    IN THE BEGINNING...
part one : king of darkness

The Anagallis — such a species of dragon was unheard of like the existence of unicorns or fairies. They were a whisper within the forests and a melody that ushered harmony in the duet of chirping birds. Nobody knew of them. And even in the time when their brothers and sisters existed, laying witness to one was unheard of. Rather, it was the hymn of the Anagallis' voices that scripted a rare legend into the inmost places of thicket valleys. It was said often, that if the harmony of these beings could blanket over those with ill intention, that their minds would be swayed and their hearts would be calmed. Forcing their change of will to traverse anywhere else but conflict.

Though, that was one of the many things the Anagallis was known for. Spirits of the forest. Guides to the lost. Would it have surprised you to know that they had dwelled amongst humans? They were curious creatures, though very mysterious. Friendly old lady, and little girl the next. Even if you betrayed them. They would forgive you instead of holding a grudge. After all, their aim was peace, not war. Honest and cheerful, they were just as captivating as the light of the moon — a daisy within roses, a flake of snow within the rain.

It was, within the time of dragons, that those of the green sunk into the shadows, and simply disappeared. Despite their fearless and bright nature, there was an unease that urged all that aside, into the urgency of being hidden. For something else, but the others had aroused into the world of dragons and humans. The two-legged creatures, that lay at mercy of the many selfish and wicked wyverns, had grown tired of playing cat and mouse. One man in particular. A King, might it have been more specific, had twisted and turned in the blood of many dragons — innocent or not. He toyed with the laws of the world itself, and became what he had hated the most. Chaos appeared across his kingdom like the pounding rain of a storm, and the dragons scattered through the world in search of hiding.

They had learnt how to put up masks and blend in with human society. Eventually, the dragons that had once loathed humans, felt as if, they were just as similar as the two-legged creatures themselves. Nobody heard of dragons again, though, the King searched hastily for the beasts that hid behind human-flesh. Ravaging villages, and slaughtering the harmless. The world had grown so bare of what he thought he might find. Even when his mind convinced him, that they were no longer there. A whisper within the wind met his ears. A forgotten voice. A hymn of notes. The Anagallis was still alive.

But... where were they? He had sifted past every village, and through every hidden cleft in the valley of woods and mountainsides. Yet for some reason, they were almost similar to the presence of ghosts. There, but at the same time, not quite. The King was willing to forget these dragons. Even as his hatred burned hotter than fire itself, there was belief, that while bathed in the blood of many, that his mind had been driven into madness. Perhaps the voices he had heard was a figment of his imagination. Though... even anger in the form of something, that may have not existed, would not pass so easily. They were there. He thought. And so, he waited.

    IN THE BEGINNING...
part two : mother & father

    Anthea and Zoro.

She may have known of her parents, though, there was one in particular, that she had never gotten the chance to meet. Only stories and tales were what could fulfill her curiosity. Though, even now, she struggles to remember the two, that had brought her into this world. The tale of the two whom had brought about a gift, and yet, a calamity. And a story that would be remembered forever.

Anthea was an Anagallis, through and through, whilst Zoro was a simple human. They had crossed paths one-day within the depths of the forest. It was forbidden to go out alone, especially since the two were children at this time. Though, their curiosity had gotten the best of them both, and in the end, they often met up with each-other to explore or tell stories. Around this time, Zoro was unaware of the fact that this apparent young girl was actually a dragon. She had said she had come from a village on the other side of the valley, a day away from where he lived himself. Despite being friends, there was a suspicion or rather, what it usually seemed to be — a curiosity that lead him to follow Anthea as she departed back home.

To his surprise, she did not live a day away from him, but came to a strange looking shrine that had been abandoned and grown over in patches of moss and leaves. At the approach of the green-haired girl, the air around her rippled and moved unnaturally as she stepped into the almost water-like surface that emanated from the entrance of the shrine. Without a thought, Zoro pursued after her, barely making it into the portal. His eyes adjusted to the harsh light that came with what could only be described as another world, or perhaps another country. Though, before he could continue any further into this alien-like realm, a force painful enough to blur his vision struck the blonde on the back of the head, forcing him into the darkness of going unconscious.

Later on, Zoro had awoken on the surface of the earthy floor, his skull pounding and vision hazy. He had no clue what had just happened, but it seemed the area around him was scarce of any company and he quickly stood to his feet — or attempted too. The nearby vines and branches moved casually, lifting him upside down to meet two large eyes that peered curiously towards him. It took awhile for him to fathom what was actually looking at him, and by the time he did, even a mer scream couldn't have left his throat. Zoro was so nervous he thought he might've stopped breathing. A dragon was right in front of him! Weren't they extinct! Whats going on?

"You shouldn't be here. It's dangerous you know?" a voice spoke, his eyes widening at the familiarity. Cautiously he glanced around, hoping to catch sight of that green-haired girl, though, she was nowhere to be found. Zoro assumed he was going crazy. "I'm right here you know!" the voice boomed again, this time much more clearer. Red eyes meet the set of golden pools that gawked at him still. "A-Anthea?" he stuttered out, uncertainly. The vines and branches loosened around his legs and he fell to the ground with a thud! groaning over in the brief loss of air that was lugged from his lungs. "Geez! I didn't want you to know! I was afraid you'd look at me differently... after all—"

"You're a dragon..." he interrupted, voice hoarse as he stood up to his feet. Anthea went silent with anxiety, wondering if she should tell him to leave, or wait for him to reply. In all the honesty that she'd never say out loud, she didn't want the blonde to leave. She was afraid if she went back to that place after all this, that he would never return ever again. "Amazing!" with a shout, she flinched at his words, "Thats so cool! How come you never told me!" his hands clenched infront of his chest in a gesture of excitement, Anthea peering down at him in a still frozen shock. She really couldn't believe that a human had so quickly accepted her. From what she had heard from her people, they were to stay far away from humans because of their unlikely nature. Just meeting up with Zoro outside of her home was dangerous enough, but to bring him here was more dangerous for him than her.

Nonetheless, the two continued to meet each-other. Zoro grew more quickly than Anthea did, for she was able to alter her pace of aging. It was, twenty years later, when the two of them realized that they both loved one another. Though, they were struggling to find away to tell their families, and if it was alright to tell them everything. After all, Anthea couldn't tell her people that she had fallen in love with a human, nor could Zoro tell his family that he had fallen in love with a dragon. So, the two considered running away, and run away they did.

They didn't travel far from where the portal to Anthea's home lived, but dwelled deeper in the forest in a small and isolated cabin. At least three years later, it was discovered with joy, that Anthea was pregnant. Which had seemed unlikely though, while settled in her human form for the majority of the time, it became evident in many signs, the number one being the rise of a stomach. Their child was brought into this world in the time of winter, flakes of white gently caressing the forest in a peaceful silence, the cry of a baby resounding out of their cabin. She held the child carefully against her chest, the two in nearing tears of utter happiness.

Anthea passed the little girl into the arms of her father, messy blonde hair and a little green sliver of hair ruffled across her crown. "Hello... Anna..." and that was how she was brought into the world. As half human and half dragon. She was truly one of a kind. Though, despite the peaceful times that the three seemed to share. Not everything would last forever.

    IN THE BEGINNING...
    part three : acnologia

Twelve years had passed since the time Anna was born into this world. She lived in the forest with her mother and father, an adventurer at heart and possibly more curious than them. It wasn't an unfamiliar habit to find her wandering to far away from where they lived, or always getting herself into trouble. Compared to her mother, she aged normally like a human being, which had appalled the two since they expected her to have some sort of dragon-like capabilities. Though, it was also suggested at this time, that she just hadn't awakened those abilities or her other form just quite yet.

In-fact, the little blonde girl, had never known her mother was a dragon all this time. They figured she wouldn't have taken the subject lightly, or worse, exposed her true form to the wrong type of people. Anna was in the dark about whom she really was, though, she never held a single form of doubt within her parents, always trusting and loving them both.

One day though, when she had traversed further off into the forest and away from home, she came across a strange looking man in the opening of the woods, a large willow settled in the centre of the area as he sat there, seemingly napping. There were strange blue-markings along his body, and he had long white hair, that shimmering like stardust in the faint streaks of sunlight that crept through the willows branches. Anna, whom was oblivious in the face of danger, watched this man curiously until he woke up. His voice was deep, and gruff, though it held a sense of power almost that caused the girl to shiver slightly in excitement.

"Are you lonely?" was the first thing Anna had mentioned when they settled into an almost tensing silence. Instead of running away, or showing fear. The little blonde girl could only smile towards the man whom bore a cold and rather intimidating stare. Though, for some reason, it seemed to lighten towards the girl and her question. "Sometimes." he replied.

The two spoke together about many things. The man told her about the world and everything he had lost. Their names had never been mentioned into the conversations that they had with one another, for it never seemed necessary at this time. But one day, Anthea had noticed her daughters constant leave, bringing food with her, or other little trinkets. She had figured from her intuition, that she might've had a friend, and so, ended up following Anna towards the opening of this secret meadow within the woods.

Anthea had never seen the King that bathed in the blood of dragons, though, she had heard enough stories to know what he looked like, and whom he was. The moment she saw that man in the distance, speaking with her daughter, was the moment she realized whom he was. "Anna!" she called out, without a single thought in mind. The blonde girl ran over to her mother in excitement, surprised by the firm grip that met her wrist and forced her to stand over behind her. Golden eyes clashed with a deeper shade of gold, almost tinged in red, the tension growing around the peaceful area, stirred all ease away into the shifting breeze.

"M-Mommy... this is my friend..." the little girl squeaked out, anxiously. "Stay away from my daughter." Anthea spoke firmly, though, it was obviously that she was trying not to break. Her heart was racing immensely. The man stood to his feet, remaining as expressionless as ever. "I'd have never thought.." he muttered to himself. Anna and him had formed a close bond of friends despite their age. He would never admit now, though, he did consider her as a daughter almost. It was hard to look at her the same now, knowing the blood that ran through her veins was part dragon.

"M-Mister... whats going on?" pulling away from her mother's grasp, the little girl stepped towards him, Anthea letting a gasp slip past her lips, "...Did I do something... to make you mad..." her voice was delicate, laced with concern yet a guilt for something she thought she might have done. His expression softened as he looked down at the girl, a gentle smile tracing his lips. "Forgive me.. but I have to do this." within a flash he moved towards her, obviously looking to physically harm her. Though a figure blocked the way, crimson flying suddenly into the air as the man's hand easily flew through the chest... of her father.

Anna stumbled backwards, peering up at the scene of what could only be described as a horror. "Z-Zoro..." Anthea stuttered out, the blonde man grasping onto the arm of the man before him, choking back on blood as he grinned childishly. "Run... Anthea... take our daughter... and run!" he shouted, the two of them flinching. The green-haired woman frantically grasped onto Anna's hand, dashing quickly towards the thicket of woods, tears falling from her eyes. His grip clawed into the arm that had thrusted easily through walls of flesh and bone.

Zoro was dying. That was obvious with the amount of blood he was loosing. Though, he could only hope, that his life would've helped the two of them. That they would be okay and somehow reach safety.
