    Mission details:

Ah. An interesting day to say the least and an interesting task ahead. It was not his style to 'attack' and 'destroy' things. No, he was more of a manipulator, but in order to gain the leverage he needed to manipulate his guild he would need their trust. He needed to prove himself. He was a former rune knight commander after all. He would likely be the least trusted of any of the guild. Soloing some missions like this would be an ideal way to gain trust. He waited behind a boulder outside Hargeon. It was just far enough to not be spooted by guards on the border, but not too far that the target could go down an alternate path. It was probably the ideal place to perform a surprise assault. As he waited he considered what best to do when an idea came to him. A faint smile passed his lips before it faded. He quickly pulled out a small knife and began to slice into his clothing, tearing them up a bit. Then he threw himself in the mud before tossing the dagger away. He quickly glanced about looking for signs of the cart. "Perfect. The coast is clear." he said and then threw himself into the road. He looked, to the untrained eye, like someone who had just been attacked and robbed.

What he would do was not attack the caravan directly. No, he would get himself on board 'for protection' and then attack it from within. It was more his style. It wouldn't work at all if he didn't know from his research that the cart driver was a kind man. Sure, the owner of the cargo might of put something else on this run or the driver might be in a bad mood. It was a game of chance. He couldn't cover all the angles. Angles were fractal after all. Every one contained smaller angles. That was life. He just had to manipulate the situation to the best of his abilities and wing it. "Perfect." he murmured.

Eventually as he laid there he heard the sound of hooves and the rumble of cart wheels. He was on the edge of the road. All he had to do was wait and get the tone of voice right. If he failed he still had the choice of going full force on these people, but that wasn't his style. Manipulation was key here. A key that he posessed many copies of. Soon the cart was close and he crawled over raising a hand. "Please...he...help...me." he croaked. It was fortunate he hadn't brought his saber on this job. It was also fortunate that he looked quite 'old'. He was actually quite old in fact being in his fifties. He had found as he aged past a certain point some of his manipulation became easier. The cart came to a slow stop and from it hopped down exactly the man that Alaric was hoping to see. A kind man known for helping weary travellers.

"Now now don't struggle." the man said helping Alaric to his feet. In order to do this properly Alaric made it hard by falling limp and trying to get up himself a bit, but stumbling and other things. It made his act of a traveller who had been atacked much more believable. "Where are you headed?"

"Oak...to...town." Alaric said as he was sat down on the cart. The cart from what he could see was quite large and he could hear the voice of numerous guards. This would be a fight no matter what. He didn't have any spells that could cause mass destruction easily.

"What a cowinkidink. That's where i'm heading myself. What happened to you?" the man said handing him a flask of water.

"I was attacked...members of a dark guild...tartarus they said." he said lying with practise skilled. His voice was still full of weakness. The man may have given him some water, but someone who was attacked would still be weak. He wouldn't be able to talk properly for a little while yet

"Tartarus aye? They made a big name for themselves back in Era with that whole Acnologia buisness." the man replied as they rode on. Alaric continued to drink slowly nodding at the words. "Getting too big for their britches, magic council ought to take 'em down a peg. Especially if they are hurting innocent travellers on the roadside."

"True. They have no shame." Alaric replied. "Aren't you worried about an attack?" he asked. Now was the time to gauge exactly what he would be up against when dealing with this caravan.

"Well, there's always a risk when travelling the roads, but i've got some guards in the back and some others watching the road..not a guarantee, but hopefully it will deter most." the man replied with a smile. Alaric considered this.

"Seems like you've got everything prepared. Mind if I talk to your guards and let them know about the possible tartarus threat?" he replied after a brief pause. The man gestured with his hand and Alaric climbed through to the back. "Hello boys, i've told the driver, but there is a strong risk of dark guild action...most likely from Tartarus." The men looked at him for a moment and then nodded.

"Thanks for the warning, but we're more than a match for any weakling mages." one replied with a toothy grin. He had a mace near his waist and was quite muscular. A physical fighter by the look of him. The other two were not as muscular. One was more lithe and sinewy and had a sword. He looked like he had a good reach. The other was a gunner polishing a pistol. A tricky trio.

These men were armed and armed well, but Alaric could not sense any magical power emanating from them. That was a good sign as it meant they wouldn't detect what he was about to do, or not easily anyway. These mages that had been mentioned watching the road were troublesome, but for now they weren't here so he would just deal with these men. Now how to go about doing it properly. Disarming the ranged one seemed a good idea.

"Hey can I look at your gun?" he asked extending a hand towards the gunslinger who raised an eyebrow in response as if saying 'why' "Sorry, its just...I always find guns interesting. Its so rare to see modern technology you see." The man shrugged and chucked it over. Alaric caught the gun and began to look over it and then whilst doing so he pulled the trigger sending a bullet straight through the gunners eye. Instantly, the other two men were on their feet. One swung his sword, but Alaric rolled out of the way. The other swung his mace. It hit Alaric on the hand and he felt a crack. It was likely his wrist was broken. It made him drop the gun, but it didn't stop him moving. Instead he leapt out of the carvan and chanted a spell.

"Oh great beast of the sky, carrier of heroes, grant me your wings, your speed, your strength, let my boots embody all that you are" He hit the ground in a roll and as he did so the spell activated changing his boots to ones of black leather with wings on the ankle. "The fifth is not over, your vendetta is not done, come to me V, come to me oh burned one. Lend me thy power, lend me thy knives. Let true justice be done" he chanted begining to charge up one of his other spells as he ran after the caravan. As he got closer the two men leapt out an angry expression on their faces. Angry opponents. Exactly as he intended. Angry people made mistakes. It was unfortunate he'd been hurt, but it wouldn't stop him fighting and besides he'd taken out one opponent.
