A Novian Mahou Shoujo

Pantheon is an alternate universe, although still populated by humans. It consists of two planets; one containing the huge city of Nova, and the other a foresty chaotic anarchy filled land of Magnus. The two planets are in constant strife, fighting and bickering over the slightest things. The threat of war hangs close by everyone's heads.

Nova is a civilized planet, ruled by the Emperor Deus Novia and Empress Cygnus Novia. The leaders are both political and religious leaders, head of the church of pantheon which worships a group of twelve gods which in return, grant magic to the wealthy.

Poverty is rampant in the outer sanctions of Pantheon, it is not but almost a lawless zone, the only thing you'd probably wouldn't get away with was cursing their highnesses in such slums. Novians take their leaders seriously, as they are the ones who are in contact with the gods which in turn, grants them protection from the Magnians.

When the Novians asked the gods for magic, they had a deal. They agreed to give them magic if they traded it for dark energy. Dark energy was everywhere in the multiverse, commonly residing in Tranzbose, a creatue spawned from clusters of dark energy, created by dark emotions or actions.

In order to receive such magic, the gods wanted young teenage girls that would vanquish the Tranzbose and channel the dark energy back to them. For the girls to be capable of such, the gods would grant them powers beyond their wildest dreams and send them to an alternate universe.

The gods are patient, therefore only one magical girl was active before Bellaria was chosen, and that girl was channeling an amazing amount of dark energy, thus making enough magic for everyone of the royal family.

Balleria was born in a quaint middle class suburb, her mother and father were both confectioners and they owned a popular confectionery in the city square. Belleria grew to love the art of confection, as it was taught to her during some of her free time. She learned many recipes and cakes, enough so that she was able to obtain a staff position in the popular confectionery in which their apartment was located above.

Balleria looked forward to a quaint little life in the suburbs, although, the empress had other plans. Cygnus was dead set on Balleria becoming a magical girl, she pestered and pestered the gods so much that one finally gave in and gave the empress permission to grant her so. It was unknown to all- even her husband as to why she desired so.

Her father was delighted when he heard the news, her daughter didn't have to slave in the confectionery all her life, she got to live as a hero to all of Nova. Her mother, on the other hand, was repulsed by the idea. Who in pantheon made by gods would want their daughter to transcend and risk her life? Although, her opinion was kept to herself as she didn't dare oppose the empress.

This news was kept from her until one fateful afternoon. Balleria (who in pantheon was known as Vellorine June) was working cashier when the empress and her military escort arrived in the confectionery. She was confused at first, and about to inquire why her highness would visit such a place, but she wasn't given the chance. Cygnus didn't give her the chance, as she swiftly swept her hand over Balleria's forehead and sent the god's blessing forth throughout the adolescent girl.

In an instant, the magic flowed through her and she was sent hurdling through dimensions towards fiorre, a land known by the gods to be rife with dark energy. When she got there, the words "You're a magical girl, Find Tranzbose and harness the dark energy" were implanted into her brain along with the name 'Bellaria'. In another instant, she knew her destiny as a magical girl, but there was one odd thing, why was she so lacking in power when she was supposed to have the power of a god?

"Well guy. Go with my partner and she will show you a sweet time with her candy. Or try to remain here, and we'll see how many times I can turn you into a little boy that wets himself in fear from the big bad half demon. hm?"

Although, Bellaria hated self loathing, she couldn't help but feel for the guy. Something was probably stirring in that pot, but to her, the pot seemed boiling hot, to dangerous to remove from the burner. She sensed there was nothing she could do to help, and she hated that feeling. But why did the guy think he was a half demon? Was there something she was missing? It seemed so, maybe demons did run rampant in Fiorre like she had originally thought. But now, even though she knew the guy was joking, she could sense a slight bit of truth in those words, it was almost as if the guy was silently crying out for help, but now she was treading on thin ice, as it was purely speculation that could landed her in hot water if incorrect.

"Sure, I'll give you a goodie bag for your trip, although that's all I can do, but I'm sure you'll find comfort on your trip. I know saying this wont help, but its probably not as bad as you think. And you'll eventually be proud of yourself if you decide to take this trip, even if you happen to be cowering in your chair, because action is always better than inaction, no matter the situation. Since you'll be making a difficult trip, i'll get you a big bag of what my mother used to make me. They're quite dear to me."

The guy wasn't gripping onto the pole for dear life anymore, so Bellaria shooed away the train conducters and mouthed asking for a minute, they nodded with gratitude and jumped back on the train.

Bellaria whisked up a bag filled to the brim with lollipops, gum drops, mini chocolate bars and various other confections that were sure to plaster a smile on his face. She also made him a chocolate cupcake with bright pink icing, although, the glimmer in her eyes faded for a moment, her thoughts wavered as she briefly thought the guy never deserved something so precious and cherished to her.

As soon as that thought entered her mind, she dismissed it. It was her duty to defend this world, no matter the sacrifice it may take. She was prepared to give up herself for this place, whom she was a foreigner. Originally, she had never loved the place, but she loved Nova, which had instructed her to vanquish evil in this new found dimension for Nova's greater good. Now she was filled with an all new energy and inspiration. She'd make her mother proud.

"Enjoy your trip!" She shouted as the guy boarded the train, she could see the hesitation in his steps, but she was quite proud of him.

Now, standing in a new light of bravery, she decided that helping another person was next on her to-do list, and this person was right next to ner.

"So, what's really bothering you? I may be overstepping my bounds, and you're an excellent actor, I can't help but feel something off about you. Is there anything you want to talk about?"
