Hex sat reclined on a small two person couch in the Library of Oak.  The place was a major defining feature of the 'town',  one of the bigger towns.  Why they persist on referring to it as a town,  Hex couldn't say.  The city was a large one with many people drawn to the magical history of the area.  The historical attractions were one thing,  but the Library of Magic was the most complete in all of Fiore and challenged similar libraries in other nations as well.   It was here Hex decided to meet with Councilman Yushima,  her new employer.   It was better than before,  when she was a basic faceless low-rank Rune Knight who had to hide her...  "Extracurricular Activities".   Now what she did on her own volition was part of her actual job description.  At least,  that's the idea she was getting out of all of this.

She waited here,  in the Library,  to meet up with the Councilman.   He was taking her out for a test drive it seemed and they were to investigate- no,  Infiltrate,  a dark guild by the name of Demon Scorpion.  That's all Hex knew before hand.   She'd have to wait for the Councilman to receive further instructions.    She was asked not to be seen,  so she had used her Devil Dice to lose potential tails and shift into the form of a cat that she used to hitch a ride into Oak where she slunk off to a secluded place to roll up a disguise.  When she stepped out of the shadows her white hair was gone,  replaced by long purple hair.  Her pale skin now dark,  and her eyes a bronze like brown.   The dice told her this disguise would last for four days.    Her Cat Suit was worn under a very loose fitting oriental attire,   the fur trimming was compressed out of the way,  and the suit otherwise was form fitting enough that made for a convincing set up without anything looking unnatural.

She still gave off the air of a mage,  but that was the point.  Her outfit looked battle-ready with black leather straps and buckles keeping the loose garb in place.  Stylized ropes trimmed the outfit and the light purple on black color scheme matched her skin and hair quite well.  The black of the over outfit blending with the Cat suit beneath it,  making it look even more natural and not as though she was stuffing her clothes.   She wasn't as tall as she use to be,  but this body's cat like eyes were sly and naturally intimidating.  All in all,  Hex was highly satisfied with her disguise and couldn't have asked for a better one to infiltrate this dark guild, Demon Scorpion.

Councilman Yushima knew where they were meeting and knew about her magic,  so as an indicating factor Hex was sitting in a specific wing of the library,  her two dice by her side on the table next to the couch.  They were stacked one on top of the other with the six side facing up on the top and the six side on the bottom facing Hex.  Subtle.  And you'd be hard pressed to find anyone else in the library reading with a set of dice next to them in the first place let alone at a specific wing and time.

To pass the time,  as well as both to look more natural and out of general interest,   Hex was reading a book related to the magics of the underworld,  the nature of a Dark Mage,  and a book on exorcism.   Next to her rested a small pile of books of similar subjects that lay in various positions with page holders marking spots as she cross checked references within the books doing in depth research on the subject;   Which wasn't really a subject so much as a general theme.   How to nullify Faustian Pacts with dark forces,   how to bind said dark forces,  and so on.

Post by Steigmaz Yoverin 16th August 2013, 10:49 pm

Steigmaz had been preparing for this event for quite some time now. He wanted to establish order within Town. You see for the past few years of his life he had been studying and practicing an ancient and dark magic so that he could amass the military potential to crush anyone whom stood in his way, that way he could eventually return to his homeland and root out the evil influences whom took his family away from him. This plan had been plotted for what seemed a lifetime, and it was through this plan that Steigmaz finally could achieve peace. Despite his insistence over the years for people to back him in his goal for creating prosperity through force, many opposed him. Be they good or bad in terms of morality. All thankfully however, fell. One after another. There was no mercy at the hands of the Steigmaz, and their various gods showed them no favor.

It was for that alone that Steigmaz decided the only way to become the last true bastion of peace in the world, was to completely change who he was. He cut off his hair, removed permanently it's green pigment, and fixed his grotesque teeth. Permanently altering his appearance to levels that would even fool himself, he became quite the popular wizard. A member of the Southern Wolves guild, many in Fiore grew to love his resourcefulness and justice at any cost philosophy. Though they never really understood how literal he was being about that statement. The man seemed to believe in his own power, and no one knew he even had magic due to being a very adept martial artist. It was the perfect foil. Steigmaz smirked to himself for a moment, thinking about how much of a badass he was, whilst ignoring obviousness.

What obviousness in fact? Well his impulsive behaviors towards people asking him questions while in deep thought seemed to have taken a hold of him, as he found himself strangling a member of Demon Scorpion with his overbearingly sturdy grip. With one hand holding the recruits entire body off the ground. You see Demon Scorpion was not a a freebased guild, they specialized in Defensive and Weapon based magics. For this reason they were not capable of being a massive threat, but with the rise of Bridget Clockhammer, they were surely making the step in the right direction. Oh yes.

She was the first member of the guild to actually have elemental magic, and therefore was one of the stronger members of the guild to boot. Even though she seemed to be in control of the guild, and thus making this the perfect time to strike at the guild, she seemed to not have liked a massive amount of the members whom were there, and slaughtered them all. This meant that the guild was openly recruiting. It was therefore an extremely lucky situation in it's own right. The only thing now would be to eliminate and execute this she-bitch immediately. However this task would be as simple as walking into the building and snapping a finger for Steigmaz, it was not the his showcase. He was here to break in an rather attractive female. Let's face it, attractive is an understatement, the things he would do to that girl would surely leave her with back problems. That's for sure. However he could not think of her this way. She was to be his right hand, and not in the fun way. So it was important that he groomed her properly. Speaking of which. He had to meet her about now.

Coming back to reality, the man would squeeze his hand for a moment and immediately he was capable of bursting all of the blood vessels in the young mages neck. Causing the eyes to bleed along-side the sides of the mouth and out of the nostrils. Without taking a second to mourn the scum, he jacked the young lads clothing and changed into it no problem. He had even taken the time earlier in the day to dye the tips of his hair red. He did after-all have to infiltrate this place for the sake of justice and world peace. Okay, maybe that was a bit of a stretch, however it didn't phase him. Moving swiftly. Now fully dressed, he entered the library and stood before a strange appearing female. She was not as attractive in her current form, and the dice gave away the identity. "Let's get moving." He stated as he turned, he knew she would recognize him, after-all he only added a fake scar to his face with make up to change his over-all appearance. It only took awhile, but they finally made it to the guild-hall, right outside the front gates. "You take the lead. Show me your moves."

As Hex red her books intently prying information from the pages and memorizing passages,  dust collecting in the air around her but a lucky little cross breeze carried it away from her because of the librarian who just opened a window, she noted, but paid no further mind.
"Cum mori caelum, ignis ardens super lapidem, lapidem summum wades per maria, per quem devoret favilla."   She repeated under her breath.  She recognized the words for fire, stone, sea, and skies but couldn't make sense of it on her own so she set the book down on the table and reached for the dictionary just within reach.  Flipping through it she was able to translate the passage somewhat.   Death of skies,  fire burning stone,  stone splitting sea,  and seas swallowing coals.  Or something like that.   A very rough translation,  Hex wasn't exactly experienced at this stuff.  But she could make a rough guess as to what it was trying to say.

Whatever it was for though,  was not what she was looking for.   She continued her research into pacts and bindings on her own with only the silence of pages turning and notes scrawling heard by her own hand or by those others throughout the library.   Mentally,  she'd been keeping a several loose indexes of what she'd read and pages she'd stopped with how they related to other points in the other books,  but she'd also been keeping some care to her surroundings.    Librarian to the left six meters behind her desk,  the open window behind her letting in a cool breeze to combat the hot day.   A scholar behind the shelves ahead of her was talking to himself about alchemagic recopies and failed attempts in achieving the "Perfect Hair Growth" formula. Apparently other formulas don't produce enough bounce, pleasant scents, vibrancy, and sheen he was looking for.   Far to her right on the other end of the room was a serious looking man with a handle bar mustache and small rectangle glasses that was dressed in dark orange leathers.  He was silently looking at books one by one, searching for something but he didn't seem to know what.

All of these people were in some way associated with either Library staff, the Magic Council, or the Rune Knights as this room as with many other rooms were off limits to the casual civilian as the books in this room were all classified as threatening knowledge.  The books here could raise dark magics,  evil forces,  told of secrets best unspoken,  and were generally things to keep out of the public reach.  However,  such resources held value to those in power and those who keep to Justice.   All the worst books were,  supposedly,  destroyed or sealed in even higher security often within the MC itself or with the King.  Hex was permitted here because of her new Lightsworn status,   if that wasn't enough then perhaps it was because she had permission to be here from Councilman Yushima ahead of time.   She didn't ask,  but the allowance should last and she could return here at a later time.   She'd have to explain her appearance though.  That could be inconvenient.

With the attention she paid to the quiet library,  it was well enough to hear when the Councilman arrived.  She spared a quick glance after a few seconds when she knew he should be visible through the bookshelves for a moment,  between a gap of books.   It was the Councilman after all.   She started organizing her thoughts and on a little piece of paper wrote down her references and page numbers until the Councilman approached her.   It was an easy spot,  considering she was only one of two women here with the other being a librarian.  The dice weren't necessary but it likely helped a little,  extra verification.  After all,  she could have missed the meeting for some reason and some other woman would be sitting here instead of her.

She was ready by the time he spoke and closed her book sharply,  a little puff of dusty air hanging in the air as a result.   She stacked her books on top each other to carry them all at once,  the stack of eight thick books might have been heavy but the strength- as well as weight- of her true form carried over despite what this new form may look like and she the stack of books was no effort for her.   She placed the books on the librarian's counter so she can enter them into her little log book then restack them on her own,  making sure they were placed in correct order for future readers.

Councilman Yushima led her out of the building and only about six blocks away before surprisingly landing right in front of the Demon Scorpion Guild Hall.    So the Library was more then a little relevant of a meeting spot after all.    The Demon Scorpion's Guild Hall was inconspicuous enough,  she'd not have noticed it in passing if the Councilman hadn't said so.   But not that she knew what it was she could see the guild's symbol and color scheme ingrained into the design of the place...   A public theater.    Hex might have felt right at home if it didn't bring back painful memories and missed opportunities.

Hex of course saw what the Councilman was doing even if he didn't outright say it,  he didn't have to.  He could have obviously done this on his own with perhaps little effort.   'show me your moves',  right.  Well.  She thought to herself for a moment.  I wonder if there was any need for my evasiveness or this disguise.  Fuck it.   Hex snapped her fingers and dissolved her disguise,  her lilac hair snapping in some unseen wind as it returned to it's normal length and color,  her skin brightening until she was her usual soft pinkish self,  her body expanding in scale until she was her usual six foot five self,  over a foot difference from her disguise. From a pocket she pulled out a thin mask she placed ove her eyes, hiding them behind pitch black lenses.  She stood taller then the Councilman now,  but she stood taller then many- even most- people,  so the comparison didn't even cross her mind.    She ripped off the cover costume that masked her Cat Suit and with a little motion made it's white fur trimming decompress to become it's usual fluffy self.

Sparing no further time,  Hex sent four barbed tendrils of wire bolting forward to pound into the wooden building,  each coil hitting with a solid thud as they embedded themselves.   It took just a second each as Hex went window to window,  door to door,  barring off all exits save for the front door with anchored bands of her coils as good as iron bars.   It was a quick thing to do,  there weren't many.  Theaters usually didn't have many,  there were only the double doors in the front,  two side exits and two rear exits with only two windows on the upper level of the building.  Theaters didn't often have many windows at all,  but they did have several doors.

When she kicked the font doors in Hex got a view of the Grand Entrance, a big room with red carpet stretching from the front to a ticket stand. Two curved staircases bordered the room up to a second floor with an open balcony facing inward and rooms on the other side. Four mages were in here, two were by the door and with an outward pushing motion with both hands cast lances of barbed wire that sunk deep into their chest wrapped around their bodies before disconnecting leaving them wound like an insect about to be devoured by a spider. Two more mages were up on the balcony, and in seeing what happened were able to pull out two long weapons she'd seen before, in the Neutral Grounds. Rifles. Reacting to this Hex shot a cord under the balcony embedding itself into the wall and then she pulled herself towards it in a moment, feet facing the wall with the hand controlling the coil between her legs. With her free hand she shot a bolt of coil at one of the mages and saw it embed itself in the mage's forehead square between the eyes before with a flourish of her wrist she sent it ripping out of his skull to swipe at the other gunner, who got a shot off at her forcing her to react to that and throwing her aim off, making her swipe of barbed wire go over the gunner's head as she hit the wall under the balcony.

Claws dug into the wall, black claws that the adapted suit formed around extended from Hex's hands and feet, they bore into the wall enough that she could climb, with the additional aid of four coils that extended from her back and moved at her thought as easily as extra arms to dig into the wall. A long, thin, but furry black tail extended from her tailbone, small black cat-ears stuck out from the white of her hair, and as Hex flipped herself over the balcony's railing she opened her mouth with a hiss that was made more fearsome by two long fangs.
