Wild Horses [Blood Bird] Empty Wild Horses [Blood Bird]

Post by Mifune 27th August 2014, 1:07 am

A sea of clouds surrounded the beautiful island of Helicon, the sacred trial grounds of Blue Pegasus.  Through the majestic white sea, a ship erupted bearing the symbol of the guild upon its sails and the words "Queen Hera" painted upon its Hull.  With the White Wizard at its helm, it made its heading for the mystical isle in the sky.  On deck was Adrien Fionn, a young and ambitious mage who hoped that today would be the day Blue Pegasus would recognized him as a B-Rank mage.  Shuhei took it upon himself to test the rookie, for reasons that were unclear to the rest of the guild...  He seemed unusually eager to take him to Helicon himself, but that's beside the point.  Quickly they circled the island, to give the rookie a good first look at the isle, where the mystical fountain Hippocrene resided.  As a result of the fountains power, many mythical species thrived on the island as well as other magical anomalies.  Near the base of the mountain, Shuhei anchored the Queen Hera and reached toward a lever next to the helm and upon pulling it a rope ladder dropped from the side of the ship so that the rookie mage could get down.  Shuhei however vanished in a flash of light, and reappeared on the island below the ship.  "Hurry up!"  He shouted as he strode eagerly in to the forest.

The forest consisted mostly of old oak and willow trees which made for dense overhead, shading the area quite nicely.  He'd wait for Adrien to catch up, and continue to lead him deeper in to the woods, until they began to hear the sound of stampeding in the distance and the unnerving derranged sound of wild, ferocious horses mixed with the sound of angry savage men.  Shuhei held up his hand, signaling Adrien to stop.  "We'll wait here a moment..."  Shuhei whispered so that whatever it was ahead of them could not sense their presence.  After a few moments the sound faded and soon disappeared entirely in to the forest.  "Well I think this is far enough!"  He said loudly, turning to face Aiden.  "So how are you two feeling today?"

Post by Blood Bird 27th August 2014, 4:20 pm

[quote="Blood Bird"]Adrien and Drac were heading for Mount Helicon upon guild's ship known as "Queen Hera", it was the island itself that had caught Adrien's attention as he wondered why their guild master Shuhei the "White Wizard" had taken it upon himself to test himself and Rin. As the "Queen Hera" circled around the island once which he noticed was covered in forests and mountains, Mater Shuhei, redirected the ship towards the base of the mountain island and anchored it there. He then pulled a lever at the helm of the ship, which dropped a rope ladder down that just about reached the ground below the ship. Adrien was going to let Rin and their master climb down first but instead of Them climbing down the ladder they both seemingly teleported down, Mater Shuhei in a flash of white light, he'd disappeared and reappeared on the ground, yelling to them "Hurry up!" before striding eagerly off into the forest Adrien stood there with his usual blank expression that showed no expression for a minute roughly wondering if his new guild master that he wasn't able to teleport himself to the ground with the click of his heels, Drac being in his default form which was a giant black bat with golden eyes that was three times the size of any exceed flew down from the crow's nest of the ship "So are you going to stand around looking like an idiot all day or are you going to go down there and do your exam?" Drac asked laughing at Adrien who responded without looking at the puca "I was waiting for you, we are partners after all."
"I suppose that makes since knowing how you are...do you want a lift down?"
"No reserve your strength, we are going to need to give all we have if we are going to past." with that said Adrien began to work his way down the ladder, once on the ground Drac had shifted himself into the smaller version of his default form and perched himself on Adrien's shoulder "Don't worry Adrien we are going to be fine, this is going to be a walk in the park for a demi-lightning demon and a puca."
"Stop calling me what I am not Drac, I'm not a demon...I am sick and have yet to find a cure is all."
"Keep telling yourself that Adrien, the more problems you are going to face when you fully awaken." the talking stopped as they soon caught up with guild master Shuhei from following their tracks, once he was beside them he could hear the sound of hoofs trotting on the ground and crazy men ahead of them. Master Shuhei, held his hand up to signal them to stop, and so Adrien froze in place like a deer in a flood light but showed no emotion unlike the frightened deer would. "We'll wait here a moment..." the sound of what he heard earlier had completely disappeared and whatever that was making it 'Most likely horses,' he thought had went deeper into the forest. "Well I think this is far enough!" He said loudly, turning around to the two of them "So how are you two feeling today?" Adrien looked at his guild master as his face returned to his normal blank expression that made him seem cold hearted and emotion less ".......I am fine Guild Master Shuhei.....though curious......" was all he said to respond to Shuhei's question, Drac on the other hand made bat chirps which Adrien rolled his eyes at knowing Drac was trying to play a joke on Shuhei.

Shuhei smiled, he couldn't sense a trace of fear in Adrien.  Confident, though foolish.  What waited ahead of him was far beyond what any C-Rank mage could handle, even a B-Rank mage would be in over his head dealing with what rampaged ahead of them, which is why this made the perfect test.  A challenge to discover the young mages mental capacity.  "Curiosity can get you in to trouble, but that's how most adventures begin.  Remember that."  Shuhei crossed his arms.  "What we heard just now, were the centaur of the Island.  They police the wildlife here and help to maintain peace within the forests of Helicon.  They're fierce warriors, but far from savages.  Although..."  Shuhei scratched the back of his head and chuckled a little bit.  "It seems that somehow,"  Shuhei coughed. "They've gotten their hands on a few barrels of strong wine.  Unbeknownst to that certain someone, Centaur really can't hold their liquor... They've all gone in to quite a frenzy, neglecting their duties and running wild, wreaking havoc on the Island instead of maintaining order..."  Shuhei pointed towards the mountain.  "Somewhere near the base of the mountain is the Centaur Cave where the Wine is kept.  Your job is to retrieve my the wine, or destroy it and leave the Centaur to sober up.  Though it would be better if you didn't waste it...  It's good stuff.  He coughed again.  "So I've heard..."  Shuhei began to make his way back to the ship, passing around Adrien.  Before getting too far away he turned.  "Oh, and don't kill any of the centaur!  They're essential to the Island.  Good luck!"  With that, Shuhei disappeared in to the trees, leaving Adrien alone in the forest, with a herd of rampaging centaur.

    Mission Parameters:

    • Retrieve Shuhei's the wine, or destroy it. Bonus points for bringing it back.

    • Centaurs are roughly the strength of a B-Rank mage, so they're no pushovers and there are a lot of them.  Direct confrontation is not advised.

    • Do not kill the centaurs or any other wildlife you may run in to.

    • The Centaurs will be guarding the wine quite heavily, but also drinking it.

    • Make it interesting!

Adrien listen to Shuhei as he smiled "Curiosity can get you in to trouble, but that's how most adventures begin.  Remember that."  Shuhei crossed his arms "Duely noted Master Kisaragi." Adrien responded looking at his guild master blankly, he as fool hardy enough to let his curiosity get the better of him and cause him to become reckless. "What we heard just now, were the centaur of the Island.  They police the wildlife here and help to maintain peace within the forests of Helicon.  They're fierce warriors, but far from savages.  Although..."  Shuhei explained before he scratched the back of his head and chuckled a little bit.  "It seems that somehow,"  he coughed which caused Adrien to raise an eyebrow. "They've gotten their hands on a few barrels of strong wine.  Unbeknownst to that certain someone, Centaur really can't hold their liquor... They've all gone in to quite a frenzy, neglecting their duties and running wild, wreaking havoc on the Island instead of maintaining order..."
Shuhei said pointed towards the mountain. "Somewhere near the base of the mountain is the Centaur Cave where the Wine is kept.  Your job is to retrieve my the wine, or destroy it and leave the Centaur to sober up.  Though it would be better if you didn't waste it...  It's good stuff.  He coughed again causing Adrien to sigh and a bead of sweat to run down Drac's face.  "So I've heard..."  Shuhei then walked around passing Adrien which left him to assume that his guild master was returning to the ship but before getting too far away he turned back Adrien.  "Oh, and don't kill any of the centaur!  They're essential to the Island.  Good luck!"  and with that said his guild master disappeared in to the trees, leaving Adrien alone in the forest, with a herd of rampaging centaur which could be heard off in the distance. "Okay let me get this straight so our exam is to get your guild master's wine back from a bunch of half horse hippies?" Drac began to complain Adrien didn't even glance as Drac as he jumped up onto a tree branch "Seems that way....you speak as if you met centaurs before..."
"Let's just say I ran into a few back in Seven before I met you and they weren't the kindest of people...but karma quickly caught up with them." Drac snickered as he took off Adrien's shoulder to fly along next to him as Adrien ran along the tree branches which used to be a past time of his when he was a child, as he looked below looking for tracks. "You brought them misfortune didn't you."
"You kids are too darn smart these days."
"Would you be able to smell them? Pick up their scent from here?" Adrien asked as he dropped down from a tree "Adrien not all centaurs have the same scent, I would actually need to get close to them to get their scent or for you to find some tracks they left behind...maybe I was wrong about kids these days."
Adrien knelt down and pointed at some hooves tracks left in the dirt "You mean tracks like those?"

As Adrien knelt down and point at some hooves tracks left in the dirt Drac scowled letting out a low growl or his...Adrien wasn't quite sure why though "You really want me to put my nose in the dirt don't you?" Drac growled at Adrien as he landed on the ground, who looked confused his partner's response though to any on lookers they wouldn't see any change in Adrien's face "Why are you getting so upset?
    "Have you ever smelled dirt?"
"Yes it smells like dirt. I was born in Seven remember? All of it smells the same to me."
"Well you're wrong, they all smell different but that's not the point."
"Then what is the point, I'd rather know then to hear you complaining."
"THE POINT IS THAT IT IS FULL OF BUGS AND WHEN I SNIFF THE DIRT THEY CAN GET UP INTO MY NOSTRILS!!!"."
Adrien looked at Drac with a blank expression and a bead of sweat running down the side of his head "Really...a creature that can turn into basically any living thing it wants within reason...and you don't like the one in a hundred chance an ant could climb up your nose?"
"Well why don't you do it then huh?" the puca began to yell at his master who sighed as if talking to a kid  "I can't for two reasons the first being I am a blood mould mage, it wouldn't be smart for me to handle it while on a mission as it could leave me with even more sicknesses,"
"You're not sick, unless being in denial is a disease."
"Then secondly I don't have as strong a sense of smell like you do."
"You're not sick, unless being in denial is a disease." Drac replied under his breath only to have a death glare shot at him by Adrien, "Alright fine but I am eating as much fruit as I want when this over and you can't say sh*t about it!"
"Fine, it's not as like I cared enough to have stopped you before." Drac scowled at Adrien's comment and began to sniff the hoof print tracks and after a few minutes he stood up straight as a bat on it's hind legs could stand "Yep these are the tracks of the centaur we are after."
    "Are you positive?"
"Well if you can think of anything else in this forest that would smell like cheap wine, horse sweat and male human pheromones then please correct me.....*sneezes*." As Drac sneezed a few bugs and clumps of dirt flew out of his nose. "That's gross..."
"I F**KING TOLD YOU, HUMAN NOW BOW DOWN TO ME AND GIVE ME YOUR SOUL ASS THE ALTIMATE FORM OF MISFORTUNE!" Upon hearing this Adrien scratched Drac behind his eyes causing Drac to begin chirping and twitching before Drac shook his head to get away from Adrien's hand "Stop that!" Adrien gave the puca a friendly smirk "You enjoy it, but if you don't want me to do it again then I suggest you keep Doom under control and lead the way. Drac began to mumbled under his breath as he took off leading Adrien to where the centaurs were. It took about five minutes before they began to hear the same sound of hoofs trotting on the ground and crazy men ahead of them from earlier. From there the two of them concealed their movements by moving along the shaded lower branches of the trees so they wouldn't be seen as they surveyed the area the centaurs were occupying.

From there vantage point they could see the centaurs were galloping around like the drunk mad men...horses...horse-man-thing they were and it seemed in there drunk mind set they decided to throw a party as the were tossing one barrel of wine back and forth between them taking turns chugging it while another two were placed on top of a large elevated flat stone they seemed to be using as a table. Adrien didn't know how many barrels of wine Shuhei had given them but there were only two left that he could save if he really want to risk their safety or there was the best of the worst...after all there can't be any gain without an equal sacrifice it took a few minutes to him to devise a plan during which he sent Drac to fly into the sky and survey there current area, once he arrived back to Adrien informing him of notable geological structures and features around them and how far they were away from the "Queen Hera". With all this knowledge a plan clicked together in his mind causing him to smirk demonically, which in turn caused Drac to sigh before speaking to Adrien in a low whisper "I am guessing you got a plan.""
    "Yes...but you won't like it...I think..."
"I do not have the choice to not take part do I?"
"Well if you want to finish this mission then yes you don't have the choice."
"Fine let's hear your plan then."
Adrien pointed to the barrels on the table "On my mark you are going to shift into a Vulcan and steal one of the two barrels on the table and then run towards to the cliff you saw, there you will break it on the ground before jumping off the cliff and shifting back to your bat form. from there you will fly back to the "Queen Hera".
"Being as drunk as they are they would leave the other barrel behind and chase completely after me, but truth be told I am just a decoy and bait...okay so what will you be doing this?"
"I'll take the other one and run back to "Queen Hera" while they are chasing you."
    "Will you be fast enough?"
"I'll be fine, now get ready."

Drac nodded as he flew over to be above the ground next to the stone table and waited for Adrien's signal, Adrien then swiped his hand signalling for Drac to move in. Drac hopped of the tree branch turning into a huge mass of black smoke which reformed into a Vulcan with pitch black fur and golden eyes twice the size a normal one. Drac grabbed one of the barrels with one hand as if he was grabbing a cup before he began to run in-between them to get their attention provoking them before running into the forest. The centaurs began to whine like horse and curse at Drac before they chased him into the forest towards the cliff. Once they were all gone he dropped from the trees and as he began to walk over to the trees he began to breath heavily as he slowly released repressed memories of the reflection he saw of himself on his last job with Rin and he soon found himself covered in electricity, he took out a small mirror Rin had given him before she went off on a job while came here. Sure enough he saw the thing that had haunted his nightmares since he a child, he looked at his own reflection seeing himself with the whites of his eye having turned pitch black, his iris' had turned crimson red and were glowing while on his head he had horns made of lightning and a tail to match. He held back tears as he walked over the barrel and picked it up and ran back towards the "Queen Hera" moving as fast as lightning thinking in his head over and over again on a constant loop "I am not a demon, I am not a hero, I am not a villain, I am just a man and I am very sick."

    ***

Drac landed on the ground with a large thud reaching the cliff, he was able to keep his lead on the centaurs because he used his tail to carry the barrel and then swung along the branches. Drac turned around to face the group as they slowly surrounded him as much as they could with a cliff to Drac's back. One of the centaurs walked up to Drac hiccupping holding out it's hand demanding for Drac to give back the wine, Drac grinned as he placed the barrel into his hand before he smashed the barrel into the ground causing wine, splinters and broken pieces of wood to fly into the centaurs as he jumped off the cliff shifted into his bat form and flying back to the "Queen Hera" demonically laughing his head off leaving behind the curses of angry drunk horse-human hybrids.

    ***

Adrien was halfway up the ladder carrying the barrel on his back after trying himself to it with a few vines from the trees when he saw Drac fly onto the deck. Soon Adrien reached the top to see Drac's face, Drac waited until Adrien was on deck and had began to pull up the rope ladder until he spoke up "OY SHUHEI, WE GOT YOUR WINE BACK!" Drac called out doing an impression of Adrien which caused Adrien to glare at the puca before he sighed as he sighed untying the barrel from his back and placing it on the ground next to him awaiting for his guild master to appear to collect the barrel of wine.

Shuhei was snoozing in the birds nest when Drac called out to him. Immediately the White Wizard woke up from his nap and peered down towards Adrien and his pet. A smile stretched across his face and a feeling of relief filled him. Now the centaur will calm the heck down and do their jobs he thought. In a flash of light he vanished and reappeared before his young subordinate with a smile. He crossed his arms and looked at him. "Fantastic! I'd have hated to see such a good vintage go to waste." He walked over to inspect the barrel. Astoundingly it was full. "Wonderful, congratulations you've passed your exam!" Shuhei exclaimed. "Now lets get this back to where it belongs eh?" The White Wizard turned around and made his way to the helm of the ship. Pulling a lever and spinning the wheel, the ship began to ascend and rotate and off they went, back to the land of Fiore where Adrien can boast about becoming a B-Rank mage.

BloodBird is now a B-Rank mage!

    Congratulations.
