Reunited [Dearly Departed|Solo]

“You will make it! I am not going to let you die like this, there has to be a cure there has to be!” Aether said, tears streaming from his eye and behind his mask, his fist clenching the tattered remains of her clothing. “Don’t worry Aether, we’ll see each other again someday. Maybe even In another life-” she spoke softly before coughing up blood. “Who knows, I might be cursed to live in between life and death and become a ghost.” Smiling up at her cherished friend with her final breath she whispered to him. “I will watch over you until we are able to see each other again.” And with that her remaining limbs became limp as her grip on his hand loosened and fell, her head leaning up into his chest as she left her mortality behind to enter a new realm, hopefully one better than whatever this one was.

Aether held her lifeless body close for a few moments before heeding the warning she gave him just moments before and laying her down on the floor before him. Taking one last look before turning away and walking out of the hidden door, the only sounds that filled his ears were those of his footsteps on stone. It would take a few moments before the body would return back to life and he would have to protect himself from the freshly turned corpse, from which he assumed would be stronger than the other corpses that he had taken out earlier as they had been left there for quite some time, enough time for them to rot. As he left the house his footsteps became muffled by the bloodstained grass and dirt as he once more took in his surroundings. Corpses littered the ground, both human and animal alike along with blood painting the town red. It was clear to him that this was some sort of experiment, as Aether being quite the scientific person himself, could see that this would be the best place to test out these sorts of things in a controlled environment.

After taking in his surroundings again he turned to face the door and ready himself for the corpse of his once cherished friend to come stumbling out, and so it did. First came the screams, like the lungs had overfilled and had to vent the excess air, then came the sounds of violent crashing as what Aether could only assume was the body attempting to lift itself up and pulling down some medical equipment which he examined earlier. With her injuries Aether wasn’t surprised that her body would have some sort of trouble getting up, especially with that chunk out of her leg. Eventually after a few minutes it appeared at the door, her eyes a milky white and her skin 3 shades lighter than when he first found her, clearly concentrated on the one thing in a very large radius that had a pulse. After a few steps forward the body began to rush towards him with a speed that would match the rabbit he had fought earlier, but he himself was fast enough to quickly evade its attempts to grapple onto him, instead using what he had learned whilst studying various fighting techniques upon joining black rose. He grabbed her wrist and collar of her tattered shirt, keeping enough distance from her mouth to not allow her to bite down on him and using the speed, weight and power that the now not-so-lifeless body had used to pull it over his shoulder, twisting as he did so and slamming the body into the ground before placing his foot firmly on its chest just below the collar bone and keeping its arm pinned beneath one of his trendrils. Leaning down and placing pressure on its chest he extended the palms of his hands towards her head, letting them float just out of reach from its vicious bite. “Blast” he whispered, two portals seemingly forming on either side of her head just between her head and his palms before exploding, sending a rupturing blast that concentrated itself between his palms, ultimately incinerating her head. With the deed done Aether set his sights back home to spend the remaining weeks he had searching for the one who had caused this mess.
