Job Title: Whiteshire: Dying for Good Music
    Rank: C Rank
Player Requirements: C Rank or 2 or more D rank. Must be in Onyx Moon guild. 4,000 words per player.
Job Requirements: Meet with Pan and his musical troupe, travel from the town a couple miles to get to the lake, gather the musical instrument resources and return them to Pan.
    Job Location: Tolgalen

Job Description: Traveling musicians with a desire to stand out have decided they want instruments made from these magical music making plants. The reeds and mangroves surrounding Lake Usawoti would be one of a kind and certainly draw good crowds. They have put up a job to ask for help in gathering some reeds and mangrove roots. They have heard the dangers of monsters, in the lake and refuse to actually join with you and go. The leader of the traveling group, Pan, has insisted that mages for hire take up this job and not ordinary folk. The mage(s) for hire must go and face the dangers and bring back the resources for the musicians in order to earn the money.
    Usawoti Lake:
    Flute Reeds and Hale Mangroves:

    Enemies:
Weak: Flute Reeds (5-10): These plants grow from the shore of the lake up to two feet deep. They are reddish in color and have firm roots buried in the muck and soil beneath the water. Pulling on the plants can be a challenge, given the thin layer of waterproof mucus surrounding most of the plant. The roots too can be a challenge to work with, given that they are hard and covered with thorn like bristles which deal D rank damage if you're not careful. They don't actually a require damage to be removed and in fact the more in tact the plant is, the happier the musicians will be.

More Weak: Acrid Salt Mist: Roiling off the top of the shallow water in small white wisps, are the evaporated clouds of concentrated and nearly acidic salt of the lake. Breathing it in for more than a minute or two will leave the skin dry and the lungs, mouth, and nose burning. It is not permanently going to damage your lungs, but it will deal D-C rank damage for every minute you spend standing in the water breathing it in (without any protection).

Normal: Hale Mangroves (5-10): Hale Mangroves are white due to a layer of thick hardened salt over their bark. They grow adventitious roots, over the water and onto the shore up to four feet deep. The more wet the root is, the softer it is, and the easier it will be to remove it. Softened underwater mangrove roots take 2 C rank hits to remove and break off. Hardened white roots will take 3-4 C rank hits to remove. The tree doesn't do much damage with its soft roots, but the hardened roots can deal C rank damage if bare hands are being used (the salt is quite abrasive!). In addition, standing in the water can cause your feet to sink in the mud like quick sand and mangroves are a favorite hang out for the Matapo lizards.

Strong: Young Matapo (1-3) : In the lake, it appears the rumors of the Matapo monster are true. These crocodile monsters are ambush predators without eyes, but much stronger smell and vibration senses. If one gets close to you, you are better off running away.. but if you have no other choice, fight hard and fight well. They are fierce predators which try to attack by hiding under the water of the murky lake, and ambushing those who get to close to the water's edge. They deal C rank damage with their claws, bite attack, and tail. Hitting them in close range could hurt you due to their natural armor spikes for D rank damage. They are incredibly fast in water, but about crocodile speed on land. This young Matapo is only 7 feet long and will need 6 D rank hits to defeat.

Boss: Adult Matapo (1-2): It is not required to come face to face with or to fight an adult Matapo on this job. They are somewhat like crocodiles, 12 feet long, with massive claws, thick and sharp armor spikes, and two layers of sharp teeth. They have no eyes, but a good sense of smell, and can sense direction through use of pressure organs inside of his body (the same way fish that school can sense other fish in the area and move around without bumping into each other). Most of the original population has been dying out from starvation. The dead lake's bottom is littered with the bones of dead monsters, dead water fowl, and various other animals who ended up at the lake only to die at the jaws of these monsters.

These crocodile monsters are ambush predators which try to attack by hiding under the water of the murky lake, and ambushing those who get to close to the water's edge. They prefer to fight in the water and rarely come out of the shallow reeds in which they hide. They would be likely to attack, then slide back into the water to try to hide and attack again. They deal B rank damage with their claws, bite attack, and tail. Hitting them in close range could hurt you due to their natural armor spikes for C rank damage. These adult Matapo are also able to perform feints, fake being defeated, and then strike. They are intelligent monsters. They are incredibly fast in water, but about crocodile speed on land. They will need 6 C rank hits to defeat.
