Kaito hadn’t expected to ever join a guild, not the way he currently was. He certainly hadn’t expected to stumble across a golden opportunity either. But here he was, the newest holder of Leo’s key, and the newest potential recruit to a certain guild that has taken his interest. Their conservation work had captured his attention when he’d been debating joining a guild, and it hadn’t taken him long at all to contact the guild leader in hopes of joining.

Now he was here, waiting to be escorted to the guild hall. To join a guild, something he’d never really initially wanted. He’d always operated solo prior to this, never really wanting to form attachments beyond his own spirits. He still wasn’t sure if he’d form any attachments to his guild mates, he was joining simply because this guild’s style interested him, not to make friends. Either way, the whole thing was rather stressful, and he grasped onto Leo’s key from where it hung on a cord around his neck with his other keys. All this waiting and unsurety was getting to him. He would be accepted into the guild, he believed that, but what of the people? Would he be able to avoid getting close to these people? He didn’t want or need relationships of any kind, all he really needed was Leo and the others, right?

    Drip. Drip.

Several droplets would make themselves known to Kaito while he would stand outside, waiting to be take into the guild hall. They were barely noticeable at first, but after a second or so, would be large drolets falling on the ground beside him. But what was truly surprising was the color of the supposed water from the sky. It was a bright azure color and...was sticky? Just as Kaito would be noticing all the little details, a shape from above would coming hurtling down towards him from the sky, the shape of a volleyball at most. If he were to get struck, it would be like getting hit with a balloon. A round balloon made out of gelatin. If he dodged, it would bounce off of the ground and fumble around while he might watch. But it wasn't long until the slime would become upright again and look up at the men standing before the door. "Gyuuuun~" The creature cooed at Kaito while it would bubble happily at the man. It awaited his reaction before the door would open.

    "Ugh, there you are!"

A woman with thick spectacles, dressed in a lab coat and some rather fashionable clothing, would gently pick up the slime in her arms. At her touch, the creature would emit a soft bubbling noise while she'd smirk a little to herself. "Guiiii~" "I thought I told you about wandering out of Level Four. I'm gunna have to get a cage for you if you keep this up you little-" Her eyes marched upwards to see the man standing before her. She let out a gasp at Kaito's sudden appearance. "I'm so sorry! I didn't know that we had anybody out here!" The woman carrying the slime would look around for anybody else present. Nope, it was just the two of them. And one hyperactive, troublesome slime. How was she going to do this? Could she welcome people into the guild? This was something like members could do. She was just an intern!

Still, it was better than nobody.

"Uh, sorry!" she apologized again while wincing to herself. "I'm Vee. Yes that is my literal name. My parents were weird. A-Anyway, how can we help you?" she asked. "Are you trying to join?"

Kaito sighed, releasing Leo’s key and instead grasping for Ophidia’s. Leo cost a lot of magic to keep in the mortal plane, but Ophidia could stay with Kaito under her own power, which was much more appealing to him at the moment. Besides, she scared people more than the lion did. If he needed a moment to breathe, he was sure she could get him a little bit of time and space to do so simply by intimidating people. He needed that assurance right now.

He was almost too caught up in contingency plans to notice the droplets falling before him, though he seemed to notice them after a moment of blank staring. He’d looked up just in time to avoid the… what was that? Coming towards his face, watching it bounce and move around with the sort of disbelieving stare that belied his nervousness. It appeared to be some sort of… creature? Normally, Kaito would be fascinated, but right now he was just impatient as he watched the little thing blunder around. This clearly wasn’t his escort, so what was going on?

His question wasn’t answered for a minute or two, until a woman came hurrying along to pick the creature up, seeming to scold it. She seemed just as odd as the creature, only noticing him after her scolding was mostly complete. If this was his escort… well, he supposed he could only hope the guild leader was more aware of his surroundings.

“I’ve contacted the guild leader about joining, yes. However, I was under the impression that the guild hall wasn’t a building at all. What is this building? And I was sure the leader said something about needing to be escorted into the hall via a special means…” he eventually muttered, still gripping his keys hard enough to bruise delicate fingers. He avoided the woman’s gaze, taking full advantage of his height with the heels to not look her in the eyes.
