Several Days Ago Prior To Taking The Job.
A very tired and sleepy Margaret crashed into her bed and curled up into a ball with a groan. She had just spent several weeks on a stupid job and she was tired as all hell. Her body was sore, her feet blistered and her head aching, pounding against her skull like a deranged animal trying to free itself from its cage. "I am never doing that again." She declared in the privacy and solitude of her home in Rose Garden.
She closed her eyes and slowly waited to drift off to sleep. Hours later her annoyance was building and her discomfort was making itself apparent. She thrashed around her bed, tossing and turning, trying to position better for the sake of comfort.
It wasn't normal for Margaret to be unable to sleep. It just was of those things that didn't happen. She was used to sleeping everywhere. On some bumpy rock, no problem! On a tree branch? Tie yourself around it so you don't fall off! On some grasslands in the rain! Buckle up and get used to getting wet! Sleep was a vital part of a healthy fast paced lifestyle and Margaret considered herself to be a master of it.
It would soon be a few hours til morning before she actually got herself some sleep, just enough to recover any used up stamina she had used previously. She was still physically tired and uncomfortable when she woke up. She had discerned what had giving her her sleep problems. Her blanket was, upon inspection, not as comfortable as when she had first bought it.
She bundled up the blanket and threw it into the bin before heading it to look for a store that would sell her some particularly nice and fluffy blankets for her to sleep with. Her search for a shop took her high, low, and around Rose Garden. She tried so many blankets that day, from wrapping it around herself to just feeling it.
Far into her blanket shopping she had decided to rest on a bench. She also took the opportunity to take into account the blankets she's tested and started to rank them based on how fluffy they felt.
"Yer looking for a blanket lassie?" Distracted from her thoughts, she looked at the old man who had approached her seemingly from out of nowhere.
"Well, yeah. How'd you-" She began to ask.
"I thought so, you look like you didn't get enough sleep."
'I do?' She wondered.
The man launched off into his story. He introduced himself as the owner of the shop across the bench that they were sitting on. He told her of how he sold the fluffiest blanket this side of Earthland made from the finest materials.
At first Margaret was skeptical about the old man's tale. Then she felt the blanket that the old man had brought and she decided that she had to have a blanket like this.
"Ah sorry lass. I don't get a new supply of materials for these blankets til next month." The old man said apologetically.
"Aw..." Margaret whined adorably, visibly heartbroken that she wasn't getting a wonderfully fluffy blanket. Then she had the most wonderful idea.
"What if...what if I went out to get the materials for the blanket?" She asked, slowly getting determined.
"Lass, going out on your own to get it is dangerous!" But Margaret wasn't about dissuaded by danger and warnings.
"No. Having a blanket like this immediately has now become a life goal." Margaret declared, staring intimidatingly down at the man. "Where can I get the materials for the blanket."
"...Well...if you're so determined then I guess I can't stop you." The old man sighed. "Right then, here's how you get the stuff for the blanket..."
Margaret sat there excitedly absorbing the information the man was giving her.
"Do you understand what I've told you?" He asked once he finished explaining. Margaret gave an enthusiastic nod.
"Spooky Forest, kill a ram, bring it back for fluffy blanket." The old man smiled and pat her head.
"Smart girl. Well I'll get back to my shop, you bring the ram there alright?" Margaret watched the old man hobble back to his shop. Once he disappeared Margaret raced back off into her place.
"We're going on an adventure!" She yelled happily as she raced down the streets, even ignoring the use of door and instead flying through her home's window after slamming it open. She was going on adventure to help endanger a species of ram for a blanket and to her that was worth it. Hours were lost in a flurry of packing supplies for this venture.
Margaret was determined to have a fluffy blanket to sleep with and damned be the consequences.
It was late in the evening when she set off. She set off to kill a not so innocent ram.
