Find those Puppies!

Why had she taken such a degrading job? To find puppies? Ophelia simmered down with her dressing today and had decided to wear an empire dress that stopped at her knees, thankfully since the dress wasn't tight around her legs she was able to run freely, though her heels were another story.
"Pardon." She let out a small cough as she a man's shoulder who was weeping over an empty kennel, he must have been the one that has lost his pups. "Ahem..." Ophelia raised her voice slightly. The sobbing man turned his head towards Ophelia and sniffled.
"M-My dogs..." He mumbled, he looked as though as he was a child who had lost a toy.
"Yes yes your disgusting flee ridden animals, I'm here to find them~ You're lucky you were blessed with my grace~" She flipped her hair over her shoulder and let out a defiant laugh.
The man stood up and began to explain to her how the dogs were lost in the first place, he told them how smart they were for puppies and that she shouldn't underestimate them(Which made Ophelia laugh somewhat).

After finishing his speech, he gave Ophelia the kennel and sent her off to find the puppies.

If I were a tiny feeble animal, where would I be? Ophelia began her search at the center of town, she assumed that since all animals were stupid they would be somewhere stupid where there were a bunch of people. Of course, her assumption was wrong and she ended up looking like a psychopath as she checked through bushes.
Since her plan had failed, she had decided to use a backup which appeared to be more useful since it looked like peasants loved animals.
"Pardon, miss." Ophelia stopped a woman who was walking with a basket of fruit. "Have you seen a few puppies around here? They're tiny but they aren't hard to find." She didn't know how to describe the animals, since she had never really seen them before. The man had only given her a description.
"Hm? Oh! I've seen one hanging around here somewhere, I like to give him fruit when I go shopping~" The woman placed a hand on her cheek and let out a chuckle. "Aren't you just a pretty girl~" She was just about to start going on about how she was like Ophelia when she was younger, but the young wizard managed to weasel her way out and managed to get a piece of fruit from the kind peasant.

She stayed in the center of town laying down small pieces of fruit in front of the bushes, which was a rather stupid idea, but Ophelia couldn't think of anything else. She examined each bush until she stumbled upon one that appeared to rustle every time she walked past it. Ophelia knelt down and peered in; She could see a silhouette of a small animal, and she could hear whimpering.
"Hey there little animal..." Ophelia got onto her knees and picked up the piece of fruit and extended her hand for the animal. "Come on out~" Surprisingly, Ophelia sounded gentle as she coaxed the puppy out of the bush. Soon a small body wiggled its way out, a nametag was around the pup's neck 'Dilbert' the nametag read. "Hello there." She scooped the puppy into her arms and stood up, Dilbert appeared to be fond of Ophelia. God this thing is putrid. It's too cute! Ophelia placed Dilbert into the kennel and closed the door.
Onto the next puppy.

The next puppy she hoped to be a little more compliant, though Ophelia was sadly mistaken. They were much more sneaky and hard to find than the first one, and thankfully the people in Magnolia were very helpful with showing her the ropes with giving affection to the disgusting creatures.
"You need to have treats!"
"You need to be open and friendly!"
"They need to have a lot of attention, try using toys!"
"Play with them!"
Who knew these animals were so needy? She stared down at the kennel and grunted, she would never own an animal, never!
Ophelia stopped a man walking down the street. "Pardon me, good sir. Have you seen a puppy around here? Maybe more?"
"Hm... Now that you mentioned it, I have seen a sneaky little pup wandering around the sewer grates, he doesn't seem to know where he's going, he's a cute little fellow too, haha."

Great, the disgusting little creature as decided to hang around a place Ophelia never wanted to be near; The sewers. She a glimpse of the frail creature as it pawed at the large gaps of the sewer grates. Jesus christ, was it really that stupid? She set the kennel down and ran towards the puppy as it was about to fall down through the sewer, her shoes kept her from going at full speed so she kicked them off and skidded down the street. People watched in awe as she caught the puppy before it fell through. Ophelia let out a small sigh of relief and stood up, brushing herself off. Well that was easier said than done.
The pup's tag read 'Theodore', Ophelia tossed the puppy into the kennel with Dilbert and picked the kennel back up. Two puppies down, five more to go. With her free hand, she picked up her broken shoes.

Now where would the next puppy be? Ophelia was a reck, her dress was torn from diving to catch that puppy and her feet were bare as she walked along the ground. She felt like an utter fool as she walked with her shoes in one hand and a kennel of puppies in another. Why had she taken such a disgusting job? Ophelia was about ready to scream, but she caught sight of an elderly man holding a puppy in his hands, as if he were smuggling it. Her pace quickened as she tried catching up to the man, though he was surprisingly swift for his age.
"Hey!" She called out to him, her pace increasing as she began a light jog to catch up with the man. Ophelia could hear the puppies tumbling around in the kennel.
"Hey elderly peasant! Stop yourself! I demand that you stop right now!" She yelled at him and threw her shoes at the old man, which ended up hitting him on the back and getting his attention, though he didn't appear to be upset.
"H'what?" He smacked his lips together and turned around, which gave Ophelia a good look at the puppy; It had the same color as the other two and the same breed, its tag read 'Suzu'.

"That puppy! That disgusting rat of a puppy! It's someone else's what are you doing with that?"
"This little feller? Heheh! He's mine, I don't know what you're talking about!" This old man is playing stupid, huh?
"I clearly know that that puppy is someone else's hand it over this instant!"
"Wowie, you're persistent. I'll give ya the pup, ya just gotta give me a lil' kiss~"
Was this old man joking with her? Ophelia raised her fist and swung it, her knuckles colliding with his jawline. The puppy flew out of his hands and stayed in the air for a few moments. Ophelia raised her arm and caught the puppy as it fell down. "I refuse to kiss a disgusting old pervert!" She spat on the man and put Suzu in the kennel with her other siblings.
Three down, four more to go.
Ophelia left the old man on the ground as she walked off, her shoes resting on top of his back.

The next pup was surprisingly close and it appeared as though another had tagged along, they were a rambunctious duo and they appeared to be very clever. Ophelia knew that this would end up in a chase, she watched as the two teased her by jumping over one another and showing her their wagging rumps. Ugh. She felt like they were playing games with her. Their read 'Lily' and 'Lola'.
Lily appeared the be the loyal follower of Lola since she followed behind Lola when they wandered about.

Ophelia pushed her hair behind her ears as she went up to the two to pick them up, but surprisingly then ran off, both splitting into two opposite directions. She decided to go after Lily, the more docile one. She fast walked after the puppy and was a few feet away from grabbing a hold of Lily's tiny body. Lily hadn't realized it, but Ophelia was very close behind.

Ophelia was so close, she could feel the tip of the pup's tail between her fingers and soon, her hand went under the pup's tummy and she scooped Lily into her arms, the pup squirmed and let out whines as if she were calling out for her sister, Lola, but the pup knew she was defeated and settled into her arms. She placed the frail pup into the kennel and had a small smile on her face, this job was now a lot smoother than it was earlier since there were very little puppies to retrieve now.
Four down, three more to go.

Her next target was Lola, the more energetic of the two. She turned around and went down the other path that Lola decided to go down, which was a tight alleyway. Ophelia was forced to shimmy along sideways, her stomach and back pressing against the walls. The kennel was placed at the entrance of the alleyway.

During her time in the alleyway, Ophelia had decided that she hated small creatures of any kind, even kittens. She could feel the small space get even smaller as she squeezed her way through. She could see a small ball of brown fur wiggling their way through as well. Lola. She picked up the pace, her feet sliding against the concrete as she bent down to grab the animal. Thankfully, Lola managed to comply somewhat as she pulled on the pup's tail to free her, which was slightly abusive on Ophelia's part but if she went any further she would have gotten her hand stuck.
Now, how would she get out? With the Lola in her hand, Ophelia slid out of the alleyway, ever so slowly. If she had rushed she knew there would be consequences to her actions. The moment the two go out, Ophelia sighed in relief and tossed the Lola into the kennel with the four others.
Five down, two to go.

Two more, two more puppies. Ophelia could taste victory, it was practically on the tip of her tongue. She chuckled as she walked down the street, confidently holding the kennel of five puppies. She had practically been all over Magnolia, looking for all of these puppies which is practically taking her all day, maybe even two since there were very little left.
"Pardon me." Ophelia stopped a young woman on the street. "Have you seen any puppies around?"
"Puppies? Oh my gosh, like totally! I see this super cute one that likes to take naps underneath an oak tree in the park, but when I tried to pet it, it decided to bite me. I guess he doesn't like it when you wake him up from his nap~" The girl sounded stupid, but she did give useful information to Ophelia. She thanked the woman and headed to the park to find the 6th puppy.

There she found him, the pup was resting under the tree like the young girl said. He appeared to be so peaceful as he rested there, his chest would expand every time he took in a small breath. His tag read 'Ike'. Ophelia approached the pup and grabbed a stick off of the ground, of course she had another stupid idea and this would most likely end up in failure. She used the stick to poke and prod at Ike. The pup slowly awoken from his nap and let out a yawn, he licked his lips and stared lazily at Ophelia, Ike stood up and trotted over to her. This pup seemed to be fond of Ophelia like Dilbert was and was compliant with getting into the kennel. This surprised Ophelia since the young girl stated that Ike bit her, maybe the pup didn't like the girl?
Five down, one more to go.

The last puppy was the hardest to find, Ophelia was practically everywhere at once, she searched through bushes, alleyways, people's arms, even inside stores, but what she didn't know was that the puppy she was looking for was following her around since the beginning. Ophelia walked around Magnolia with the puppy following behind her, occasionally the small critter would sit to take a rest but when Ophelia got far enough, she would stand right back up and chase after her. It was funny how Ophelia didn't notice the pup until the very end of her job.
The woman was just about to give up, her legs were weary and she was pretty sure she stepped into dog poop with her bear feet. She took a rest on the bench and set the kennel down right next to her. Just for a moment, the girl closed her eyes and let out a sigh.

The puppy jumped onto the bench and crawled onto Ophelia's lap, cooing as it did so. This action made Ophelia open her eyes and squeal with joy. She picked the puppy up and kissed it on the nose. "There you are! You little rascal, I've been looking for you everywhere!" She was so happy that she didn't realize that she kissed the dog. She kissed a dog. A dog. She kissed it.
Ophelia looked at the dog's tag, it read 'Olive' a cute name for a cute puppy, and if she were to choose favorites, it would be Olive. She placed the dog with her brothers and sisters inside the kennel. With her duty finished she stood up and began walking back to the client, he would most likely be pleased with her efforts. He better reward her greatly... Or else she would be very upset. Though she did learn a thing or two today.

When she returned with the puppies the client counted the over.
"Dilbert, Theodore, Lola, Lily, Ike, and Olive! Thank you! Thank you so much for finding my pups!" He didn't appear to care about Ophelia's appearance at the moment, he was too grateful and relieved to have had his puppies returned to him. He was about to kiss Ophelia's feet, but the girl pushed him away from her just in time.
"You're welcome. You're very welcome." It was strange, when Ophelia did a job, it always ended up with her in ripped clothes and messy hair. Before Ophelia said goodbye, she stuck her fingers through the holes of the kennel and tickled the heads of the pups, some managed to lick the tips of her fingers. She hadn't known she had such a gentle side to her, but Ophelia knew right after this she would take a bath.
She let out a small cough and said goodbye to the client, and left.
