Kismet couldn't recall the last time she'd been to the capital. It was most certainly one of the few occasions. She'd joined a dark guild, so she'd earn a bounty on her head one day, and walking these streets would become deadly in the future. Despite that fact, it was Halloween, a day for dressing up, hiding oneself, and playing pretend so it was the perfect time to roam the capital without fear. Plus, it was a fantastic day and night to indulge in foods and candies she wouldn't otherwise.

She'd go into her pocket and pull out a flask containing some nice rum, taking a couple huge gulps, and then putting it away. Then she'd stroll up to a mirror and double check her outfit. Normally, Kismet was partly nude or making use of her form, but tonight she opted to do the reverse. She was wearing tactical indigo pants with a sleeveless shirt and a belt. Both designed as a no compromise assault uniform. The pants and top were cut for maximum mobility. The pants in particular featured a unique padded waistband and hi-mobility stretch panels at the knee and lower back. She also was wearing black boots, gauntlets with a pauldron over her left shoulder. Completing the look she was also wearing a gear-like armlet on her left forearm. The pauldron in particular was sporting protruding screws and bolts. The final touch of her outfit was rather large and unwieldly looking sword. She found it funny carrying around something so huge that only someone of her strength could actually utilize well.

Eventually traveling and looking at all the events she'd see that there were several options for her to choose from. There were all kinds of games but the ones that stood out the most were the halloween costume events, a halloween punch station, a pumpkin carving station, or they could go trick or treating down the street. The last interesting thing was a test of courage that involved a maze. She wanted to try them all but she the night wouldn't allow for it timewise and she was waiting for two others from the guild to join her.

"Sheesh, when are the others going to get here. Oh wait, I'm early! That's what I get for drinking before and during the Halloween festivities." With a laugh she'd lean up against a wall at the place they had decided and wait for her two guildmates to arrive. She quietly wondered what they were going to dress as.

Unlike almost every single sane person on the planet, Riana had made the very conscious decision to fly all the way from the mountain to the capital. One, she did not need legal entanglements slowing her down; being part of a dark guild tended to cause certain issues along the way and Riana absolutely was not up for this. Two, the solitude was preferable to the scientist. It was infinitely better to be in the dark alone rather than having to deal with other people. Three, this was not her idea. Riana had been told incredibly specifically by the Queen that participation in this festival was mandatory, and that failure to follow this directive was punishable by... death, probably. That bit had been sort of vague, like most things. She had not specified why. Maybe it was for the purposes of socialising. Maybe she just really liked the holiday a lot. There was no room to question the Queen, and that was the end of the matter. She was dutiful, if nothing else.

So, Riana had flown in her battlesuit. The crimson glow of magitech particles formed a cloak with which Riana could hide herself, giving her the shroud with which she could arrive in the capital undisturbed. This was enough for her.

According to the Queen, an outfit was also required. This outfit was black, like her soul - but the gold filigree, the tights and the lace, as well as the overcoat, it was at least stylish enough to let her feel like it was a worthwhile outfit. She felt like a black rose, if nothing else. Actually, that was entirely a good description for it.

As the Fury touched down and shimmered away into nothingness, Riana looked around. She knew one of the two that she was expected to meet; she and Killua had performed missions recently. Conversely, the other one, she did not know. No idea what to look for, but then again, she'd work it out - she was smart enough to solve that sort of problem without incident. The guild maintained dossiers - she could sort out how to find the quarry in question. Kismet. The irony of the word fate being used was not lost on Riana.

So- one giant sword later, that had to be her.

"Kismet?" asked an entirely clipped voice, sharp. Arms folded behind her back, Riana maintained a perfectly passive, if distant, mask of a facial expression.

Post by Killua 4th November 2021, 11:07 am

Killua groaned as he walked through the streets of the Crocus, again he found himself in the capital of Fiore, and he really hoped that he wouldn't run into any Rune Knights if they had an idea of who he has, it wasn't like they could tie him up with the murder of a magic representative and a politician alongside bombing. Quite the hefty charge could be placed on the young dark mage and in the future probably a lot more, with all the people in the capital tonight, he would be fine, especially with all that was going to be happening tonight.

This time, however, he wasn't going into the capital for anything malicious, instead, there was a Halloween festival and Kil decided to take the time for another vacation before he would go on a few other jobs. Of course, he was also dressed to meet the theme of the festival. A white shirt with pair of purple braces, purple suit pants, black derby shoes, and a purple cape, alongside a pair of sharp teeth extenders for his canine teeth, to compliment the look of a fancy vampire even more. His ability to elongate his nails was also coming in handy to further give him that look.

He had stiffened a few times when he saw 'Rune Knights' walking the streets, but in the end, it was only some people dressed like ones, while he wasn't afraid, there was only one thing he wanted tonight and that was to enjoy himself, anyone that tried to pick up a fight now would be up for a quick beating by the lightning user. He continued to look around, both at the other people and their costumes and all the same keeping a look for the people he was here to enjoy his time with, both were fellow members of the same guild and he had the opportunity to meet them on separate occasions just recently.

At the edge of the street, he caught a glimpse of a mop of bright red hair, that belonged to Riana, and from what the looks of it Kismet was already there, and they were only waiting on him, picking up his pace, he quickly went over to them. "Oiii." He yelled as he waved with one hand, going towards them. " Sorry that I'm late, had to finish up my costume and find a cape to tie up my vampire costume." He chuckled slightly as he rubbed the back of his head, before looking over both of the girls and their costumes. He wasn't surprised all that much by the fighter costume and huge sword that Kismet was carrying without any issue, not after taking one of her punches and feeling like he was hit by a train, he shuddered at the thought of being hit by one without any magic to protect him. Painful.

As for Riana he was entirely sure about her costume but if he had to guess it was going to be a modern witch, which in turn also looked quite cool in his opinion. "Easily we have one of the best costumes here! So, I saw that there are quite a few activities going around, what do you wanna try first? We can also get a punch from somewhere if anyone is thirsty." Enthusiasm filled his voice as he waited for his guild members to decide on what they wanted to tackle first.

Post by Kismet Clover 4th November 2021, 1:02 pm

Kismet was delighted to see Killua again. She could still feel the sting of his thunderbolt on her back today. Fortunately, no real lasting harm had been done to her body, not that a battle scar wouldn't be gorgeous. She however had never met Riana before, but she had been notified ahead of time that they would be meeting tonight. She'd introduce herself with a courteous wave and a grin. "Hey, hey! My name is Kismet. It's a pleasure to meet you on this Hallowe'en eve."

Tapping the flask on her side, she'd already be ready for another taste, so the idea of going to a punch station and getting a drink spiked was right up her alley. "I believe the punch concept is fantastic! Come on. I'll lead the way"

Kismet was unusually cheerful today in comparison to her regular demeanor. With her tolerance level, she wasn't even close to tipsy, but it was merely her favorite holiday. It was the one time she had as a child when she could let go without fear, and that thrill had stayed with her even to this day. She'd be so preoccupied with getting a cup of punch that she didn't realize all the craziness going on around her. Another woman next to her was huge and purple like a blueberry, another man was singing on stage with a band with a higher pitched voice and sounded rather nice, and another man was hovering an inch off the ground laughing as he raced in place.

Grabbing a cup of punch she'd take her flask and spike her drink. The rich aged rum was a gold, dark brown amber color of richness. The nose of any slayers nearby, or just those with a good sense of smell would detect honeyed fruit and spicy vanilla from the oak it was once kept in. The palate of the rum was balanced with a mellow but complex mix of ripe raisin, fruit, and spice. With a gulp she'd enjoy it's long, enjoyable finish!

Starting at the base of her long hair, which was kept together by a single scrunchy near the end, her sleek black hair would begin to become a terrifying white until the all the hair on her head was reversed like day and night. She was so enamored with her drink that she didn't notice it until she did. That's when she observed the rest of the shenanigans going on around her, which made her smile even wider. "Oh you two have to try this. Rina would you like a little spike? Killua? Wait, aren't you too young?.. .. just kidding, you can have some if you want." She'd snicker at the idea of a dark mage adhering to age restrictions on alcohol.

With great enthusiasm she'd wait to see what happened to the others and if they accepted her fine imported aged rum or not that she spent so much jewels on, and by spent she meant stole.

Before long, the three of them ended up at the punch table; pun obviously intended when it came to Kismet's primary choice of combat abilities, for Riana was not here to argue with the fact that she looked strong, sword in hand obviously notwithstanding as a choice of weapon. Truthfully, she looked like a striker, nto a swordsman. There was a certain focus on biceps and core muscles for those who walked the path of the fist and all of that was very much on display in that outfit. Well, it was not an issue overall. She did not mind. More correctly, she did not care. Caring was for people who gave a damn about other humans.

That said, the drink before her was tempting.

"Well. It could not hurt," Riana stated plainly, before she reached for the ladle to pour herself a cup of the punch that had already turned one of her fellow guildmates' hair ivory white. The scientist took a sip, then followed it with an incredible gulp; the drink carried the absolute punch line of alcohol, tinted with a mixture of a fruity - mostly berry - overtone. It was not unpleasant, at the very least. While Riana was in no way a routine consumer of alcohol-- it dulled the mind, which was something that under many normal circumstances was incredibly abhorrent to her-- she did understand that in social settings there was a time and a place for doing so. Such being the case, the redhead finished her drink.

In moments, what were typically bright, beautiful auburn locks had taken on a deathly pale. In front of her eyes was conjured a mirror - reflective enough to display her hair as if she had a floating camera following her actions, she could see the change that she had already undergone. It did rather accentuate her outfit, she thought immediately. The juxtaposition of black and white most definitely did assist with the way she had chosen to dress. Perhaps the Queen was right in this decision after all. Note to self - listen to these kinds of things more.

"Killua, were you to sample this drink, I daresay you would go unaffected," she added dryly. Already possessed of such hair, it had nowhere for him to go should he come under the spell of the same thing. At least he could have a drink of this and not worry about that. She did not comment on whether he drank it, underage or not; she cared not for the demesne of those who set puny mortal rules. Those rules were beneath her benefit. In the meantime, she looked around. The presence of so many for this festival was a concern. Riana did not like crowds. It was far too easy for an assassin to slide a hidden blade between the ribs, all things being equal; there was no love for such a thing when the domain of killers and murderers was theirs. All things being equal, Riana could have easily seen Kil dispatched for such a task; perhaps Kismet, were she not so straightforward. Riana could have achieved the objective with certain parts of her arsenal, especially now that she had some new tricks that Kil had yet to experience firsthand.

Gods, imagine if that needed to happen.

Expectantly, she looked at Kil, wondering if he too would take a drink.

Kil followed closely behind Kismet as she navigated the crowd of people and soon they had arrived at the punch table. All sorts of samples were present for people to choose from, Kil himself didn't know what to choose from as they also were in different colors, it was the first time he would sample anything like this. Picking up one of the drinks, he looked back at the two, just in time to see Kismet's hair turn white turning white, which in turn made the young dark mage laugh. "Hey, at least we can pass as brother and sister." Before he would sip from his, he noticed that Riana's hair turned white as well.

He stiffened another laugh. "I guess we can all pass as relatives now." He also accepted the offer from Kismet to spike his drink as his nose picked up the rich honey fruit smell, he hadn't tasted alcohol in some time now and decided that it wouldn't hurt to add some of it now. "You know the legal age is 16, or so I've heard, but if it isn't who cares." It wasn't like he was some goody two shoes that would follow the laws accordingly to how they were set up, and he had tasted alcohol before as they were subjected to numerous training and resistances.

"Well, I could get another hair color, the dread!" He comically added, sipping on the spiked punch. His face melted in delight as he tasted the punch, it was quite good, and the rich flavor added by the rum increased the sweetness of the drink a lot more. "Ahhh~ this hits the spot, I don't know if it's the rum or the punch itself." Finally, Kil looked around at the hectic sampling area, there were quite a few people and it looked like they were affected like Kismet and Riana were but with different properties, he doubted that the guy usually sounded with such a high pitch voice and that the girl was definitely not purple from the way she freaked about it. The only person that truly seemed to enjoy himself was the one that was slightly floating above the ground.

The young dark mage let out another laugh as he was enjoying himself. How long was it since he was able to enjoy himself freely without thinking about the next day? Honestly, he couldn't remember, too bad he didn't get affected by any magic as well. "Well, I feel fine, so maybe I'm a bit lucky or it's the one that turns your hair white."

Looking around he found a small stand filled with empty paper bags. "Let's go trick or treating next, I want to get as much candy as possible. Maybe they'll give something that I haven't tried until now." Grabbing a few paper bags, he waited to see if the other two were up to go do some trick or treating and would hand them one bag each.

The slayer had relaxed a bit and was letting the fun take over him, with so many people in the capital and everyone in high spirits he would doubt anyone would try to put a move on them, even if they knew who they were or they would ruin the festival for a lot of people.

She'd grab a brown bag and join the two down the street to start trick-or-treating. She was ecstatic to see all of the houses and stores decked out in Halloween fright. She'd see the rare individual leave a dish of sweets with a letter. Of fact, the bowl had already been depleted. What type of child, if given the opportunity, would not loot free candy? Sugar and honor in youngsters are uncommon.

Mrs Snickwad was sitting in her chair in her house and hadn't had a knock for awhile. It was getting late and word that she wasn't giving out as much candy had most likely spread throughout the little trick or treaters. A loud knock would bring her to the front door, on the other side stood Kismet while the other two hit up other places. In Kismets hand she held the brown bag but also a pumpkin bucket she found. Mrs Snickwad would open the door and see a warrior woman standing before her. She wasn't sure if she should be scared or impressed that her small frame was able to hold such a large sword. "Well, don't you look pretty tonight my dear. It's not the best, but I like it." She'd give Kismet a thumbs up and put candy in her bucket.

Kismet would take stock of everything she had gotten so far after the woman closed the door. She had a few things she liked and a few king sized chocolate bars but nothing fancy and her between her bag and bucket she was about half full. She'd also take note and be surprised by the fact there were a lot of things in her containers that just weren't candy at all. She had an assortment of snack foods, cheap toys, plastic spiders, stickers and a toothbrush. She'd look to the others. "You two having fun so far? How are you two making out? I am glad I get to experience with with the two of you. I know we aren't like other guilds but it's nice having comradery." She'd give them the brightest smile possible before heading to the next house.

She'd continue to go door to door, skipping the dark houses and grabbing candy when they weren't out. By the time they reached the last house on this particular street a little child would come up dressed like a demonic cat. "Hey you, give me your candy." Kismet would narrow her eyes at the kid, it was probably a bully and maybe just highschool age. He was taller than Kismet and saw nothing but a young male and two females before him.

Approaching the kid she would square off in front of him, not wanting to back down. She actually found it laughable that he was trying to steal her candy. She didn't even have to use magic. She could just hold her pointer finger with her thumb and then use the counter force to flick his forehead and send his head off from his shoulder rolling down the pavement. She wouldn't' of course as she wanted to do more and not get the Rune Knights on her ass while here.

Pulling her punch she'd hit him in the gut and knock the wind out of him. As he doubled over onto her arm she'd toss him like a leaf into a nearby bush. He'd be out the rest of the night easily enough. THere may have been better ways to handle the situation but she wasn't wanted to get rid of him and spend more time with her two guild mates. "Hope you don't mind I did that. Rather not kill him and get the authorities on us while we having fun. Not that punching out some Rune Knights before using our tattoos to teleport home wouldn't be both funny and entertaining."

"Eh I didn't do too well now that we at the end of the street. Didn't do too bad either. About average. I got a few toys, stickers, snacks, candy and a toothbrush. I think that's the first time I've ever gotten a toothbrush too. OOO an apple. Not just an apple but a honeycrisp!" Kismet would take the apple and take a big bite out of it. It wasn't sweets, but she enjoyed apples, and this particular kind was her favorite. She nearly hoped she could swap all she had for a huge bag of honeycrisp apples and a couple large dark chocolate bars. "What do you two want to do next? If there are no objections, I was thinking we could go take a bravery test. When I initially arrived here, I heard about it. It takes place at the conclusion of a spooky maze through which players must make their way. The maze itself is a regular Halloween-themed maze with no unusual features, but what awaits at the conclusion is far more difficult. At the end of the maze, there is an entrance to "The Test Of Courage." According to what I overheard a few of mages say, it has a specific gate that disables the magic of any mages who enter it, and they must pass through it while facing their biggest fears. Then again, I understand any apprehensiveness about having your magic sealed."

Well, if this was the thing to do, then so be it. Riana would not argue about going out and doing the thing that was part of the tradition, because any argument brooked would result in the immediate wrath of the Queen. She was at least partly certain that she had eyes and ears everywhere, to the point that if she did not participate actively in each activity set before them, then there was going to be punishment. Not for anyone else, mind. Specifically for her, because as was hinted at more than once 'you need to go outside and play with the other children'. This was, apparently, important to do, so Riana had absolutely no choice but to do the thing that she was being told to do - otherwise she'd be set on fire, or something. The actual punishment part, if there was one, was incredibly vague - also an apt description for their Queen on a bad day. This, coupled with the fact that she loathed people at best, meant that there was one kind of unwilling participant in all of these shenanigans. In fact, Riana probably wouldn't have turned up without that kind of support.

Regardless, here she goes, here goes speed racer, she's a candy-taking demon on wheels.

Send Riana to gather anything and she'll totally do it. In this case, she was going to have to acquire candy from the locals in order to progress with the main quest, which was an unfortunate side-effect of being in an area with so many quest markers. Needless to say there was going to have to be

-- Vital signs spiking. Preparing for immediate regulation. --

The voice under her skin went ignored for now.

Then, Riana was off down the street - exchanging a word with the occasional passer-by who greeted her first. Word is in fact accurage, given that the word tended to be 'hi'. While someone was fighting children to acquire the treats, Riana was just... talking. Apparently, this was the viable strategy to find success, so there you go - it was within about twenty minutes that Ri had picked up enough candy to sate her thirst. Or hunger. Hunger was probably a better word for it at this point.

    But hey. Free stuff.

So she came back to the group.

"So, turns out, these people will just throw stuff at you," she indicated to the group. It was kind of a shock, honestly, that she'd managed to do so well with little to no prompting. Well, sometimes it was just a roll of the dice, wasn't it? "Anyone want this? I truthfully couldn't care much less about it. I do not possess a sweet tooth."

Pause. Reach into the bag for a peanut butter cup.

    "Test of courage sounds good."

Post by Killua 11th November 2021, 6:25 pm

The young dark mage walked with a small jump. He was excited, thinking about all the different types of candy that he could get, and just the candy itself, all the flavors, chocolate, vanilla, sour candy, especially the sour candy. He hoped to get loads of candy to soothe his sweet tooth. Looking around the street, he appreciated how much the spirit of Halloween was present, almost every house and building was decorated, and there were quite a lot of people already trick or treating. This meant only one thing, they were late, really late and the chances of getting a great haul were dim.

Nevertheless, he did not lose hope, for his greatest candy haul! And so he strode towards the first house amidst the bustling street of other people that were trick or treating. Kismet had already gone to one of the houses and he swore that he saw Riana fly past them in her suit of armor. He was glad that she was into it a bit, with her mostly stoic impression, one would think that she didn't care about almost anything. Maybe that was the best idea to gather candy fastest, but he didn't want to be a dashing spark of lightning going to every house. Too much attention, something he wanted to avoid and just relax in the capital for one time.

Most of the houses had already placed candy in bowls in front, so they would not be disturbed by all the children. The bad part was, most of the bowls were almost empty with little no candy left, he would grab anything that he could find. This consisted of different types and even some toys? He was generally confused as to why there were toys but he would most likely throw them away afterward.

About 20 minutes later, he went back to the group, just in time to see Kismet throwing some kid into the bushes that wanted to take her candy. "That's what you get." He said laughing in the process. "I hope you got a lot of candy, cause I didn't get much, some random toys and some candy, it could have been better." Throwing some candy into his mouth, he enjoyed the sweets that he received and was quite happy that at least Riana was able to get more than them. "I didn't get much from the houses I visited, some random ones that were left in the bowls and barely any left from any of the people that were giving them by hand. But oh well, anyone wants some toys?" He said showing his bag that had some mini toy cars and whatever else they could give him as toys.

"Bravery test? Sounds good, though I don't feel good not being able to use magic in the capital, hehe. Alright, let's go." He said leading the way towards the maze that would then lead them to the test. "By the way, Ri, I would mind getting some candy if your willing to part ways." Maybe there was a way to soothe his hunger for sweets!

"Are you ready to enter the spooky maze? Only the bravest can continue after it!" The person that said this was dressed like a wizard that guided them to the entrance.

"I think we will manage." He gave him a pleasant smile.

"Let's go!" He said with enthusiasm pumping a fist upwards as he entered. The maze itself was decorated to fit the theme of Halloween, giant fake spiders, cobwebs, and other spooky things that would fit in. "Which way which way." He pondered "This way." He said leading the way, however quickly he led towards a dead end, and again.... and again.

"Okay, it seems like I can't navigate a fucking maze, but I can navigate a fucking laboratory that is hundreds of corridors. I blame your alcohol for this!" He pointed childishly at Kismet, obviously joking around. It was better if someone else led the way.

Creepin' it real Empty Re: Creepin' it real

Post by Kismet Clover 12th November 2021, 9:36 am

Kismet had no recollection of what had transpired. She was traveling through the maze with her two guildmates, laughing and joking about Killua's inability to navigate it. Then something occurred. She was confronting her worries. How did she make it all the way to the end of the maze? When did it take place? All she knew was that she was scared and that there was a door in front of her.

We all experience it, even confront it every day of our lives, and yet many look fear in the eye with such pride and confidence that they believe they can get rid of it. Fear shapes us to become who we are today, and it even reveals the actual essence of each of us.
Fear is neutral; there is no distinction between good and evil, friend and adversary; one should accept what is and what may become. That is if you can push by through the fear. Kismet was strong, very strong, but when she saw the door front of her, terror gripped her tightly. She sensed it, her death and the fact that she died without having accomplished anything in her life. She was a young woman who had recently joined a guild. She was growing in authority, but she wasn't yet a Queen of any kind. The door in front of her would take her to the hereafter, and all she had to do was open it and go through it. It would take away all her pain and worries, but every time she reached for the handle, fear crept up on her. She'd be inundated with shame, dread, and hatred for dying before accomplishing even one goal. The fear was keeping her from moving on to wherever one went after one's death.

"What exactly is this?" Kismet thought to herself, his gaze drawn around the door in front of her, which grew darker with every moment. If she didn't walk through the door, the darkness was going to swallow her up and she'd be trapped. Fear is one of those emotions that is simple to succumb to yet difficult to express. Explaining the emotion you get when you're actually, truly scared is one of the most difficult things in the world to describe to someone who has never felt afraid before. She couldn't even explain to herself how she felt but she knew what she had to do as the darkness started to close in on her. Fight. Fighting is what she did best and fighting is what she'd do. Screw this dumb door. Raising a fist she'd power up all her might, funnling all her stamina into the end of her fist and smash forward. The door would explode and she found herself standing at the end of the maze with a stunned mage who felt the power of her punch through his illusion magic. His nose was bleeding and he was fighting being knocked unconscious from the sheer blowblock.

Kismet knew she'd have to face her fears in this maze but she didn't truly knew what that meant until now. She wanted to punch the mage too but instead she'd stomp forward and wait for the other two to show up.

Without hesitation, the scientist thrust the bag that she was holding full of candy towards her combative compatriot. "Here. All yours. I have no need for this," Riana said as she finally managed to get some words sorted straight out of her brain. Kil was absolutely free to take the entire bag of candy off her hands, because her lack of sweet tooth indicated that she would find it a better home with someone else. Yet, it was strange. SOFI was monitoring the situation incredibly carefully, for Riana's vitals were still spiking drastically in ways they should not have. Was this an indication of alcohol? No; it seemed far more likely to be a contraindication if nothing else, for the depressant should not have been sufficient to do this, let alone anything else. The intelligence was working overtime to investigate the cause of the sudden change in its master, yet nothing seemed to be able to conflate the cause of the concern. What an oddity it was. Besides, she'd just given something to someone for free. She was probably sick at this point, real talk.

Anywho, Ri offered the man who tried to intimidate them with a little spooky blurb a withering glare. If her eyes could generate lasers, she would have just magitech shot the poor fool in the face.

For reference, no, Riana had yet to try that as an experiment, and it was not going to be on the list.

Into the maze the trio traipsed, and they were suddenly separated; Kismet took a moment to absolutely vanish without prompting from the other two. An emerald glance around and Riana could not find her anywhere in eyesight. By the time she performed a full three hundred and sixty degree rotation, the scientist noted that Killua was now no longer within visual range.

    "SOFI, status. Where are they?"

-- Targets One and Two are confirmed within the maze. --

    "Helpful. Narrow that down."

-- Negative. Magical interference confirmed. --

    Sigh. "Great."

Instinctively, Riana reached for the doorknob of the now-conveniently-placed doorway that had appeared in front of her in the span of her searchign for her allies. As she opened it--

There was an acrid stench on the air. It was so thick that it was almost palpable, leaving what felt like a powdery residue on the tongue. The dryness in her mouth that followed, as well as the gut-wrenching change, showed that Riana knew without having to be told what was in this room.

Here lays Riana Maren. A dozen of them. Murdered brutally, and each in different ways. One, her tongue cut out, before having her throat slit. One suffocated by the hangman's noose. One yet still with her chest cavity caved in completely by blunt force impact and her heart yanked forcefully from her ribcage as little more than a gruesome trophy.

    You get the idea.

Her eyes shut, Riana could not help but take one deep breath as she tried everything in her arsenal to keep herself steady. Riana was not accustomed to the concept of death, for she was not willing to consort with the truth of the afterlife or lack thereof; she refused death outright as an option for she did not wish it, ever, to be the final answer. In her mind, she could not, would not, die. She did not accept it. She willingly railed against it at every turn. Yet here, she was unable to avoid its indelible grasp, for every single image of her was little more than another way that her life ended. She wanted to vomit. Truly, she did. This was not the thing she wished to see.

Yet, the moment she took another step, the room vanished, only to reveal the end of the maze yet no others in sight. She passed the portal.

Pale, short of breath, and heart pouding so fast that it threatened to leap from its cage, Riana Maren was grateful that death's spectre had not claimed her.

Post by Killua 15th November 2021, 2:16 am

At some point, Kil had opened up the bag that Ri had given him and started munching on the candy inside, it was bliss for him, she had gotten so much candy, he had nothing to worry about until the end night. As he licked his finger from all the leftover sugar, Ri and Kismet had disappeared, the more he looked around the more he couldn't recognize the place he was in. It looked withered, nothing like the maze they had entered earlier.

Nevertheless, he started walking in a random direction, hand in the bag of candy munching along the way. Passing by a mirror, Kil took a few steps back and looked at himself, why wasn't he in his costume? And he looked younger, with what looked like Directive gear and equipment strapped to him. Suddenly, a few voices could be heard, voices that felt all too familiar to him. Turning around he could see two people, dressed similarly to him.

He knew all too well who they were, his previous teammates, one was missing but it was still them. Like on instinct he moved towards them, it looked like they were talking but he couldn't make out what they were saying, no sound was coming out. As he got closer both of them extended a hand towards him. However, he didn't take it, he moved past them a fought a tear from falling down, he wanted to spend time with them again, they were as close to family as it could get, and yet they were gone and he had already accepted that.

Suddenly he found himself in front of a door, turning the doorknob, he found himself back to where he previously was, Kismet and Ri were in sight along with a mage that was on the ground.

"You know it's not really smart to play with people's fears," Kil said, taking a bit of candy from Ri's bag and throwing it into his mouth.

"I swear, I don't see what your fears are or make them, it's just part of the magic and for the night." He said as he feared the trio that stood in front of him as Kismet had punched him earlier apparently.

"Whatever, let's go, don't need to make a scene and spoil the fun." He said, tapping Kismet on the shoulder as to not punch the man anymore.

It was getting pretty late, almost past midnight to be exact. "Well, I had fun at least, not at the last part so much, but I enjoyed it. Especially the candy!" Putting a few more into his mouth he began to speak with a mouthful. "So wanna head home?" It was easy for them, with the use of the tattoos they could just teleport back to the castle in Hakobe.
