    Get to it!
    Enemies:

Adalinda takes a deep breath as she looks up at the board in the West Fiore Trading Companies head quarters. She was looking for a job to do so she could get herself some much needed jewels. Her blue eyes landed on a job requesting help to take care of some guy in a mine shaft. "Hmm... This looks pretty interesting..." She murmurs to herself as she pulls it off the board and leans against the wall so she was at least out of the way of others. Adalinda was wearing her uniform. She wasn't too much of a fan of white, so she at least opted to have a shirt be white as she had her guild pin on her left side of her collar while she had brown pants, tanned gloves and boots that went up just below her shin. The mage runs a hand over her black and blue hair that was up in a high ponytail. Even with her hair up and bunched together behind her head, it made her skin seem lighter than it actually was.

"Hey, Ada. You think this guy will be a bit tough for you on your own?" A little purple exceed asks, making Adalinda stop reading the paper and look up to her. The cat held her paws behind her back as she moves to fly up near her to read over her shoulder.

With a deep breath, Adalinda glowers at the cat. "You know what? I think I can handle the guy. I'm gonna accept this job. Just you see! I'll have this guy taken down lickety-split!" She huffs as she reaches for her flask of alcohol.

"Okay then, if you can get him, tell me where do we need to go? How are we going to get there? And what all do you even need to do?" Tamaria raised an eyebrow as she puts her paws on her hips as she clearly didn't approve of this one bit.

"It's in Crocus. You or Shellton can help me get there. And all I gotta do is take down a guy who's in a mine shaft that has dynamite. Apparently no one who had gone to get the dude has come out, so no one knows what he looks like, or anything besides the fact that he's in there with dynamite." Adalinda shrugs as she finishes reading over the paper. "And the best part, twenty thousand jewels is the reward." She felt it was a great way to prove herself as someone dependable for the guild. Either that, or she was getting too cocky again. But she at least knew that if she completed the job, she would get more money for more alcohol.

Tamaria takes a breath as she hangs her head. "I have a bad feeling about this... I wouldn't go in alone..." Adalinda brushed off the cats worry and only took another sip of her drink. Sometimes she wished Tamaria would just be quiet. But, at times she enjoyed her company, only because Shellton couldn't be make a noise himself.

It had been non stop of late when it came to the constant run of annoyances and trials the youth had to face, the most recent of which was the rumour that he, Cirven and Johann had went to investigate within Fiore. Luckily they all had tasks they had to do within Hargeon town anyway so it was an easy thing to have cover for, that being said it had also taken an unusual twist as it seemed to be a set up by the members of the newly formed Neo Cor Torva. That was one phoenix that he had wished that remained in the ashes but no such luck it seemed, to make it worse the problem that was solely his and his adoptive elder brother Cirven's problem now had become that more complicated; as Johann had been dragged almost like he was collateral damage. He was angry that someone who had nothing to do with them or the issues that plagued his own and Cirven's past had been dragged into it.

"We need to be careful or they'll drag others in and we can't have that." he whispered to himself as he walked into the companies headquarters intending to head straight for the kitchen, overhearing a conversation between of of the newer employees and their companion had him take pause and sigh. 'What is it with dragon slayers thinking they can do things that are obviously above their capability?' he thought to himself 'Dragonic pride.' Barthenz replied and though Ruvel could see the warrior summon he could tell by the tone used he had a smug grin on his face making him roll his eyes before he walked over to the blue haired woman and her exceed companion that where at job board. "Always better to air on the side of caution Miss Ortinbras, things that seem simple can often become more complex." he warned the other with a calm tone "If you wish I will accompany you on this task, just to make sure you are not in over your head." he continued allowing the two to make their decision. To be honest he didn't want to go on the job but at the same time the last job had him worried that they would go after more members or use traps to lure them out.

'Are you sure this is a good idea our summoner?' one of the twins asked him making him shake his head a little 'Not really Shindara, and I have this feeling that I might be pushing myself but at the same time I can't allow her to go on a job that is of a higher rank. She could get seriously harmed or it could cause bad reflection on the company.' he sent back to him, he knew his summons where worried given what had happened of late but he had already offered his services and so there was no way for him to back out now. For all he did remain isolated from everyone for the most part he wanted the members of both sides of his family safe even if it hurt him or worse, luckily he had summons and Cirven making sure the latter wouldn't happen.

Post by Adalinda on 24th February 2018, 11:47 am

Sensing someone was approaching, Adalinda tried to move over to scoot out of the persons way of the job request board. She thought she had been just far enough away to not be in the way. She pauses in her moving as she hears a voice she heard only recently. She glances up and smiles a little to the other mage. Of course it was Ruvel, the other Vice President of the company, and the guy that she happened to like the voice of. She blushed softly as she takes a deep breath. Tamaria was nudging her in the side at the offer of Ruvel coming with them for the mission. Of course the cat wanted her to go with him. Tamaria is always trying to hook her up with nearly everyone just to be able to keep less of an eye on her.

Tamaria quickly flung herself up with her wings flapping behind her and was close to the others ear. "Why not accept it? Hm...? He actually could help you out... or show you a thing or two?" The cat whispers quietly just so Adalinda would hear her while nodding quickly and enthusiastically. "It could also be a great opportunity to get to know him better too! So just accept it and go with him since he's offering so casually." The exceed crossed her arms over her chest and smiles triumphantly to the mage while she sighs before she lands at the mage's feet. Of course, Tamaria was already seeming excited for this before anything was even said.

The black and blue haired mage takes a deep breath before turns to Ruvel and smiles a little while handing him the paper to let him look it over himself. "I think it might be good for you to assist me with it... Mainly to keep Tamaria from badgering me for biting off more than I chew on my own again..." She nervously chuckles. There was a soft blush on her cheeks that one would have to look at very carefully to even notice. She then looks to the paper again, and smirks softly to herself. Maybe this really wouldn't be that bad after all? Especially with someone like Ruvel along with her. "You sure it won't be a trouble though? Don't want to uh... take up any of your time." She gives a nervous smile while shrugging to him. Adalinda wasn't too skilled in flirting, so she felt awkward about it usually.

Ruvel stood still for a moment as Tamaria spoke to her companion and sighed a little frustration "You realise that all slayers have heightened senses right." he said to her as she tried to be sneaky in her conversation which seemed to have failed, it wasn't like he was meaning to eaves drop it just sort of happened. That may have been because outside Cirven no one really knew about his secondary magic. "I am sure that Miss Ortinbras is more than capable but this seems to be a higher rank than her current, so I would only be there as support." he said showing he was pretty much leave it up to the other to do most of the task, he would only be there to make sure she didn't get in over her head as often happened with new mages. "We would hate if you got injured or worse died because of the foolish sin of pride." he said honestly having seen it quite a few times within the facility and here within the company too and he'd rather not bury people if he could stop it, mainly because it just seemed like more work to bury someone after finding the body pieces.

Seeing the blush he tilted his head to the side "Miss Ortinbras are you sick? You're cheeks are red." he said worrying for the others health, he would have moved to feel her temperature but he hated being touched at all. "She isn't badgering you, she is concerned for you as it seems that you aren't taking care of yourself when it comes to choosing jobs." he said calmly knowing that there had to be more than that but he could only comment on what he knew and observed. "It would be more trouble if you got harmed than doing the task." he said truthfully, he didn't mean it in a malicious manner just that if she got harmed then she wouldn't be able to do tasks and people would have to look after her when it could have been easily avoided. He noticed the body language and tilted his head "You seem at ill ease around me would you prefer someone else accompany you?" he asked not wanting to force his presence on her.

Post by Adalinda on 2nd March 2018, 10:20 pm

Once she hears the other mention all slayers had enhanced hearing, Adalinda freezes a bit. She didn't remember that he had been a slayer as well... Tamaria's face seemed to get pinkish with embarrassment as well. "Sorry... didn't mean to talk about you in front of you..." The Exceed landed again by her companions feet. She glances up to the other girl, who slightly smiles while scratching the back of her head.

When the other questions if she was sick, Adalinda blinks as she quickly shakes her head. "N-no! I'm not sick. I'm just fine. It's probably just a little hot in here, that's all." She huffs and looks down to the paper again to see how much jewels it was. Twenty thousand. Twenty thousand jewels just to take care of this guy. She could do it. She knew she could. She looks up to Ruvel again, and takes a deep breath. "Tamaria is probably right though... I should get to know you a bit better, especially since you are a vice president of the company So no, I wouldn't prefer someone else to come with me. You seem like the perfect person to go with, especially since you're concerned for... my well being and what I'm doing exactly." She takes a deep breath as she calms herself down, gaining composure of herself. She needed to push the thoughts of his voice aside in her mind. She brings two fingers up to her temple, and lazily salutes. "If you sure you're okay with it, I'm rather eager to get going and see what this is. I'm already starting to plan what to do with my jewels when I earn them." She chuckles a little.

If Ruvel was okay with going just then, Adalinda starts heading to the docks to get on the next boat that was going to Fiore. If he wanted to wait a bit, she waited a bit before she did get on a boat. When they were both settle in and on their way to Fiore, Adalinda started keeping her eyes off of Ruvel, grabbing her flask on her hip to take a sip. Tamaria wasn't saying anything to it, knowing the reason why her slayer was drinking aboard the ship. It was to keep her cool aboard the ship, and not be a lump of flesh on a barrel while they sailed on the waters. Already, Adalinda's face was a tad green from being aboard the ship, but she wasn't completely immobile as she went to slightly help the crew prepare to leave. She at least wanted to put a bit of an impression on Ruvel by showing she was a bit reliable, even at her weakest point. Occasionally, Tamaria would pick her up, and fly along side the boat with her mage in her arms, to let her not feel as sick and keep her slightly level headed.

Once they make it to the port of Hargeon, they start to make their way to Crocus, where the job was requested at. Adalinda was starting to grumble along the way, kind of wishing the city was closer so she could get the job over and done with. She had forgotten about Ruvel's enhanced hearing again as she grumbles. As they travel, she glances over to Ruvel. She hadn't really talked to him on the boat due to her working so much, maybe the travel there would be good. "So... the paper says he's a dangerous man... how dangerous do you believe him to be?" She couldn't help but question as she puts her hands behind her head. She purses her lips as she thought of the job some more to herself.

Ruvel looked to them both sighing a little he knew he couldn't exactly be upset or angry at them for how they had acted as his magic wasn't exactly well known throughout the guild. This however he hoped would be a wake up call for the two that there others with enhanced senses within the guild. "All is forgiven but please bare in mind we have several kinds slayers within our ranks, also there are those who aren't slayers who have improved senses." he cautioned them both as some of those people were clients of the company and the last thing he wanted to have to do was deal with complaints because of whispers they overheard from members of the company, they had a reputation to maintain after all and it was one that would protected above all else. "You shouldn't really whisper about a person when they are in front of them it is rude as if you can't say it to their face then it shouldn't be said at all." this was the last thing he would mention on the subject as his stance and point had both been made quite clear on the matter to the pair.

"So you know, I am a second generation demon slayer of light." He told the pair this so they where no longer in the dark in regards to his secondary magic. "My elder brother is a god slayer and there are a few other slayers here and there within the company but you'd need to find them yourself." wanting to give them a bit of a heads up in regards to Cirven, he failed to mentioning that one of the other vice presidents was also a god slayer and dragon slayer then there who the other members where that had such abilities; after all then they would know who to watch her mouth around this would be an exercise in watching her mouth around people. Hearing her stuttering and mentioning the warmth when he asked about her being sick made him quirk an eyebrow as the temperature was cool at current but didn't comment on it, the stuttering still was a clear sign of being nervous but spoke nothing on that either "If you say so Miss Ortinbras, it's not my place to push you into your personal situations unless it effects your performance but if you feel sick please rest." he said calmly to the other wondering why she was acting so strange towards him.

"There are three vice presidents." he informed her but then he was the one that tended to stay by himself only really interacting with people when needed when he was at the headquarters, he tended to be the one sent to social gatherings on behalf of the company and dealing with particularly difficult and higher standing clients. This was the alternative since he couldn't really do paperwork or much or the other tasks that Sol, Johann or Cirven could do because of one reason or another and he couldn't argue with the reasons because he agreed with what was said. He had a natural charisma and charm that seemed to be unmatched within the company so he was happy that he was still of some use to his elder brother, company and family. "You could have Mr Terumi or Mr Weiss if they made you feel more at ease Miss Ortinbras, I know I am rarely the first choice for tasks and I've made peace with that." he said with a warm and charming voice, he wasn't trying to weasel out of it but he did want to make sure the other was comfortable and at ease first and fore most; this was one of his tasks after all as a vice president right?

"Well yes I am concerned for your well being but then the entire company look out for one another, it is how we are." he said to her comment on how he was perfect as he seemed to care for her well being, in honesty he didn't want to lumber the others with more paperwork because someone was to filled with stubborn pride to ask for help; and that was before the paperwork of sending out a search party to find a missing guild member and further paperwork if they where hurt or killed. Just thinking on it made his head hurt so this seemed the better alternative, seeing the salute he could only help but groan a bit before rolling his eyes "Please don't do that, it makes me uncomfortable and I'm guessing another stint at a bar." he said walking out of the companies headquarters and towards the docks, given she was a dragon slayer he was surprised she chose such a slow method of transportation "You realise I have a summon that can fly that would get us their quicker." he said calmly walking onto the ship he already knew if he stumbled getting on the ship Barthenz would be unhappy with him.

"You can take the cabin Miss Ortinbras" he said moving to his normal spot the crew seemingly unfazed by his strange location on the deck, throughout the journey he made sure to practice with a few of the contract clauses such as language, music, dance and singing. This also helped him forget he was on a ship and the limited freedom that came with it. After several days they made it to Hargeon thanks to the help of wind mages, when they got to port he shot off the ship as fast as he could and found them transport to Crocus. "Do not grumble Miss Ortinbras, it was you who chose the job." he said handing her a train ticket before getting on the train glad that this would get them to where they needed to in a matter of hours. "Given you haven't told me anything about this job I can't comment." he said honestly as he sat down answering the question she had asked him.

Adalinda nods as she is told that there were others in the guild similar to her, and felt rather impressed that this guy, who was a tad shorter than her, was also a demon slayer. She would have to keep in mind about Tamaria wanting to talk privately to her, or pissing him off either. "Your brother is the CEO, Cirven, right?" She questions quickly. She just wanted to be sure her memory served her right. Tamaria tapped her slayer on the leg, and nods to her quietly. Now she wondered who else was a slayer within the guild that she might have bypassed. It was gonna be a mission to her to figure that out. As he tells her she could have either of the other two vice presidents helping her, Adalinda pouts a little. "In all due respect, sir, I'd rather you as I've yet to get to know you. Johann had been the one to accept me into the guild... I can always go to Sol later for another job."

"Yeah, Ada will want to try to fight Johann instead of focusing on the job. She promised she'd challenge him when she got stronger... not that she had gotten much stronger." Adalinda flinches at her cats words, glaring down at her. Ruvel's guess on what she'd get with the money, made Adalinda blush as she nods her head. She really couldn't deny it. While on the boat, Tamaria had sat near Ruvel. "Adalinda just wants to prove that she's not helpless when she's given no other choice. I say, just use the summons thing when we come back. Saves her the trouble of feeling sick." She says as she leans back over the ships edge, enjoying the wind while she could.

When they finally got to Fiore, Adalinda had seemed relieved to be on land, till she was handed a ticket. She sighs as she takes it regardless, and takes a big swig of her flask. As he had said she didn't read to him the job, Adalinda blinks before she sits herself down across from him, Tamaria next to her. "Um... I showed you the paper though?" She frowns and rubs her head a bit. "It was asking to take down an extremely dangerous man, nothing else is known about him besides that he's hiding in a mine shaft in Crocus, and that he has a lot of dynamite. Oh! And that no one has come back from going after him themselves..." She crosses her arms over her chest as Tamaria snickers, which earned a small glare from Adalinda.

Adalinda was glad it was only a few hours from Hargeon to Crocus as they arrived at the station there. She was quick to slip off of the train, groaning once she was steady on her feet. "Never again..." She mumbles to herself, shaking her head as she knew it was probably a lie. Now she had to find the mine shaft with Ruvel to get this job over with. "You know... you don't have to call me 'Miss Ortinbras', right? Could always just call me Adalinda." She muses as she stuffs a hand in one of her pockets. She looks to Tamaria, and blinks. "Oh! I don't remember if I introduced her to you before, but this is Tamaria. She's still getting used to the guild as well... been only a short while since she had decided to follow me..." She says as they walk.

They come across the mine shaft, and Adalinda blinks to it, sniffing the air. "I smell... iron... and gunpowder... And...?" She blinks as she isn't entirely sure what else she's smelling coming from within the mine shaft. She glances down to Tamaria, who was clinging to the back of her leg quietly. "Hey... you stay back a bit... unless I call you, okay?" She smiles softly down to the Exceed, who nods quickly and lets go to let the two go in.

"You can call me as well, if you think you'll need my assistance." Tamaria says as she had turned to Ruvel, in which Adalinda nods in agreement. "Just give me a shout... I'll... I'll charge right in!" She holds her little paw in a fist and nods in affirmation.

Adalinda chuckles and crouches by Tamaria to pat her head before she stands up again and starts to head into the mine. Her ears were were opened as she pushes a small lock of her hair, that had come out of her ponytail, behind her ear and listens around. She walks in slowly, letting her eyes get adjusted to the lack of light slowly, before she turns to look to make sure Ruvel was with her before she continues on in. She hears some light tapping along in the distance, and blinks as she wasn't fully sure if she could identify it or not. "I'm not going cray... right? You're hearing multiple little pats against stone and dirt... right? Or is it like... machinery here?" She shakes her head as she was hurting her own head by thinking her mind was being deceived.

I don't dare let darkness have its way with me
