the shapeshifter and if they didn’t want a slice of the profits then that was up to them.

As her magically fuelled wagon pounded the earth, heading for a place known as “The Drunken Monkey” or something like that, the green eyes of the kidnapper would fall upon a cloaked figure walking down the path. Her slayer senses detected a feminine scent, which naturally drew the woman’s attention. Should she perhaps add one more captive to her ever growing list of merchandise? An amusing thought but the redhead didn’t think that she could take too many more, so instead she’d bring her vehicle to a stop, looking down at the woman from her vehicle.

“Do you need a lift, Miss?” Her tone sounded friendly enough for the time being. “I’m heading for a tavern that’s supposed to be somewhere around here and I’ve got room up here if you need a ride.”

Another scent caught her too, reptilian in nature, that was most certainly curious and Shirayuki’s eyes were soon drawn to the smaller figures who seemed to be riding on her shoulders.

    Disgusting.

The word about summed up the man's thoughts on this nation and its people so far, the journey to his place of desire nearing its due end. The climate was different from Pergrande, that much was sure, but the same kinds of temperatures and biomes had been observed in other places all over Ishgar and, indeed, Earthland as a whole. This nation was not unique in any way. Except, of course, for its adherence to and utilization of a despicable phenomenon that was celebrated all over Earthland: Magic.

Fiore was famous for its mages, rumored to be oh-so-powerful and influential on this continent. Truthfully, Fiore was famous for its system of mage guilds that came in all shapes and sizes. Different ideologies, different mindsets, and, at the furthest end of the spectrum, different alignments found a seedbed in this system and freely created their own little organization where mages could come together to pursue a goal. Not only this, but Fiore, or rather, its governing body, the Magic Council of Fiore, was the official instance that declared people "Gods of Ishgar" and "Warlords" on behalf of all nations present on this continent. It was not only extremely presumptuous, a fact that stirred a feeling of subtle anger within the man, but it was clearly, well, pathetic, to say the least. The anger subsides quickly. They didn't even know how ignorant they were. If they weren't at fault for their ignorance, he would have almost felt pity for them.

Regardless of his feeling, Nestor Azarov was a man who had a purpose here. He was on his way to just such a guild located deep within Fiore. The intel he had been provided with was more than enough to ensure that he would find his target. A guild known as "Plumed Serpent", located at a place called the "Drunken Monkey" near a town referred to as "Ace of Spades". Couldn't get any easier than that, even if the language was something that baffled Nestor time and time again. These people were so simple-minded that it was nearly painful, then again, perhaps magic had rotted away their brains already. It would explain a lot.

This guild, Plumed Serpent, however, was special among the mage guilds of Fiore for a singular and quite simple reason: It had dared stand against the Empire of Pergrande in its ambitions in Felidae City. For that, it would have to pay, in one way or another, this, of course, being the cause for Nestor's little stint in Fiore. That said, they didn't even do a good job at what they were supposed to do. Their objective undoubtedly was the assassination of a Pergrandean noble and Pergrandean Envoy, Stefan Borisov. It ultimately failed, and all this guild of mages did was draw the ire of the entire world for eradicating a whole bunch of Joyans. Well, it was no skin off Nestor's back. He couldn't care less for Borisov or Felidae City, though he had to admit to the former's diplomatic skills, but Pergrande saw that a little differently, and for good reason, he knew. As such, his mission had been put together and authorized rather swiftly.

With characteristic efficiency, Nestor had infiltrated Fiore, now almost at this spot where this Tavern was supposed to wait for all the wretched dregs of society, certainly a pleasant way to spend his time. It was what it was. Leisurely steps carried him across the cobbled road across terrain that was as much bland as it was desolate. Travelers and wagons passed by on each side, and the man, dressed in ordinary clothing for this place, jeans, black shirt, and a coat of similar color right above, would blend right in, the only thing appearing mildly out of place being the katana-like weapon sheathed at his hip. Many people here carried weapons, mages especially, so it earned him a not a glance. Nestor, though, was not like these mages.

He produced no magical signature, for one. No scent or sound accompanied him as he moved, and for all intents and purposes, his presence was suppressed to such a degree that people would hardly notice him at all. That was, of course, until he would speak up. A small group of travelers, it seemed, had come to a rest at the side of the road, Nestor, hyperaware of his surroundings, picking up the word "Tavern" almost immediately. Same destination as him, huh? Wouldn't hurt to let the locals guide him a little, he figured.

He cleared his throat, adjusting his vocal cords to produce an accent that resembled Fiorean, a simple technique he had learned during his training years. His voice came deep and gravelly, though friendly in tone. "Ah, uh, hey, sorry to bother-", he began as he approached, raising an arm in greeting as he followed up swiftly with "-I'm kinda lost over here and was wondering if you could help me out. I'm looking for this Tavern called 'The Drunken Monkey' or something". He kept himself relaxed, his eyes shifting from one of the travelers, a woman on her wagon, to another one, another woman accompanied by... well, there was hardly another way to say it, two midgets wrapped in bedsheets and a trio of miniature dragons on her shoulders. Had he run into a circus? Great. Just the right kind of crowd to talk to. Well, he was already too far into this act to pull away now.

"Gotta say, I'm new around these parts so I was wondering if you knew the way".

The route to the Drunken Monkey was often a bland path to travel. Anytime that the summoner made some asinine request to the Celestial Spirits, they had to walk to the nearby towns, or to wherever it was they were to go to. It got tiring to walk around like mortals, they were the very stars themselves! Why would they need to walk like plebians!

"You keep thinking like that and Odh-chan will be disappointed," the lovely archer mused, counting the coins in her hand.

"Why couldn't he just let one of the demon sorts deal with these errands, then!" the avatar of pride retorted angrily. "Celestial Spirits should be fighting in battle, proving our worth to all these petty little... ants that dare call themselves on our, or Odhran's, level!"

Atsuai sighed, shaking her head. "We're sent out because he trusts us. Those other demons aren't as reliable."

Superbia continued to complain even as they came upon an unusual sight for the poorly maintained roads. What looked to be a caravan, of sorts. A redhead with a wagon that stunk of people, a cloaked woman holding children and dragons, and a man with a katana.

"Ah, it's a bit uncommon to see people heading this way!" Atsuai said with a smirk, dipping the coins back into her sleeve. "And you all seem to be quite the unique group, aren't you?" She quickly took a step in front of them, her steps soundless against the stone. "I am Atsuai, a Celestial Spirit. My summoner is currently at the tavern at the end of this road. I would be glad to introduce you to him."

Superbia scoffed, her own blackened heels clicking in contrast to Atsuai's silent movement. "There's no need for the subtlety, Atsuai. Clearly these people aren't normal humans. One lady has a pair of lizards, the other has a cart on a road to a tavern, and this guy is suspiciously not a wizard. Anytime that there's a plebian without any sort of magic, you must immediately be suspicious."

Atsuai raised an eyebrow. "I... would disagree with that final assessment, but... nevertheless, I take it none of you are from the area? At the very least, I've not seen any of you at the tavern before. Do you need any help getting there? And please, don't mind my purple cohort. She's just a little... well, I'm sure you can come up with your own words for her."

Raising a hand to sit on the eldest of the three baby dragons that rode upon her shoulders, the cloaked ginger would feel a chill manifest upon her back as the first of the various strangers upon the dark and dreary road would approach her. It would seem as though upon her approach, which would be accompanied by a rather extensive load of what would presumably be her captives, an overbearing sense of magic would follow- Estelle would reach her other hand to motion her sons to stop in their tracks behind her, hoping that they would get the clue that the moment was soon approaching in which they would have to remain serious, cloaked in white with an overbearing veil of silence over their mouths. If they were even so to make a peep, it would be instantly that the matron of dragons would cause them to bite their tongue. But they knew just how serious their mother was about this sort of strange ordeal that their eccentric family of theirs found themselves within currently, causing them to be too scared of the consequences that would come from going against their mother's stern wishes. To the youngest of the two cloaked midgets, he felt as though if he did not remain quiet, there was a chance he could end up in cages just like those that were upon the stranger's wagon.

While the stranger's appearance appeared rather intimidating to the commandress of dragons, alongside her magical signature, the conviction of her voice would seem to make Estelle think otherwise of her presumptions. The stranger had invited the party of the cloaked dragon tamers to come alongside her in her wagon if they were in need of a ride, and while that would greatly benefit the three as their legs had been a bit sore from walking such great lengths, the matron felt as though not taking precautions while being presented with opportunities like these would steer her family into the wrong direction, even if they were headed to the same destination. However, before she was capable of giving a direct pass on the kind gesture, another figure would appear to approach the two on the side of the road leading to the tavern. It felt as though a crowd was forming around her and her sons, and though this other stranger would appear to also be headed to this tavern of drunken monkies, a mental note presented itself to Estelle as if she needed to keep her guard up just in case something were to go wrong with this set of new faces. Standing in silence as she would watch the individual state that they were in need of directions, her white cloak would flutter within the delicate gusts of wind that would trail throughout the curves of the road, her face remaining shrouded in the darkness under her hood. It was her first time delving into what could lead her to a life dedicated to darkness, which caused her to feel a bit paranoid about putting trust in others that could be looking to participate in similar ordeals.

"It seems that we are all headed to the same destination, as I am also on the way to the Drunken Monkey Tavern," the cloaked mistress would begin to speak to the two, her voice trailing out of the dark abyss under her hood with a calm yet deep demeanor, "if we take this road east, I believe that we shall reach the tavern quite soon."

Due to the overbearing feeling of paranoia seeping into her veins, the thought to respond to the woman leading the wagon's offer would escape Estelle's mind- things were occurring rather quickly now, unlike the long road that they had already ventured upon, and she still had her suspicions. Plumed Serpent would by all means be a group of individuals that would be targeted by those dedicated to preserving the goodness of the world- what if one of these strangers was one of those people, just as the matron had been prior to her temporary retirement? She could not help but be suspicious of the motives of these strangers, even if she knew nothing about any of them.

Out of the darkness, another set of two would appear to join the crowd on the side of the road, one of the two appearing to break into the ongoing conversation without hesitation. They would introduce themself as a celestial spirit, operating under a summoner that would already be at the destination the three were currently seeking out- alongside another that would presumably be of the same race as the previous being that was to speak, which would seem to be much less friendly than their accomplice. The pair's observation of the two felt, well, rather odd to Estelle, especially as they would address her adolescent Elder Dragons as simply lizards. Even if it was a bit offensive to the dragon tamer, she would let out a chuckle under her cloak in response to their sheer ignorance of the power that would come in the future from such rare, ancient reptilian beings and the implied skill she felt as though she had from raising such.

"My stars are much more significant than mere lizards, stranger," the cloaked dragoness would speak to the purple celestial briefly before turning to the other, "but no, I am not from the area and neither are the five that are accompanying me tonight. If your master is at the tavern all of us seem to be seeking out for the first time, I would not be obliged to have you lead the way, though I will not speak for those around me I do not know."

Estelle wished to remain calculated in what she would tell and not tell these strangers, as she had no clue of their motives and what they wished to come out of their visit to the tavern. After all, they all could simply be drunkard bargoers with no real purpose other than to drink the night away. But she wished to find Plumed Serpent and join their ranks under the guise of the cloaked draconic matron, however that may be. While her morals were still somewhat intact, she would go to great lengths to get this ultimate power she had heard so much about if she had to, as long as it meant her children were safe in her doing so. For now, however, she would sit in silence as she would wait to hear more of those that had approached her on the road's side of stone, her mortal children paralyzed in fear of the ongoing exchange.
