Kai has a very strange personality to say the least; for the most part he comes across as a playful, immature and somewhat irritating playboy. When meeting him he often comes across rather dynamic, restless, independent, ready to accept challenges, and incredibly outspoken, traits which often lead him into trouble. However, for the most part this is simply an act, a way of luring people into a false sense of security or relaxing around him as he charms his way into their hearts. His outwards appearance but an illusion, just like his magic, seemingly friendly and happy all the time. He enjoys flirting with people as a means to pass the time, his handsome appearance makes many fall before him with just a wink. However, he prefers a real challenge, often chasing after those he knows he can never win, whether they be straight men, homosexual women, or just those that generally hate his immature behaviour, he just enjoys seeing how far he can push before they finally fall or him or completely snap.

Kai also uses his quick wit and charming personality while undercover as his alter ego, “Derek Thor”, reporter for Sorcerer’s Weekly. He’s found this alter ego to be more than useful in a handful of situations and a great way to legally obtain information he might otherwise have been unable to acquire. Though he seemingly has limitless enthusiasm for new ventures, Kai loses interest quickly once things become routine, as he dislikes being forced to attend to detail and do monotonous work. His lack of patience and consistency in his affairs and his tendency to act impulsively often leads to actions he later regrets.

Inside Kai is but a utterly shattered mess, using his goofball attitude to conceal all his anger, hate and frustration he feels towards himself. While he constantly teases and enjoys flirting with just about anyone, he doesn’t actually see any enjoyment in actual romantic relationships, at least not anymore. He considers those days behind him, for the only person he ever truly loved disappeared around two years ago, something that he blames himself for, although he does not know the reason why they left or where they went. Regardless Kai is more than certain he will never find true happiness again. As such he spends his time whittling away his life doing whatever he feels like, not caring much about the consequences of his actions and is even less concerned as it how they affect others around him. Because of this he finds it difficult to form real friendships, he’s not completely against them, he just doesn’t see the point. Kai simply does not care what happens to those that he works with that may consider him an ally. Whether they live or die is of no concern to him, at least for now.

In battle he is very vocal, often teasing and provoking his opponents in order to make them lose their cool, ultimately resulting in them losing concentration on the battle, giving him far more openings to attack as he pleases. This chastising method has got him out of many sticky situations to say the least, both on and off the field of battle. It takes a lot to piss him off and show his real inner intentions, but if you do, you better watch out. Kai’s true inner personality will start to show as he attempts to mercilessly eliminate his enemies in the most painful way possible, enjoying seeing them suffer slow and painful deaths, often torturing them till they beg to be put out of their misery.
