Fingers brushed softly against the fabric of the jumper beneath her fingers, it was supposed to be an 'ugly sweater', but it had actually come out quite nice. It would seem all of those years of experience had not left her, it had been so long since she knitted anything. It was a hobby she had forgotten about since she walked out of the doors of her prior household, Wyatt's corpse left with it. Yet here at the Christmas festival, she had found herself wandering toward the stall, why had she sat down? Festivals had become something that she often found herself at with Johann, but not this year, after their getaway work had picked up and finding a moment to themselves was difficult this particular week. It was a shame, truthfully Amalie had gotten used to those little moments with her lover, so much so that they had become pockets of safeness and comfort. Pockets of peace rather, and without them she just felt so out of balance. Why she felt this way was another mystery, surely things were much more peaceful now, there was no reason to be concerned and yet she was. Her body was riddled with uncertainty, what had happened with Charles? What was he planning?

She knew better than to assume that her late husband's sibling had given up on his pursuit of her, the man was ruthless when it came to seeking vengeance against those who had wronged him. And no one had wronged him more than her. Which was why the quiet unnerved her, she had no idea what to expect or when to expect it. She stood up, having finished the last stitch on her jumper, it was a soft burgundy colour, white snowflakes stitched across the service. The Dies Irae guild mark patterned into each snowflake in a subtle manner, a little guild memorabilia, she wondered who to give it to. Would Johann wear this? Or perhaps Sivvy? Tucking it neatly into her bag, she would offer a small tip to the vendor for the materials, before wandering away. She could just head back now, but she didn't really feel like going home yet. She needed more time... to think.

As she wandered, she found herself casually strolling into what appeared to be some kind of Tree Decorating contest. Each tree like a green blank canvas, ready to be prettied up in a Christmas manner. Amalie had always found herself conflicted over this, on one hand, it seemed like a completely pointless endeavour. On the other hand, she could see why people liked it, she had decorated a few trees during her years as a Corvin always on her own though. Never had she decorated a tree with anyone else, she wondered if she would get to this year, would they put up a tree in Dies Irae?

Going to the vendor, she signed herself up for the contest, taking the box she was given and heading over to one of the unselected tree's. She eyed it for a moment, before checking the box to see what she had to work with. It wasn't especially full, but she could work with it to make something somewhat pleasant. Pulling out the silver stream of tinsel, she began to work, allowing her mind to drift as she did so. Random thoughts wandering in and out of her train of thought, nothing too important. Things she remembered about work, plans for the weeks ahead, a list of groceries to buy. She at the very least planned to contribute to a Christmas dinner at the guild, cooking was her forte after all. The prospect of making a delicious turkey filled with chestnut stuffing was enough to stimulate whatever semblance of Christmas spirit the Commander had. Time passed quickly, and so the work went on, until the tree was done, or at least she had used up everything in the box. Amalie eyed the tree, it was okay, not as nice as some of the others. This was a contest though, perhaps there was a way to make it prettier. She considered this for a moment, looking down at her gloved fingers. Technically her magic involved the art of creation, she just needed to know the formula for what she was making. Which was easier said than done, perhaps she could combine two existing spells to create something. "Shards." She would call out, obediently her glass would appear. Broken fragments floating around her, they would buzz toward her, she pulled off one of her gloves, spreading her palm, a single shard would hoover above her hand.

"Burn." Flames erupted from her fingers, engulfing the glass, piece by piece fragments would join it. Glowing under the intense heat, and linking themselves to the original piece before the entire part would float out of the flames, lowering itself to the snowy floor. Amalie reached down, picking up her creation, eyes liting up slightly. It had worked! Her lips would reveal the flicker of smugness as she attached the newly crafted snowflake to the tree, before repeating the process until the tree was full of newly crafted glass ornaments. She mixed it up, making patterned icicles and glass baubles here and there. As she stepped away, the tree looked much better, she reached for her iLac. Taking a small picture for herself, a rare installation in her camera feed, which was mostly just pictures of food.

It was a nice moment, but unfortunately, it wouldn't last long. She felt a sudden chill, her instincts warning her of impending danger. Amalie... She would hear Anima but she already knew, she turned, unused shards ready to attack but coming to a quick halt as she spotted what it was. A small girl stood across from her, with long white hair, and skin so pale it was practically blue. She stared at Amalie quietly, "What do you want?" Amalie would call out to the girl, was this even a girl? She didn't seem human, but what was she?  She's a spirit, linked to Christmas and time. Proceed with caution Amalie, she's not especially strong, but she is tricky.

"That's a pretty nice tree babygirl," Amalie froze, the hairs on the back of her neck standing on end, that voice so familiar that it would send instantaneous terror through the blue-haired woman. She turned her head slowly, not again, not this. She had endured enough during her venture to the cursed lands when she had been hit by an attack from the plant that had caused her to hallucinate. When was he going to stop haunting her? Yet she knew that this time, she wasn't high, this was the work of the spirit girl. Yet as she eyed him, he looked so ...real.

"Why don't ya ever look pleased to see me? What's the matter love, murder got ya tongue?" Wyatt chortled to himself, moving closer, Amalie's glass shifted yet she found herself unable to move as he approached. He wasn't real, this was a trick and yet her magic wouldn't work. Why couldn't she attack? Was it the shock? Was it the Spirits power? She would feel his fingers wrapped around her throat, squeezing tightly as she was lifted off the ground.

"Now isn't this familiar, so many times I had your life in my hands. Could've snuffed you out whenever I wanted, but I didn't cause I loved you. Still love you Ama, miss you so very much," His fingers squeezed tighter, cutting off her air supply, she wheeze clutching his ice-cold hands desperately, trying to peel him off of her. Why wasn't her glass attacking, if this continue, he really would kill her this time. "Here's an idea, let's be together. Now I know what you're thinking, but you're dead Wyatt. But there's a simple fix babygirl, all you would have to do, is join me." Her vision began to blur, she was going to pass out any second and then he really would kill her.

Forgive me Amalie, I'm afraid I have no choice... Suddenly Anima's magic would flood through her. His power coursing through her, not the magic they shared but his own power, the power he held back from her. She would feel her consciousness pulled back, like being thrown out of her own head and into someone else's. A mere observer. Her body would glow with holy light, as she began to transform. As the light faded, the ice replication of her late husband would no longer be holding Amalie, but Anima.

"The fuck is this...?" Wyatt remarked, eyes wide with bafflement. "That's quite enough out of you." Anima reached forward, palm extended toward his restrainer's face, flicking Wyatt's forehead. A small gesture, but so powerful that the force of it would send him flying backwards. He would smash into a nearby stall, his body cracking under the force of the blow, crumbling into nothing more than a pile of ice. Anima turned on the spot, facing the spirit who continued to watch, the smallest frown on her face. Anima gave her no time, his outstretched palm now turning to her as he began to recite.

"For if God spared not the angels that sinned,
but cast them down to hell,
and delivered them into chains of darkness,
    to be reserved unto judgment;"

The ground would erupt in light, scripture appearing on the snow in golden, forming a circle beneath the spirit. From which chains would burst out of the earth, wrapping themselves around the spirit. The girl looked shocked, surprised that such magic would be able to hold her, she quickly struggled against the ties, but to no avail, as the chains would drag the spirit down into the earth, and continue on into the underworld where she belonged. Thank you Anima... Amalie said to him, observing from his mind, the hint of frustration in her thoughts.

"It's alright, the creature used your memories to immobilize you. Intervening was merely the best option, I will return your body to your shortly, I just wish to deal with theses pests first." On cue, he would turn to look upon the next arrival, another spirit, this one like an older version of the girl they had just faced, riding upon a skeletal reindeer.

Wasting no time, Anima would take control of the shards Amalie had summoned prior, sending them toward the creature. He knew full well that this being would try to affect his mind somehow, as the other had done to Amalie. But he would not allow it. The shards would hack away at the creature, not permitting it to get close to them. Instead, it would force them toward the magic circle he had created for the previous spirit, whilst this one was stronger than the young girl, it was still no match for him. The woman on the deer had no choice but to be pushed back by the onslaught of glass, destroying any ice weapon she tried to make before it so much as got close to him. The attacks which would steer them into the very spot he desired. Before the chains shot up from the earth and began to pull her down, reunited her with the Spirit of Past. That was two done, he would sense that two more would come.

Screams filled the air, the scent of blood reaching him, telling him that the next one had arrived. But this was not like the others, this perhaps was the most sinister, Anima could feel the fluxation of power around him. These creatures dabbled with time, and time was not a toy that one should play with. He felt a rage grow within, a burning heat rising through the seal of the apocalypse, time was a device that belonged solely to his father. For these creatures to fiddle with it so casually, it was nothing short of a great sin. He did not meet the sight that the creature had made, for he knew the predictions. The scenario that the beast was attempting to show him; The Apocalypse. Anima... what is this? Is this... the future? Her voice, which was normally so calm was shaken, horrified by what she was witnessing.

Amalie would feel Anima's frustration, but she could not read what he was thinking. It seemed that the channel to each other thoughts was a one-way street. He would spread his palm, and release a burst of fire toward the newest ghost, the flames engulfing the cloaked being, destroying it within moments. "It was an illusion Amalie, it's not real." He told her firmly, and with the destruction of the creature the illusion of a scene so utterly terrible that it could only be described as catastrophic, would fade. Yet Amalie could not shake the sight from her mind, illusion or not, he hadn't answered her question.

    Was this her future?

The final opponent would arrive, appearing in the form of an old man with a top hat and glasses. Around him the spirit would reappear, eager to attack the one who destroyed them. Anima could feel the emotions they were trying to impose on his body, unfortunately for the creatures. Quelling such negative emotions was child's-play for him, and so as the enemy descended upon them he would cast his spell; "Obliterate." The magical swords would thunder down upon their enemy and in a matter of moments the summoner and his ghosts would be reduced to nothing. The chains snaking forth and dragging their bodies down into the earth, bringing silence to the festival once more.

    END
