Kismet had departed Peace Village, where she had used her charm to steal a famous fudge recipe from an unsuspecting young man. She saved a duplicate of the recipe, as well as several others, after she turned in the job. She had now arrived in Era, but had to be cautious in Era because it was the headquarters of the Magic Council, which decides the fate of the magical world. Not only that, but it was also the home of both the Magic Council and the Rune Knights. When it came down to it, she didn't think she'd be able to take on any actual Rune Knights, and at best, she'd be able to take on a new recruit. After all, individuals strong enough to take on wizards tended to be ranked higher. Thinking a moment, no she could take them on and relished the idea of testing her skills out on a proper knight.

Her journey to Era began when she intercepted a letter asking legal wizards to accompany a young man to a banquet. According to the letter, the client's wife died recently, and their child has grown up with anger and a generally pessimistic outlook. Kismet being given the chance to be able to masquerade as a legitimate wizard as well as play dress-up as a result of this almost made her giddy. The prospect of causing the noble distress piqued her interest, and she smiled even more. She'd get control of the young noble, then manipulate his emotions to wreck the night, or so that was her goal.

It cost her a favor, but she was able to have a buddy use a magical tool on her to convert her guild tattoo to one that was lawful. It would only last 48 hours, but she had plenty of time because the feast would only last a few hours.

Everyone was dressed in their best as they arrived at the party. Nobles and their wizards or guards were strewn around, chit-chatting. Kismet was escorting a short, overweight petulant manchild, who felt she was there for more than just to escort him. He embodied everything she despised about the social elite, and his loss of a parent just added to his ugliness. Still, she batted her eyes, smiled, and let him "accidentally" bump into her from time to time.

She spent the next few hours playing the game until it appeared like a good chance had presented itself. He had been grumbling about the presence of a fellow noble from a rival family. The second man was taller, more attractive, and had two guards, but he came from a family with less wealth and power. Kismet would eventually speak up.

"What kind of man does he believe she is? It should be about you, not him, at this celebration. He shows up with not one, but two women on his shoulders? You, not he, have experienced a loss....forgive me, Lord, for speaking out. I didn't mean to say those things out loud."

The noble manchild waved his hands as if oblivious to her words, but then repeated them aloud, as if he had come up with the thought all himself. Kismet sat back and watch her charge humiliate himself in front of everyone. As everyone gazed and spoke in low tones, he complained loudly to his parent. It only got worse after that, as he had a full-fledged meltdown.

Before ducking out, Kismet disguised her smile and double-checked that the guild tattoo of SABERTOOTH was visible the entire night.
