    History/Story
    History:
Once upon a time, in the faraway land of Disierto, there was a wizard noble called Thutmose IV who went by the title of “Pharaoh”, a term used for the most ancient of Disiertan rulers who allegedly governed the land before the Three Desert Sultan system came into being. He had immersed himself in magical research and so had amassed a great deal of power and wealth, enough to make the Sultans nervous about him, to the point they had even started to hunt him. Fortunately, this wizard had faithful allies he could count on for that trying period of time and so he managed to evade capture for quite a few decades.

However, eventually the Sultans managed to hunt him down and after slaughtering his allies, they killed him and dismembered his corpse, mummifying each individual body part before sealing it up in a series of large canopic jars with the help of an ancient Disiertan magic. They then laid these to rest in a solid cast sarcophagus made from an alloy which consisted of all the 7 alchemical metals and covered both the interior and exterior of this sarcophagus with as many magical charms as they could since they were afraid that due to the ancient magic they used on him, he would rise from the dead to wreak vengeance on them for the atrocity they had committed against him. After that, they inscribed the outside of the sarcophagus with a deadly curse to try to frighten off any who would try to open it, locked it with a magically enchanted key, and buried the key in an extremely hard to find locale within the deserts of Disierto. They then set the sarcophagus afloat on the ocean, praying that he would never find his way back to them.

For a long time, the sarcophagus rested on the ocean floor, being pushed along by whatever current managed to hit it until it reached the coast of Fiore. There, it was fished up by a group of fishermen who were initially curious about the catch since they had never seen an ancient, ornate coffin like that before, but they got an eerie feeling from it so they left it on the shore and ran off, screaming about evil spirits which were coming to haunt them all. Sometime later, the matriarch of the prominent Liu family happened upon it and since she was obsessed with anything ancient, historical, and cultural, she decided to bring it back with her to the Liu clan compound.

After bringing it back and cleaning it up, she proceeded to decipher the curse engraved into the metal of the sarcophagus, but since she was a mage and not really one to be frightened off by ancient curses, she decided to open the sarcophagus with the associated ancient key which she had procured while on a job in Disierto. In the sarcophagus, she found the canopic jars but couldn’t open them due to the magic seal that was placed on them. So, she gave up for the time being and went off to do more research on it expecting her notes to have the answer to her conundrum. Later, she just happened to be reading from the Book of the Dead, an ancient and powerful grimoire she had excavated in Disierto on one of her jobs and to her great surprise, the canopic jars opened on their own after which the mummified body parts in them rose up and put themselves back together as if by magic, completely taking her by surprise.

As she stood there, shell-shocked and unable to do or say anything, the pieces slowly finished reassembling themselves and after a few minutes, there stood before her a towering, complete mummy, decorated rather lavishly in pure gold ornaments which seemed to give off a profound vibe of power along with something more hidden, an almost unnerving sense of foreboding which would have overwhelmed a lesser woman than her. Of course, she was different, made of stronger stuff. So, instead of going into histrionics like other women would have upon seeing a chopped up mummy put himself back together again and come back to life, she felt her curiosity draw her irresistibly toward him and stand there in awe of his splendid, regal form.

After fully coming back to life, the revived, but now undead ancient pharaoh wizard, Thutmose IV, had introduced himself and questioned her. Instead of answering him, she inundated him with a flood of questions that she couldn’t stop from pouring out of her. Needless to say, this enraged Thutmose who had expected her to kneel before him and surrender herself to him. However, just as he was about to go into a rampage, she realized her mistake and apologized sincerely, knowing that she could not afford to let word of her astounding find reach anyone else before she had the chance to study him and acquaint him with the modern world.

Luckily for her, the pharaoh seemed to accept her contrite response, and relented from trying to unleash his might and fury of the ages upon her and his new environment. After ensuring that he had calmed down, she questioned him again, but this time she did so in a far more controlled way and succeeded in getting the answers she wanted from him. From then on, she began to take care of him and managed to fully acquaint him with the world she lived in at present day. He was a surprisingly quick study, and didn’t seem at all like he had been sealed up and dead inside a massive, cursed sarcophagus for several centuries till then.

Naturally, they grew closer and closer as time passed till both had begun to develop a strong fondness for each other. Eventually, it grew to the point where he suggested wedlock to her and she replied by introducing him to her parents and rest of the Liu clan. It took some finagling, but eventually his charismatic charm and the almost palpable sense of power that he seemed to exude, not to mention the vast riches he promised them in exchange for their daughter’s hand, succeeded in convincing them of his authenticity and intentions towards her. So, the two were united and several months later, managed to bring into the world, Raseth Liu, the only child of Thutmose and the heir to his ancient legacy and the illustrious lineage of powerful magi represented by him.

In addition to his pharaonic lineage, Raseth also inherited the sublime abilities of the Liu family, the chief among them being proficiency with fire magic. Apart from these, he had also inherited more generic traits such as a keen intellect, a fiercely tenacious spirit along with others which made him quite the precocious child right from birth.

Time passed with Raseth steadily learning all the lessons his parents had decided to teach him and upon his 15th birthday, his father had asked permission to take him on a training trip so he could teach him the deepest secrets of his Disiertan ancestors. It was all well and good, that is, until a notorious pirate gang who called themselves the “Four Fingers” ambushed them one day while they were out at sea. Alas, since they were not expecting it, Raseth and his father were both caught and imprisoned in the brig of the ship ran by the “Four Fingers” pirate gang. The gang had taken away all of the equipment and magic items that Raseth and his father had with them to prevent them from contacting anyone for help and so he and his father were left up a creek without a paddle, so to speak.

They had also taken the help of a holy magic user to subdue both Raseth and his father to make sure they couldn’t break free from their confinement, their goal in all this being the extraction from Raseth and his father the location of the ancient treasures of the pharaohs. To make things worse, after a while, they separated Raseth and his father and forced Raseth to work for them under the threat of his father’s demise at the hands of their holy magic using compatriot. This travesty went on for a good 3 years from then.

By his 18th birthday however, Raseth and his father had more than they could take of the pirates’ torture and imprisonment. They concocted an escape plan with Raseth being the crucial element since, by this point, he had intimate knowledge of the ship, its workings, as well as the rhythms of the crew members. After refining the plan, Raseth’s father Thutmose incited a mutiny among the crew members and the other prisoners in the brig by using his illusory powers and then while the confusion lasted, Raseth took the chance to brutally slaughter all the top brass of the group after which he took his father and escaped out to sea.

Unfortunately for them, just as they had begun to think they were home free, the cannons of the Four Fingers pirate ship roared, pelting them with cannonballs and destroying their lifeboat. As a result, Raseth and his father were left desperately swimming for their lives to avoid getting hit by any more cannonballs. Eventually, they sunk under the ocean surface and were left for dead by the pirates who had set sail once more to try to find some other source of information about their quarry.

Several days passed without much incident and finally, Raseth and his dad washed ashore in Joya, the famous land of the Neko race. There, they were found and slowly nursed back to health by the ever cheerful, overly frisky, friendly cat people after which they spent several months among said cat people, studying their customs and traditions and generally making friends with the lot of them. At the end of their stay, they were sent off with tearful, dramatic goodbyes as well as plenty of hickey marks all over their faces and necks and plenty of rations to last them till their destination, Fiore.

After reaching Fiore, they were found by the Liu matriarch, aka Raseth’s mother, who was by now a veritable ranging force of nature due to being worried sick about them all this time. Of course, this was made worse by her discovery of the several visible love bites given to them by the cat-girls and cat-women of Joya, with the natural result that she not only gave them an earful but also went on to clobber them nearly into a coma. Luckily, Raseth and Thutmose were able to convince the angry maternal goddess to cease and desist from her tirade and violent rampage and so, managed to save their own skins, albeit just barely. It took 3 years after that for them to re-integrate themselves into normal Fiorean society, but at long last it has finally happened and now, Raseth looks forward to the future with the rest of the Liu, wondering all the while what sort of new and exciting adventures he will get to go on henceforth.

    “Ugh…my head…where…are we?”

Raseth groaned as he gingerly clutched his throbbing head and looked about the shoreline of the Joya nation, not that he knew where he was at that moment. At that time, he noticed his father lying face down in the sand and so, he helped him back up

“I…think…this might be, oh no, it’s Joya, the land of the Neko race, son.”

Raseth tilted his head and gave his father a confused look

“And that’s a bad thing how?”

His curiosity only mounted upon seeing his father’s nervousness as nothing he had seen of the land in his brief perusal seemed to indicate any signs of danger. He waited for his father to clear up this mystery for him, but before his father could do so, they were accosted by the natives who seemed to be some sort of were-feline race, something he had never encountered before then. Fortunately, they didn’t have any sense of malice towards either Raseth or his father, a fact that confused Raseth even further since the natives were actually friendly towards them. However, before he could ask his father anything about the issue, the females among them had wrapped their arms around his own and those of his father with entranced eyes and purrs floating from their lips and then the males pushed them towards their home base, all the while laughing heartily and talking relentlessly as they introduced themselves.

“Whoa...this is some reception, dad…I don’t get it, why are you afraid?”

His father looked at him while sweating bullets as he was imagining his wife, Raseth’s mother back home in Fiore

“S-Son, it’s not these guys we need to worry about…a-actually, it’s your…mother, you know how she can get, right?”

As he heard this, Raseth realized in what sort of really hot water they would be in whenever it was they would finally get back to Fiore. His mother could be quite the terrifying monster when she wanted to be, after all. The Neko saw their predicament and since they thought the two were sick, they brought Raseth and his father to their elder where they plied them with enough food and drink to make them full to nearly bursting. After that, the Neko entertained them for what seemed like hours on end, late into the night. Of course, to avoid angering them, Raseth and his father went along with the festivities and eventually passed out, totally plastered from all the strong alcohol they had been given by their hosts.
