Tea Time [Job] Empty Tea Time [Job]

Post by Lekuna 21st April 2014, 5:28 pm

A job she would be good at. A job in which all she really had to do was sit and listen to some senile old woman tell her stories of youth. Lekuna was a great listener in the fact that she could hear somebody drone for hours and hours about something while she quietly fiddled with whatever it is that had her attention at that point in time. To be specific, the droning person would be Zeno's grandmother, and the thing that would have her attention was an experimental spell that she had been working tirelessly to perfect. For when she achieved the next rank. Without access to Bosco's tools, it would be a lot harder to do. Especially due to the fact that she comes from eighty six years in the future. It wasn't all bad though, being able to explore the times of old were quite interesting to her and would continue to fuel her curiosity for quite a while.

She missed her home though, in the technologically superior nation that trumped all the others with the secrets it held, in her opinion. Lekuna had no choice but to come this far back, they would've caught her otherwise and Fiore had one of the most valuable components to make all of it possible. Right in the guild that her great grandfather ran for much of his life. I can't quite see him or her... as amazing as it would be. It would only cause confusion and strange situations. Maybe I'll tell them one day, but not today... or for a while she thought to herself, thinking of her own great grandparents. They were definitely alive, but she didn't want to see them for obvious reasons.

Once the time came, she would, but until then, Lekuna would just mind her own business and try to fix that old pocket watch. Thinking of the time keeping device caused her to instinctively reach down for it and click the small button on the side, opening the engraved cover and revealing the time piece. How am I going to fix you... Can I fix you? It was a worrying notion that she'd never be able to. With her skills though, all it would ever amount to was a worrying notion, nothing more, nothing less. Before she knew it, she stood in front of the door to Zeno's grandmother's house.

The door was wooden and red, recently painted and the curtains were closed. Lights were turned off and the balcony door was locked, it would seem as though nobody was home, but he assured her that she'd be here. Before she was about to turn around and give up, the door slowly open, giving off a loud creaking noise before completely opening. Look like she is home after all she thought while cautiously walking in. Once her whole body was through, the door slammed shut behind her and the back of an old woman's head was visible. Her hair was long and gray, probably waist length and she was rocking in her chair in front of a lit fireplace. Next to her, another rocking chair. Guess it's a safe assumption that I sit there

"I'm guessing my idiot grandson sent you to keep an eye on me. Masking it as another job, probably listen to my stories. What a caring fool..." she said, her voice trailing off. "I'm not in the best of health right now, so it's not surprising he'd send someone. He cares for me so much... maybe too much. I wonder how he'll react when I'm no longer here" Seems like she's thinking out loud. Hasn't asked me anything though. Shame that her thoughts have to be so sad, I wish I could help her somehow. she thought with a frown, beginning to walk over to the empty chair. Lekuna sat and the old woman began talking again.

"You know, in my youth, I had enough magical power to level an entire continent. Now, I barely have enough to devastate Fiore. Age really catches up, but let me tell you a secret about it. You learn all sorts of neat things about people when you're my age. From their body language, to their clothing, to the fact that some aren't actually people at all. Haha. I remember this one boy, he was actually created as a bridge between the ultimate weapon and the wielder. Without him, the wielder would be hurt by the weapon, lets say if it was a sword, he was the hilt. Can't use a sword without a hilt, you'd cut yourself. I never did learn what happened to him when he left his guild..." she began, beginning to talk from nothing.

What a conversation starter. I wonder if it's this easy for everyone. Then again, is it really a conversation, she's the only one talking. "I'm sure the story of such a mysterious young 'man' is boring you. What about I tell you the story of my brother. I'll start from the very beginning, so make sure you pay attention, or you won't be leaving" she said with a smile as she took a sip from her teacup that didn't seem to be there before. [i]Was that a threat? Where did that teacup come from? she thought in a bit of a panic. Two strange things occurred simultaneously and all the old woman did was smile. Looks like I should pa attention instead of tinkering with this... Lekuna thought, putting away her tools and pieces of wire she was messing with up until now.

"You see, my brother was a farmer. A lonely, lonely farmer who worked tirelessly during the day and rested easily during the night. One day, he noticed a dark figure in his fields. So, like the responsible man that he was, he went out and investigated what exactly was invading his land. But! When he walked up to the thing in the field, it was really furry, like a dog. What would a dog be doing in a field of wheat? Well, it wasn't actually a dog. It was a werewolf! Really, one of the big ones from sin. What do ya kids call em these days. Alpha wolves? Oh well. Whatever it was, it was really big and nasty. Being the strong ol' water mage that my big brother was, he whipped it here and there until the wolf was ready to retreat." What a story, it's a shame that I'm not interested in the lycans of Fiore

"The were-creature made one last effort to hurt my brother and ended up biting him before fleeing as fast as it could, never to return from the fields around his. It was a tragic day I tell you... because it was when his transformation began- Oh, I'm sorry, I'm not being polite. Would you like some tea?" she asked, trying to be a gracious host. "Yes please. Thank you" Lekuna replied, rocking a little harder in the chair. This was the only thing keeping her from drifting off into sleep. The old woman returned and brought along with her a steaming beverage. They sat there in silence while both sipped on the drinks until they finished, and then the story continued.

"My big brother turned into one of those things over the course of a few weeks, eventually being forced to leave the farm. I was left alone, as our parents had business in Sin. What that business was never made it to my ears. Ah..." the old woman sighed, and Lekuna couldn't help but feel bad for her. "Thanks for listening to an old woman's mad rambling... You can go if you wish..." she said as the door opened. Lekuna was about to protest, wishing for the sad lady to continue her story. Before she could though, she was outside, facing the streets of Magnolia Town. What in the world is going on... she thought while turning around to face the place where she came from.

The house was old, decrepit, as if no one had lived there for years. It was as if the house aged tremendously in the few seconds she was outside, or maybe it aged as she listened to the old woman's story. This door wasn't red or recently painted, it was dark brown and breaking apart. The windows were broken and there was no balcony. What...? she was beyond confused at this point and wanted nothing to do with the house. Zeno would probably know more, but for now, she would return to her guild and try to figure this out. Actually... do I even want to know what happened here today? If Zeno knows and can explain it to me, that'd be fantastic, but that'll be all the digging that I'll do for this. I don't have time for something like this, I have to keep helping out the Fiore's citizens until I find one from Bosco... that's when the real mission will start A smile crossed her face, lighting it up for the streets to see. She was ready to get what she came to complete, all there was to do right now though, was wait.
