Cheers from the crowd exploded when the announcements were made for the tourney to start. The rules were an elimination based system which is using randomized matchmaking consisting of 2 rounds per battle. Winner moves on to the next round. Haia studied the branch, it seems like a total of 6 battles, each with 2 rounds so about 12 battles in total. The girl scratches her chin as her client steps up to her, blocking the screen.
"I hope you mages are as good as they come, I'm pay-" The cilent was immediately shushed by Haia's tiny finger.
"Shh... Let me do the fighting and I assure you can at least get yourself a proper magical pet prick," The mage shuts her client up before sitting back down and returning to her magazine, only to have it cut short by a crew member calling for her client to approach the stage with her. Putting her magazine away, she follows the stage crew out and into an old fashioned arena, where bright lights and flashes made their debut upon Haia's face. This is going to be so awkward at the guild the next day when the news spreads about a chibi Haia being inside a tourney like this. At least she going to give this place a popularity boost for this infamous stunt. The good thing about this is that at least she has a mask over her face so one outside the pirates themselves could know she is Haia Illie Starstruck.
"WELCOME TO THE 3rd BATTLE FOR THE DAY! AND OH BOY DON'T WE HAVE A SPECIAL FIGHT!" The lights turn off before the spotlight shines upon their opponent,
a Hippogryph hatchling, and his moody looking companion who takes the command stand clearly not amused by her cilent bringing her in. Speaking of which, the spotlight goes on to her, shining brightly. "AND OH BOY! I CAN"T BELIEVE THE JUDGES ALLOWED THIS BUT WHAT AM I TO SAY? I DIDN'T WRITE THE RULES, expect updates to the rule book after this tourney."
A referee comes to the arena and checks with the sides before whistling them into battle.
The hatchling takes into the sky, typical. Haia jumps and rockets herself right at the half horse half bird and begin their aerial battle.
The hippogryph was a skilled flier, dodging every attempt Haia made to slice it down with her light sword before however Haia's quick and more precise turns proved to challenge the hatchling's under developed wings. The hatchling however did have strong wind magic, which was where she guessed most of the training went into as gust after gust came at her at mighty speeds. Haia switched her tactics. It did not seem that her opponent is good at adjustment tactics as she had been predictable. The mage then bursts up and switches her spell for a bola, having it spin around before tossing it like a yo-yo, a trail of light following behind as the bola wraps the hippogryph up like a cocoon and with a quick jet downwards, forces the hatchling to take a head first plunge. The dust clears and Haia is pronounced the winner of round one and the crowd roars in both boos and cheers from those who disapproved and those who were actually rooting for her respectively.
