Post by Nohres Xaclamir 20th March 2019, 1:27 am

Little enticed him these days as he was often overcome with melancholy at how his life's desire and life's outcome had become so radically different. The boy that dreamed of being a hero forced to confront the cruel and evil acts that he had performed, obstinately in the name of survival, left him with little motivation. Short bursts of light shone in his life, such as the chance meeting with Trinity, but even those proved fleeting in the face of that all-consuming darkness that swirled in his chest. However, one did not simply ignore the rumor that a giant airship had been sighted floating above Crocus.

And so Ehoron set out for the capital of Fiore with a simple wish; to see this grand airship and perhaps find a new little spark of hope to light up his life. The road to the capital wasn't an especially perilous one; main thoroughfares were typically were constructed and well guarded. It would take an exceptionally foolish, or exceptionally powerful force to make an attempt on those who traveled the main roads. By the time he began to more regularly see and pass people on the road, Ehoron began to slow slightly.

His nerves began to creep at the back of his thoughts, stirring paranoia at every person that walked past. He vividly remembered Era, Shirotsume, and so many other places where he had let his darker instincts run rampant, and untold others where his darkness simply lashed out of its own accord. What if someone recognized him? Was that a risk he could take? His conscience fought itself as he continued to press on. The better side settled on the notion that if he were caught, it would only be justice and the minimum he deserved. His other half laughed and welcomed such a challenge, confident that he had seen the worst the world could throw at him.

    Rumours and Feathers

It had started out as pretty much other day, the youth had awoken before dawn and went through his morning routine of washing, changing his cloths, putting new water in the makeshift bird bath and laid out a plate of seed for the swallow family that he seemed to have adopted before going to get his own breakfast. As always he waited until the sun was at the right position before he ate and drank the small amount that he was use to before taking the things back inside and washing them. When that had been sorted he went through his normal speed, accuracy and awareness training he had no idea but recently it almost seemed as if the difficulty had been put up higher than what was normal. He guessed it could have been something that was programmed into the runes of the area by his missing adoptive elder brother, that when he got to a certain stage that it would get that much harder it was to be expected after all. Today however he got barely a third of the way around before he was to tired and hurt to continue as the traps weren't things he was quite use to and dealt more damage than would ordinarily be safe.

Moving down the tree that he wanted to end at he made a magical marking showing where he managed to get to before having to stop so he could gauge his progress in the future. After this was done he moved back to where he rested and moved to the small section he had as a changing area and changed from his ruined clothing coming back out shortly afterwards now dressed in a white male kimono with an ice blue and white fan pattern that had a hood, white hakama and matching shoes. He blinked hearing a voice around the corner and moved to see whom it was "Hello?" he said going to meet a receptionist "What's wrong?" he seemed curious but then he gave very little attention to gossip or rumours though given that no one ever came to what was now considered his bedroom unless it was important he guessed it was somewhat important. "There's an issue in capital crocus, seems a theft within the branch there, would you like me to send someone to take care of it?" the young read headed woman wearing a white and pastel pink dress he shook his head. "I'll take care of it personally, I have an errand there anyway." he said knowing that he needed to pick up something he had ordered for Arcadia, well that and going by Bennu would be faster than the airship. "Very well Mr. Mizune, I'll get preparations made for the journey." she said not knowing that he rarely used the company transport. "Please don't worry yourself, I will call for Bennu I can preen him along the way, he could likely do with stretching his wings too." he said with a warm smile walking passed the woman and down towards the area that was already looking like obsidian from when he called his companion. He had no idea that Bennu's kind were so hot they could do such a thing but after seeing what happened the first landing he decided to take measures so the whole continent didn't turn into mass sections of obsidian and fires.

Bracing himself against a nearby wall knowing what was to come he looked to the sky and began to speak "I ssannnnhan thi nnh tshh gairrtiin flinness shaf rredirrtsh" he called out, even now it was quite hard for him to say but still managed it seemingly effortlessly. Before long he heard a screech and a sonic boom showing that Bennu heard the calling if his summoner, it wasn't long after before the golden flamed phoenix had landed in his usual spot but had almost pushed the youth over the wall winding him in the process. Ruvel had forgotten to cover his ears so now he had an unbearable ringing in his ears that he knew was going to be there for hours, luckily this time it hadn't amounted to a headache or worse. Bennu chirped gently cocking his head before he was about to take a step off the obsidian area and got a stern look form Ruvel knowing he had to stay put but gave a small screech of annoyance "You know what your flames do." he reminded him catching his breath and walking forward stroking his beak "We both know you'd be upset if you burned something by accident." his voice gentle as Bennu turned his head seemingly to pout at what was said but Ruvel knew his summons well, especially the young Bennu as he almost became his first meal after hatching.

"Aww, don't be like that we're going for a fly today." the moment he said that he heard a happy chirp and before he could do anything else he was picked up by the large fire bird and plopped on his back this time however he covered his ears as the screech took place letting everyone within several miles know he was about to take off and the sonic boom that happened quickly afterwards. Once in the air he stroked the back of Bennu's neck smiling "We're heading to Crocus today, you remember where that is right?" he asked hearing light chirping and clicking as Bennu confirmed that he did, the flight was uneventful and during it Ruvel had decided to check over his companions feathers removing any black ones for the young phoenix's health. It didn't seem all that long before he had reached Crocus thanks to keeping himself busy with his task for as young as Bennu was he was still able to carry five people. As they grew nearer Bennu began to lower himself to the point Ruvel could see individual people moving up the path before he landed, nearer the city knowing that he couldn't go any further without risking people for now Ruvel remained on his companions back now tending to places he couldn't while in flight for safety reasons.

Rumors and Feathers Empty Re: Rumors and Feathers

Post by Nohres Xaclamir 22nd March 2019, 2:11 pm

The flutter caught his attention first; a distant thing that tickled the edges of his senses with a touch so light he could have so easily imagined it. However, the persistence of it, the steady beating of it against the back of his mind forced him to slow in his steps. Others began to pass him as his steps lessened until he stood still in the middle of the road, craning his head to the side ever so slightly as if to coax the sound further. It grew from a nearly imperceptible flutter to a distinct pulse that briefly parted all distractions.

Before the first gasps began to ripple through the crowds at the edge of the city, Ehoron turned and looked upwards. In the distance came the form of a giant bird, seemingly wreathed in flame. The longer he stared at it, the more he realized that what he was looking at was no illusion or mirage. Even from this distance, he could make out the general size of the bird and it was a truly massive creature. He realized with a start that it did not simply have brilliant feathers of orange and gold, but they were truly in fact flames shaped in the guise of feathers!

By now, others had begun to turn and stare. A wave of mutters began to stir through the throngs of people; some spoke in hushed tones of awe and excitement while others murmured in anxiety and mounting terror. For his part, Ehoron was not sure what to make of the creature, only that he knew it was coming their way. It began to dip low on approach, clearly intending to land in a clearing away from any persons or carriages that might be damaged. Curiosity began to well within him, and it was only further peaked when Ehoron realized that there was a person riding the bird.

The sight of such an incredible creature quickly drove from his mind images of airships and he could not help but stand there and continue to stare long after others had begun to shuffle onward with their journeys. There was something about seeing such a magnificent creature that inspired awe, more so when he had realized that there was someone riding, potentially commanding, such a bird. A part of him wanted to walk up to this person and talk to them, to hear all about this creature and the tales that surely came with it. However, that pit in his stomach stirred and welled, and Ehoron was forced instead to turn and hurry into the city. If he was going to get anything done or see anything within the city, he needed to do so quickly. He could feel that darkness stirring again, and he did not want to have it spread and lash out in the middle of such a place like Crocus. One last look backward at the giant bird and its rider and Ehoron disappeared into the city.

    Rumours and Feathers

Ruvel hadn't noticed that people had started looking at him and Bennu as he flied past, this might have been because it was the youth's regular way of travelling. He hated travelling by every form of transport due to the sense of fake freedom it gave, it was to close to the place he once called home. It was out in the open but in truth you could only go so far and couldn't go any further, it was something he disliked with a passion and if he had to be truthful with himself part of him was afraid that he would end up back there after a betrayal of someone he trusted. He shook his head to get such useless thoughts out of his head as he continued forward towards the town, those who lived within the capital city had been use to seeing the large golden phoenix but it didn't stop them from looking on in awe as he descended towards the obsidian patch that was his normal landing spot, he remembered the first time that he had landed and they said they were going ton fine him for damages until he reminded them that this was outside the city limits so they had no authority to do so.

He had also reminded him that were he had indeed done damage to the land around the city when bennu had landed it was better than him landing inside the city and burning everything down, this wasn't a threat in anyway only that this was the better of the two situations he did know however they enjoyed keeping everything looking as natural and untouched as possible so knew they would end up changing it back to how it was via magical means so paid a small tax to the capital each month so Bennu's landing spot would be left alone. He had even suggested a few ways for it to be decorated so it wouldn't be an eyesore to those passing by and it had seemed they had took his advice, as the place was surrounded in different types of fire flower that shimmered and shined like small stars from the cracks within the obsidian. Soon afterwards Bennu picked him up and from his back and popped the youth on the ground preening his summoners hair before nuzzling at him making him fall back on the ground, this was the normal routine at this point this went on for a good five to ten minutes before Ruvel stood and stroked the giant birds beak. "Time to go home Bennu, mother is most likely worried about you. Give her my love." he said listening to the mix of happy and sad chirps the large fire bird as he didn't want to go but did miss his mother, Ruvel stepped aside covering his ears this time as Bennu screeched and took off a sonic boom soon heard which again was normal. In honesty he hated his sensitive hearing but this is what it was to have some of the magic he had.

With Bennu gone he started walking towards the city greeting people along the way that had said good morning to him, this was only polite after all. The walk had taken around five minutes not that he minded, he was enjoying the scenery of the outside of the city. Walking past the guards he headed wondered if he should deal with business first or go collect the item he had commissioned to be made for Arcadia, he didn't really understand his feelings or the things that he had said when he met her at Rose garden not but a week or so before this. It felt like he was meant to have it whatever it was however and hoped that over time he would understand it with her help. As he walked however he was looking around as he felt like he had been drawn here for another reason, he couldn't quite put his finger on it though but knew that given time everything would be revealed so continued walking down the street towards the Crocus branch of his company.

Rumors and Feathers Empty Re: Rumors and Feathers

Post by Nohres Xaclamir 19th April 2019, 11:10 pm

"This.... might have been a mistake..." Ehoron mumbled to himself as he stumbled through one of the many alleyways that crisscrossed throughout Crocus. It seemed a simple enough task; dip into the city, sight-see a bit, find the airship, and get out before the growing pit of darkness inside of him burst out and hurt innocent people. Instead, he had rapidly found himself lost within a labyrinthian mess of roads, footpaths, and circuitous avenues. Pride kept him from admitting that he had lost his way and asking for help, certain that he could navigate the streets himself without aid.

And for his pride, Ehoron stumbled about in the dark. His footsteps were punctured only by the shallow, sharp gasps that escaped his lips as the darkness roiled within himself. Every breath, every sight, every sound; all of it was taken in as through filtered through an oily sheen. That sickly sweet taint turned his insides; it froze his bones and set fire to his very nerves. It took every ounce of will to not scream in pain. The world itself seemed to alternate between being far too bright and loud to being just the faintest glimmer to his senses. Abruptly he missed the ground with one feeble step, his foot caught over a discarded bottle and sent him tumbling to the ground. He groaned weakly, his body wracked with spasms as the darkness began to boil him alive. 'So... this is.... how it ends...' That sad, lonely thought floated just below the darkness, inviting him to accept oblivion.

"Well, well, well... What do we got here, boys?" A voice cut through the din, cruelty and condescension dripping from every word. "Looks like this poor sod's had a bit much to drink." Faintly, he was aware of the foot belonging to the voice stopping just shy of his face. "What sort of folk would we be if we left him like this?" Laughter cracked the silence, giving those words an ominous meaning. "I think he looks overheated, Bajern. Mayhap we take that nice lookin' coat off 'im." Another voice came from beyond Ehoron's sight, confirming the existence of others, for all the good it did him to know that.

He felt several pairs of rough hands begin to claw at his coat, seeking to remove it from his near-lifeless body. More sought his boots, and soon a squabble began to break out over the spoils. Ehoron simply lay there, barely clinging to life as he desperately racked his mind for something to hold onto, someone who might care enough to wonder where he had gone. His one hope of salvation seemed a false promise as every person he tried to imagine or remember had either faded from his life entirely or instead had been turned away from him when they realized the malignancy that dwelled within him.

"Come on, you oafs. Take his gear and let's go. Theorik will have ruined all the fun for us if we don't hurry it up." There was something in those words, a true evil yet unspoke that caused Ehoron's spirit to stir if only for a heartbeat. "I don't wanna waste another night lookin' for more women to take when we got some waitin' for us." At that, something inside of him seemed to crack and break. For all of his pathetic existence, hurting all that came close to him while he dared fashion himself a hero, he had told himself that if he were to make a difference, save just one person, it would be worth it. But if he couldn't save someone before the darkness consumed him...

The men were fighting amongst themselves in earnest now, staking claims on their imagined spoils, and as such failed to notice Ehoron rise from the stone alleyway. He swayed there for a moment, his footing still unsure before one of the brutes seemed to notice and gave a shout of alarm. That was all the warning they were given before Ehoron suddenly lunged forward with one hand outstretched. Those not standing closest to Ehoron were treated to a spectacle as two of their own were caught by fell ice shaped into a massive gloved fist. Already poorly lit for the passing of the sun, the very light within the alleyway seemed to be subsumed by the black ice that entombed those two poor souls. Their faces were etched with horror and pain, but all too soon those untouched were left to look down as Ehoron quietly began to walk around the massive formation of ice and straight towards them.

His shirt had split down the middle almost to his waist, revealing a chest far more broad that it ought to have been for him. Dark etchings stretched upward from his waist and covered his torso before spiraling out to his arms. As he moved closer to them, the air began to grow cold, far colder than natural for that time of day or year. No light seemed to touch his eyes, which somehow seemed to fix each of the men standing before him with an unflinching gaze that announced the forfeiture of their lives. Terror began to fester in each of their hearts and one managed to rip himself away from the approaching spectre of death when he was stopped by an almost imperceptible wall of ice. Insidiously it taunted them with the existence of a world just beyond its frigid borders, but for all the world could see beyond the alleyway's entrance, not a soul seemed to inhabit the alley.

"'Twould seem that each of you has elected to relinquish your lives..." Their attention was ripped back to the deranged man walking towards them. He gave them a thin, wan smile as the black ice slowly reached down from one arm to form a deadly looking blade which he held up to the weakened light. "Your lives have no value left to them, save what I grant you. And what I grant is neither peace nor mercy, for you are far beyond grace or salvation. For your acts and pride in the lives you've squandered, for the lives of others that have been spoiled by your existence, you shall be granted only oblivion."

    ----------

Bereft a soul to care for them, the bodies of the men were left within the dark confines of the alleyways. Their bodies had been turned blue from the unnatural cold. Every ounce of heat had been stripped from their bodies, their blood frozen solid, leaving them near statues. Horror was etched onto each of their faces, their eyes left wide open and their mouths agape. By the time the first person caught hint of their fate and sent out a cry of alarm, Ehoron had already moved deeper into the city. Yet for all the sun and fire that illuminated the world around him, his eyes remained dimmed and hollow.
