Jin had been recently inducted in the list of Rising Stars by the Magic council. For a mage who always loved magic and idealized mages since his childhood, it was a great honor. He had been really happy to have earned that title. Honestly, he was modest enough to never aim for such a thing, he was happy with what he had accomplished. So when he was chosen for such a title, it was an amazing feeling for him. He woke up early, locked his room and along with Kaya arrived at the tavern. ”The usual please” he ordered and the bar tender nodded in reply, he was the chef but he didn’t feel like cooking today. After a little while, the bar tender arrived with a red velvet cake and some meat for Kaya. ”Thank you” said Jin, as he picked up his plate and began to indulge in the tasty desert that was supposed to be his breakfast. Despite eating so much sweet, Jin wasn’t the least bit fat; it was probably because he did jobs one after the other.

”So we’re going on another job after this, right Jinny?” inquired Kaya as she finished her breakfast. Jin was still eating his cake, since he liked it so much he was taking his time enjoying every little bite. ”Yeah, I think I better. I’ve earned this title, I should do things more worthy of it from now on” he replied thinking about it for a minute. Kaya didn’t understand much about the title of her owner but she interpreted it as something really important. She had heard some details about the magic council, so she knew that Jin had done something significant to achieve it. Finally he finished with the tasty sweet and placed the empty plate on the table along with the payment for his breakfast, he cleaned his face with a handkerchief. After that the two made their way to the notice board in order to search for a job. ”So then, which job should we go on next?” he said out loud as his eyes moved through the large number of requests.

Black Rose had now two Rising stars and had plenty of capable mages among them, it made sense to have a lot of job requests.

    The Watering Hole!:

Post by Shard 25th June 2015, 12:13 pm

Having recently received a passport allowing him to travel the young new recruit to Black Rose was eager to travel and find some new recipes whilst helping people out. It seemed the best way to do that was to take a job. The problem being was that he hadn't really taken a job before. At least not a mage guild job. After listening to some people talking it seemed that the place to go was the job board and find a job on there and apply to take it.

It for such a reason that he arrived in the notice board area and was too perusing the job list. There was a rather large number of jobs to pick from. More than he could ever do in a lifetime or so he felt. What with his other duties as a cook and his own ambitions in that direction. Still, as part of the guild he should probably do some jobs to help the guild. It was also a good way to make money so he could buy new utensils and finance research. Yes, overall it seemed the best thing to do.

He was looking among the job requests when one caught his eye. It mentioned someone trying to steal some beer in the possibility of trying to steal the recipe. Now as a chef he understood the sacredness of recipes. Sure he learned a lot on his travels, but he only took recipes when he had permission or instead created his own ones based on them so he never copied the recipe directly. Still, he was curious about the beer if it was that good someone had got hooked enough to try and steal it. I mean why not just pay for it? Surely that would be easier? "This one looks interesting." he said out loud to himself as he began reaching towards it. He would defend the tavern from these villains and taste the beer himself. It might provide inspiration for his own beer making which he felt was a bit lacking. He paused and looked at it. "Damn...I need another C rank to do it." The whole rank thing bugged him. Surely, if one was skilled enough it didn't matter how powerful they were? I mean, really?

he morning started out usual when Myra entered through the gates of Black Rose, closely followed by Senshi. A sigh escaped her lips and she turned around and placed her hands on her hip. She looked at the tall red headed man standing before her, "Senshi, are you sure you want to go on a job with me? You still need to get used to being around human." The dragonoid looked down at her and simply nodded. She wasn't very satisfied with it which she proved by keeping her gaze locked with his. "Myra, I'm sure that I want to go on the job." The female mage couldn't convince him to stay and she knew that he would be great help on jobs. She conveyed her approval through a sigh of defeat.

She swore she saw a small smile playing on his lips, which is very rare considering that Senshi is not much of a social butterfly. he doesn't talk much, doesn't smile, doesn't laugh so seeing his smile made her grin. If jobs excite him, the least she could do was let her accompany him. The pink haired female walked over to the request board to see an unfamiliar person already standing there. She hadn't seen him before so assuming that he was new, she felt obliged to introduce herself and maybe even help him on a job. She walked over towards him, "Hello, My name is Myra. Are you new to the guild? I don't think I've seen you around." After exchanging greetings, her blue gaze wandered to the paper he held in his hand. "Is that a job?"

She scanned through the detail, "This seems interesting. Mind if I come along?" After waiting for his reply, her eyes darted to Jin who too just came to the request board and searched for a job to do, "Jin, you want to come along with us on a job?" She held out the paper for Jin to read. Her eyes shifted to Senshi, who was carefully observing the request board and the jobs on it. He looked mesmerized as he read through them. The female couldn't help but smile.

Post by Okura Jin 26th June 2015, 9:24 am

Two more Black Rose mages were already searching the notice board before him and upon his arrival he was greeted by a familiar face. ”Sure, I’d love to come along” replied Jin as usual before even reading what the job was; typical since he couldn’t say ‘no’ to others. Myra probably was aware of that now and part of Jin thought that she was kind of using that but he saw no harm in it. He realized that the other mage was someone Jin had never met before and from the looks of it, he was the one who originally had the job request in his hand. Jin grabbed the flyer and cast a gaze at it but didn’t read much, he looked at the new mage: ”Hi, I’m Jin, I believe this was originally chosen by you. Would you mind if both of us came along?”, Myra was a kind individual but she might be interpreted as a tad bit bossy in this situation. Jin didn’t want that, he wanted the first impression of both of them to be a bit better than that. Sure they were Black Rose mages to begin with and neither of them had a perfect personality but still.

Meanwhile, Kaya noticed that Jin was familiar with Myra and hadn’t introduced her to the female mage. Also, she hadn’t been introduced to the new male either; Jin was being mean again, so thought Kaya. Jin wasn’t ignoring his beloved pet he was a bit focused on the newbie and the job, so he thought he would introduce Kaya a little bit later. Kaya didn’t like that and thus pounced on to Myra, well technically she pounced onto Myra’s pants but that didn’t stop her. She hugged Myra’s leg and after Myra would notice the chibi saber tooth tiger she would look up and introduce herself: ”Hi, I’m Kaya!! I bite you now!”, after that she would gently bite her leg which shouldn’t feel that much since she was harmless in her chibi form. Jin chuckled at that and was a bit embarrassed, ”haha, Yes that’s Kaya; she’s my pet” said Jin looking at both the Black Rose mages.

Post by Shard 26th June 2015, 12:35 pm

Magna was surprised when he was approached by quite an attractive female mage. Normally, due to being in an environment he was comfortable with this wouldn't fluster him too much, but suddenly being spoken to out of the blue by an attractive, older, female when you were a 15 year old boy(no matter how well travelled you were) tended to make you a tad flustered and he actually blushed slightly. The fact she was accompanied by another person just added to it. Generally the only thing that reddeneed his cheeks was the heat of the ovens or a bit of sunburn. "New to the guild yes. New to the building no." he said hurriedly but didn't bother explaining himself he in that much of a tizzy. "I'm Magna." he added introducing himself. "I'm a cook." he added as a quick after thought. He was still talking quite quickly trying to process the situation despite his flustered state. "Errr...sure why not." was his response to her other question about joining him on the job. Someone who knew the guild well enough to know someone was new was probably useful on a job.

Before he could speak anymore though she was suddenly inviting someone else on the job. He raised a hand as if to interrupt. Surely, he got to decide who came on the job. He found it right? Or was there some kind of hierachy he wasn't yet aware of. It seemed he got his answer because suddenly this third person was asking him if it was ok to go. He was about to response when suddenly a small saber tooth tiger leaped past him and pounced onto the pretty girl. "Yeah that should be fine. Its my first proper job as a mage so the more the merrier" Then he thought for a moment and pulled out his kitchen knife. It was pretty much useless in combat and not even that good for cooking. It just didn't take a decent edge for some reason. However, there was a reason he had brought it out. With a swish and flick of his wrist the knife vanished into a ball of light which floated away before reforming into a 7ft tall knight. His armor was predominantly white with gold trim. Upon his knees and elbows were crimson dragons and upon his large shoulders were large crimson pauldrons from which draped a red cape with gold trim along the bottom. On the centre of his helmet was a large green gem from which extended two dragon like decorative wings. His feet were large and spikes and his gauntlets were clawed.

"This is Aegis. He's kind of my guardian." he said as it seemed everyone else had brought a friend he thought he'd bring out his. "Say hello." The knight looked at Magna and then at the others and nodded his head before bowing slightly. "He....doesn't talk much. Well, except straight into my head." With that the figure dissolved into light that trailed along the floor, swirled up Magna's leg, crawled across his stomach, twirled up his arm and reformed into the kitchen knife which he quickly returned to its pride and place on the holster at his waist.

large smile appeared on the females face when the small tiger jumped on her leg and began biting it lightly. Her eyes drifted to Senshi, who is a very protective of her. he takes every situation very carefully. Sometimes, Myra thinks that he needs to loosen up. She was relieved to see that Senshi did not see this small tiger as a threat because he did not seem alarmed, rather he stared at the creature in awe and amazement. The female could tell why, Jin's pet Kaya was adorable. The female bend down and picked the small sabertooth tiger into her arms and pet it.

The new boy, Magna had agreed to let the two mages accompany his on this quest. He then pulled out a knife with which he slashed the air and soon standing before the mages, was a seven-feet tall knight in a beautiful armor. the female was mesmerized to say the least. She had never before seen a creature of this sort. The knight's name was Aegis and he was a guardian, Magnas guardian to be more specific. his demeanor reminded her a lot of her own friends. He didn't talk much other than to his master, if that were the right word. After he returned back into the form of a kitchen knife, the female thought that it would be nice to introduce Senshi to them, since neither of them had seen him before.

She looked at the tall red-headed man, "Well, I think it's time I introduce Senshi to you. This is my..friend, Senshi." Myra never felt the like the man was her pet. he might be a dragonoid but he was her friend, and she would treat him like she treats all of her friends, "He's actually a dragonoid. This will be his first mission." She smiled as Senshi nodded his head in acknowledgement of the other two mages, 'Hello." Was all he said. "He's not much of a talker either." She could tell that he was feeling awkward. Senshi, at that point, did not know how to react. he was still getting used to being around humans so there wasn't much he wanted to say, not yet at least. All he knew was that if Myra needed his help in battle, he would fight by her side.

Jin smiled and greeted the slightly confused mage, it appeared he was a bit shy; that also implied that he had a kind heart. With Kaya’s intrusion, everyone introduced their comrades in arms. Magna’s guardian was a transforming knife, something that Jin had never seen before. He didn’t knew that knives could do that, was he some sort of legendary creature like his pet? That was most likely, this meant that the world of magic had a lot of things that Jin didn’t know. It made him happy to realize that, he had been a magic fanatic his whole life. Kaya was busy being pampered by Myra; despite that, she greeted the guardian: ”Hello guardy!”. Kaya’s habit of giving nicknames was only getting worst, she had a nickname for everyone she had ever met. May be it was a way of remembering people, or annoying them or both, Jin wasn’t sure about it. The remaining individual was introduced as Myra’s comrade, someone Jin hadn’t seen before in their jobs together. ”Hello Senshi” replied Jin and Kaya turned to look at him, ”Hello Senny!!”. Jin could only shake his head at Kaya’s shenanigans.

They had all introduced one another and Magna had agreed to both Jin and Myra accompanying him on the job. So what were they waiting for then? ”Now that we all know each other, let’s inform Sophie or Kakuma and get a move on. What’s the location of the job?”, Myra was the one holding the job flyer so he looked at her. After hearing her answer, he would set off to inform Sophie since finding Kakuma was a more daunting task. While the group would await his arrival, he would hurry up and get the permission for them and rejoin them at the guild’s hall. ”Alright, I’ve spoken to Sophie; we’re approved for the job. Let’s go” said Jin as he looked at Kaya who was probably still bothering either Myra or Magna. The group would then set off on their journey, heading to the location where they were supposed to meet the client.

The initial journey would begin by a trip on the large plant based ships, a signature means of transportation for Black Rose mages. Jin was used to it and actually looked forward to it each time and so did Kaya.

All the introductions were now done. Everything was ready to go and after Jin dissapeared briefly it was confirmed that they were approved for the job. It seemed that Sophie, the woman he had met on his first day here, was important in some way as she had been needed to be consulted before they were approved. He looked at his new companions for this job. It seemed that he would be going with some pretty experienced mages and it seemed they had quite a large group. What could possibly go wrong?

"So how do we get where we are going to?" he asked them curiously looking at the three. He was curious as to what a dragonoid was. He hadn't come across such a creature before. Were they people with dragon blood or something and just looked human? Or was this human form just an elaborate disguise? It was certainly something he looked forward to finding the answer to. It seemed everyone had secrets within this guild. Those secrets helped build the people. Like a recipe of some kind. Without secrets people would be plain and wouldn't be at all interesting to sample.

He had his own secrets. Most of them recipes, but also those of his past particularly that of his family history. He wondered, as this guild seemed to be built on the old criminal organization's grounds if the guild would have any record of those events. They weren't an official guild recognised by the magic council so a few dodgy deals wouldn't be too out of the question. Still, from what he had seen of the guild so far that didn't seem like it would be a thing. He wondered why they hadn't been officially registered. Just another secret waiting to be found out. This truly was a rather delicious guild.

"Its the mountain village right? Quite a trek by foot from here." he said thinking about the place in question. He hadn't been there, but he'd been nearby. Walking would take a significant amount of time. He didn't know if the guild had other forms of transportation. Perhaps a carriage of some kind? Or an airship. He'd seen some guilds had those on his journies.

verybody had gotten to know one another from the surface but the real introduction would take place when they all do the job together, Myra thought. When Jin had asked her about the location to which they were heading, "It's the mountain village." The female was excited about this job because her dear ally would be accompanying her. Senshi, on the other hand was a little nervous. His facial expressions never seemed to show it but the dragonoid was apprehensive about this mission. It would be his first after all. The pink haired female turned to Magna, "Since we're on an island, we usually travel by ships or boats and depart from the ports." And this time too, it would be the same.

As Jin went to Sophie to get the job approved, his pet, Kaya circled around Senshi, whom she had so enthusiastically and lovingly nicknamed 'Senny'. The little tiger was one of a kind. Myra had never before seen such a small and avid creature before. Looking at the the young tiger made the female mage smile. Senshi, being an tight lipped individual that he is, didn't seem to like a lot of people. He was always uptight and alarmed but he didn't seem to mind Kaya. He looked down to his feet just to see the small creature, due to his large height. The dragonoid bend down and carefully picked up the sabertooth tiger whom Myra had put down not too long ago, and observed it as it played within his hands. He held it so gently and carefully as if Kaya were a fragile being.

Jon returned moments later with the job approved, and the three mages were ready to go. The three made their way to the port from where they would be departing towards the mountain village. The sound mage had never been there before and knew not where it was but hopefully the sailor of the ship would know, they always do. The female boarded the ship and noticed that her ally was hesitant. Him being a dragonoid, liked to fly rather than board a ship but he did it anyways. The three mages departed from the island and were off to go accomplish a mission as Black Rose mages.

Post by Okura Jin 1st July 2015, 8:53 am

The three Black Rose mages accompanied by a pet, a guardian and a friend embarked on the large plant vessel. They set sail for the nearest port to the mountain village, it would take them quite a few hours of walking after they would arrive at the port. Jin didn’t like that part since the job request clearly stated that they were needed there in a hurry. ”Well we don’t have much choice in the matter anyways”. Kaya was all happy and oblivious to the world around her since she was getting attention from Myra and Senshi. For a little attention craver, that was the world that she always dreamed of. She would meddle with Myra then run to Senshi or try getting some attention from Magnus when he wasn’t looking. These two mages were like Jin, they were kind and warm; at least he could say that for sure about Myra, he would have to find out more about Magnus. Jin had a feeling that he was still right about Magnus being a kind individual at heart. To kill some time and find out more about their new comrade, Jin decided to indulge in a conversation. ”So Magnus, what kind of magic do you use?” he inquired from the newer member. He was aware of Myra’s magic in fact he had seen it quite a few times and Myra was aware of his. Surely, Myra would want to know about Magnus’s magic too.

Meanwhile, the ship continued to make its way to their destination. The wind was blowing was gentle and easy, Kaya was by now sitting near Jin and dozing off. She had enjoyed the attention that had been given to her and was now full for the time being. The captain of the ship noticing two familiar faces decided to pay the Black Rose mages a visit. ”Well, if it isn’t Jin and Myra. Off to another job I presume?” inquired the captain looking at the two mages. Kaya looked up to notice the familiar captain, who occasionally treated her to some leftover meat from time to time. ”Cappy!!” she said as she charged at him and was lifted up by him, ”Hello to you too, little one”.

It seemed their choice of transportation was that of a ship. An interesting choice, but a simple one. The journey itself would be quite relaxing. He quite enjoyed boat travel though the food often left much to be desired. The small sabertooth creature kept trying to get his attention and he was quite happy to tussle the creature's fur. It felt nice against the hand. He raised an eyebrow when he was asked about his magic and in response he stood up. "It doesn't really have a name though those who practise it are known as the Coquendum Magus." he replied and then grinned. With a swift motion he pulled off a white cloth that was tied around his arm and tied it to his head. He focused channelling a bit of magic power and then generated a frying pan and a small flame. The flame was suspended in the air yet didn't seem to spit any sparks. He smiled and gestured with his hand and a bottle appeared dropping oil into the pan. This was followed quickly by bacon and sausages that appeared out of nowhere. "Well, as we are travelling we might as well enjoy ourselves." he said happily as the gorgeous smell of frying bacon and sausages drifted through the sea air. The natural saltiness of the air should help add to the flavour. "As you can see my magic revolves around cooking. Don't worry it has applications outside cooking too."

It seemed that the two mages he were accompanying were, as he had guessed, experienced mages. They had been on jobs before. Enough so that the captain of the ship recognised them and was willing to come over and greet them. He even knew Kaya and seemed quite happy to play with her. It seemed that despite not being registered as an official guild it the Black Rose was well known for their jobs. He was honestly now quite surprised that he had not heard of them before. Then again he hadn't really been in the country that much recently in the past three years and with the exception of huge events he didn't really pay attention to mage guilds. Well, until now of course. The guild really was a tasty recipe with lots of great ingredients.

he breeze was light as the shop sailed through the sea. The female leaned onto one of the sides of the ship and took in the view. She had always liked the view of the sea. The three mages, along with their companions were headed towards the mountain village. The journey was peaceful as the wizards talked. Myra and Jin knew each other and each others abilities, so listening to Magna's magic was interesting. His magic was none like the female had ever heard of. Her blue gaze shifted to Senshi, who gazed into the water. His tall figure just stood there and stared. After a little bit of chit chat between the mages and with the captain to appeared to greet the two mages, and acknowledged Magna, the female sighed as she waited for their destination to arrive.

Not long after, the vehicle halted in front of a large mountains that protected the small village, serving as a natural barrier. Many people did not know of the village because it was completely hidden behind the mountains. "There we go. You all be careful and go accomplish that mission." The captain said as the three mages got off the boat. Myra smiled at him, "Thank you for the rise and we will." Senshi looked around the mountains as he sniffed the air, "The village is straight ahead, but we would have to walk a lot." Maybe bringing him was a good idea, Myra thought. Senshi, being a dragonoid has an incredible nose. He can point out where the scent came from. He must have sniffed the scent radiated from the village, "Thank you Senshi." Myra stated as they began walking towards the village that lay behind these heaps of mountains.

Their client must be a citizen of the village. When they had reached the village, the place seemed peaceful. A few people could be spotted and the place was covered with small cottages and stalls. Senshi sniffed the air once again, "The smell of beer is coming from the right side." The female nodded and looked at her partners, "Let's go meet our client."

Post by Okura Jin 5th July 2015, 12:32 pm

Jin was a fan of magic, he loved it; this was a unique kind of magic he had never seen before. More ever, Magna was a cook too, may be Jin could learn from him. The way Magna handled the summoned frying pan and his cooking technique reflected on his experienced skill. ”Your technique is elegant and the smell of food is refined. I think I’m going to need you to teach me in the fine arts of cooking”, he said as he looked at how Magna prepared the food for them. Jin wasn’t worried if Magna’s magic could be used for other purposes or not. He never thought magic as means for war or battles, that was just a side effect in his opinion.

Finally after some chit chat and travelling they arrived at the port of the mountain village. There was still a long way to go though as Myra’s friend had pointed out. The sense of smell of a saber tooth tiger was refined as well so Kaya didn’t like that Senshi or Senny was getting the spot light. Being an attention craver, she was slightly unhappy that the guy who had been quiet the entire time was now guiding them. She could’ve done that too, Jin noticed that and couldn’t help but smile. A friendly rivalry wasn’t a bad thing, may be Kaya might end up learning a thing or two from Senshi. He didn’t plan on getting involved and he suspected that Senshi wasn’t even aware of Kaya’s feelings. He knew that despite her slight agitation, Kaya would never feel any hostility towards a friend. Myra’ words made Kaya even more jealous, Jin too nodded in appreciation.

”We should probably hurry, the job request did say so”, Jin was someone who couldn’t say ‘no’ to anyone. The job flyer said ‘hurry’ so he was going to hurry, if that meant nagging his friends then so be it. It was almost like he had no control over it, it was like a built in function that could not be altered. It took the group a few hours before they came in visual range of the bar. ”There it is, it’s almost dark. Our timing isn’t too bad”, he was quite sweaty by now. The group did comprise of mages but moving around mountains is no ordinary task.

Post by Shard 5th July 2015, 2:26 pm

It seemed his cooking techniques had impressed. He was actually quite surprised that it had only taking his cooking, even if it used magic to some extent, to impress these much more experienced guild mages. He was quite happy about that and it seemed they enjoyed his food greatly. "To pass on one's skills and see them used by another is a great honour for a chef, but don't think you'll be learning all my recipes. A chef has to have some secrets right?" he winked at that and chuckled.

It wasn't that long before they arrived at the port, but as Magna knew from his travels it was still a long way to go. On top of that Senshi showed off very impressive nasal skills. He tried sniffing the air himself, but couldn't catch a whiff of anything except the sea and its surroundings. He was considered incredibly gifted in the nose department able to identify most, if not all, ingredients in a recipe from scent alone and that combined with his taste made it practically a guarantee unless the ingredient wasn't one he had tasted or smelled before. "You have a very impressive nose." he said honestly. "I'm kinda jealous." He was not one to lie that often unless he really had to and he saw no reason to lie now.

Eventually they arrived at the village just as night was beginning to fall. Once more Senshi showed off his impressive sense of smell being able to identify the area where the tavern was by scent alone. Again Magna tried to replicate the feat, but once more he was left dissapointed. His sense of smell was good, but Senshi was on a whole different level. Perhaps it was because he was a dragonoid, whatever that was. He turned before they entered the village. "What a beautiful sunset." he commented taking in the rich pinks, oranges and reds as the sun dipped down. He really was quite an aesthetic person. After all, sight was often half of what made a person hungry. You could make the most delicious meal in the world, but if it looked like crap then people wouldn't eat it. Or at least not as readily as other dishes.

Seeing the state the group were in, including himself, with sweat and exhaustion he paused briefly and then summoned up a bottle of water for each of them, and a bowl for Kaya as he couldn't see her being able to drink from a bottle. "Its got a few herbs and stuff in. Should help us get our energy back." he explained as he began to drink some of his. "Drink it slowly though or the effect won't be as strong."

(Hoping this is fine. Its not really doing anything to help them. Just kinda plotty so they don't end up in the pub covered in sweat and dehydrated.)

The sky was indeed beautiful, just like Magna had pointed out. Myra smiled as the boy admitted that he was jealous yet the female sensed no bitterness in his voice. The female was sure that Senshi would get along well with the rest of the members. Her thoughts were interrupted as young chef give Jin and herself a small bottle, "That's impressive." She cracked an ear-splitting grin before taking a small gulp of the drink, following Magna's advice The drink was surprisingly good. Usually drinks that restore energy are supposed to be sour and have a horrible taste, at least that's what she heard; but this energy restoring drink was incredibly delicious.

She sipped the drink slowly as they stood in the small village; their destination. Not quite. The female held the bottle in her hand and looked around. Her blue gaze landed on a tavern that stood there, as if no one had been there in a long time. As the mages approached the tavern, the smell of beer increased and clung to the air. The female waved her hand over her nose as the smell was too much too bear, but the wizards had a job to complete. The female knocked on the door of the tavern, from behind which, moments later, emerged a man carrying a stick, "I'll show you rotten theive-" His gaze landed upon the three mages and their acquaintances, "Who are you?" Their client was a short, scrubby man with a pot belly. He had overgrown facial hair and nearly none on his bald head and most importantly; he wreaked of beer. The horrible stench seems to be coming more from him than his little alcohol storage.

"We're wizards from Black Rose. We're here for the job request that you sent." Recognition broke his face but his frown remained intact as he studied the three mages, "You're the people who are going to help me?" He chuckled, "You kids should go and play your games elsewhere. I don't deal with brats." The female kept her calm. This job was going to be hard, and not just because if the thieves.

Post by Okura Jin 13th July 2015, 9:34 am

Jin laughed as Magna said he won’t be sharing his secrets. ”As long as you teach me how to cook properly, I don’t need those recipes”. He only wanted to improve on his cooking, making new recipes or pondering over the recipes of another wasn’t his interest. He wasn’t a chef because he liked cooking or because it was his passion. He was a chef because the job was given to him by Kakuma in their C-rank exam. Now that he had been cooking for a while and since he had no choice but to fulfill his responsibilities, he might as well get better at it.

Kaya was not pleased, Senshi did the task of using his sense of smell to guide the group. She could’ve done that too but Senshi was the one who took the initiative. Not only that, he was praised for it too. ”I hope she behaves herself, if she throws a tantrum here I wonder what’ll happen”, a small drop of sweat made its way down Jin’s face. He didn’t want to think what would happen if Kaya threw a fit. As he had suspected, Kaya was already staring at Senshi. ”hmph I could’ve done that” she said looking away as she pretended not to be annoyed, little did she knew it actually meant the opposite.

By the time they arrived, the sun was already setting. Jin too turned to look at the beautiful scene and cherish it. The gentle sun light as it faded away and the red sky was a sight to behold. For a moment, they were quite as they cherished the scene. The silence was immediately broken as Kaya jumped up and spoke before anyone else: ”Ha! I could smell the sun set! Bleeeehhhh!!!” she said sticking her tongue out to Senshi. Jin’s face almost turned red because of the embarrassment, he didn’t know what to say. ”Uhhh Kaya, it doesn’t have any scent” he said in a low tone. Kaya turned and stuck her tongue out to Jin too: ”You wouldn’t know cuz you can’t smell it, bleeehhh!!!”, well that was sort of a valid point. In any case, Jin didn’t know what to reply so he turned to look at Magna who had then offered the group some refreshment.

Jin slowly drank the water and Kaya too drank from the bowl that Magna had summoned for her. ”Thank you, Impressive indeed”, he said agreeing with Myra as he began to feel refreshed already. After that the group arrived at the bar and were greeted by an old beer maker. It was almost like déjà-vu, he could recall something similar happening to him and Myra in the past. ”The name’s Jin, we are mages from Black Rose; not just kids” he said with a serious tone. He wouldn’t mind being called a kid but his friends were being underestimated here too. ”Jin? That Rising Star?” the man’s eyes turned as he looked at Jin from head to toe and then back up. Well, the title was not for nothing, his fame had reached even this remote area. In any case it was useful at the very least, they were allowed to enter the stinking beer tavern. The stench was so much that Jin had to tie a cloth at Kaya’s nose since it was too sensitive. Sometimes having a sensitive nose backfired.

Kaya truly was young it seemed, but her attitude to being defeated in something she apparently prided herself in was more than he expected. Was she perhaps spoiled by Jin or some previous companion? Confidence in your skill was one thing, over confidence was another, but arrogance of this level...surprised him. He himself was young. He'd been a cooking prodigy from a young age, but he couldn't remember a time when he had been as bad as Kaya was being and that was saying something considering he was blessed with an eidetic memory.

"So what does the sunset smell like then Kaya? I'm curious." he decided to humour her and potentially, if he could steer the situation correctly turn her statement into an ingredient that lead to her own embarassment and perhaps would tone down her arrogance a little. He doubted he would get much of an answer and if he didn't even get one then it didn't bother him unduly.

It seemed that his drink had been greatly appreciated and the group seemed to be enjoying it. "I would of provided you a better restorative, but I don't have the ingredients in my storage at the moment. The milk it uses is quite hard to come by." he said with a slight sadness to his tone. He liked to provide the best of the best and the drink he had in his mind was an incredibly powerful physical restorative. It was said, though not by him, that it gave one the energy to run for twelve hours straight. He'd never tested that theory, but still it was an impressive thing for someone to say.

The bartender seemed quite annoyed that young mages like themselves had come to take the job. Very annoyed indeed. It was almost like he didn't believe they were black rose mages at all. However, Jin's reputation proceeded him and eventually they were allowed into the bar. However, he had to wrap his own nose with the cloth he normally kept bound around his head or wrist. Why? Well, that was simple. Whilst his nose didn't have the same strength as Kaya's or Senshi's it was incredibly sensitive. This went double for when it involved ingredients so the stale beer smell was really getting to him. He couldn't honestly see why anyone would want to steal from a place that smelled as bad as this. The beer itself would have to be fantastic. He was curious as to how good it was. It was a shame he was too young to drink, but maybe he could get the recipe and start selling samples of it on his travels to attract more clientele to the bar. "So we here you have a problem with some thieves?" he said trying to sound professional.

It was a lucky thing for the mages that Jin was known throughout Fiore because of his title as a rising star. The female sighed as tiredness overcame her body and the stench of beer entered her nose. She covered her nose and Senshi mimicked her actions as the old, grubby man led them inside the tavern. The place was small as the color brown blinded the females vision. Everything was made of wood, from the bar to the tables, except the glasses and beer bottles.

The small place had an ancient look to it. A few tables stood beneath a couple of used glasses. A small sigh escaped the mans lips as he looked at the only one other than himself who was in that place, a man in his late twenties. The man had his head down and his hand held a large cup of beer. "Ignore him. That idiot drank too much and passed out. He won't wake up." The old man said in an annoyed tone, "Anyways, I need you to get rid of those thieves who steal my stuff.

They usually come around any time of the day but they come here very single day. I'll leave you to it." He said as he grabbed his jacket, "And if I find a single barrel of my precious hard work is missing, You're not getting a single penny." He dusted his hat and placed it over his head. Myra then spoke up, "Don't worry. We'll do out best to keep your recipe from being stolen. You can count on us."

The man nodded then walked towards the door, "I have to go home to my wife. I'm sure you won't have a problem here." He glanced at the unconscious man, "He'll probably be asleep till morning so ignore him." With that, he left the three mages to accomplish their job.

Mere minutes after the owner's disappearance, The dragonoids eyes flickered to his right at a small movement, "He's awake." This made Myra follow his gaze, which lead to the drunk man who was seemingly asleep. The man slowly lifted his head, a small smirk on his face, "Well, well, didn't expect the old man to have backup." His smirk widened, "Good thing that I brought back up too."

Kaya was caught off guard with the counter question that had just presented itself thanks to Magna. Jin could barely contain his laugh, he was sure Kaya had no answer for that. For a moment she was quite but then she turned to Magna and replied: ”The sunset smells like the sunset, ne ne”. Jin shook his head discouraging Kaya’s bratty behavior but he was sure she would impervious to his gestures for the time being. She needed some behavior adjustment but it would take time. He was a patient one so he didn’t mind taking time to teach Kaya how to behave properly.

Jin walked towards Magna and patted him on the shoulder, shaking his head: ”This is something we didn’t expect, you should take pride in your accomplishment”. The significance of the insignificant, it was a lesson he had begun to learn too. As he learned, he wanted his close friends to realize it as well since it would prove useful.

The group was later taken inside the smelly tavern and found one drunk that they were told to ignore. As Jin had said earlier, they had arrived just in time. The tavern owner also told them that it was about the time the thieves began to attempt and raid the tavern. This implied that they had little or no time to lay traps like Jin and Myra had done once before. Laying traps made things a lot easier but doing so required time. The tavern owner left the building in the care of the three Black Rose mages and their companions and departed. Soon after he did so, the thieves showed themselves thinking they could best the group.

The one drunk individual turned out to be a thief and he was accompanied by two other drunkards as well. Were they seriously going to take on the professional mages? They appeared to have some trouble standing and they were thinking of brawling. Jin could only shake his head in disappointment but before he could do so, something strange was suddenly hurled towards him which took him by surprise. The dark magic propagated towards him and pushed him towards the wall, making him crash into it. The result were quite a few broken chairs and a large smoke cloud. ”One down” said the attacker arrogantly, foolishly thinking that something that weak would take out Jin.

Kaya's answer was at first silence and Magna thought he had perhaps got the better of her and that this might calm her behaviour for the time being. However, she managed to come up with an answer and he frowned slightly. That was unfortunate. He had thought his comment would be a winning recipe, but it seemed he was mistaken. He smiled slightly at Jin's comment about him being proud of his accomplishment. "A good chef should always have the right ingredients or his client's will be dissapointed." he said with a shrug. It was a bit of a sticking point with him. He liked to be able to give people the best of his abilities.

Eventually they entered the tavern and were told that there was a drunk who could be ignored as he wouldn't wake up. The owner left soon after which was quite dissapointing. Magna had wanted to ask some pointers on beer making. Not the recipe itself, but more just some tips and pointers. Oh well, there was time for that later.

Before he had much of a time to dwell on it the drunkard suddenly 'woke up' and two others joined him out of nowhere. With a blast of dark magic he sent Jin flying and said that one of them was down. Magna's eyes flared red and he pulled out his knife.

"Careful kid you might cut yourself." the dark mage said preparing a spell. Magna said nothing and the knife began to glow causing the mage to prepare another ball of darkness. Before he did though Aegis had appeared and launched a powerful punch sending the man flying. It was at that point that three others stepped out from the shadows. A total of six men. They all looked pretty rough and tough. Unfortunately, some of his best combos for fighting involved fire and he couldn't really use that in such an environment or he'd wreck the joint with explosions.

"I'll make you guys an offer." Magna said calmly. The men leered at him wondering what such a young mage could offer to them. "We take this outside and if you beat all of us...the beer is yours and we won't stand in your way. But if we beat all of you then you leave this pub alone for good"

"Why should we waste our time with that?" one of the men said with a leer conjuring up a ball of darkness. Magna just grinned. It was time to add the next ingredient to his recipe for getting these people outside and safely away from the tavern.

"Well, if you don't think you can beat three kids, a knight and a cat with all your magic..." Magna said with a shrug. "...then you might as well just leave now. Right?" The men all looked at eachother. Failing to accept would ruin their reputation even if they got away with the beer.

"Fine. We will play your little game. We got ya word kid? We beat you and you let us take what we want?" The mage said dispelling the ball of darkness and heading towards the door. Magna nodded and held a hand out for the man to shake.

"On my honour as a chef." the man shook his hand and spoke a single word.

"Deal." With that all of the men, including the one Aegis had punched who didn't seem to be that hurt, walked outside and Magna rushed over to help Jin. Aegis meanwhile walked outside to keep an on the mages. They wouldn't wait long though so Magna had to be quick. He didn't have any healing spells so the best he could do was pull some of the rubble off of him. He wondered how Myra and Jin would think he handled the situation. He'd decided to use a skill every good chef should have: the ability to deal with a rude customer.

Impressive. Magna indeed had rather impressive qualities. His way of convincing enemies to do his bidding was a quality every mage should possess. Shielding her thoughts with her will to fight, Myra and Senshi immediately rushed outside along with Magna's guardian as Magna himself stayed back to help Jin. The six mages stood prepared... and drunk. The female knew not how they would manage to fight but their drunken state might turn out to be a threat.

Like always, the mages would have to have belief in themselves and give this fight their all. Three mages pulled out their guns while the others seemed to have a dark aura surrounding their hands. All of them raised their hands and together, launched a ball of darkness towards the female. Instantly, she felt her feet off the ground. She looked up to see a familiar, larger than average human, dragoinoid. Senshi had switched forms and gotten her out of the way.

He quickly placed her on the ground and opened his mouth, launching invisible sound waves towards the enemy. This sent two of the men flying backwards at a distance of at least fifteen meteres. The female used this as a distraction, "Sonic Blast" Three large speakers formed around the men and instantly blasted music loud enough to make eardrums bleed. Myra and Senshi were the only ones who were unaffected by it. Luckily Magna and Jin were inside so they wouldn't be affected. Senshi lowered himself to the ground and placed the pink haired female onto the ground. It was then that she realized just how huge his dragonoid form was.

Her head reached till his torso. She bend her neck backwards to look at his face and he truly did look like one of the dragonoids that she had always read about in either books or seen in fantasy movies. When she first met him, she saw him in his human form, only knowing that he was a creature that was mentioned in myths. Then again, they lived in a magical realm, she sure as hell expected to meet some creature of this sort. She turned her attention back to her enemies as the real fight was about to begin.

Just before the spell had made its impact, Kaya had jumped off of Jin’s shoulder. She was well aware that Jin had taken plenty of severe beatings. This one won’t be enough to deal him any significant damage. However, Kaya in chibi form was a very vulnerable being and if she was caught by it, it would’ve been a different situation. Her timely jump allowed her to skip the damage and land on her paws on the table next to Jin; while Jin was sent flying. The result was a large smoke cloud which didn’t allow his friends to see that Jin was completely fine. Sure, there were some slight bruises on his upper torso and his face and his clothes were a mess. However, there was nothing to worry about. When Magna rushed to his side, he coughed due to the smoke and stood on his own: ”Sorry, my bad. I underestimated our opponents, haha”. He said as he scratched the back of his head apologetically smiling at Magna.

Jin had heard how Magna had managed to steer away the drunk mages from the tavern. It was a good move, outside Jin could use his heat based spells too. He could’ve used cold based spells but Magna probably didn’t have those. Though they were outside so all of them could go all out without concerning them with the safety of their surroundings. Jin patted the shoulder of Magna and smiled: ”Let’s go fight some bad guys”. The way he had said it, it felt like it was nothing out of the ordinary. The reason was that both Magna and Myra were his trusted mages and he believed that together they could overcome any kind of obstacle. Accompanying Magna, Jin and Kaya both emerged from the tavern. It appeared the battle had already begun.

”Go wild” he said as he looked at Kaya who smiled. She ran ahead and with each step her size grew more and more. The small, cute and cuddly saber tooth chibi turned into a large, fearsome and legendary creature. ”Finally” she said in a whispering tone as she pounced on top of one of the enemies grabbing him in her large teeth. It appeared that Myra was already overwhelming the opposition on her own. Aegis was also cleaning up and now there was a giant saber tooth tiger running amuck. Things didn’t look good for the thieves and they had begun to realize that. For now, Jin decided to hold back and let Kaya have some fun.

Magna was glad Jin was ok. He was also glad Kaya had managed to avoid the damage. What's more he was pleased his plan had worked and when he went outside he saw that it had been rather wise. This was because a sonic attack like the one Myra had used, as well as the giant dragonoid, would probably have wrecked the bar in an instant. Magna had to guess that this dragonoid was Senshi and like Kaya he was showing his true form. In a way so was Aegis for Aegis was normally concealed in his knife form. Magna stood at the doorway observing the battle.

Kaya's true form was slightly startling. He had not seen it before, but would see it plenty in the future. He never suspected her as anything more than a travel companion. A bit more than a pet, but not quite a fighting ally. It seemed he really couldn't judge people that well. Or at least animals. It was wise never to judge a book by its cover otherwise you could get some really terrible recipes.

Like Jin, Magna decided to stay back. This wasn't because he was incapable of fighting, but more that he preferred not to fight and hurt humans. He tended not to fight unless he had to and preferred to only fight those he planned to use in recipes in some way. Now if these were giant broccoli or something he'd be all for it. However, in this case he let Aegis step forward towards the mages. He did not have his axe and so he had grabbed one of the tables and snapped its top off to form a rudimentary club. However, before he just dropped the table he threw the top like a discus straight into one of the mage's who was about a launch a ball of darkness at Kaya. The mage was sent flying by the blow and that was Aegis' cue to move in properly. He ran at one of the remaining people and swung his pseudo club at them. The man however managed to dodge out the way and shot his gun at Aegis, but he just tanked the blow and grabbed the gun with his other hand before crushing it into a 2 dimensional replica of a gun. The man backed away slowly looking at the silver armored knight who spoke just a single word. "Run"
