[Silver Wolf] A Scholarly Dispute Empty [Silver Wolf] A Scholarly Dispute

       Job Title: A Scholarly Dispute
       Rank: A
Job Location: Silver Wolf Guild Hall
       Solo Word Count: 16,000 Words
       Group Word Count: 24,000 Words
Additional Requirements: A-Rank or equivalent. Must be a member of Silver Wolf. Up to four members maximum. At least one member must have completed Lab Work. Players must resolve the dispute with the visiting mage. The conflict can be resolved through either words or a clash of magic. Players must NOT kill the visiting mage. Once the conflict has been settled either way, the job is complete.
Job Description:  Having somehow heard of the newly acquired artifact, a curious mage has come to see it for themselves. Once they have seen it, they will request to see the research notes. Once they have seen the research notes, they will dispute the findings. It is at this point that a conflict arises and a resolution must be reached. They will offer to sit in on a demonstration of the artifact or they will offer a magic duel.

If the player chooses to demonstrate the artifact, they must be prepared to answer questions from the mage. The questions vary from incredibly easy to rather difficult. At least seven of the ten questions must be answered to the mage’s satisfaction.

If the player chooses to engage in a magic duel, they should be prepared to face a mage of varying capabilities. No matter how strong (or weak) the mage is, the player must NOT kill the visiting mage! Killing them results in job failure. The battle will continue until one party submits or is knocked out.

    Notes:

    • As abrasive as the visiting mage can be, the player does not need to worry about them stealing the notes or the artifact. They are only after an honest scholarly debate.
    • The visiting mage’s name and appearance is entirely up to the players.
    • The visiting mage’s personality is entirely up to the players. They can be polite and scholarly or they can be abrasive and skeptical of the player’s research. It is recommended to make the mage at least a bit skeptical if “demonstration” is chosen.
    • If the “duel” route is chosen, the player can make the mage’s stats and spells. It is recommended to at least make the mage’s stats and spells at the same rank as the player engaging in the duel.
    • Once the mage chooses to signal a surrender, the duel is over. It is a genuine surrender, not a ploy to get a free shot on the player. Heed their submission.
    • If the “demonstration” route is chosen, players may manually choose question difficulty or roll the Enemy Dice to determine the difficulty of their questions.

Enemies: The job has an enemy, but it is not one that can be defeated by force of arms or by magic. If the player chooses “demonstration”, they may roll for the difficulty of the questions to simulate an academic discussion.

    • Enemy Rank: Weak
         Enemy HP: N/A
This question is so easy it should be able to be answered without even batting an eye.

    • Enemy Rank: Normal
         Enemy HP: N/A
This one might be slightly harder. It may be slightly more technical in nature and cover subjects like how it works and whether there are any side effects to artifact usage. If the player has done sufficient research, the question should not be too hard.

    • Enemy Rank: Strong
         Enemy HP: N/A
Now things are getting technical. The questions may cover technical aspects such as the composition of the artifact and its craftsmanship. One may have a hard time talking their way through this one without adequate research.

    • Enemy Rank: Boss
         Enemy HP: N/A
The gloves are off. The mage is testing to see if the player has truly done their research. Questions are of a much more challenging nature. Answering this question is a true test of one’s research skill and attention to detail.

Reward: A-Ranked EXP and 50K Jewels for a job well done.
