They both knew he was there.

A sniffle from the Slayer, casting a telling glance to Myrrh. She'd practically thrown her hands in the air when her suspicions had been proven correct and she'd stood face to face with the woman again, but that brief bout of emotion had passed as soon as it'd come on. They were all professionals, here. She assumed that the man listening to them through the wall was too, but he was, unfortunately, tailing the wrong people. Not that she had any doubt that they were literally the wrong people, she had full confidence he'd found his marks; but it would end up being the last thing her found.

Another sniffle. Lothric lifted her hand, and lazily lifted a finger at the wall to her right. Just above a display case, which Lothric hoped the woman would not smash when she did so. She could hear him through the wall; his footfalls, his breaths, every movement he made. And her finger, unbeknownst to him, pointed right at his head.
They'd already communicated the plan with deathly silence, both women having quite dramatically enhanced senses: Myrrh would likely concuss him with what she was about to do, and Lothric was supposed to keep him alive. They would see how that went. For now, the diminutive samurai lowered her body to the ground in a way not unlike some feral forest-child, touching fingers to the ground. In the otherwise silence, Myrrh might hear her whisper "Earth Dragon Stance" and draw minor concern from the implications. Not long now. He'd caught on outside from the herbalist's confused silence and was getting ready to move. On Lothric's end, her free hand splayed its fingers, and something truly inaudible was spoken. Cut from the air, a crescent blade fell into her hand what gripped now the shaft with deathly intent. She'd guess five seconds or less before he was face down, dead. Three, if he was having a bad day...
No, this was going to be a bad day for him either way. A very bad day. She'd give him three seconds, max. He would not last a breath longer.

    Myrrh
Myyrh wasn't exactly sure how to feel. The herbalist from her last job in Beanstalk Village had sent a letter requesting her presence, wishing to speak about those strange plants she collected. It felt...nice, being trusted and relied on; but it also made her...uneasy. She was still a new mage, and despite how honored she was, the idea of failing her first repeat client filled her with...fear? No it was closer to anxiety. She wasn't afraid to try her best.

Of course, considering it was a follow-up to her last foray; it came as no surprise that the freelance mage from last time was invited as well. 'Lothric' if her memory served correctly. They had met just a bit outside of the village and agreed to just go the rest of the way together. They were just as brusque as last time, only giving a quick greeting before signaling for Myrrh to follow. The demoness tried to strike up some manner of conversation along the way, but all she really received in-kind were grunts of affirmation; causing Myrrh to stumble over her words and end up going quiet. Perhaps it was for the best, the woman seemed distracted by something anyway - eye flicking behind them every once in a while as if looking for something, or someone. If that wasn't strange enough, the reappearance of the plants from her last job certainly would do the trick; about three of them peppered on the side of the path.

Still, oddities aside...they eventually arrived at their destination. The herbalist greeted them rather hurriedly and quickly shooed the pair into her house, leading them over to a table where one of the weeds she had been brought laid dissected. ""You see...the roots have the capability to break down anything they come into contact with, and then use those nutrients to grow to the surface, and repopulate!" She began to pace back and forth, mumbling things to herself, before Myrrh picked up a sudden myriad of signals from her partner.

Slight eye shifts, tensing of the shoulders, a tiny click of the teeth, and a rather obvious point of the finger to the right wall. Someone was there, someone who was definitely not supposed to be judging from how secretive the herbalist had been. Myrrh knew what to do immediately, a slight whisper, nodding her head in affirmation as she tensed her legs to strike. "Draconic Soul: Wyvern."

Almost instantly, her form would shift; before she took off - practically a green blur as she moved to punch the listener through the wall, shattering the display case, and the wall and probably the man's skull in a display of force. Despite that, he somehow reacted at the last moment and managed to thrust his rapier towards her stomach right before her fist made contact.

Still, the resounding smack as her clawed fist buried itself into his face was satisfying, sending him stumbling back, blood spilling from his now shattered nose. Not one to sit idle, Myrrh would quickly plant a palm on the ground and flip over the man - using his disorientation to her advantage and slamming an armored foot into the small of his back. This would propel him into the hole she just made, and allow Lothric to engage as she pleased.

    The displays were not spared.

The clatter of Myrrh decimating the wall was blocked out by Lothric, her eye deathly focused on the now exposed eavesdropper. Dressed darkly, and bearing a rapier. A thrusting weapon, but it looked like it could cleave if he brought it down hard enough. Flying, notably, towards her.
As the moonlight broke in, Lothric exhaled slowly through grit teeth. He was twisting to face her. A diagonal slash, upwards. Low, because of her stance. She weaved around it, and caught his hand; dislocated it merely because of the momentum he already carried. Then, when she pulled him back towards her and subsequently put a dent in the ceiling with him by way of high-powered kick, it was ripped off entirely. To throw off his composure, and to get rid of that pesky blade of his. To allow her to catch him by the neck, and to consequently slam him into the ground. Bones shattered a plenty.

Impassive to the horrified stare of the herbalist—unsure whether it was at her blood or the hole in her wall—Lothric left go of his throat and opted to put her blade there instead. Ready, very much so, to finish to broken eavesdropper without a second thought. Her red orb traced his dented face with disgust. She, evidently, had a distaste for criminals. Villains were one thing. Honor was another. This thing beneath her foot stirred something she'd thought she abandoned in that meditative journey. Apparently not.

"What's his sentence." said Lothric, unemotional as ever despite the tempest in her head. "A year? Less? Armed assault sounds pretty hefty." A groan from the man. The herbalist fretted over the splintered glass. Lothric never took her eyes off the one they had captured. Blood pooled. "Forgive me. I'm not very familiar with Fiore's justice system."

    Myrrh
Myrrh couldn't help the growl that slipped from her throat as she witnessed the brutality of Lothric, the way she just casually ripped off his arm and watched him scream sending chills down her spine. Gods there was so much blood, he would die of blood loss soon anyway if Lothric didn't kill him. As far as she knew there were no surgeons around, and even at her fastest she doubted she could get to a larger town that could keep him alive. Maybe the herbalist knew healing magic? Gods she hoped so.

"I...I'm not sure..but..." She was still new to the laws of Fiore and the magic council and wasn't the best at reading, especially long books with complicated words. She'd definitely have to get someone at the guild to help her with the specifics of that. Still, whether she was fully acquainted with the laws or not, she had the common sense to know that needlessly murdering someone who hadn't even made his move yet was wrong.

Taking a step forward, she would wince a bit as she felt the stab wound begin to leak a little blood; sharp teal eyes narrowingly threateningly at the woman - as her tail slammed against the ground. "Sheathe your weapon, now." The smell of blood was wafting through the air now, and the herbalist was trying to make herself as scarce as possible; moving behind her desk to stay out of any potential crossfire.

Lothric let the blade go, its blinding light fading away in embers.

    She did not step away.

Slowly, twitchily, her left eye pried itself open; the thing was held a little less so than her right, which was quite open, and boring into the girl who so assertively made her stance on the matter known. Lothric did not flinch at the sound. She merely stood.
She didn't remember much, but she knew she'd always struggled with words, even as a young girl. Anxiety of some sort, she understood. Even now, she struggled. Couldn't find the words to say. All she could do was stare. All she'd ever done when words failed her was stare. To acknowledge the other, to look them in the eyes, and to admit, openly, that she didn't have the stones to speak up. That she could only express herself with what she did. Dead silence reigned as not a single thing glinted in the Slayer's eye. She stared, impassively, at the one across from her. She was beholden to no rules. No moral code. The law was all that bound her, and even that hadn't ever had a firm grip.
All she could do was stare at Myrrh as she did it.

It was over in a flash, a streak of blood painting the door. The door that Lothric was already out.

    Myrrh
Gods it had all happened so fast.

It felt as if time had just...stood still. Lothric had just stared at her, unmoving, wordless. Her blade of light dissipating into particles. Did it fill Myrrh with...relief? No...she was still scared for the man's life, there was nothing to be relieved about. Perhaps...hope was the better word. Of course, whether she was correct or not mattered little; as in an instant the woman just whipped out another sword and slit his throat open anyway - quickly dashing for the door and booking it out of the village.

Myrrh tried to intercept, to grab her, to do anything; but all she ended up doing was tripping over the rubble of the wall, stumbling and landing right next to the corpse of the stalker; getting a full view of his gaping throat wound. Panic kicked in, and she immediately moved to try and stop the bleeding with her hands - only making a mess of her clothes as she realized how deep it was, and how dead the man was.

The herbalist rushed over and tried to comfort her, saying things like it wasn't her fault, and that there was nothing she could do; but Myrrh didn't believe that for a second. She knew the woman would hire Lothric back in a heartbeat if necessary, and...she knew that...if she was just a bit faster if she hadn't stood there and stared at the woman...perhaps this could've all been avoided.

Images flashed through her mind, of her mother and father, brothers and sisters - ravaging villages and ripping apart villagers for sport. Forcing her to watch as she sat in the back with healing herbs and salves. Such needless and mindless mutilation...she couldn't stand for it. Gods she needed to get stronger, so she could go back and serve them justice, Lothric too. One day...she would stop them all, no matter what.
