    Job Title: Whiteshire: For Science!
    Rank: A Rank
Player Requirements: A Rank or 2 or more B rank. Must be in Onyx Moon guild. 10,000 words per player or 14,0000 total thread count
Job Requirements: Help the scientists research the lake, map the lake, or study a Matapo Lizard by escorting them around Usawoti Lake and fighting a Matapo if necessary. Rewards only given if scientists are safe and no Matapo are killed.
    Job Location: Tolgalen

Job Description: Due to recent local interest in the lake, a couple of adventurous scientists want to go and study the local flora and fauna. They don't always listen to instruction, are easily distracted, and with dedication to the wild they will need someone to look out for their safety. They have interests in making a map of the lake, recording local species and plant life, but above all they want to see one of the Matapo monsters in the lake. In order to study it, they need the monster to come out of the lake, and they would like to see it in action- perhaps even feeding if it is possible. Obtaining a scale or a tooth would be like obtaining gold to these scientists. And yet, if you kill the creature, you will not earn any funding because the scientists believe in maintaining the lake ecosystem as it is and only wish to collect as much information as possible. So, have a rousing fight, don't injure the beast too greatly, and keep those reckless scientists safe!

This job can be done more than once, as you can aid scientists in several different things.
    Usawoti Lake:
    Flute Reeds and Hale Mangroves:
    Matapo Image:

    Enemies:

Weak: Musical Lure: Surrounding the lake are many musical tones from the plant life: Hale Mangroves and Flute Reeds. These plants have the magical ability to put listeners to sleep if they are standing too close for too long, or lure listeners in a trance into the shallow water of the lake in order to better listen. On it's own, they don't seem to be dangerous, but being lured into the water and being put to sleep can have dangerous repercussions.

Normal: Matapo Warriors (Any number): They patrol the lake and without having the item of respect, (from completing the Matapo Tribe job: Facing the Matapo ) they will attack you on the grounds of you being in their territory or you being a threat to their deity god: the Matapo Lizards. A mix of magic using and melee fighters, this group of warriors are strong and seasoned fighters. Nobody knows the cave in and out like they do and will find strategic advantages for fighting you. With magic, most of them have elemental water or stone abilities, a few have a strange ability to cause temporary sickness or disease (dizziness, nausea, aches and pains). Their attacks are smart and well planned, and deal B-A rank damage when they hit. A few of them wear magical totems collected from dead Matapo or human bones that give them magical or physical healing once during a fight each. It takes 4 A rank hits to bring one warrior down, and that is not accounting for if he heals himself. (Note that if you do have the item from the job, the warriors will not hurt you and will even offer you healing)

Strong: Young Matapo (1-3) : In the lake, it appears the rumors of the Matapo monster are true. These crocodile monsters are ambush predators without eyes, but much stronger smell and vibration senses. If one gets close to you, you are better off running away.. but if you have no other choice, fight hard and fight well. They are fierce predators which try to attack by hiding under the water of the murky lake, and ambushing those who get to close to the water's edge. They deal B rank damage with their claws, bite attack, and tail. Hitting them in close range could hurt you due to their natural armor spikes for B rank damage. They are incredibly fast in water, but about crocodile speed on land. This young Matapo is only 7 feet long and will need 6 A rank hits to defeat.

Boss: Rare Ancient Adult Matapo (1-2): An old monster species lives in the lake, and has been there for many years. They never leave the lake, and nobody knows how they ended up in the lake in the first place. They are somewhat like crocodiles. This particular rare and ancient monster is 15 feet long, with massive claws, thick and sharp armor spikes, and two layers of sharp teeth. They have no eyes, but a good sense of smell, and can sense direction through use of pressure organs inside of his body (the same way fish that school can sense other fish in the area and move around without bumping into each other).

These crocodile monsters are ambush predators which try to attack by hiding under the water of the murky lake, and ambushing those who get to close to the water's edge. They prefer to fight in the water and rarely come out of the shallow reeds in which they hide. They would be likely to attack, then slide back into the water to try to hide and attack again. They deal A rank damage with their claws, bite attack, and tail. Hitting them in close range could hurt you due to their natural armor spikes for A rank damage. These adult Matapo are also able to perform feints, fake being defeated, and then strike. They are intelligent monsters. They are incredibly fast in water, but about crocodile speed on land.

In addition, these ancient beasts can also breath out an acrid salt based acid from years of concentrating it within their skin. If they are angry or feel threatened, but you are out of range, an ancient Matapo will use its acid breath and deal A-S rank damage in a cone shaped area of effect with A Rank based range. They will need 10 A rank hits to subdue, but 12 A rank hits will kill the beast(s).

    Reward: 70,000 Jewels
