    Christmas Fun! Empty Christmas Fun!

Post by Guest 26th December 2020, 6:47 am

Everything seemed to have a little extra sparkle to it now. It’d been that way for the last few days and her meeting with Adronica. The vampire had taken it upon herself to implant Menka’s newest lacrima for her and the procedure had gone without a hitch, resulting in the kitsune now having yet another brand new magic to explore. However, what she hadn’t expected was the change in her psyche. She’d always been a fun loving minx but that had seemed to magnified now. Her crimson eyes just seemed to drip with whimsy and pleasure. It could be seen in her walk, heard in her voice and even felt in her magical aura. It felt amazing and as the vixen arrived in Clover Town, she couldn’t have been in a better mood.

To her delight, the whole town was in the midst of a festival, with games and activities everywhere she looked. A perfect place for her to celebrate her latest success and without any further or do, the brunette started to explore the stalls. It was pretty difficult to keep her eyes focused on anything for too long and her head almost seemed to be on a swivel, trying to take in everything that was going on around her. What should she do first? Perhaps a drink or a go at one of the games? There was so much to do and so little time but as it happened, the choice was taken from her rather quickly, not that she complained.

A hand would grasp hold of her and pull her close, resulting in Menka finding herself face to face with an attractive looking guy. Brown hair, blue eyes and about the same height as hers. For a second, she wondered why he had grabbed her but his eyes rose and hers naturally followed. A sprig of mistletoe was attached to the stall that they were standing beside, placed over their heads. A smirk crossed her face and not needing any further encouragement, the slayer pushed him up against the stall and kissed him hard, not even asking for his name first. It didn’t matter at the moment and the pair just made the most of the moment. Menka’s ears twitched as she heard wolf whistles and clapping from those walking past but that wasn’t anything new to her. She had no idea what it was but every sensation seemed to give her an extra buzz and the kitsune pondered if perhaps she’d not only inherited Adronica’s magic but her personality too. Wow, what a benefit that would be!

She'd been quite happy to have spent the entire day kissing him but eventually they broke apart, both bright red in the face which had nothing to do with the cold. He’d had a lot of gall to have pulled her in but it only made him more appealing to her. He didn’t utter a word and simply flashed a smirk before wandering off although Menka gave him something else to remember her by before he could get away by whipping him playfully with one of her tails. The encounter ended as quickly as it started but the kitsune didn’t mind. With a chuckle, she’d continue on her way, curious as to what else the event would have for her.

Within a few minutes, her attention was quickly captured by a large stage with a rather nervous looking guy trying to sing for a small crowd of people. He tried his best but he didn’t seem to quite have the confidence to pull off the performance he wanted to, judging from the reaction from the crowd. They didn’t boo him or anything like that but they certainly weren’t jumping up and down either. Menka couldn’t just leave the poor guy and so without much thought, the kitsune made her way through the crowd and jumped up on the stage beside the man. For a second, he seemed startled but once she picked up a microphone and started to sing along, he quickly understood and started to happily continue. Together, they managed to turn the crowd around and soon they were singing along with the duo. The change in the singer's attitude was amazing and he finally started to blossom, singing with all his heart, confidence restored. In the end, the two ended up singing half a dozen carols before they were finally cheered off of the stage. It'd been a lot of fun and the crowd were overjoyed, slapping her on the back as she walked away.

She wasn’t wandering for too long though as a lovely line of christmas trees came into view, alongside a group of folks who looked like they were preparing for a contest or something. Curious, the kitsune would approach but before she could get a question in, the event started, with one of the organisers coming over to her and handing her a box. With a shrug, she’d open the box to discover a lovely supply of ornaments and tinsel, enough to make her eyes light up with glee. Unfortunately, her standing around watching gave the other people taking part a chance to get started decorating quickly, resulting in her having to play catch up. Still, it was all in good fun and with a competitive smirk crossing her features, the vixen would start to decorate her own tree, giving hers a touch of her own style. It was an awful lot of fun and in the end, Menka wasn’t sure just how long she spent working on her creation. It could have been minutes or hours and in fact, she spent so long that she only just managed to place a sweet little angel on the top before the event was brought to a close.

With a happy smile, the brunette would step back to look over her tree and chuckled at the result. She thought she’d done a pretty good job and as the judges came around to have a look, they seemed to agree with her, nodding their heads approvingly and smiling at her. She wasn’t sure if hers was going to win or not but sadly, she’d never know the result for just as the judges had finished deliberating and were about to give out the prizes, an incredibly cold wind would blow through and a rather grumpy figure would approach. It seemed that he was pretty well known too, as the crowd quickly dispersed, leaving the kitsune alone with what appeared to be an unpleasant old man.

“Bah humbug!” He grumbled, watching the vixen, a scowl crossing his features. The cold wind was clearly coming from him and with a sigh, Menka prepared herself for what was bound to be an unpleasant encounter.

“Seriously?” She replied, “Did you really have to come and ruin everything? Lighten up and make the most of the festive season.”

“Oh, I will make the most of the season by making as much money as possible off of all these greedy souls.” His voice was bereft of anything besides coldness. “That is all Christmas is! A chance for the rich to become even richer! Yet, I sense that you are clearly a mage so I guess I will have to get rid of you, before I set my plans into motion.”

Without another word, the old man would wave his hands and summon a ghost like spirit. A young woman but pale and see through, with a look of sadness upon her face. Floating off the ground, she’d briefly watch the fox, before creating a shard of ice and hurling it towards Menka. The vixen was ready though and rolled out of the way, before creating a lightning javelin and throwing it at full force back, resulting in the spirit spasming after the attack made contact. She didn’t seem all that strong but as the kitsune came in close to finish off the spirit, the girl would manage to fire a sphere of black magic towards the vixen, causing the slayer’s vision to distort.

All of a sudden, memories began to flood Menka’s mind, horrible memories that had long been forgotten. Moments of her past that she’d never wanted to relive again, mostly of her arguments with her mother from her childhood. Those early lessons where her magic was forced upon her and the endless attacks that her mother would assault her with in order to get her to learn it. Nakina had never taken no for an answer and Menka had suffered so much under her mothers brutal guidance.

Yet, Menka clenched her fists and howled in an inhumanly loud screech, firing a powerful blast of lightning that tore through the illusions and smashed into the spirit, causing her to explode in a burst of spiritual energy. “Don’t try those games with me!” She hissed, her tails swishing from left to right. “I have no desire to relive such memories and forcing them upon me will only make things worse for you, old man.”

“Pfft,” he replied, before unleashing another spirit upon the vixen.

This one looked a little like the first although she looked far older and was dressed like a queen of sorts, crown and all. What was more, she was riding a skeletal reindeer, who stared at Menka with its cold soulless eye sockets. With a wave of her hand, the spirit would summon a large sword into her hand and charge towards the vixen, her mount’s heavy footsteps causing the ground to shake. Yet, rather than get out of the way, Menka would summon a crossbow, dripping with blood and carefully aim, closing one eye in order to find the perfect spot. The reindeer and its rider closed in until they were almost upon her, before she finally loosened the bolt, striking the reindeer and causing it to shriek as the poison that the blood contained seeped in. Bolting and rearing, it would send the spirit queen flying off, causing her to crash to the ground in a heap. Clambering to her feet, the spirit would grasp her sword and swing for the kitsune, only to be met by the lightning claws of the slayer. Slashing away the blade, Menka would strike with a pair of powerful blows, channelling her magical energy into them, her power rising. The first would knock the spirit back and the second would catch her flush, sending her back to the spirit realm.

Her heart almost beating out of her chest due to the thrill of combat, a sensation that she’d only even discovered recently, Menka would activate her Force ability, causing her magical power to erupt around her. Her body would become surrounded by the powers of her three slayer magics, bending them to her will. Thunder, blood and cookie all became one, under her command. God, it felt so damn good, as it always did when she activated Force. Her eyes became almost glazed over by the sheer ecstasy of it.

“Not bad but you are just an animal,” The old man stated, “A half human creature that does not even belong on this Earth. You belong in a zoo, to be gawked at by…”

“Save it,” Menka replied, a passionate smirk crossing her features, “I’ve been hearing that kind of shit for centuries and I never get tired of it. Keep spouting it for all I care.”

Without any further words, Menka would dart towards him, her powers of electricity enveloping her in an almost dome like structure. Barrelling forwards, she gave him little time to react and so he was only just able to summon yet another spirit in front of him to take the impact. It was a shadowy creature, cloaked and letting off a rather chilly vibe but that was easily burnt away by the heat that Menka was giving off. The kitsune hit the spirit hard and went straight through the creature, leaving it in two halves as it disappeared into nothing. It didn’t even get an attack off and such was the momentum that the vixen ended up ploughing into the old man himself, launching them both to the ground hard.

Rolling off of him, Menka would quickly get back to her feet but rather than defend himself physically, the git would instead resummon his three spirits, much to the vixen’s annoyance. The three of them would block her path from him, all ready to defend him but without the slightest hint of fear, Menka would raise her hand to the sky and cause a combination of lightning and blood to strike from the sky, stunning and weakening them while raising Menka’s own formidable strength. The combination of paralysis and poison was difficult for the spirits to fight and the brunette wasted no time at all, upon them swiftly, she would carve through them with her claws, slashing left and right and sending them back to the spirit world once more. Looking back, she might come to regret her actions in treating them so harshly but as it was, they were doing the work of an evil man and had to be treated as such themselves. They did his bidding, after all.

In desperation, he would try to fire a jet black burst of magic from his hand in order and try to instil her with fear but the elation and thrill of the fight was so strong with her that she was able to power through it. Opening her mouth, she’d fire a blast of holy blood towards him, ending the fight and leaving him to lay motionless on the ground.

Panting, the kitsune would then stand over her fallen foe, victorious and proud of her achievements. No sooner had the fight ended, the organisers of the festival would soon reappear and thank her for her efforts, before dragging the old man away to be dealt with by the authorities. It had been a memorable festival for sure but as Menka deactivated her Force and returned to the festivities, she couldn’t help but smile.
