    " “

Mist coiled and looped across the water's surface, the only thing that disturbed it's serenity was the occasional bubble which clearly emanated from the depths below. They were slow but incessant as if someone were trying to conserve their breath and that they were. The young dragon drifted between states of unconsciousness and activity as he worked away to free a chest from the entanglement of some sea weed. His abilities were absolutely useless down here which led him to thinking why he was even considered for the job in the first place. A detail he'd quite easily forgotten while blanketed by the ocean.

"Baka, baka, baka, baka! This is what I get for getting riled up by a turbocharged rat.“ bubbles exploded from Ibara's mouth throughout his fit of rage underwater. Only a few inaudible noises could be heard, scattering nearby fish and rupturing the silent bubble that enshrouded the ocean's depths. In fact, throughout this tirade he'd quite forgotten about his inability to breathe. The young dragon's figure stiffened while his arms shot up to his throat, his eyes rolled backwards into his head but the sudden movement had ripped the chest free of weeds. With a realization of the completion of his task, he frantically cut himself in an arcing motion upwards. With the chest in tow, he shot through the water in an ascending motion, the pressure building and building as he got closer to the surface. A popping sound roared through his ear drums after finally having access to some well-earned oxygen. The chest threatened to dunk him right back to the depths again but he held strong and soon enough, he was on an object he dreaded more than drowning.

    "Ergh..“

The sound of Ibara's groans washed over him in a painful wave of something he knew very well but had experienced very little - motion sickness. Why he even decided to take himself out on a boat was beyond him, the young dragon was very conscious of what he was doing and the fact that he drove himself to a limit that would curtail his power so greatly was beyond stupid.

There he sat, in the middle of the boat. He glanced at the white, fluffy clouds above that dotted the ever-darkening sky. Although this worried him slightly, at this point, he didn't really care much to do anything about it. He just watched as the moon slowly began to overlap the sun, banishing the light of day to the pits of existence. The stars reflected on the water's surface and, all in all, it would have made for a rather pretty sight. What should be noted is that Ibara did have time to unfurl the sail only moments before the motion sickness passed over to him. So, by default, the boat was constantly moving in a direction Ibara had no ability to control. He was one with the water, drifting with the waves, riding with the current. A landmass was up ahead, piercing the darkness with it's white and icy peaks. Clearly this day wasn't going to get much better.

The boat came to an abrupt halt in a similar fashion to the Titanic. An iceberg crashed and ripped through the hull of the frail wooden ship rendering Ibara's transport completely useless for the rest of his journey. Like any vehicle that was completely ruined, Ibara abandoned ship. Not intentionally but the iceberg literally sent him into a somersault mid-air. With no time to recover, Ibara landed in a nearby tree on a desolate, white island, hanging by the seam of his trousers. There he hung, his satchel having now landed just below him, the wave of motion sickness now only reluctant to pass. His arms and legs dangled below his figure while he looked on helplessly below. The young dragon was reduced to looking like a child whom had been bullied at school, forced to endure the most painful of 'wedgies'.

"What would Igneel think.. I can feel my trousers ripping, maybe if I swing for long enough.. but then I'll have no trousers on the most desolate of icy islands I've ever encountered. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen more snow in my life. This couldn't be worse, this be couldn't worse, baka, baka! W-wait.. my food!“

The young dragon took a moment to notice but he'd glanced below him. There, his picnic blanket lay sprawled out and on top were the delicacies he'd treated himself too from the Sabertooth kitchen. He was distraught and snow began to lay waste to his food, covering every inch of his happiness in a white seasoning that he really began to despise.

Ibara realised the sound that pierced the most silent of islands slowly began to diminish. It was being overwhelmed by the sound of another; footsteps. The pitter-patter of delicate feet along the snow. He glanced along the ground only to see footprints in their place. Not a figure in sight. His eye-line followed the trail of marks only to lead to his picnic blanket to where all his food had disappeared.

    "WHAT THE HELL?! AHH!“

Ibara began to panic, all his food had disappeared in a matter of moments, whisked away before his very eyes. It took him a moment to formulate some kind of solution to the plan, to follow the footprints, a similar method that he'd used to discover the problem in the first place. Luckily enough, the amateur hadn't been subtle to cover her tracks and there she stood, at least he thought it was a she. Her face was silhouetted by the branches of nearby icy trees. Her figure was completely enshrouded in shadow to the point where she was unrecognisable so the young dragon called out in the most irritated of tones while flames leaked from his mouth in an incessant, mouth-watering stream, burning the snow below him with a hiss.

"Why you.. GIVE ME BACK MY LUNCH!“

From every mountain, to every ocean.
Over and over again on the orbit of stars and planets.
The young dragon had found nothing.

Her countless ventures to unearth the location of her family, had all but lead her back to the icy wasteland of Snowfall; its tranquil silence lulling the reef into a dream-like state, a semblance that was almost familiar to the scene of solitude. Treading along in her lonesome, with the harmony of tune resounding from the cords of her throat, booted feet crunched into the heavy snow, sudden wintry gusts nipping at her more or less unveiled figure. One who was more familiar with the heat, found the cold to be rather aggravating, especially while the wind proceeded to upturn the chill to something even more frigid. If she had been human, frostbite might have flayed the flesh along her form. But, she was durable when it came to the most extreme of weather conditions.

The trees cramped the destined route, though provided more shelter to the refinement of falling flakes of crystallized snow, a few still lounging on the peak of her crown and shoulders. Hunger teased the emptiness known as her stomach, the hasty scent of food inducing hesitation in the movement of her feet as it took the blonde a few seconds to find out with direction it was coming from. Skull veered back, nose raised upward, she inhaled the crisp air like some sort of dog, elation glinting in her large eyes as she identified the location of this hopefully delicious meal. Moving at a more rapid pace, she came to a small opening, a picnic blanket left against the sodden earth, a few pieces of fruit and sandwiches gradually going to waste by the exposure to the flurry of white. Approaching the containments, slender arms gathered the feed carefully, holding a single red apple in the grip of her teeth as she nonchalantly began to walk away.

A few steps taken, and a thunderous voice called out to the oblivious, clearly upset by the abduction of a simple meal. Proceeding towards the desolated bag and checkered cloth, it was then that she discerned the ridiculous looking male that hung up above, sorely from his trousers. Using her free hand, she took a morsel out of the crimson apple, gazing up at the red-head with an expression of hilarity and astonishment. "Oh, sorry I didn't see you up there." a slight tease was found in the tone of her voice, lips raising into a sneer. Magic composed into the area, the ability of wind forcing the branch that held him up, to go down. He would either fall face-first into the bitter cold of snow, or surprisingly stumble onto his feet, either way, the child of the woods continued to speak.

"How does one get himself stuck up in the trees? You're lucky it was this one whom passed by, and not a family of wolves." more than half the food that she held was gone now, his lunch not merely enough to satisfy her hunger. Perhaps he would have preferred the wolves than the blonde? At least they had the decency to stray far from the scent of humans. "Hm, wait a minute." leaning forward, midway through chewing, the seemingly young woman did not fathom the dignity of personal space, sniffing the red-haired male with a slight frown arched in her brows. "Igneel!" with a sudden shout she took a few steps back, "...You smell like him, how interesting!" at last, every bit of his measly lunch was gone, the glint of foolery painted along her expression as she began to walk off yet again, a slight skip in her stride.

"Follow me, son of the fire dragon! You may smell most things, but I doubt your sense of direction is as good as this one!" knowing mockery would lead the other into a bitter pursuit, still unaware she had devoured his entire source of food, the blonde moved in assumption to the hopeful extra company.

    Of all places.
Fire was not expected in the felicity of snow.

    " “

Blood pounded in Ibara's ears while his face turned an unsanitary shade of red. Clearly being in such an upside-down position for such an extended period of time would take it's toll on even the strongest of dragons. He was running out of breath by now, all the blood that was meant to maintain the rest of his body in this absolutely dire cold had now settled comfortably in his brain, disregarding the needs to the entirety of his figure. He'd quite forgotten about the mischievous lady for a few seconds, and that was just his mistake. It was only when he looked back again that he'd noted that his once half-eaten platter of picnic-related goodies had now been demolished and reduced to crumbs and scraps. That once sickening shade of red that emblazoned on Ibara's face turned a glowing orange and his hair literally set itself on fire.

    "No one messes with my~“

Ibara was cut short at the immediacy of facts that now began to dribble from the young woman's mouth. She had begun to talk about Igneel, Ibara's very own 'father', a fact no one in the world knew, aside from maybe Klein. The fact that she was able to deduce it so quickly simply from a whiff of his rather unsanitary odour left the young dragon absolutely dumbfound. He stood there while his hands, which were once resting on his stomach to stop himself from hurling at this angle now dangled by his sides, throwing themselves past his head. He blinked a few times but he wasn't spared a moment to question the fact as the woman promptly set to work at cutting through the branches that binded his trousers, or at least lowered them. This sent Ibara careering into the snow, immediately dousing the flames that once encircled his red hair like an extremely threatening crown. His voice was muffled as he emerged from the snowy pit, his mouth full to the brim with the white, crystalled substance that covered this island from head to toe. He watched her for a moment as she prompted him to follow her, his red and yellow eyes were narrowed all the while..

"You think I'm meant to trust you? Just 'cause you know Igneel won't make me fall into your arms y'know? What's to stop me from getting revenge after you devoured my lunch.. possibly my last lunch, mind you. Have you even seen where we are? How can you possibly know where we're going?!“

These questions flooded Ibara's mind but none of them were made audible. Instead, he remained speechless, his jawline partially outstretched to make way for a slightly abridged mouth as he watched the woman walk off into the distance. He didn't know her name, where she came from or what she did but frankly, Ibara didn't care. Anyone who even vaguely knew his father and lived to tell the tale was clearly a friend of the King of Fire Dragons, a factor Ibara didn't take lightly.

So, without question, Ibara removed himself from the watery lake he now found himself in after his natural body heat made short work of the snow around him and followed her without even a scrap of evidence as to who she was. But, like most things, Ibara liked to handle things blindfolded. It made everything more..

    ... exciting.

Many moments had passed by and with each passing step, the young dragon left a sizzling pile of water in his wake. Clearly Ibara and the island clashed at every level which only made him more desperate to leave in a moment's notice. He watched the woman strike out ahead, she hadn't said much since they departed, she seemed focused on something; a fact that Ibara couldn't quite pinpoint so he decided to speak out.

"You haven't explained who you are, y'know. You know my father, how? He's been missing for years.“

Ibara swallowed a lump in his throat. He was well aware of the fact that Igneel had gone missing only two years after his training. The young dragon had intentionally visited his parent and mentor a brief time after joining Sabertooth. He'd returned home only to find an empty cave and a broken-down hearth; something rarely seen in the pits of a Fire Dragon. Ibara couldn't identify the reason why he was gone, nor what he would do otherwise but he hadn't questioned it. If there was anything he valued above all else, it was his father's judgement. But still, to feel a sense of abandonment was inevitable, the King of Ibara's heritage had left without even a word of goodbye; that was difficult for any child to swallow.

"...Oh, and I forgot to mention. Where the hell are we going?!“

As expected, or at least, wished upon, the spirited red persisted a few feet behind her, every shape into the surface of white falling victim to the sweltering flames that settled within him. Lips curved upward, grinning to her lonesome at the company of one whom was not quite expected to be here of all places. It was almost akin to finding a feral cat of the desert washed up on the reef of Snowfall, a place much too cold for those who found refuge in the heat.

Having roamed most of the large isle by now, the young dragon was fully aware of the vast locations and pathways that lingered covertly through the forest. It would have been less of an endeavour if more people visited this placid haven on the stillness of lightly jolting waters, yet, this place was partially hidden through the heavy mist that draped the expanse of icy oceans. Plus, the chill of weather was not as inviting as the glowing warmth from Fiore. Icebergs and risk of frostbite was much less likely to happen in the constant summer of green-land.

Abruptly, the usual motion of skipping feet, slowed to a stop. Large pink eyes hesitantly facing the red behind her, a look of surprise drawn into her captivating features. Unusual with one who was so used to smiling, even in the worst of situations, the seemingly young girl forced an almost strained grin upon her lips before glancing down at her worn shoes. Instead of confessing what had just been a shock, or, more importantly, a realization that she may have well been utterly alone all this time, a diverse choice of sentences and words parted from the safety of her mind.

"I often heard stories of the King of Fire dragons.." approaching the youth, excitement shining in her heartfelt eyes, she disregarded personal space once again, "I met him once, when I was a child! He was sooooo cool!" taking a few steps back, the shining beam faded to a lighter tone, one that seemed to be almost nostalgic, if not, sympathetic, "Though, I had no idea he had disappeared.. it seems we both are in the same boat! Did you come all the way out here just to look for him?" if he answered or not, after a second or perhaps a few moments of speaking, her eyes would widen briefly, a slender hand extending forth into the gesture of a shake.

"You can call me Anna.. it would be a pleasure to know your name as-well! Or, might I have to call you Red instead?" hey that rhymed! Just as she was about to receive the name, of one whom trained under the most recognized of dragons, a large figure crashed through the trees, snowy earth shuddering to the weight of the creature as her attention, previously focused on the other, turned to meet eyes with a strangely infuriated vulcan. Brows arched nervously to the beast, as if confused as to why it was so enraged, let alone, beginning to charge directly into their location.

A free hand, reached back to grasp onto the wrist of the male, forcing him to evade the creature as she dragged him along into the forest. Just a hair away from being crushed by the firm hold of the monkey, it quickly followed behind them, having no trouble with dashing through the snow as the blonde stuck to the most crowded parts of the forest.

Meanwhile, she had merely just eaten the vulcan's food.
It was to say that the red and the monkey's situation was not any different.

    @NERD

    Did she call me Red?
Ibara listened tentatively to each skipping step that the woman ahead of him seemed to emanate from. She continued forwards for a few minutes without saying a word just as an icy chasm began spreading out on either side of the two. He trained his eyes on her back like a hawk, he clearly wanted answers that she wasn't offering up right now. That was until she came to an absolute halt, nearly sending the young dragon straight over the edge and into the dark abyss that resided below.

"You crazy or something?! I don't feel like dropping to my death anytime soon!

His brows creased in a frustrated fashion before the girl answered his frustrations through speech which somewhat relieved the dragon, she hadn't talked for a while and to hear her voice now formed some kind of connection between them. His eyebrows slowly unfurled from eachother and he rolled his arms over his chest only to hear her out at that point. She began talking about Igneel; a soft subject for the dragon slayer. His head inclined towards his chest so it seemingly drooped down while his eyes focused on the snow. He did his best to bite back a choke or a sob that would betray his manlihood. He was always looking for Igneel, although that wasn't the specific reason as to why he was here; the reason he took so many jobs in such a global fashion was for the simple reason that he'd have hopes that his father would be in one of those locations. Not once was he successful so instead, he let his demeanour and body actions answer for him. It was clear this was not a subject he wanted to delve into.

He'd guessed that his body language was a significant sign to the woman as she dropped the subject, whether this was the case or not mattered not to the young dragon. That was until she began to unleash her introductory session on Ibara. She was surprisingly upfront with him, something he had not expected from a stranger he'd met on an island in such a short space of time. She continued by saying.

"You can call me Anna.. it would be a pleasure to know your name as-well! Or, might I have to call you Red instead?" He blinked a few times and reached behind his head, stretching out with one arm rather nonchalantly. He thought about the moniker for a few moments and surprisngly found himself indulging in it. It was simplistic yet explanatory, it defined him well. So in return, Ibara soon began to reply.

"Anna.. huh? Pretty simple for someone so complicated. I'm Ibara but Red will suit me just fine." He smiled towards his surprisingly casual response. Usually in one-to-one social situations such as this one, the young dragon was a complete verbal wreck as if he hadn't quite grasped the art of speaking, even at his age. Luckily his challenge wasn't extended much further, and instead, the two were plunged into a different kind of task; a physical task in the shape of what seemed to be a vulcan.

Ibara was experienced with the creatures and he gritted as teeth as it burst through the forest, blinded by a rage that the young dragon couldn't determine the reason of. It's path was clear as it bounded across the ice towards them. The bridge that would carry them to safety across the chasm was beginning to crack under the combined weight of the three creatures that dotted across the barren fjord. In fact, if it weren't for Anna, the three of them would have tumbled to their deaths. He felt her hand clasp around her wrist and within a surprisingly short space of time, the two wizards had burst back from whence they came, disappearing through the forest.

"You got any idea as to why we're being chased by a giant monkey?!" Ibara's breath was whisked away at Anna's surprisng speed, for a girl of her stature and size, she was extremely fast. The young dragon was astounded at the pace she maintained. Unluckily, no human being was agile enough to keep up with a vulcan, especially not in it's home turf. It's silhouette began creeping up in the trees alongside them at equal pace. If Ibara's eyes hadn't trained on it, they may have been crushed; the vulcan crashed through the trunks and sent splintering pieces of wood flying. It's figure loomed on them both.

It was Ibara's turn to save the day. He spun his foot against the ground so it skidded against the snow. He slowed the both of them with strength unbeknownst to most humans in order to pivot himself on one foot. With this shifting of weight, he pulled Anna into his arms, wrapping his figure around hers temporarily. Using the momentum of his spin, he jumped backwards, avoiding the vulcan by a hairs breadth as it crashed infront of them.

The suicidal blow that the vulcan had attempted to commit had by no means dictated the end of this battle; all the worse for the two, they were vulnerable now, both grounded, Ibara's body looming over Anna's protectively.

The rhythm of a drumming heart pounded against the walls of her chest, lungs; encased by the shafts of bone like cages, perilously eating away at the fresh air in an almost desperate and exhausting manner. Despite her body descending into what could only be similar, to a shock-like state, emotions and the panic to liberate from the harm of the large monkey, shoved aside all irritation of exercise. Often traversing from town to town, city to city, and country to country, did indeed comply her to stay in shape, though, most of the time, she was either napping, or compelled to run away from whatever enraged being chased after her. Those that knew her well could only say she had a nuisance of a habit that seemed to make most people quite angry at her. The reason came behind the oblivious, the selfishness, and the confidence that emitted from her very self. Something that probably would never go away.

She had not noticed it before. But her fingers were writhed tightly against his wrist, to the point blood had risen beneath, in strained crimson marks. The beast, aside them and nearing, darted at an incredible speed, wrecking the innocent trees that stood tall to guard this reef. Red, halting abruptly, enforced her to also stop, as her usually witty mind, did not have time to comprehend what would happen next. In fact, everything blurred out around them both, the momentum of such an action, leaving gravity to take hold as her back descended against the cold snowy floor. The comforting sensation of heat lingered above, large captivating pools, calming the spinning that circled within her skull. It was not long before she realized who loomed over her, an immediate grin teasing at the corner of her lips.

"What? Are you fired up already? Ah~! I don't think my heart can handle this!~" the tone of her voice played out in both a perverted, yet, joking-like way, arms casually sliding to rest behind the nape of his neck before her attention faltered to the large monkey, imposing Ibara to suddenly rest his face into her chest. "Ehhh.. I thought it was farther away than that!" sliding out from the Red, who was either pissed off, or flustered; she stood to her feet, casually brushing herself off before facing the beast that grunted and gnarled to her confidence to admire it so carelessly. For a moment, exposed lids narrowed, musing as to why the monkey was so familiar. Of course, she had met and come across many of the same species, though, she felt as though she had met this one before, if not, quite recently. Yet, as much as she thought about it, nothing would click together. Perhaps it was just upset because the two were crossing over its territory?

With a sudden burst of rage, the large hand of the beast lashed straight into the direction of blondette, muscles jolting in reaction to the attack as her place from the ground, had now become the placing of a nearby tree. A single elbow rested against the cold hollow from above, cheek settled into the side of her open hand. "Its not nice to hurt others, ya know!" she called out, the golden opticals of the beast veering straight into her direction, only the tree falling victim to the vulcan's second attempt to try and squish her into a pancake. Landing next to Ibara, a rather playful expression flooded her features, alluring hues seemingly sparkling in excitement to the thrill of almost being killed. "Hey Red, why don't you show me what the son of Igneel can do?" with a pause, she glanced his way, "Unless of course you're to scared of that big old angry chimp." the purpose to tease, came with the urge to have fun. Would she get to see the fever of flames that hid within him? Or would they turn and run again? It was merely his choice now to decide.

    "Stop messing with me.."
"What? Are you fired up already? Ah~! I don't think my heart can handle this!~" The words flooded into Ibara abruptly, his cheeks brightened and flushed at the thought upon the realisation of what she was actually implying. Luckily, such a revelation was short lived with the vulcan's attempt at striking Viola down while she was heavily vulnerable. Ibara stammered and stuttered for a moment, still grounded and bewildered by what had previously been said. Like all things, that confused the young dragon to no end though it always seemed to finish with his frustration. Shamefully for the creature, he was the only humanoid available that Ibara could unleash his frustration upon. As he rose to his feet, he caught onto Viola's secondary set of words simultaneously.

"Hey Red, why don't you show me what the son of Igneel can do? Unless of course you're to scared of that big old angry chimp." As if Ibara wasn't annoyed enough already, "Red" took up Viola on her words quite literally. The second he stood to his feet, the snow instantaneously melted around him, causing lakes of steaming water now to rise against the trees and reach the ankles of the vulcan as well as the knees of the two mages. The sheer heat that now radiated from the young dragon's body was so immense, that it even went so far as to intimidate the vulcan whom once stood so strong and proud infront of them. It gave off a slight whimper; it was clear now who was predator and who was prey.

"You want a son of Igneel?" Ibara scoffed without even looking back. The Vulcan began backing away by the second, scampering further and further into the shadows of the trees. However, just like that, in the blink of an eye, Ibara was gone, disappearing into the shadows of the forest with the animal. All that could be heard after such a thing was continuous whimpers, grunts of pain; each more beast-like than human in nature. Occasionally Viola would be able to make out the occasional fiery punch landing due to the illumination of the flames that now exploded, rocketed and careered over the vulcan's now bruised and battered body.

In a few short minutes, the ordeal was over. Ibara walked out of the trees while holding a large creature by the scruff of it's neck. The vulcan was somewhat unrecognisable; bruised, battered and broken but breathing nonetheless. Clearly the young dragon hadn't the heart nor the constitution to kill the thing but it had definitely learnt it's lesson and an established food chain had been created. The vulcan was the prey and the dragon - the predator.

"Stop messing with me.." Ibara said in a slightly exasperated fashion, dropping the vulcan so it's unconscious body slammed against the water before submerging finally. The young dragon shook his wet hair and looked at her again. She was beautiful and there was no doubt some sense of embarrassing attraction when she had flirted with him before the encounter however Ibara was simply too ignorant to let it show.

we are hardly what we seem
    tag: @shoe // words: 815 // notes: x
As the red escalated to the placing of his feet, the drift of fallen snow rapidly fell victim to the heat of challenge that emitted around him. Because of the slight hill that circled around the three, possibly already the placing of an old and frozen pond; heightened the once icy ground, to the similarity of a sudden warm spring. Anna could only grow slightly alarmed over the fact that her boots had already been deluged by freshly tempered snow, attention hesitating from scrambling to the hillside, or watching the wildfire strike back in the passion similar to Igneel. By the time the two had launched into the shadows of the forest, large pink eyes observed the flicker of flames that lashed out briefly every now and then, devouring the shadows from their safety. This one could care less about a pair of boots at the moment, despite how uncomfortable it may of been. Her attention had been seized into the thrilling time of battle.

Which, was not like her. Anna was a being of peace. She would do anything to avoid conflict, even if it meant running away like a coward. That was the way of her people. To be gentle, and love one another. To be curious, and to befriend. And especially, to protect the forest. This one, was one of the very rarest that could communicate with animals and creatures of all kinds; what was befuddling was why she couldn't understand this beast of an ape.

Yet by the time this thought embarked along the transition of her mind, Red was already making his way out of the shadows, impaired and defeated vulcan lugged out behind him. It was almost as if he were displaying his proof of being a winner, releasing the being into the warm water as it lay there, dispersing multiple bubbles. At this moment, she was uncertain on what to do. She mused her next choice of words, though the irritation of her suffused boots, urged her to approach the side that did not have this sudden, yet, inviting spring. Raising the right foot, Anna forced the drenched material off of her, nearly falling backwards as she stumbled a few feet back, dumping the shoe of its liquids and attempting to shake it dry. "I did not realize I was messing with you, Red." with a pause she faced his way, one arm extended outward in a shrug-like gesture; boot still in hand, "Although that is quite fun! For somebody so... hot-headed I must say you're quite amusing!" grinning in jest to his way, she yanked the still damp shoe onto her foot, and removed the other.

"I definitely remember those flames." her voice, still audible but a bit quiet, hummed playfully to herself, eventually pulling on the other damp shoe as captivating pools, faltered into his direction once more. Never once bearing any sign of ill-intention, but rather, utter curiosity. "I'm glad... that time had the pleasure of bounding our fates." with a pause, blondette took a few steps back, "We after all, seem to bear similarities in our stories. But, I wonder if you can keep up with me? I do not run at the pace of fire, though at the flurry of a storm." and with that, a gust of wind formed, allowing her to propel a few feet back and on to the top of the slope, her view of Red now facing downward at the melted snow and unconscious vulcan.

As if a child, she stuck her tongue out at him, one hand gesturing into a wave, "Catch me if you can!" she shouted, without delay bombarding into the opposite direction at a normal running pace. Anna was not a cheater. She could run just fine without magic; with the strength of a beast that dwelled within her. What came with her aim in this aimless game, was absolutely nothing. Or rather, she had not quite decided yet. Truthfully she was still trying to process that the son of Igneel himself was here on this island with her. Not once had she considered something such as that to ever be possible. The other dragons that taught the many other slayers within the world, were not as interesting as who Igneel had the gratification of teaching. She wanted to ask many questions. To poke and prod what the two of them did together, and what it was like dealing with the Fire King himself.

Though, the moment those words... "he's been missing for years.." tumbled out from the safety of Red's lips, her disappointment, went from sympathy to then a mixture of dread and worry. If the other dragons were gone, wouldn't that mean they were as well? Was she the only one left? Or were they out there somewhere.. just hiding within the depths of the forest. Not even she could tell.

    "Stop messing with me.."
The young dragon glanced at her for a moment, identifying her reaction his treatment of the vulcan -- how well he had handled the situation. She seemed pleased to say the least, despite her rather playful mannerisms, she was a peaceful being with no ill-intention towards the animal that now floated unconsciously atop the cesspool of steaming hot water that formed around the pair's feet. Anna started by removing her wet shoes, emptying them systematically, throwing slightly cold water back into the fray, causing steam to uprise in the woman's face. Ibara watched her intently as she spoke. There was a sense of familiarity between them, the way she held herself, the way she composed herself, the way she was poised -- the way she moved. It was all so similar but where from, Ibara hadn't the slightest clue -- at least not yet.

"Although that is quite fun! For somebody so... hot-headed I must say you're quite amusing!" Ibara hadn't payed attention to the first part of her sentence, he was so captivated by her, not in an admirable way but in that same feeling of familiarity, he was determined to find out why he felt such a connection with her. However, he shook himself to life to speak for himself, she was toying with him, playing.. although her intentions were innocent -- this wasn't a factor Ibara took lightly.

"Cut it out.." Ibara complained in a rather childish way, ruffling the back of his, now-wet, red hair, sending showering sprays back into the water below. It was icing over again by now, the once steaming hot-tub that they had enclosed themselves in began to freeze over once more, representing how very cold this island really was. Ibara meant to say more to her but before he knew it, she was off again, propelling a short amount of wind from underneath her feet in order to launch herself upwards onto a nearby hill, removing her from the now icy depths that began to freeze at the young dragon's toes.

"Hey..! Where the hell do you think you're going?!" Ibara glanced over as Anna began sprinting away at the same incomprehensible speeds that he'd identified from earlier. Seriously. Her physical capabilities were beyond a humane level, this something about her.. Ibara felt as if these qualities he empathized with her most certainly did not come from his human side of the family but.. the preposterity of what he now suggested to himself was absurd. She couldn't be.. no.. no human had such an ability? Or.. Dragon for that matter.

Ibara watched on as she most likely got further and further away. The young dragon grimaced and prepped his foot against the ground, pushing off from the snow within a second, launching himself from the ground and propelling himself halfway up the hill, even without the aid of magic. Although Ibara did possess only the highest of physical charateristics for a human in some regards (speed included), he was still a fast runner and his attempts to catch up to Anna weren't in vain. The trees that shrouded his path, where he would have to duck, weave and dive from left to right slowed his run dramatically but luckily Anna had to inherit a similar principle.. at least she wasn't super strong too.

"Wait.. Wait.. UP!" Ibara spoke between short and ragged breaths, he did his best to conserve his oxygen but this island had a general high altitude, it was hard to maintain such a pace when inhibited by snow and maintaining enough air with which to function at such a rate. He felt like he only had a few hundred metres left in him. Ibara gritted his teeth and fire slowly trickled out from behind his feet, it seemed he'd used a lot of energy, more than he thought anyway when combatting the vulcan. Catching up to her would be a task that'd expend a lot of his magic power.. perhaps too much. But there was no questioning it, he had to get close to this girl. He needed answers about her and soon.

"You aren't getting away." Ibara roared to himself. "Inferno Wings of the Fire Dragon!" All of a sudden, huge, gargantuan dragon-like wings that shone with crimson fire burst out of Ibara's shoulder blades, one respective of each and increased Ibara's speed tenfold. He zoomed through the trees, cutting them down with literal blades of fire extending from his back. He caught up to her within seconds, just as the wings evaporated from him, sending him flying forwards. He couldn't stop himself.. he was going to crash.. again.

Ibara did his best to spin himself in mid-air, catching Anna by the shoulder and sending her tumbling forwards with him. He flipped her accidentally and they were both sent careering in a roll forwards, down a hill and through a barrage of trees. Ibara clinged to her body in desperation, knowing that if he let her go, she could hit a tree and.. at this speed.. it'd be a shoe in to cause extremely severe damage. But, like all things, they eventually came to a halt. In a similar manner to before, Ibara now lay face-first in the snow, cheek-to-cheek with Anna. He blushed and pushed himself up slightly in a push-up like manner. Both hands rested against the snow on either side of Anna's face. His legs on either side of her.

"You've not finished explaining yourself yet.. Who are you.. really, and why are you here?" Ibara struggled to say it all between exasperated pants. It was all he could manage to simply stay upright atop of her, rather than collapsing downwards into her body. Would this be where he finally receives his answers? Ibara presumed his assumptions were positively preposterous but could the triviality of what he was suggesting really be that absurd? He glanced at her again.. not once but two times. Ibara knew dragons better than anyone, he'd seen them countless times before but never in a human shell but if he were to put a label on such a thing.. she'd fit the bill perfectly.

A calming, yet, almost haunting reticence deluged the island. Nothing but the voices of two reflecting through the icy crevasse of mountains. Feet thrashed against the powdery layer of snow, gliding outward like dust as the blondette sprinted away from the wildfire hot on her trail. It was rather absurd that a mer human would have as much desperation as to chase after somebody he just met. Though, when the young dragon mused about it — halfway through running — she did think it was reasonable after mentioning his father. One whom had been missing for the last few years. If Red had spoken of her people, the situation would be entirely reversed in this case.

The movement in feet decreased to an eventual halt, somewhat returning to her senses. Though she was not one to commonly stop, a part of her urged on the door to spill the secrets. He was the son of a dragon — not too mention a very well-known one. It was not wrong for her to be willing to trust him as easily, compared to the others. After all, Igneel was the one that saved her, long before the time Red had been brought into this world. Oddness was at its point with the massive age difference, though, a loud roar shattered the allegedly young woman back into reality. Pink eyes faltered over the shoulder, body no longer grounded as she was compelled backwards at an almost unpleasant force.

By then, the world around her spun at a rapid pace, branch after branch doing its best to assault the pair that spiralled by till they eventually slowed to the flatter surface of earth. Every part of flesh exposed felt an aching, identical to the feeling of being slapped as it took a few moments for the world around her to lastly regain stillness. Blondette couldn't say she was all too surprised to see Red staring at her from above — the warmth that radiated from him was actually quite inviting. "Geez Red, if you wanted to know so badly all you had to do is ask." a smile traced the lips of the youthful dragon, number in years much more ancient in the norm of a human span.

"What is it you believe me to be? Is this one not as convincing as the reality of now?" laughter escaped the raising lips, half joking discovered within the tone of her words as she continued, "Perhaps, Red, you think I know more about you, than you do, me?" the expression among barely scathed features softened, "I may be incredibly smart, but I'm definitely no psychic. Although, if you're curiosity is so strong as to maul this one through the innocent trees... then I guess I'll tell you why I'm here." abruptly, slender hands would land on either side of Ibara's face, not hefty enough to cause harm, but to at least startle him. It was better to speak with warm hands, rather than cold while telling a bit of the tale.

"My name is Anna. I had a very large village, like family to me, go missing years ago whilst I was only a child. I've been searching for them ever since, from country to country, from island to island. Its actually the twentieth time I've visited this dreadfully cold place! Though so far, I have not given up hope! I know they must be out there somewhere, just like Igneel must also be out there! Thats why, when you told me he had gone missing, I was quite shocked." casually, her hands retreated from his face, one resting against the roofing of his heart, "Maybe they're out there, waiting for us to find them. Perhaps it was fate that led us to meeting each-other on this island. Either way! You've gotta go with what you feel! With what your heart tells you!" the last one departed from him, awkwardly itching at her cheek as she glanced over to the side, "At least, thats what they always told me." having blabbered to much, yet, not enough to reveal the identity of what hid by the barrier of magic, she awaited for a response.

Or perhaps, maybe he would not reply at all.
The memory of eating all his food was creeping in on her mind.
He's not still hung up on that, is he?

    "Stop messing with me.."
Ibara's speech stammered as her hands rested on either side of his face. She began to talk in soothing motions, much similar to that in comparison with a mother and child. She relaxed him, deterred him from any state of ever-vigilance in order to allure him into what she had to say.

She spoke of her story, her village and the disappearance of her people. Even going so far as to relate their disappearance to Igneel's too, as if the two very different species had some kind of correlation. What exactly was she trying to hide? What did the disappearance of a village, clad by humanity have to do with the mysterious concealment from the King of the Fire Dragons? Ibara simply made no connection and a frown adorned upon his face. He pushed his hands on either side of her upwards from the snow. The pressure released small tads of snow into the air as he elevated himself upwards and off her body. He did his best not to act embarrassed in the meaning of doing so; realising quite literally he'd pinned Anna down to that very spot.

He glanced upon her for a few moments, folding his arms across eachother and remained silent for the time being. What information was there truly about Igneel? That was when she spoke again. She spoke of hope, as well as having faith in what Ibara believed in -- that one day he truly would find his father. This was a simplicity Ibara just couldn't afford to believe. It just wasn't that simple, there was a reason behind his father's disappearance, a reason larger than life itself; the young dragon simply hadn't discovered it yet. He drew a breath and began to speak, rivulets of iced air expelling from his mouth.

"What could the disappearance of your people possibly have to do with my father? Humans and Dragons don't intermingle often and this is definitely a representation of that."

Ibara spoke coldly and turned away from Anna as a tear adorned on his left eye. The young dragon refused to let it drop to the ground and simply wiped it with one finger elevating by his side. He glanced around him to the nearby trees before upwards to the sky, his arms still folded. He was concerned, scared, worried, afraid. All these traits brought around by the loss of a father to a son. He didn't know what to think. He didn't mean to come off as hostile but this was simply a topic that, if delved into too far, could lead to scary consequences.

"It's hopeless. Igneel's probably gone forever."

Ibara breathed a heavy sigh while his head directed upwards towards the sky; hands pocketed and removed from his chest. A few more breaths expelled from him, clearly visible due to the distinguishable freezing sensation to the air. He didn't know what to say or do at this point, he simply let a shroud of awkwardness settle over the situation.

Apprehension strung a cord within the blonde, like a sudden strident note on the lines of a violin — the grimace  drawn onto his features was anything but reassuring. Especially since it appeared that her words had not ceased the dejection of his father's disappearance. Normally she thought she was quite good with cheering others up — though in most cases it could be quite the opposite. If Anna was correct, perhaps she had deluged to deeply into Red's personal affairs? The warmth that endured his figure subsided into the icy atmosphere of Snowfall, leaving a shiver to wander up the base of her spine as she also stood to her feet. It was true with the remark, that they were similar in some way. Despite the massive difference in personality, it didn't seem right to leave out the details of her people, especially after going as far as to interpret her past. Then again, Anna was not the type of individual to expose things right away.

"Sorry." spoken into the sudden tension, with the will to rid of such aggravating emotions, a few steps were taken towards Red — the space between them dwindling. "I didn't realize that it might be hard to talk about this, so I'll leave it for another time, whenever you feel like talking about it again." fingers outstretched to clasp onto one of Ibara's free hands, both expressing her excitement, yet, leeching off his warmth as she continued to speak, "But, we are similar! As much as I want to share more with you, fate has brought us together so suddenly I'm not sure wether I should spill my secrets!" now both hands held the singular one, slightly rattling it in elation as she spoke, "I don't think you'd look at me the same though! Or maybe you'd be amazed! Ahhh, I don't know, I don't know!" two hands departed from his own, taking a few steps back as she disheveled her own hair in a sign of turmoil. "I don't know what to do now... the dragons are all gone... truly that cannot be." speaking to herself, but loud enough to be heard, and perhaps considered a bit odd, the blondette could not stop rambling.

Though, thankfully, she managed to catch herself before a few inept sentences approached the exit of her mouth, lips pursed firmly together as she eventually let out a large large sigh. Her breath was seen briefly on the cold air, the familiar smile lighted upon her features as she turned to face Red once again. "You must be as hungry as this one." captivating irises glanced up to the sky, the day already fading as evening crept hastily across the endless welkin. "Night falls more quickly here compared to where you came from. It'd be best to find something to eat by then, then set up a fire." with a pause, she grinned over at Ibara, "For you, that shouldn't be to difficult." beginning to lead the way once more, despite the common smile adorned on her lips, there was something about her voice, that had not been as light-hearted prior to their first encounter. A secrecy of thoughts and emotions that brought her more into her imagination than the reality of now. For the first time, in a long time, Anna was beginning to feel conflicted with her heart and her mind.

    "Stop messing with me.."
The blonde, erratic female was right. It was getting dark and fast. Ibara considered over the brief few moments which had gone by since he'd rejected her idea of the proposal that Igneel could possibly be alive. His words had gotten to her sadly enough, maybe the prospect simply was too good to be true. An idea too reinforced by hope, impossibly achievable in the long-run. Ibara shook his head, looking down to her hands that had grasped his own and now led him on to a random location on this icy fjord that spanned for miles on end with no sign of life.

He continued walking behind her, returning his gaze to the back of her head rather than skulking in his own misery while his eyes remained transfixed on the sky like earlier. He wouldn't let such dastardly emotions escape him so easily, to show such weakness infront of a girl he barely knew was preposterous, it wasn't like the young dragon at all and so he refused to do so. Despite his anger at her previous statement, he kept his hand in both her own as she dragged him on, not only for the fact that only she knew where they were going but her grasp comforted him, her optimistic gazes reassured him that everything was going to be alright despite the fact that it wasn't. It reminded him of a few people he'd come to meet in the span of his life, young and old; she encompassed all of them.

"Sorry for earlier.. I didn't mean to lash out at you."

Ibara spoke bluntly, pushing his head against his chest and diverting his gaze from the back of her head. Her reply was distant (unrecognisable until she replies) as she led them both into a cave, encompassed only by darkness, I guess Ibara now knew what she meant by the absence of fear yet there was an incessant need for one. The temperature dropped within the cave dramatically, it was colder in there than outside for god knows what reason. Ibara didn't question it and his free-hand, the only solely not glued to her own, lit up and emblazoned the ground beneath them. He formed a circle pire of never-ending dragon-flames which sparked at the ground. Luckily no ice or now tampered the earth beneath, it was simply cold, yet easy to light without hindrance.

After the fire was lit and comfort, to a degree, was established within the cave, Ibara softly let go of her grip and went to sit down by the fire, glancing out at the cave entrance, ever-vigilant of incoming danger after being slightly discomforted by the appearance of the vulcan. With a second glance back to Anna, he'd realised an awkward silence had befallen the cave in his moments of absent thought so he decided to speak.

"Well, you've got your fire. Time to fulfil your end of this deal. Where's the food?!"

    so i'll find
    what lies beneath

    @SHOE
    i sorta time-skipped
    a little, hope that was
    alright 8')

A few minutes passed as the two sat around the fire, the stony walls of the cavern as icy as the winds that hummed from outside. Before evening had deluged this place in darkness, the blondette managed to get them both a meal, which, probably was not what Red had expected, though in the end it turned out to be quite good — bear surprisingly tasted like chicken. Her stomach was full, but the solid floor of the rocky surface felt lifeless and chilled, it was almost lonely despite the company that settled furthest from her. They hadn't really spoken much ever since the little outburst from the effects of her prying. Igneel this. Igneel that. What was she — an idiot? There was relief in the fact that she had not continued blabbering on with little to no information on why the two of them were so similar. It had never really crossed her mind in the first place, but, she felt like she was hesitating when it came to telling Red the truth. Of course they had only just met. That made sense. There was no real reason for her to tell him everything when he was basically like an absolute stranger. Yet, for some reason, it didn't feel that way. It wasn't just because he had been raised by Igneel himself, or the fact that he probably had to struggle with the fact that his only family, just disappeared without a word. It was something she couldn't quite decipher. A strange feeling that seemed to pull her towards the male, all curiosity settled on what secretive thoughts fluttered within his mind. Yeah. This was it. She was gonna say it. There was no going back now!

"I haven't been very honest with you." a smile traced her lips, though, it wasn't as happy as the usual look she wore. It was delicate and nostalgic. Her gaze facing the blazing light that danced nimbly before them both. "My people. I'm so used to calling them that, that I've forgotten that they aren't exactly... people." she paused, taking a few seconds to prepare herself for the few words she were about to say, "Dragons... I was raised... by dragons." normally for a human that would sound so surreal. But it was definitely the truth. After all, it had to be the same for them right? For all those children that had been chosen by the dragons. They led a life that was the same as her own... well sorta've. "Thats why... when you told me... Igneel had disappeared... it startled me." suddenly leaning forward, her expression lit up in a flurry of excitement, "But, I was also happy! I mean... I thought I was all alone in this... this situation..." her gaze faltered to her lap, hands stiffening just barely against her legs, "So... I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable Red. I guess, I just got a little carried away..." gentle laughter swept over the cave, echoing slightly across its cool walls as she raised her head once more, "Its been awhile... since I've last sat with somebody like this." she got most of it off her chest. She was honest, yet, there was one little but very important fact that she had left out. Something, that separated them greatly in terms of kind.

    She was not human.

    a dragon's tale: unexalted fear
Ibara couldn’t his utter astoundment at the news. Anna had just announced she was raised by dragons. The idea that this was even possible couldn’t even begin to be processed within Ibara’s mind. She was raised by dragons? In the exact same manner to how Ibara was raised. Two hundred million questions raced around Ibara’s brain, all competing to be asked first and quite frankly, the stress of such a thing tired him out immensely. So much in fact that his mind couldn’t deal with the stress. Despite the fact that the two were seated on nothing, Ibara slipped backwards and his head hit the floor, he blacked out immediately with only a few groans as a parting gift.

    "Guh.. nuh.."

Ibara’s vision clouded and went black. It was only familiarity that brought him back again. His eyes flashed open and momentarily, a white haze masked his vision. Where was he? After that cloud faded, he noticed rocky walls that raised to a never-ending spire, only to be obstructed by the blue sky above. The heat was immense and the rock-formations jagged. He was inside a volcano, not any volcano but the King of the Fire Dragon’s volcano but more importantly; it was home.

Ibara couldn’t ascertain why the hell he was here nor why the massive dragon himself now stood overlooming his tiny little body. Hold on a second, tiny little body? Ibara had not only gone back in time, but his body had taken quite the blow as well. He’d reverted to an age where he’d actually resided in this home. Was he in a flashback? Had he gone back in time within his momentary lapse of concentration? Igneel spoke out while Ibara glanced down at himself.

”So you're finally ready, Ibara? Ready to return to Sabertooth, a guild you once called your home. I've taught you all I can for the most part, it's up to you to progress your abilities further, to an extent where you may even surpass me one day. Know this, Ibara. You weren't here so you could be granted some magical power to impress your comrades upon your return. You're here because you're the embodiment of my will. You're my student, and you alone shall continue my legacy for as long as you shall live. I consider you the closest of my friends, little dragon. Now.. my son.. go.. go. Utilise the will of fire to the fullest of it's extent and shine forever."

This wasn’t just any moment in Ibara’s life. It was Igneel’s last words to Ibara before he’d disappeared. They were so pitch-perfect in the back of his mind but why revert to this very moment in time. In reality, a teardrop glistened on Ibara’s cheek, that epitome of Ibara’s time with Igneel, the Fire Dragon’s first actual sign of compassion towards him, his last too. But why now? Why were these memories here? As quick as they’d come, they faded away again. Ibara switched back to cold reality and opened his eyes once more.

    "…"

    so i'll find
    what lies beneath

    @SHOE
    hope it
    was okay!

Instead of receiving some sort of reply to what she had just blurted out, shoulders tensed to the loud bang that rung out within the cavern, large irises of a pinkish hue faltering to the figure that lay flat on his back, unconscious.

Did he just? — blinking briefly to the reality of what had just occurred, her figure jumped forward, scrambling to the other side of the nest of flames, at which Red lay almost peacefully against the icy floor of Snowfall's many hidden hollows. "H-Hey!" knees lowered to the side of his body, about to begin the motion of shaking him awake, before she noticed a small bead of light that reflected against the flames behind them. A tear — more than obvious — tumbled down the side of his face as she watched him with a bit of surprise, her gloved hands lowering back to her lap.

"You... what are you dreaming about so suddenly." her question was left to settle against the lonely canopy of mountain stone, the cracking sound of wood succumbing to the grasp of fire, accompanied the silence that washed over them both. Her gentle yet, fixed gaze loomed over the young human as he dreamt so soundly about something that appeared so wistful. From a closer perspective, she hadn't noticed how truly vibrant and crimson the locks on his crown were. It was a beautiful colour — the colour of fire and blood. Symbolizing many things, but, more commonly, power and love. Anna recalled that the humans of her child-hood, often worshipped or feared sorcerers that had red-hair, either that, or it was often sold to give power to wizards and witches.

By the time she had grown old enough, to venture further into the civilization of homo-sapiens, most of those that bore crimson locks, had vanished as quickly as the dragons. Even if one was spotted, nobody paid much attention to them like they had before. It was simply a myth, just like the so-called fairies or unicorns that had appeared in the most earliest of story books.

A single hand reached towards the alluring ruby hair, halting midway as the sound of an awakening stirred across his lurching features, observing the two diverse toned eyes as they fluttered open. Leaning over, her face hovering over his own, she was once again unaware of personal space as her nose settled nearly inches away from his. "Hey, you feeling okay? You scared me there when you just collapsed like that!" it wouldn't be all to surprising if he ended up accidentally smacking his head into her own. Returning to reality with a sudden face in view — quite close might I add — was of course, a bit startling.

Yet, no matter how much it happened, or how much she went through. The young dragon, would never learn. It would forever be an endless cycle with her. Those that believed the mythical reptiles held great power and were extremely intelligent, were partially correct. After all, Anna should've been behaving like an adult by now! If her people had still been around, they would've scolded her constantly for her immaturity.

    a dragon's tale: unexalted fear
    "…!!"

A careering head followed by the uplift of a lurching body after being rudimentarily awakened by a rather bewildered girl caused the young dragon's head to smack straight on to his companion's. Their foreheads collided and the sound rang out through the cavern, going so far as to make stalactites tremble while icicles shook and crashed to the ground. Rather comically, a massive red lump ascended from Ibara's skin indicating where his head had marked Anna's. His grimace was undeniable and he rubbed his head vigorously, tempted to knock himself out once more as the force of the blow was nigh on concussive. However, he remained seated with no will to stand, placing a hand on Anna's shoulder and pushing her in an angsty kind of way. Everytime she drew near, it usually lead to some sort of pain being inflicted on the young dragon -- he wouldn't take the risk for a third, if not a fourth time.

"How long was I out for?"

Ibara questioned himself, a confused gaze diverted over the remnants of the icy cavern that hadn't been subjected to the tremulous waves caused by the connection between the two rather mischevious' wizards' foreheads. "…and why did it even happen?", a question fairly put. Why had Ibara passed out at that point and why was he subjected to such a painful memory? Could it somehow link to Anna? Had Igneel tried to withdraw a cryptic message from the depths of his mind. Memories could only be utilised so much and this was an image that Ibara couldn't decode. He projected his thoughts a loud in the hopes that Anna could somehow tack onto what he was saying -- in hopes that she had more of an idea about this than he did. He pondered about telling her what had transpired within his mind but decided against it. He wasn't ready for that; this was a memory that he hadn't even disclosed to the closest of his friends -- let alone someone he had barely met before.

Ibara glanced around him again; allowing silence to flood the space between the two of them. There was no awkward tension, just the faint subtle confusion that had lingered there before. With that single glance, he identified several things. The setting sun seen through the mouth of the cave; it was getting dark and fast, how long had he been on this island? He'd set out from Sabertooth in the early hours of the morning. Darkness, around this time of year, only set in the late periods of the night. If daylight operated the same on this island as it did in Earthland, then Ibara predicted he was here for over sixteen hours. An image that bewildered the young dragon and brought yet more food for thought.

"We won't be able to survive the night if we stay here. Although warmth isn't a problem, I imagine that vulcan had friends. If we get surrounded while we're sleeping, there's no chance that we'll be able to defend ourselves. You may live here but I don't. Do you have any idea as to how I can get off this island?"

Ibara's gaze was inquisitive and lacked the instinctive worry that most people would adopt in similar sort've situations. The young dragon didn't forget the adaptability of his childhood, he was using to surviving on the bare minimum; this was only reliving those memories. Besides, he enjoyed adventure and this in itself was an adventure. He wouldn't let himself think otherwise, it wasn't in his nature. He'd find some way out of this. He had too.

    @SHOE

    was okay!

Smack! Before the lingering figure had any time to react, the harsh solidity of another skull crashed abruptly into her own. From knees to rear, the world convoluted unnaturally to the harsh pain that throbbed at her now marred forehead, a single hand grounded into the crisp floor as the other hesitantly extended up to trace the bruised skin. A struggling frown briefly crossed her features, though, it didn't take long for the sense of gravity to balance itself out as Ibara's sudden touch startled her.

"Wh-What?" large captivating pools studied his befuddled expression, the single hand kneaded against the crown of her head finding its way back by her side as she managed to smile slightly, "I wish I could tell you, though, unfortunately I'm just not capable of such a feat." knees were brought to her chest, settled casually across from Red as she continued to speak, "I'm glad you're alright though! When you suddenly collapsed like that you gave me quite the fright!" laughter swept past her lips, echoing out and towards the mouth of the cavern.

At the sound of this light-hearted action, came a slow and calming silence, one that had been accompanied with the crackling of ember and the dancing light of flames. Anna rested her swollen forehead into the crack of her folded arms, at ease enough with the warmth of fire, and company of a stranger to nearly doze off. Though, the son of Igneel was not finished speaking just yet. Compared to her own thoughts, what he spoke of was a far more obvious reality than what she had previously expected to be.

Standing up abruptly, the blondette dusted herself off, deep coral irises peering towards the fire that was nearly reaching its limit. Her senses were harshly cut off in this climate. If the vulcans did indeed find them, it would be too late. "I... can get you off of this island, just follow me." she stated, though, there didn't seem to be much excitement toned within her voice — for a moment it was actually quite... sad. The expression remained hidden through her golden locks, back faced Red as she started towards the bitter outside.

    RISE
"With fire in our bellies and the sun in our soul!"
Ibara's hand too nestled against the crown of his head upon coming into contact with the woman whom had recently delivered the absolutely astonishing news that her people weren't in fact humans but dragons. The mere thought of such a factor brought a wild range of emotions into the young dragon's head all at once, flustering him with exasperation and stunning his very organs into submission. He didn't know what to say or do at the time but luckily his very recent collapse had fixed his bewilderment and he gazed at the flames infront of him. Funnily enough, flames seemed to be the only thing that could truly calm him down in one of these moods. The way that they majestically moved yet they held such a dangerous aura about them. It was so captivatingly deceiving and Ibara revelled in the notion that he could never be harmed by them.

His questions from earlier haunted his mind. Why he went unconscious in the first place, how long he was subdued into such a state for and how exactly were they to escape this island but all that had faded into the freezing winds, as if the literal idea themselves had thawed over and shattered in little fragmented pieces. His eyes remained trained on the flames although his enhanced senses could pick up Anna's movement from the corner of his eye. Her turning to go and she spoke of her knowledge; a way to get off this island if she'd allow him to follow but Ibara didn't instinctively move to the voice, not in the way that was to be expected anyway.

    "Hang on a second."

Ibara's hand shot out at the speed of lightning but his grasp was gentle as his hand enclosed over hers. A small tug, the slight of exertion of force was felt, a pulling motion that was an attempt to get Anna to sit back down next to Ibara. His eyes finally diverted away from the flames but strangely, fire still blazed in his eyes as if they were there by natural causes, as if the red pools of flames were the very organs themselves. He opened his mouth again to speak.

"Next time I act like that, tell me to shut up. I'm sorry for earlier, I didn't mean it that way at all. It won't be dark for another few hours which means you have time to tell me your story. Why I'd never think to inquire about your home is beyond me. Dragons are my life, a dragon raised me and made me who I am today. I want to know how and why they made you who you are today. So please... Anna. Sit down."

Ibara's hand remained clapsed over Anna's but his head turned away from her as if he couldn't live up to making eye contact while disclosing such emotional words that usually weren't heard from the fiery dragon slayer. Instead, he used his remaining free hand to cup it over his mouth in order to set a direct course of the flames that now escaped from the depths of his throat. The inferno emerged from the open orifice in a red, sleek and thin stream onto the dying fire. It blazed up again and illuminated the darkening, freezing cave. As the flames began to crackle, he released Anna's hand and patted the ice gently opposite him; a gesture.

    super long post
    at you

Booted feet gestured against the rugged floor of the hollow, a whining fold of wind pressing against the mountainside as the trees stirred unexpectedly to the familiar touch. There was a storm approaching, massed in gentle flakes of snow that twisted and unraveled in the harsh flow of a wintry breeze. Its scent was creeping towards her nose, mundane with such weather that it almost reminded her who she was. Well, she knew who she was. The glint of green that settled at the base of a slender neck signified as an evident reminder. Mer luck rested along the fact, that very few knew of such an item anymore. Earth-land had grown bare of its fellow dragons, humans flooding the world into a much more peaceful civilization. No one had to hide anymore. Though, where had the so called monsters gone? Those that were mistaken as savage by the sins of their brothers and sisters. It was almost as if they had never existed in the first place.

A force jerked the moving figure into a halt, the warmth that locked firmly around her hand prompting the realization of how cold she actually was. There was a durability when it came to the harsh environment of any place, yet, it could never match the one whom reckoned with fire. For a moment, she could only focus on the comfort the emanated from a simple hold, gradually peering towards the red that glowed blazingly against a light as similar to his own. There was a fire in those eyes of his, a gentle warmth that could in one moment, ignite everything to ashes, and in the next, bring an ease to the icy climate that settled around them. Anna could vividly remember the first time she lay witness to the fierceness of flames — it was as if her heart itself had been set on fire. Even now, for some reason, that feeling forged achingly within her chest.

"Psh." signature grin reappeared across her features, lighting up like the moon within the dark, "Why would I silence you when you've done nothing wrong? It's reasonable you'd want to get off this island — I mean, this one dislikes the cold as much as you." the endeavour to make eye-contact, was shunned with the supposed bashfulness that came with holding a hand, though, it was noticeable within the tone of voice that he was determined to speak with her. Certainly if another switched places with the blonde, they wouldn't have been able to fathom Red's fiery, yet, gentle demeanour. After all, it was similar to her own being. Anna didn't even understand herself sometimes. It would've startled her, if someone else did. "Alright!" lowering figure dropped aside the other, as if slightly restless to continue on speaking. The crowd of charred wood and sheltered embers fluttered in specks of glitter, newly met flames heating the cavern in a refreshing heat.

"Well... where do I start?" some truth could be told, though, at the same time, lies must've been laced within her story. The eyes that watched her — it would only be painful if that expression changed to the realization of what she truly was. "For as long as I can remember, I've always been around dragons. My family... they were the most kindest and gentlest of the dragons out there. All they wanted was nothing more than peace, though, they struggled to try and befriend human-kind. They were hurt horribly, and betrayed constantly and used for their powers. My family never taught me how to use their powers, because they were always afraid I too would be used because of it..." velvety laughter swept past her lips, memories flooding through her mind like a streaming river, "...Always so protective. As a child I found that so annoying, but now, I only wish I had that back... They were always hiding in the forest, watching over me, scolding me and teaching me." a smile itched onto the corners of her mouth, though, it was faintly traced with sadness, "And then one day... they were no longer there. They just... vanished." staring into the fire, she continued on, "I search for them... everyday. Even if I've already been here or there, I'll circle this world over and over again. Until I can finally see them one last time." and then the smile returned again, gaze shifting towards the Red that settled beside her, "I must have been lonely, right? Is that what you're thinking?... Yeah... But even if I was sad, or all alone, I'd remember them telling me, not to waste my time being upset, but, rather smiling instead... so... thats exactly what I did!" Anna grinned childishly as she spoke, despite the memories that had passed, there was company in this chilling place.

    a dragon's tale: unexalted fear
    RISE
"With fire in our bellies and the sun in our soul!"
Ibara sat there, mesmerised by the flames as well as the words occupying the woman who sat next to him. Her history was fascinating. To be raised by dragons, not one, but many. She lived in a time where they roamed the earth freely, the kings of their own domains. He took turns to exasperate, laugh and simply live in the silence as Anna continued to progress through her story. She wouldn't stop and her eyes captured the beauty of her tale. This was clearly a very sentimental topic to her, shown by the mesmerality of her wording. As the tale came to a close, Ibara noticed that she laughed childishly and he frowned. His eyes turned away from the warming flames to look at her directly, assuming she was looking back.

"You know.. Sometimes it's okay to be sad. It's not a waste of time. It's a way of remembering them. Even if they're gone now, being happy about it all the time will eventually lead to forgetfulness. Whallowing in their memory will lead to sadness but it will maintain their memory."

The tips of Ibara's fingers began to illuminate as his eyes dragged back to the fire again. A thought slowly drifted into his mind. Something that might please Anna. The young dragon wasn't used to pleasing people but this girl seemed special to him for one reason or another. Darkness had began to set upon the cave, shadows reaching the crevices that the illuminating dragon's inferno could not reach. Ibara shivered for a moment before extending the torching finger towards the flames in an artistic motion filled with fluidity.

    "Besides... They're never really gone."

Ibara placed a finger on Anna's heart as he did so while the other began to trace the sides of the flames. The scorching waves began to turn on eachother, slowly succumbing to the manipulation of the young dragon. Shapes began to form out of the flames, rising into the air where they began to take a structure. Dragons. Forming out of the flames themselves began flying around the cave, illuminating the darkness and filling the dark cave with a brilliant light and the reflective shadows of dragons, mighty and powerful with beating wings.

"You just have to look carefully and you'll find them. I know you will."

Ibara blushed slightly as he removed his finger from Anna's heart. However, he continued to make shapes within the flames, bringing another finger to manipulate yet another structure that began to take form out of the inferno. It rose into the air and took a more humanoid shape than the rest. A little girl, similar to Anna in stature but resembled a much younger version. Her mouth moved up and down as if she were laughing slightly while the fiery dragons swirled around her, leaving trails of smoke and sparks in their wake. The scene was beautiful and Ibara couldn't help but feel good about it. If he couldn't remember his own father in due time, he'd help Anna remember her home.

The cheerful facade softened to the words that slipped past Red's lips with such ease, it seemed as though he had recited this to himself a thousand times. His tone was laced with a warmth as gentle as the fire that danced before them both - genuine and most surely true. Compared to his demeanour from before, something about him had changed entirely. There was a wonder, that if she had never mentioned dragons in the first place, that he would've treated her differently. That his words would be bitter and venomous, throwing spite at an individual who couldn't have ever understood how he felt.

But, she did understand it. That lonely feeling. Wondering painfully through the silence of their empty spaces, if they would ever return. Sometimes, Anna had felt as if they were watching her somewhere within the world. She may have acted strong, and smiled through all of it. But that didn't mean it never hurt. In-fact... it really hurt. Like a hole had been pierced into her heart, stolen away and never to be found again. No matter how much she clawed at the walls of her chest, or found distractions in something else, that feeling would always remind her what she had lost long ago. Or was it that long ago? In all honesty, she couldn't tell anymore. Often times, it felt like it had only been yesterday since she last saw them all.

The pools of a pinkish-red faltered from the finger that rested over her heart, to the other that traced a work of art into the cavern before them both. It was as if the memories she had yearned for once more, leaked out from the tips of his fingers, eyes wavering to the figures of dragons that formed in the light of flames and the little girl - herself - that danced with them. She could see it vividly, their voices echoing along with her laughter as a child, and without realizing, tears started to form within her eyes. The wet substance reached the surface of her cheeks, oblivious to the idea of crying that for a moment she didn't know what was falling from them. A droplet collided against the cool floor, another smile reaching her lips as she continued to admire the scene before her.

"You too..." with a pause, she wiped away at the dew that had seeped out by the corner of her eyes, now reddened slightly after so long of just holding it in, "I know this one said it before. But, you will find him, I know you will." referring to Igneel, gloved hands extended towards one of his own, carefully taking it as if the son of the King of all Fire Dragons was something to be treated carefully. "Even if you think it may be impossible, or you have a doubt in your mind that he's gone... I'll be there to help you through it all." grinning towards him, Anna faced the fire once again, darkness washing out through the corners of the mountainside hollow - evening flooding the wintry island into an expanse of obscurity. Even the vulcans weren't considering their hunt tonight.

    a dragon's tale: unexalted fear
    RISE
"With fire in our bellies and the sun in our soul!"
That slight touch, the connection of warmth between them slowly passed through eachothers' orifices after their hands met on the top of the log on which they sat. Ibara couldn't help but allow that sensation travel up his arm and into his cheeks; turning them a discolouring red at the thought of their unprecedented touch in such an intimate fashion. The young dragon attempted to imbue himself with newfound courage, to resist his embarassment as an automated response to otherwordly human touch but he simply could not. A few more seconds passed and Ibara shot to his feet and any onlooker could've sworn to have seen flames shoot from Ibara to boost himself to his feet once again.

    "Yeah.. Yeah... Anyway.."

Ibara was on his feet again, one hand held behind his head scratching his red locks thoughtfully while the other pointed towards the cave entrance where the sun had already set and the moon had risen; allowing an intense coldness to flood through the mouth of the cave and blast the young dragon with a contrasting temperature that rivalled his body's heat. The literal clash of cold vs hot could be seen as steam was seen emanating from Ibara's figure while he stood in the sub-zero temperatures that the night had brought. He opened his mouth, it was clear they couldn't sleep here, not without supplies. The young dragon's supplies had been lost on his short and sweet transference onto the island.

"We're not going to survive the night. Not in this weather."

A deluge of snow fell from the roof of the cave, slapping a small spherical open spot next to Ibara's feet causing him to jump several metres in the air before landing in the very fire in which he created, dropping the temperature of the cave several degrees lower than it already was. He opened his mouth to scream in frustration but realised that they were not the only inhabitants of this island as he had learned from his encounter from the behemoth-like vulcan from earlier. He'd have to be logical if he wanted to escape this predicament in one piece. It's a shame logic wasn't in his vocabulary.

"I suggest we go beat up a load of vulcans; tie their bodies together and then use them as a raft to sail to the nearest landform. Anything has to be warmer than this place."

The idea was a stretch but theoretically, it would work. Taking into consideration the floatation provided by an unconscious body, amassing several of them to utilise as a floatation device would work. Tying the vulcans together in the first place however; that would prove to be a much more difficult task.

    "So? What do you think?"

Ibara's eyes were wide with exasperation, bags finding their ways to the shadows located underneath the pools of red and yellow. Without leaving time to think about it however, those widened eyed glances turned away from Anna who now sat behind the exhausted source of long-forgotten flame. The young dragon turned to the mouth of the cave and it only took Anna a moment to blink before he was gone. Footsteps lined its mouth and they made direct beeline down the hill. There was nothing to do about it. The fiery dragon slayer was impulsive and wouldn't be stopped. Anna had an ultimatum. To join in this crazy escapade or to remain in the mouth of the cave. Besides, being an inhabitant of this island probably left her to exposed to a lot more instinctive survivalistic techniques than Ibara's own so staying in the cave probably seemed like a much more rational idea to her. For the young dragon however, this was his last hope. Besides, he hated the cold.
