Adalia was stretching out, having recently left the charity she was assisting.  At this point, she was somewhat at a loss of what to do.  Sure, her main goal would take a while as her sub-goals were first in line, in this case learning more about the land she was in, but she wasn't entirely sure how to go about it.  A map would really have helped her, because she didn't particularly feel too comfortable going into the unknown by herself.  She didn't actually know it wasn't too dangerous; she was raised to think that everything could be a potential enemy, and every place unsafe, so while it might have appeared as strange to others, it was completely natural for her.

The sun was shining brightly in the afternoon, many donating bits of spare change to the charity she had worked at even after the fact.  There were many smiles, laughter, happiness, even despite the situation of rebuilding the town.  It looked like a classic construction site - the ground completely dirt with materials for buildings and the likes scattered all over, many of the workers putting the structures together however it was supposed to be done, with several mages assisting the cause to speed up the process.  If it wasn't for the constant dust in the air and overly-enthusiastic crowd, she might have been able to tolerate walking among everyone else, and maybe even relax some.

She couldn't help but sigh afterwards, and started walking with the crowd on what could barely be considered roads on their outskirts.  She was hoping to find some sort of general store, one with a map, perhaps, and maybe someone that would be able to provide her with information, which would allow her to kill two birds with one stone.  She did in fact come across such a store, and behind the counter was an old man with a fabulous beard...  yet, his prices were not so fabulous; they had tags, so she needn't ask him for prices.  Adalia had no concept of hustling quite yet, and her thieving skills weren't impressive.  She thought about using her charms to convince him to give her his map, but she highly doubted it would work, so she didn't try.

I'm not keen on the idea of becoming a criminal quite yet...  or possibly ever, so I can't exactly kill him, either. she had thought to herself. She looked into her pocket and counted about 2,500 jewels, which wouldn't be enough to get almost anything, except for some food. She was clearly in the shopping area because of all the stands with food, clothing, trinkets, and various other things. She was looking through the food stands, and all of their prices were out of her range. Her stomach growled very loudly. Adalia was in a very poor mood at this point.

    Strawberry

"Mama! May I have some more?"

"Ask the kind woman, Daniel, not me."

"Lady! Lady! May I please have seconds?"

"Why of course, all you need to do is ask. I have enough for everyone, and I'm happy to feed the hungry, or those that simply want a meal."

The child's laughter rang out through the shopping district as he was met with a warm smile from the woman behind the counter. She was giving away food, something only done at soup kitchens or the like. However, this food wasn't basic homemade food with as much quality as an average mother or father could make, instead this food was that of gourmet quality. None said no to her offer to feed them, and it was impossible for the hungry to leave this stall in the state they came. There was a line, as was to be expected, and quite a long one, but all waited for a taste of the divine food prepared by the maid behind the counter. Be it for the taste, to satisfy hunger, or if it was simply because they wanted free food, no matter the reasoning everyone who desired a plate got one.

    "Thank you, Lady!"

The child moved aside for the next in line to order what he wanted. It was a large, gruff man, obviously a construction worker; such could be assumed due to him wearing the uniform of one with that vocation. He stepped forward, and put his hands to his chin.

"I'll uh... Take a good ol' fashioned Fioran Hamburger! No - two! And make 'em fit for a real man! That Burger Queen over there charges you too much with no quality!"

"No problem, sir! I'll have it done in a flash."

The maid turned around, and went fifteen paces forward. All could see how she prepared this food now. Three portals, one small and two large, opened through the use of her mana. From the small one, the woman grabbed a frying pan, and stepped into one of the larger ones, and soon came back out. The smallest one closed, and the maid then stepped into the final one she didn't go into yet, then came back out with the supplies for the burger. Closing the gateway, and stepping into the final one, she exited after about two seconds, with two "real man" sized burgers on a plate.

"Here you go, Sir. Two Fioran Hamburgers fit for a king."

"WHAT? HOW DID YOU DO THAT? Er... Uhm... What I meant was, how did you cook them so fast!?"

"Ah, a magician never reveals her secrets. Enjoy!"

The gruff construction worker stood there puzzled for a minute, thinking of possible solutions. Unbeknown to him, the dimension the woman opened rested outside the normal domain of time, so she could prepare the food in record speed. What he did know, however, was the divine taste of the hamburger after one bite. His eyes widened, and he set his plate on the stall for a second. With one swift motion, in the blink of an eye the woman was no longer on the ground behind the stall, and was enveloped in a bearhug from someone twice her size. The man must be extremely strong, as he was able to hold her weight which was not that of a normal human, and well over four times that of a woman her apparent age and size.

"Thank you for the food, Miss!!! I haven't eaten a quality burger like this in years! Give me your name, I'll be sure to send my boys over here to grab some grub on their break!"

    "My name? It's Strawberry."

Strawberry was then set down, and afterward the man stretched out.

"Well, Strawberry, as weird a name you got, you make one hell of a bite. And you weigh quite a bit despite bein' so small. What's up with that? Eh, I don't care, thanks Miss!"

The man grabbed his plate and then ran away, yellin' out to the world like a newspaper boy.

"FREE FOOD PREPARED BY THE BEST COOK YOU'VE EVER SEEN! COME GET SOME OF STRAWBERRY'S DELECTABLE GOODNESS!"

Strawberry wasn't even able to respond before he had ran away, and as such stood there dumbfounded for quite a bit. However, she soon returned to what she did best - or rather second best, next to her maid duties - which was cooking, and helping people out. Unknown to everyone here, she was a dark mage, but if they were to find out it'd only cause complications. Someone would call the Rune Knights and everyone would run in terror, because no one acknowledges the fact that criminals can be good people as well. She wasn't a fiend, she was simply a dark mage because they were those who built her. Simple as that.

    "So... Next!"

As Adalia was walking past the stalls to see for some more food, coincidentally, a man was walking past the road screaming "FREE FOOD PREPARED BY THE BEST COOK YOU'VE EVER SEEN! COME GET SOME OF STRAWBERRY'S DELECTABLE GOODNESS!"  His voice was terribly annoying, and the way he ran around the roads while stuffing his mouth could only be described as horrific and still Adalia was thankful; she could forgive the man for his antics, even if he didn't specify where to actually get the free food, so she decided it'd be best to go the direction he was coming from.  The more she thought about it, the more it seemed to good to be true - free, quality food?  That was extremely unlikely, but it was her best chance yet.

The closer she got to where the man came from the more and more people she saw crowding around a specific area, many for the first time, others for seconds, and people around with plates in their hands with what looked to be fairly appealing food.  Perhaps he wasn't kidding around...  but, why would he advertise this place?  She didn't think too much on it and carried onward to...  she wasn't exactly sure.  There were a lot of people around, too many to really know where anything was.  Whoever this person was appeared to be extremely popular.  She tried to talk to several people but the sound of her voice was drowned out with all of the laughter and talk that was going on.

Fortunately for Adalia, someone had noticed a tiny girl in such a large crowd.  "Hello young missy!  You seem lost."  It took her several moments to realize she was being spoken to.  She didn't care for his appearance, taking no mental note on it, but he did hold a plate of food.  "I am slightly sir.  I can't seem to find where to get a plate of this free food I've been hearing about, and I'm really hungry.  Do you know where it is?"  She put on her girliest voice possible as she said this.  "I do!  And you're very close to it already.  It's right over there."  The man pointed at a particularly large crowd surrounding something, which probably meant it was it.  "Thank you!"

She ran towards the crowd, squeezing and forcing her way through it; the advantage of being a fairly small person.  There were many grunts of displeasure as Adalia made her way through the giant crowd, but she didn't care too much, and the people around didn't seem to, either.  The closer and closer she got the nicer the smell was; the smell alone could make almost anybody drool, but Adalia kept her saliva in her mouth.  It took her several minutes but she had finally found herself in the front of the line...  and it was her turn to get served next.  She wasn't quite sure what to order.  There were so many foods and dishes she had never heard about.  She was extremely indecisive and her stomach had already decided that it wanted something long ago, and she couldn't keep it waiting.

"Err...", she hesitated for a moment, but had finally decided on what she was going to eat.  "Truthfully, I'm not sure what I want to eat.  A lot of these meals are new to me, and I cannot simply pick one.  So, I'll tell you this: make the best possible dish you can for me."  It was a pretty lame answer, but she didn't care.  Her only concern was to eat.  "And make it quick.  I need to get going soon."
