    the empire known as nightmare
    Order and unity guide the Empire forwards. No matter the cost, Nightmare will stop at nothing to unite the free world under its imperialistic, oppressive, rule.

    Nightmare is a large, militaristic and wizard supremacist guild hellbent on world domination. The ranks of Nightmare consist only of wizards, and nightmarish machines built for war. With the Magic Council blind to their activity, Nightmare has spent many years beneath the surface of Fiore, slowly preparing to unleash their wrath on the entire world. Armed with high tech, and dark magic, Nightmare will see the entire planet in chains, with only wizards free enough to benefit from the new world order. While the rest of the population bound in eternal slavery, serving their imperial masters until their last breath.

    As stated above, Nightmare’s main goal is world domination and the enslavement of the entire non-magic population. They plan to achieve this through a variety of different ways. Espionage, slave trafficking, weapons development, and conquest. All while keeping a low profile in the face of others. Nightmare knows that they are not yet strong enough to initiate the final war, so secrecy is paramount. When they conduct their operations, there are no witnesses.

    Nightmare is first and foremost a well-guarded secret to most of the known world. Members of the Empire are prohibited from ever relaying imperial secrets to any who are not affiliated with the guild.

    Under pain of death, all those who wish to join the imperial society must be of magic blood. Non-wizards are otherwise enslaved or killed.

    Guild Uniforms are required to be worn while on imperial duty. With each member’s rank, division, insignia, and designation visible.

    Those of higher rank exercise more authority and must be listened to at all times. Disobedience and insubordination to one’s superior are met with swift and merciless retribution.

    The Iron Bastion sits within the center of the massive underground city known as Unity. The Bastion was built by a dread sorcerer in a far distant age. Yet eventually besieged and conquered by a confederation of barbarian tribes who would make the stronghold their new capital. Within the stronghold's walls, the large stone hallways and rooms are narrow and twisting, designed to stifle and frustrate any attacking force that managed to penetrate the fortress outer defenses. The rooftops are flat and crenelated, like the battlements of a castle, allowing soldiers above to dominate any enemy below. Above all else though, the Iron Bastion emits an aura of dread. The massive castle serves as the center of all of Nightmare’s activities. Acting as both the military Headquarters and the residence of the high command, the fortress is under constant guard by legions of Nightmare’s autonomous soldiers.

    The various ranks within the guild are meant to separate the more powerful and experienced members from the rest. With each rank comes new privileges, but more responsibilities.

    Imperator: The Imperator is the ultimate authority within the guild. This individual acts as the sovereign leader of Nightmare, their word being final in ANY given circumstances. All other members are expected to follow the Imperator’s lead and do as they command without question. Only one Imperator can exist at a time, and only the most powerful and influential members can ever hope to obtain this position.

    Commandant: The Commandant’s of the guild act as the right and left-hand men. Second in power only to the Imperator, these individuals carry immense authority within the guild’s ranks. They are often seen heading the various divisions and groups within the guild and are expected to act as the judge, jury, and executioner in the Imperator’s stead.

    Colonel: Colonel’s are seasoned officers within the ranks of Nightmare. They have shown much potential in the way of leadership and tactical aptitude, making them the perfect individuals to oversee and command the lower ranks of the guild.

    Captain: Captains are members of the guild who have demonstrated exceptional tactical prowess and decent skill in magic. As a result, they are normally appointed as squad leaders on the battlefield.

    Private: Privates are the newer members of Nightmare that have only recently passed their screening tests. While very new and possessing little authority, these members show potential and are often on the front lines, leading Nightmare’s Warbot army where the fighting is thickest.

    Recruit: These members are brand new to the guild and have had no time to garner any respect or recognition. They have no power within the ranks and are expected to do as they are told by their higher ranking officers until their screening process is completed, and they are made into official members of Nightmare.

    Because of its militaristic nature, Nightmare has multiple smaller groups within itself known as divisions. These are meant to help maintain the guild’s many responsibilities. Some are meant for frontline combat, while others focus on the subtlety of sneaking behind enemy lines and gathering intelligence. Each division is headed by a Commandant, who oversees the entire operation.

    Imperial Army: Perhaps the largest division in Nightmare. The imperial army specializes in front line warfare. Members of this division have proven to be excellent attackers and defenders, and as a result, they have been chosen to lead the robot armies of Nightmare into the middle of the fight.

    Imperial Engineering Corps: Nightmare’s engineering corps is made up of the guild’s best and brightest. These are the mad scientists that don’t let ethical or moral questions hinder their research. They perform dangerous, gruesome experimentation in an effort to unlock the dark secrets of magic and technology for Nightmare’s favor. They are also the ones responsible for designing and maintaining Nightmare’s robot army.

    Imperial Special Operations: The Spec Ops squad consist of the members that have demonstrated skill in stealth and guile. They are the ones responsible for sneaking behind enemy lines and softening up Nightmare’s foes in preparation for future assaults. Each of these operatives are highly trained both in magic and physical combat with weapons of their choosing. Their mandate is to take on the missions too dangerous for anyone else… And leave no witnesses.

    The official guild mark of the guild depicts an intimidating Biohazard sign in an attempt to strike terror and a sense of dread into all who see it. Every guild member possesses the marking somewhere on their body, and it can also be seen on almost anything relating to the guild. Ranging from uniform pins to massive banners on conquered walls, the symbol of Nightmare has become one of the most feared visuals in the entire Kingdom...
