Munching on a ball of Frost Lightning Amelia had offered, Mai was at peace within Ace of Spades when a notice directly specifically for her came in. It was that old herbalist, Tia, who had another request. The handwriting was poor, but nonetheless, Mai still begrudgingly accepted. Luna and Amelia had just left on jobs, so Mai was now left to her own devices to do as she pleased or to do what she could to prepare for this big job Luna said they would do. So, finishing off the Frost Lightning, Mai set off for Beanstalk Village once more. The journey was far from exciting, with not even a light drizzle to sate Mai's appetite for the delicious tempests. At times, her journey felt as if it was being watched, but she thought nothing of it. More intriguing were those same weeds that Mai could have sworn were not there the first time. Again, she thought little of it, merely skipping her way along the roads.

She reached Tia's hut, knocking on the door. She flung the door open and yanked Mai's arm to drag her into the building. "The plants," she muttered. "They dig their roots into anything and everything. Even that one you uprooted, its roots sprung back into action, see! Their roots eventually get so big that they form an entirely new plant!"

Mai was confused by the explanation, but was understandably offset by the sudden introduction of a cough from outside. Mai, without a second thought, sprinted out the door, seeing a black-hooded man with his ear pressed against the wall. He tried to run, but Mai activated some Galeforce Boots and caught up with him in a flash, delivering a swift kick to his stomach. The man grimaced and pulled out a rapier with clear intent to kill. He rushed at Mai, who swiftly dodged out of the way before wrapping her arms in her tempest element, intent on finishing this fight quickly.

"Tempest God's Spire!" she cried, firing off the attack. The pillar of black-and-purple clouds engulfed the eavesdropper, who screamed in pain. This scream of pain would not deter Mai, however, who fired off a Tempest God's Bellow and prepared her fists in her element as she rushed in, punching the man in the face, knocking him out cold. Mai, satisfied with her work, turned towards Tia, smiling. "Would you be so kind as to call the Rune Knights?" Mai asked.

Tia did so, with the Rune Knights appearing within a matter of minutes to apprehend the eavesdropper. One of the knights came forwards to Mai, saying something along the lines of "someone of your power could probably work more with this can I could." Mai accepted the strange findings, a used match and a strange coin, before leaving with the villain. Mai turned to Tia, wondering if she knew what the deal was with either, to no avail. Instead, Tia offered to send all of her findings to yet another wizard with more skill in biology, which Mai was perfectly fine with, although a bit irked that she had come all this way for something that had ultimately been fairly pointless, or so it would have seemed.
