- Over a millennia ago, a famous sword maker known as Ailhbhe Luachair was recruited by the monarch of a kingdom that existed long ago to create him the perfect swords to not only signify his reign as king. However Ailbhe could not think of ways to forge swords that fit such orders. He had gathered the metal of 6 heroes and tried to meld them with the essence of the five elements, Metal of the earth,Fire from the forge, Wind for the bellows,Water for quenching and Spirit of the swordsmith, however for one reason or another he had failed and had become extremely frustrated and desperate, his wife Ciara Luachair, upon seeing this situation, decided to gamble her own life. The sacrificing of human lives is absolutely necessary in order to forge items reaching the realm of Gods, so Ciara hurled herself into the furnace in front of the husband she loved and used her own life to provide the missing spirit needed to make the swords and with her own spirit added, the Essence of Five Mountains and the Metal of Six Heroes melded completely and Ailhbe was able to forge not one but the two swords in grief. The swords that were the result of his crafting were two identically shaped one handed butterfly war blades, particularly effective for blocking and defensive sword fights. Both blades 25 inches long with a blade length of 18 inches and 4mm thick. He named the sword that represented Yang, Ailbhe after himself. This sword was black in color with a hexagonal pattern etched into the blade. The Guard and pommel was bronze in color and had a black grip wrapped around the handle Between where the blade and guard met was a semi circular cut out with a black and white swirl inside a complete circle forming a Yin Yang symbol with the white extending up the blade.He name the twin sword Ciara after his beloved whose sacrifice was the reason that the smithing was a success. This sword was white in color but had a haze to it, and like Ailbhe it had a bronze guard and pommel with a black grip. This sword also had the Yin Yang symbol in the identical spot that Aibhe does but instead of the white extending up the blade it is the black that is. Before it was time to present them to the king, Ailhbe hid the swords in a vault under the forge and gave the king different weapons altogether. The king was furious upon discovering the deception, and the king had him killed. After over two thousand years, the swords were eventually discovered by the order of the Welsh Dragon and merely held on display. In the years since their discovery many men have attempted to wield these fine blades in order to accomplish their ambitions or win a great battle but were unable to successfully wield them together or apart and would by unknown means would die from the attempt. However a young Aemon was obsessed with these swords not for the power these swords could contain but for their unequal craftsmanship but was forbidden to use them. Despite this he snuck in and stole the weapons and not only was he able to use them, the misfortune surrounding these blades didn’t befall on him and thus after years the swords finally had found someone worthy of wielding them. In order for the weapons to be able to do full damage both must be drawn at the same time.
Strengths:
- The shortness of the blades make defensive stances extremely practical in battle..
- With proper usage, the user can utilize designated speed strikes more effectively.
Weaknesses:
- Is comparably shorter than most swords so to land a strike the user must be in close risking being hit himself.
- While the swords are well crafted they can’t reach full potential unless both are used at the same time.
- Like any other swords, long range attacks can be problematic.
