Post by RockyTheRockiestRock 7th July 2015, 11:44 am

    Job Details:

The sounds of cracking earth can be heard as a large slab of earth is forced off to the side with beams of light spilling into the darkened tombs, revealing a preserved scene of tapestries
and millennium old items laying about scattered. A few deteriorating tables rest in lines while several stone constructs seem to make up what seems to be a kitchen of sorts. Perhaps this was a mass hall of some design. After leaving the grassy clearing to step into the sealed tomb, he punches his fist into the solid floor to pull out a chunk of earth which he ate.

"Emilia, this is the one...the earth here is more potent than the others in earthen magics. Perhaps this was a gathering point for the mages who made the rumored labyrinth for the council. Whatever the case, it seems to lead inwards even more, we should check it out."

Minh pointed over to a large entrance further into the ruins, and as he stood up to walk towards it, he felt a bit off. "Something else is here, I can feel it...but...it feels off...we should be on our guard for this one." Minh warned as he looked to and fro, going over to examine the stone constructs to see if he could find anymore, but instead, he found a pile of warm ashes lying in one of the constructs. He would gesture the woman over to check it out as well, and this would lead to even more signs of intruders. "I knew there was something strange with that seal, it felt as if it had been loosened prior to our arrival, but I did not wish to see it as such." He also noted the various crystal fragments lying about that bursts into dust as he picked them up. "Those bastards are here...ready your weapons, we may have to cut down some of this poor fellows."

Emilia had been looking around the ruins as well, more for Harper and his men than for wherever the artifacts were being held. Minh was more in tuned with the earth and whatnot, so she had left him to find that entrance. She had found signs of intruders camping here earlier. No surprise that they were already here. Harper was good, though his men seemed sloppy, not properly covering their tracks. Still, since there were no signs of life outside, she found a spot to wait for Minh and check her gear. The earthen mage arrived, informing her that he had found the entrance. He also noticed that there were others already here.
"Aye, Harper beat us here. Looks like he tried to hide the fact that they beat us, probably hoping that we would wait outside while they got some artifacts, thinking they would show up, then come out and take us down, using whatever they found to help out. Unfortunately for him, he seems to have some rookies. They did a bad job in hiding that the fact that they were here already." She grinned "I guess we'll show 'em a bit of a surprise eh? Inside should be relatively close quarters, so they won't be able to do a whole lot to keep away from us." She drew her mace. She would probably have to keep it in this form for the most part. There likely wouldn't be enough room to properly swing a flail. Depending on how tight the corridors were, she might even have to switch to her spear. In a one person wide hallway, it could be quite deadly. Not enough room to maneuver meant nowhere to go to dodge a good thrust from a spear, or a spear tip fired out from the weapon. She would stick with her weapon of choice for now though, since it was more compatible with her magic. "Come on. Let's head inside. We'll deal with them as they come up. Shall I take point, or does the earth man want to be the first to go underground?"

Minh would look into the corridor, seeing how tight it was, and he promptly made his way back to the mess hall to break off a large slab of eat before eating away at it until it was something along the lines of a very thick tower shield with a hand that allowed Minh to carry the makeshift shield as he returned to Emilia. She could see from the thickness of it that it would probably be able to withstand even the heaviest of bullets save for something like a tank shell or a highly damaging explosive, but it could serve very well considering the close quarters they would probably have to be fighting in. Whatever the case, it would make most sense for the more hardy of the two fighters to make their way inside of the tomb.

"I shall head in first to take the brunt of any unfortunate trap or attack laid by these thieves. Never really liked treasure hunters and their habits of defacing grounds like these for their own benefit...at the very least they could leave less of a mess on these ruins. For now, we shall head in deeper, so cover my back with Cheepie. I doubt any of them could be coming around our backside, but I am not one to take chances with maybes. Now, keep close, I will be moving quite hastily since we do now know how far these bastards have progressed."

With that said, Minh began moving down the corridor, following turns and keeping a watchful eye on everything that he passes to look out for anything off. So far, he has seen only a piece of debris here or there along with several marks on the walls and floors showing prints on where dust had been once. These guys may have been rather careful in their operation, but there was no such thing as the perfect heist.

Emilia watched as Minh created his stone shield and nodded, allowing him to go in first. That shield could come in handy. The two entered the corridor and Emilia observed her surroundings. The corridor wasn't too tight, if she needed to, she could run past Minh, or jump over him. It was small enough though that many of her spells would be able to hit everything in the hallway, which was good, since there would be nowhere for the enemies to escape. "Sounds good to me." Emilia followed along behind him in the corridor, listening carefully for any footfalls beyond their own. She was looking forward to fighting these guys, not out of any hatred for them like Minh had though. She just was looking forward to a fight.

She really didn't understand Minh's hatred for these guys. What they were doing was just business, as was what they were doing. She hardly ever felt ill will for their opponents. She was paid to fight them so she fought them. Honestly, treasure hunting made sense to her. Why let all these powerful magic items sit and go to waste? There was nothing to be gained from keeping them buried with the dead. Then again, there also wasn't much to be gained by putting them in a museum. Why not outfit the military with them? Surely that could help with law enforcement and help ensure that they could just send Rune Knights to deal with issues like these instead of calling on mercenaries. Hell, the council was so desperate they even called on dark wizards. Honestly, the whole management of this issue was piss poor.

Emilia's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps. Someone was coming. She prepared for battle, getting ready to charge past Minh if she needed to. "Someone's coming, get ready."

Minh was not really hating on these men for the sole reason of them raiding, but more so the fact that they sought to endanger the balance of the world for their own profits which seemed more important than preventing the wrong items from falling into the worst of hands. Yet, even such a though did not deter many from trying their hand at such an act anyways. It was not Minh's best interest to allow fools to get their hands upon the strongest of artifacts for gain, and it was not to said that Minh wouldn't like to acquire a powerful to help him further his goals. Upon hearing Emilia's warning as well as the coming footsteps, Minh moved forward even faster as if wanting to intercept these foes before they knew what was coming. As a group of armed men rounded the bend of the corridor they were immediately charged by Minh who bursts into a full-on charge to smash into three men throwing them back into a wall while the other two turn their weapons on Minh who immediately twisted into a spinning maneuver knocking the weapons out of their arms with his shield before setting himself loose on one with the other being open for Emilia. Cheepie joined the fight by going into a quick, shallow dive into the three stumbling men going to and fro pecking with hammering force to keep them distracted and unable to utilize their weapons even going so far as to smash the hands of the men while his two human comrade each took care of their individual opponents. Minh was slamming the man repeatedly with his shield while the man attempted pulling out various handguns on the earthen warrior who was keen enough to not allow such a thing to occur.

Emilia, surprisingly, didn't immediately charge into the heat of things, as to not get into Minh's way. No, she decided to take the more clever approach to brutality. Charging into the heat of things, while it could be fun, wasn't always the most effective. Still, Minh's decision to close the gap quickly was a smart one, but there was no need for her to rush in right behind him. Their opponents were all distracted by the monk and his bird, leaving them perfectly vulnerable to attack from behind. In fact, given the situation, Trauma wouldn't be the best choice of weapon here. She wanted something that could cut and stab, and as such, she quickly replaced Trauma on her belt and drew Valkyrie, but didn't extend the spear at all, keeping it instead as a knife with a rather large handle. She dropped her shield as well, since she would need the free hand. She walked up behind the group quickly, but relaxed. In an almost disturbingly casual manner she grabbed one of the treasure hunters from behind and pulled him into her before thrusting Valkyrie through the bottom of his jaw, the 8-inch blade easily piercing the man's skull. A short gurgling sound came from the man's mouth as what air was in his lungs escaped through blood and mangled flesh.

Upon seeing Emilia mercilessly dispatch one of his comrades, another hunter cried out "SHI-" But his cry was cut short as Emilia extended Valkyrie's handle with explosive force. The shing sound of metal on metal was quickly followed by that of metal piercing the flesh of the poor hunter's chest. With the spear firmly inside her foe, she pulled it to her, pulling the man over to her as well, to an extent. She raised a foot as she did so, putting it against the hunter's stomach to pull her spear out with a gush of blood. Now taking her spear in both hands, she slashed upwards across the hunter's chest. The sights and sounds of one of their comrades being quickly and efficiently dispatched and the other being likely mortally wounded drew the attention of the others to Emilia, which would give Minh and Cheepie an opening for further assault.

Minh was quick on the draw as well, slamming his foe against the wall with a crack before moving up with a smooth movement to slam the side of his makeshift shield into the neck of the hunter, severing the head from the rest of the body via blunt trauma. He was not one to take enjoyment in his handiwork which was more of a mark for the tasteless slaughterers of dark guilds, and instead, in his place was a feeling more akin to peace in doing what is needed to defuse potential threats to this land and Gaia. Bringing his mind back into the fight, he quickly moved to take down the remaining two men who had managed to recovered from Cheepie, who left them bleeding from multiple spots on their bodies. With one swing, he crumpled a hunter's midsection before sending them flying to the wall off to the side, folding in two quite literally before grabbing the last hunter by the neck pushing up up against a wall. "Where is he!?" He said bluntly while Cheepie removed the last pieces of weaponry of the hunter's person. He knew that their leader was not too far away, and that it was crucial that they manage to smother information from this person before ridding of them. With that in mind, he gave a small command to Cheepie who hopped off quickly down the corridor to check everything out, being told to act as a lost little animal to defuse any suspicions of the men.

Giving off little cheeps of adorable levels about that of kittens, Cheepie made his way deeper into the ruined maze, hoping to come across something much more informative. It was a rather off sight to see a sweet, little sparrow trapped in a place like this with such an encounter compelling even the merciless of men to take pity on it.

As Minh took out the last of the hunters, Emilia began walking on. She wouldn't bother with his interrogation attempt. It was pointless. They would find him when they found him. "Don't bother. He probably doesn't know. Oh and we've probably alerted them to our presence. I wouldn't let your little bird go off alone. He's cute, but these guys know he doesn't belong in here, and know the place should be relatively sealed. They'll likely have orders to shoot anything that isn't one of them. Trust me, cuteness won't let these guys interfere with their business." That was definitely true. Aside from the most inexperienced newbie, Cheepie's little cuteness tactics would do nothing. "Trust me. They'll just shoot that annoying little thing dead." She stopped for a moment and turned to Minh, grinning. "And before you ask how I know. It's what I would do. And I think just like they do. Now finish up with that one, we've got bigger fish to fry." She didn't look back to Minh, continuing on ahead. She should be able to handle a group on her own, at least for long enough for Minh to arrive and help out. These close quarters left them with little room to avoid her, and she could charge their guns with ease between Bullheaded and Ricochet. She kept her weapons raised, prepared for more hostiles to show up. The close quarters certainly did give her an edge against those armed with guns. Though she imagined this place would have some antechambers and other more open spaces. That raised a good point, actually. She turned back now, walking to the slain hunters, she picked up one of their guns and his bandolier which held a few magazines on it. She checked it for damage before reloading with another magazine on another one of the hunters, then slung it over her back. "These are pretty nice. Could come in handy in a more open area. I'd take one too, Minh, if you have any clue how to use it. It never hurts to be prepared. Come on now, we should hurry. No doubt someone's heard our entrance and is coming this way, or worse, setting up traps." These guys probably had some sort of explosives they could set up and detonate as a trap, which, if they got the chance to set one up, would be far from ideal.

Minh was quite sure of the fact that Cheepie was not the best of choices to send out as a scout, but he was also the smallest out of the party so he does serve his purpose as a one nevertheless. The man was also certain that Cheepie would not be foolish enough to allow himself to enter into any form of great danger, and in fact, he wondered if Cheepie already knew the circumstances of the situation that was laid out for him. If so, then Minh wondered even more on the intellect of his pet, but that inquiry would have to rest as he picked up two of the weapons that the thieves were using. Both of these seem to be what people call SMGs but to Minh, they were at the very least rather useful in ranged combat. Minh tore off one of the belts and store it up with magazines with hooking the two SMGs to his side before making his way deeper into the ruins with his makeshift shield pointed frontwards to intercept anything unfortunate attacks that may be coming his way. That and his existing layer of overly hardened earth would serve as an even greater defense against any attacks that might come their way. But of course, Minh was not planning on taking every piece of abuse if it were possible.
    ----
Cheepie hopped along the ruins with his head looking upon the many old stony artifacts and rubble that laid about were interesting, but it was not something of his concern for the most part since he was serving as a scout for his allies. Though, he wondered if his initial tactic would work if it he was to be a sneaky, little thing again. Whatever the case, he hopped onward sticking close to the rubble in case he needed a place to hide in to take someone by surprise.

Emilia continued on ahead. She was unsure which direction the little bird had gone, as she now reached a crossroads in the tunnels. She could either go straight, left, or right. She chose to go right for now. She marked the direction by detaching the head of Valkyrie and placing it facing the direction she had gone. Minh would probably notice and be able to figure it out. A new tip reformed in its place and she was quickly ready to go again. Granted, she wouldn't be able to generate a new one if she shot this one for a bit, but she had a ranged weapon now anyway, one more lethal than Valkyrie.

After a short time, she heard more footsteps and prepared herself. She rounded a corner to encounter two treasure hunters. She knew not to give them a chance to fire and immediately plowed into them with Bullheaded, knocking them down. They fired several bullets as they fell, though none hit Emilia. She quickly turned, having dashed somewhat past the two so they were behind her, and stabbed one with her spear, eliciting a yelp of pain. He tried to draw a pistol, but she stomped down on his hand with one foot, the other was planted on his chest. She adjusted the grip on her spear and ripped it up through the man's stomach before pulling it out. During this time, his companion had drawn a pistol and aimed it at Emilia's head. The red-headed warrior noticed this out of the corner of her eye and was able to put up her Redirection barrier as the other woman pulled the trigger. The bullet struck her helmet and crumpled, feeding its kinetic energy into Emilia's shield. Still, there was a small clang and Emilia fell over. The hunter stood and approached what she thought to be her unconscious or dead opponent. As she reached Emi's leg, Emi kicked the woman's knee, empowering it with her stored force to shatter her kneecap. The other woman let out a scream of pain and bent over. Emi charged her boot with force using Power Play and kicked the woman in the jaw, snapping her head backwards as she toppled onto her back.

With a jump kip, Emilia was back on her feet and quickly finished off her adversary, plunging the spear into her throat, severing major veins and arteries as well as her spine. With that, she pulled her bloodied spear from the woman's body. The hunters definitely knew of the group's presence. She decided she should wait for Minh to come. If there were more facing her at once, it would not have been good. She had a feeling he and Cheepie would encounter some resistance soon as well.

Minh decided to do the same as well to split in order to cover more ground in order to find this perpetrator before he gets his hands onto these artifacts which Minh imagine to be artifacts of great power. Now artifacts like these in the hands of those who understand the power is alright, which is why Minh was so opposed to grave robbers of wanting to be getting them in the first place. Maybe they do possess the know how in dealing with these ancient items, but then comes the second issue of having them do so is if one can trust their proper uses. This was an even bigger issue for Minh especially if he knows his targets know of the items' full capabilities because this would mean that whoever this was that is seeking them can only bring great ruin or wonder to the world. With human nature and the usual flow of events dealing with humanity, it can only lead to ruin. While this is a rather pessimist view of his kind, Minh was not going to deny that a majority of his people are not the best.

It was in this train of thoughts that he would come across two patrolling men setting up in a long hallway with what seems to be huge cannon. Immediately the men were in a panic upon seeing the stony figure, seeing him for what could be a guardian of the ruins as shouts came up from their positions. Their panic did not slow their progress of setting up the weapon, but Minh was not going to allow them sadly to finish setting up the heavy weaponry.

    -Executor's Step-

Like a flash, Minh disappeared before their very eyes before having the life flicker from them following a sound of cracking bone and gushing blood. With two receding hands, Minh pulls out of the two men's chests who slumps over their defensive position with open eyes closed by the rocky male. The cannon and its armaments were soon secured by Minh whose strength was more than enough to do so without any hindrance.

Cheepie, on the other hand, was about to have issues of his own when a lone hunter found him traveling the ruins on his own. With not a second later, a shot rung throughout the halls with the bullet itself missing the small bird off by an inch before it takes off into the air in the next instant with a quickness that escaped the hunter's eyes. Only when he felt a sharp pain pass through his hand did he hear his rifle clatter onto the ground. His hand was twisted wrongly as if it had been bashed by a mace, and another sharp pain forced him into a terrifying cry of pain as his leg suddenly gave way. Falling upon the ground, he landed with his face to the side with the view of the small, bloodied bird staring back at him. From the initial scream, more horrid ones shook the halls before a loud crack is head.

Emilia could hear the echoes of violence coming from other directions, as well as gunfire. No doubt caused by Minh and Cheepie. Good, their enemies might think them more numerous than they really are. Their own forces would be split, and making it harder for them to set up any defenses or traps. Though any that were set up would be much harder to get past alone. Still, Emilia figured she should be able to handle it, especially with the rifle she had recovered. She continued down her hallway until she encountered a small antechamber. She quickly found cover, then poked her head from behind it and looked around... nothing. No one was here, right now anyway. Something didn't feel right. She felt like this might be a trap. She stepped out from behind her cover, still wary. The sound of her own footstep seemed wrong, though. It wasn't that of a metal boot on stone but... on metal. She looked down to see a pressure plate that had been placed by one of the hunters before her. Only one thought ran through her mind, shit. She dove off to the side, figuring any trap would be in the center or behind her, and she was right. An explosion rocked the ruins. She was able to avoid the shockwave, fortunately, but the way behind her collapsed. She rose to her feet, having let go of her spear and shield, and pulled the rifle from her back. "Not good. Not good at all." She took cover, expecting more opponents to show up any time now. This was very very not good. Still, she should provide a decent distraction, and draw a fair number of opponents her way, allowing Minh and Cheepie to move with more freedom, and hopefully find the Hunter himself. There was cover here, thick stone walls about chest-high. She could see all three entrances from where she was and wouldn't have to watch her back. It was a defensible location, but it would also be hard to leave. She had a feeling she could be held down for a while. She should have enough ammo for a good fight, though.

Minh was making his way down the hall in a slow stride, being cautious of everything as there was a very clear danger present with all these hunters accompanying what seemed to be an even greater mage. In fact, the whole ordeal could go very badly if they were to be caught out one by one by this man, but Minh was confident in Emilia's survival capabilities as well as Cheepie's while he walked to the end of the hall to approach an open door. It was not barricaded nor were there any guards posted out in front to watch out for anyone coming. Perhaps that was the duty of the others that he had killed, and a sudden realization passed him that one of them might've been required to come back to report on the success of the defensive set up. In which case, he might as well have been walking into a trap.

He sets his acquired weapons off to the wall opposite of the open door before making his way forward through the door only to have several high-grade explosions roar around him before he is buried under several piles of heavy stone followed by cries from what is probably a small group of men. The room was filled with dust and Minh only had enough time to have a glance at the foes. There were two gun placements up above with another hunter who was probably the leader of the group as well as two men on the ground.

    -Land Shark-

With a quickness of will, Minh drifted through the debris back to the wall where he settled the weapons, picking up the auto cannon before unleashing a shot straight into the general direction of one of the placements to hear a smaller explosion as well as a shout. Then he sunk quickly back into the earth as the dust began settling only to hear another explosion near the debris pile where he was supposed to be buried under. Probably hoping to have finished him off, but that hope was crushed when half of his body rose from the ground at the two men on the ground. Both of them shouted wildly in sheer shock and fear before Minh launch a sweeping attack. Both men fell down before trying to fire their weapon with one being partially successful until his head was riddled with bullets. The other was unconscious, so Minh had no need to kill him. For now, he was to contend with the three left above and wondered how the others were doing.

With a rush of footfalls, five treasure hunters reached her position, blocking off the three exits. She was behind cover, but she couldn't just sit here forever. She rose from her cover quickly, firing off three shots in quick succession at a one of them. Two of the bullets hit his chest before the third impacted his head, killing him. The other four open fired. Emilia was able to deflect a few of the bullets away from her with a well-timed Force Pulse as she dove back behind cover. Still, one of the bullets caught her in the back. She groaned in pain as the bullet buried itself into her back. She kneeled behind the rubble. Several more reports rang out along with the sound of bullets striking and ricocheting off stone.

She leaned around the side of the cover, firing several more shots at another, but they missed, harmlessly impacting the wall behind him. A few more shots rang out, the bullets whistling by her head as she ducked back behind cover. One down, four to go. Still pinned down. She weighed her options. How the hell was she going to get out of this? She would likely need Minh's help, but who knew where he was? It would probably take a long time for the earthen mage to show up. Blood poured down her back from her wound. She was glad to be more durable than most mages, still, it hurt. She heard a small clang from the opposite side of her cover and dove forward immediately as some sort of explosive detonated, showing her and the area around her with dust and debris. Luckily for her, this provided soft cover. They couldn't see her now, so she had a chance to relocated to a better position. She ran forward out of the dust cloud, firing at the first opponent she saw. Several of her shots missed, but enough of them impacted his chest to bring him down. More reports echoed out as she dove for cover once again. Two down, three to go.

Out of the three men above, one was injured from the explosion resulting from Minh's shot with the other two already preparing a counterattack in the form of a volley of rifle fire and a shot from the surviving autocannon placement. The rounds came first impacting Minh several times on the head and shoulders before he'd dived down only to be blown up by a direct hit from the shell as it drove through the earth before exploding violently, throwing up another cloud of debris that was covered with even more shots from the captain who shouted something to the others. Minh was not able to catch it as he was recovering from getting hit with the high-velocity rounds followed by an explosive shell from the defensive position. Both had left large scars and fractures across his front with his head having one that came down across his eye down to his chin. Though it was not as painful as one would expect, the damage was still enough to have Minh redirect his attention to the remaining gunner. Jumping up onto solid ground once more, he threw himself into the wall, traveling up until he appeared behind the gunner, smashing him forward with a palm thrust that threw the man off the wall and falling flat onto his face with a loud thud, probably knocking him out while the captain continued to fire the rest of his clip into Minh. Two strong hands grabbed the autocannon before tuning it to the side to rest its aim upon the man before firing, except his arm was more pointed at a part of the earthen wall that seemed unstable. Like he expected, the captain ducked to the side, allowing the shot to blow apart what little support was left before having it all come down upon the captain. The injured man did little to retaliate except stabilize his wound, hoping that their foe would leave him alone. Minh did just that before taking a moment to assess his situation in the room, mostly to see if there was anything of use he can pull off these men and their situated barracks.

Shots rang out in the room, echoing throughout the ruins. Bullets impacted stone, shattering small pieces off of the walls and pillars Emilia ducked and dodged among them. She could hear other shots from what sounded like cannons from elsewhere in the ruins. It seemed like Minh was dealing with resistance as well, hopefully nothing much worse than she had. Still, he seemed relatively smart when it came to fighting, and would probably be able to fight them off, and if not, he would be smart enough to run away. This, unfortunately, wasn't much of an option for her. One of her opponents reloaded and lay down suppressing fire, keeping her pinned with a pillar between them. No doubt the others were trying to flank her.

Emilia looked from side to side, making sure no one was flanking her when she saw him. One of the hunters leaned out from behind another pillar and took aim. Emilia was faster, though, already aiming her weapon in his direction as he leaned out. With two shots, he was dead, falling to the ground, his hand gripping his weapon tight enough to fire off several rounds as he fell. The bullets ricocheting around the room before coming to a rest somewhere in the walls or floor. Three down. Over halfway there. The suppressing fire paused as the treasure hunter had to reload. Emilia quickly came out of her cover to try to take a shot at him, but he had already moved behind cover of his own. It was quiet now. Her ears were ringing, but she was able to hear a footstep. She whirled around to see the fourth hunter, a woman. She fired, the shot impacting Emilia's arm as she aimed for the woman's center of mass. She jerked in reaction, throwing her aim down as she shot the woman twice in the leg. She screamed and dropped to one knee. Emilia sprinted over to her and bashed her in the face. She pulled a pistol from a holster on the woman's clothing and pressed it to her head as she moved herself behind the woman, wrapping an arm around her and lifting her up. She turned with her to face where she knew the final hunter to be. He leaned from behind the pillar he was using as cover to see Emilia's hostage. "Come out, or your bitch gets it." She hissed, pressing the gun against the woman's temple.

The hunter put down his weapon and came out from behind cover. This woman was a legal mage, she wouldn't kill an opponent who surrendered, right? Wrong. Emilia unloaded four shots into his chest, dropping him as the woman screamed in desperation and struggled against her. Emilia smacked her on the head again with the handle of the pistol. "I'll make a deal with you. You tell me where your defenses are set up and where your leader is, and I'll let you live."

"You'll just kill me like you did Ken." Emilia smacked her again. "Only if you don't tell me. I offered you a deal, and I don't back out on a deal... So what'll it be?" She asked, pulling the hammer back on the pistol. It wasn't exactly necessary given that the revolver was double action, but it certainly helped the intimidation factor.

Minh was already on the move, going deeper into the maze complex in a dire search for his foes, the main objective, as well as his allies. For now, he was on his own to deal with any more encampments that these tomb robbers had set up. What he could reason for the time being was that these men were more of a mercenary group rather than a mere robbing band, and the weapons used by them only further supported the idea that they are much more prepared than needed be. This alone led Minh to consider that this was probably not a main focus of theirs, perhaps a more extreme ulterior pursuit, but that would be something for him to worry about after this mission was over.

His rush took him down various corridors where he would come across a very particular looking mass of stone that moved with a sorta hop. Of course, he doubted the idea at first, but the little companion had his means of coincidental appearances when Minh needed him most. From the emptiness of the path behind the avian creature, Cheepie had either snuck by everything or had killed everything then decided to start sneaking. Whatever the case, he was here along with the man, and the two of them would proceed further down a corridor in hopes of either running into Emilia or finding their objective. This fevered rush was a necessity due to how little time the two legal mages probably had if these men were able to set up so deeply in the maze, and that their ambushes were getting harder and harder to overcome each time. He hoped this was the last obstacle though, since anything else more extreme would cost him more resources. That would not be in the best of interest.

Sweat ran down the woman's face as she stared into Emilia's eyes wordlessly, without answering. "Go on... you gonna make a decision, or do ya need something else to convince you I'm serious?" Emilia snarled at her once opponent now captive. She was silent still. Emilia, having none of that, drove her knee into the side of her captive's knee with a sickening crack. The woman let out a cry of pain as Emi shoved her to the floor and planted her foot on the former huntress's chest, and not very gently at that. She pressed down hard, bringing the woman's ribs to the point of cracking. "So, you gonna give me a goddamn answer or am I gonna have to break you for it? I do hope all this hesitation ain't gonna lead up to me just killing you anyway, because we could've gotten that done and over with already."

The woman glared up at her, fire still in her eyes. It seemed like she might be tempted to not tell Emilia out of spite at this point. Emilia lifted her foot off of her captive's chest to allow her to breathe and answer. "Fine... I'll tell you... bitch." Emilia grinned down at her. "That's the spirit." She said. "Go on, tell me everything. Where are all your defenses, where's your leader? Which way is the easiest path to him?" She reached down and pulled her up to her feet. "And keep in mind, I'm takin' you with me as a shield. I won't kill you, if you don't bring me into the thick of 'em. If you do, well, you'll have to worry about their bullets, too, then."

The woman hesitated a moment before starting to speak. She spoke as loudly as she could after what Emilia had done to her, regardless of the pain. She knew more reinforcements would show up to help her, and because of that, she wanted to cover their footsteps. It might not work perfectly, but to her, Emilia didn't seem the brightest perhaps, or at least not one to pay particularly close attention to her surroundings when interrogating a captive.

Minh was making his way through the maze of ruined corridors when he came across one that echoed with the sound of a woman being interrogated. It wasn't Emilia but Minh had dealt with enough isntances with the woman to know that she was most likely torturing and beating the information out of someone this time around. Though, with the volume of whoever this woman was, it was clear that she was not being loud out of pain but out of distress, one that could lead to many others converging onto their position. Both Minh and Cheepie made their way as fast as they could down that corridor.

    (360

At the same time, the calls from the interrogated female also brought the remains of her comrades coming, and they both were preparing to ambush whoever was ruining their plans to raid the temple itself. Emilia could not hear the silent yet speedy approach of the Gemstone Hunter and his band of initiates. A large crystalline spear formed in his hand before throwing it at Emilia's back with a high velocity only to be blocked by a sudden mass of dense earth as Minh made his appearance within a split second. He was already on point as soon as he came within the chamber, seeing the enemy mage in mid-throw aiming for Emilia, and with a sudden urge of action, he executed his step to make his way right over to her in the spear's path in an instant to catch it in his chest. Minh quickly grabbed the spear and tore it out from him before throwing it back at him, forcing the Gemstone Hunter to form a shield.

Cheepie, on the other hand, made his way away from Minh in a short flight up towards the side of the chamber before swooping down upon the initiates who stayed behind the mage only to find themselve brutalized by the small creature. All did not know what was happening before they saw the small sparrow slamming them off to the side and landing devastating pecks to the head. All threw random swings in alarm, unable to adapt to this foe.

Emilia grinned as she soaked in the information from her captive. Gun emplacements, the locations of various ambushes, she concluded by saying where the Gem Hunter himself was "And the hunter? He should be here any second." Damn. Emilia looked up in time to see the Gem Hunter himself throw a crystal spear, only for it to be intercepted, then thrown back by Minh.

She looked at her prisoner and spoke. "We had a deal." She then smacked her hard across the head with the barrel of the pistol, knocking the woman unconscious. "About time you showed up." She shouted out to the Gem Hunter before running and grabbing the rifles of two of the dead treasure hunters. They probably weren't fully loaded, but would be enough.

She opened fire, unleashing a storm of lead on the Hunter's shield, quickly breaking through it. The Hunter responded by leaping towards Emilia, launching himself with gems shooting upward from beneath his feat. He created a hammer of crystal as he fell down, aiming to smash her with it. "THAT'S" With an explosion, Emilia launched herself at the midair hunter, taking him by surprise as she slammed into his chest, sending him back in the direction he had come from while bouncing off of him. She took aim and fired with her rifles. One of them fired one shot before letting out a small click. Empty. The hunter pointed at Emilia and a massive crystal shot down from the ceiling, colliding with her chest and driving her down to the floor with a loud thud. He was bleeding from taking a shot though. Unfortunately, while very cool, dual wielding rifles while flying through the air lead to little in terms of accuracy, her earlier assault, however, had helped Cheepie to eliminate the remaining rookies.

Emilia returned to her feet with a jump kip and grinned at the Hunter. "You're pretty good." He snarled at her as a suit of crystal armor materialized on him. This would certainly make him more difficult to damage. "That ain't gonna help." Emi taunted as she brought the rifle to her hip and held down the trigger. Most of the shots missed, of course, but enough hit to significantly weaken his armor and chip away at a lot of it, especially around his chest.
