    Job Description:

Clovis sat on a rocky overhang, looking into the valley below. He looked from one end to the other, stopping his gaze at the dark forest that sat wedged in between.
"That's probably where I have to go. Looks like an inviting place." He murmured to himself. Clovis had offered his assistance to a local medicine shop. They were in need of a rare flower, one that could be used to garnish a medicine a neighboring village needed.
"I'm not very fond of this adventure. You can simply see the darkness radiating from those trees." Clovis' view was fixated on the wood. Even above, a person could see a benevolent aura radiating from it. Clovis took his leap from the overhang and continued his trip to the forest.
A few hundred meters from the border, Clovis noticed a silhouette from the corner of his eye. He turned his head and noticed a handful of creatures running into the trees. "Well, this can only be a good sign."

He reached the wooded edge, dragging his hand down the tree in front of him. Clovis, being a border of sorts between all organisms, loved nature and all creatures that entailed.
"I would love to hear the stories you could tell, old friend." Clovis began walking the perimeter. He became very interested in the creatures he had seen earlier. "Hey guys, c'mon out. I know you are still around here." Clovis was sure he was being watched by these creatures. Although he knew this, he was certain they weren't dangerous. He entered the spooky forest at the next trail head he found. He wandered around, picking flowers as he went. He inspected all he grabbed, hoping it would be the one to end this irritation of a request. Close to fifteen minutes of walk had led Clovis to the darkest portion of the forest. He looked around him, and finally, into a tree. Lurking above him, something not so friendly.

Clovis saw the shadowed creatures lunge toward him. He leaped back, avoid a small fury of attacks. He moved back, dragging them into a small clearing. The sunlight revealed that it was three smaller goblins.
"Now why are you attacking me?" He asked them, not expecting a response. Clovis leaned into one of them, taking a sharp jab to the face. With a quick reaction, Clovis put his fist together and summoned his mantis scythe. A large green staff appeared in his hand. Clovis, in one swift movement, raised the staff and slammed it down on the head of the attacking goblin. The others were enraged. They darted toward him only to be stopped in their tracks. As they lunged, Clovis had wiped the small bit of blood from his lip, and wiped it across his scythe. A large curved blade appeared at the end, intimidating the creatures.
"Be wary little guys. I am not above ending you."

The two goblins helped their ally to his feet. Although hesitating, they were not going to be intimidated much more. They circled around Clovis, looking for a quick opening. One quickly attacked Clovis from the side, but he was easily able to dodge him. Clovis reacted instantly by dragging the blade of his scythe across the goblins belly. He fell to the dirt floor, not moving an inch. The two remaining goblins attacked Clovis in an enraged barrage. Clovis, giving thanks to his mantis scythe, was able to predict his opponents movements. He gracefully flowed in and out of the goblins movements. Clovis got cocky, he hadn't anticipated the opponents to recognize this ability. Clovis was suddenly stopped with a sharp jab to the back. The goblin pulled his claws out and leaped back into the tree behind him. Clovis whiped around and sliced the tree behind him with his scythe, forcing his enemies to leap between trees.

Clovis was awe struck by the tree crashing its way through the others. He dragged his eyes across the forest to watch the destruction. Clovis, turning his head slightly, dropped to his left side after taking a large right punch to the face. H staggered to his feet, ignoring the goblins who were smashing their hands into the dirt. Clovis stood, wiping blood from his back. He suddenly started to glow, using his Axolotl Phase, to heal himself. "Bone Horror....." he stuttered. Clovis adored and hated this spell. Sharp snaps were heard from his body. He lifted his head just in time to see a goblin lunging at him through the air. Clovis' chest thrust forward and large bones erupted from his chest. He had manipulated his ribs and caught the goblin right before contact. Slowly squeezing his bones together, the goblin could be heard screaming and scrambling for escape. "I'm sorry, my friend. I have a job that needs be done."

With a quick jerk, the goblin fell limp. He retracted his ribs and stood still, allowing his wounds to heal up. After several minutes, Clovis lifted his head and looked for the last goblin. He saw the creature, mortified and shaking, in a nearby tree. He walked over and waved his hand across his path, motioning for the beast to flee. The goblin took notice and made haste in the opposite direction. Clovis traveled down the path and continued his search for the flower. He weaved in between a large grove of Aspen, admiring the white bark that protected it. He made his way up a sharp hill, dabbing the beads of sweat that traversed his forehead. Reaching the top, he had found it. The flower he had taken those blows to get. Clovis bent down and picked the flower, setting it in his belt. "Alright." He said turning his direction back. "Time to head back." He wa quickly interrupted by some very un-inviting eyes.

He had been stalked all this way by a menacing pack of wolves. Clovis quickly re-cracked his forearms and gave himself large jagged blades on his arms. One wolf leaped at him, digging it's jaws into Clovis' shoulder. The beasts claws dug into his side. Clovis winced in between chuckles. He turned his head, and looked into the dogs glazed over eye. He pulled his right arm from the wolfs heart, bearing blood on his bone. Clovis pushed the lifeless body off of him and darted toward the remaining wolves. He baseball slide into the dirt and lifted both boots into another wolfs jaws before grabbing it's muzzle and pulling its head into the dirt. The dust cloud subsided and the wolf had been knocked out. Clovis knew he had no way of beating two more. He had exhausted himself physically. He looked at the path he had traveled and decided to try and outrun his predators.

He looked at his feet, the wolf had passed out and laid still. Clovis looked at the snarling beasts before him. He turned back down the path, knowing the two remaining wolves were right behind him. He slid behind a tree, and watched as the beasts smelled him out. He climbed into the branches, wincing from the bite wound he took earlier. Climbing onto a branch, Clovis took a deep breath and dropped himself from the cover. He landed with both heels on the wolfs neck. He heard the crack and knew the last one did too. He sprinted away, trying to get out of the forest as soon as possible. The wolf caught up to him and latched on his ankle, sending him into a devastating face plant. Clovis lifted his head, and there it was. The flower he had ventured into the woods to find. CLovis grabbed the flower and turned to the wolf with it.

Clovis cringed as the wolf grabbed his ankle. When he found the flower though, all of the pain vanished. He turned to the wolf, holding the flower in his hand, and was stunned by the reaction. The wolf had calmed. The rabid beast had tucked it's tail and laid its head down. Clovis sat up, wrapping his wound in a torn strap of his sleeve, and patted the dog on the head. "You really are a strange little beast, aren't you? One minute you are attacking me, the other, you are beggin' me for pets. O'well, youa re pretty cute." He said. He was wondering if the medicinal use of this flower, had something to do with the dogs reaction. Clovis gave the dog one last pet before walking out of the woods. He had a difficult time trying to find this pesky little flower. "This had better be worth it.." He grumbled.

Clovis had finally reached the edge of the woods. He started his journey back to the medicinal shop. Several hours later, weakened by the long trip, he reached the shop. When he handed the small, elderly woman the plant, her face was delighted. She smiled and danced at the sight of it. "Wow, so it really is that important?" He asked.
"Why yes, young one. It is the most important ingredient!"
Clovis watched as she walked around with the flower, before dropping it into a large steaming pot.
"What is that used to cure? Flu? Mumps? Ebola?" He asked.
    "Oh no. Thirst."
Clovis' face dropped. He walked slowly over and looked into the kettle. Tea leaves. He had been sent out to find a special aromatic. Clovis fell to flower, stifling his curses, and raised one hand.
"You better at least give me one damn sip of tea." He muttered. The old lady handed him the cup and sat and watched. Clovis took a sip and stopped moving. He slowly rose to his feet, and grabbed the kettle before darting out of the door. All that could be heard of him was one simple word "MINE!!!!"
