History of Rinni Faithe Empty History of Rinni Faithe

Post by Rinni Faithe 20th February 2019, 12:01 pm

    History/Story
History:Rinni Faithe was born to Brad Faithe and Zelisa Faithe in the port-like town of Cedar. It was a small community where everyone knew everyone else. There wasn't many wizards in this community, and the people relied heavily on the protection of the knights that guarded the town. The day Rinni was born should have been a happy day. And it would have if it wasn't for one small detail.

As the doctor placed the small bundle in the mother's arms, she nervously answered the birth of their daughter, warning that they may be a bit shocked. Brad and Zelisa shared concerned looks with one another as the baby began to cry in her mother's arms. As the parents looked at their precious newborn, they were shocked at what they saw. Wolf ears instead of human ears, a tiny muzzle with a black tip, and a tail protruding from her backside.

Brad and Zelisa were confused, scared, and uncertain of how to deal with this unusual development. As far as they knew, nothing like this has ever happened before. If it did, it was a family secret kept in the closet throughout the family history. Maybe she would grow out of it, they had thought. Had hoped. Prayed, even, that this wasn't permanent.

Rinni's first birthday came and went with no sign of changing. She was still a wolf-child. Her parents were disappointed. Rinni was oblivious to her parents' angst. She was still too young to understand, to know that she was different. Her parents decided to have no more children, for fear of producing another... freak. Instead, they opted to raise Rinni in secrecy, scared of what the neighbors might think.

Another year and still no changes. Rinni was walking and talking now. She appeared to be a quick learner. Her parents fought a lot. Keeping her as the family's dirty little secret was becoming a strain on their relationship. Brad wanted to be rid of 'the little monster' but Zelisa argued that she was just a baby and it wasn't her fault. Rinni watched these fights from a distance, confused and wondering why mommy and daddy were so angry all the time.

When Rinni was three years old, her mom took her for a walk. She kept her ears and tail covered under a cloak and hood so the neighbors wouldn't see her. Zelisa was crying, and Rinni asked her what was wrong but she wouldn't answer. The heartbroken woman placed her only child on the steps of a church. Rinni was scared now as her mom apologized, explaining she had no other choice. She then kissed her baby girl and ran away leaving the child crying and calling out after her.

The church took in the child, raising her and teaching her. When the women removed her cloak to bathe her, they screamed in shock at what they saw. Her wolf-like features scared them so that they called her a demon child. A monster and a freak. The pastor of the church decided they raise her in secret, hidden from the outside world. Perhaps with time, their god could remove the evil that possessed the girl.

Rinni couldn't understand why she was treated this way. At the age of four she begged and pleaded to go play with the other children, but the leaders of the church refused to let her step outside. When she was sick, the women took care of her. The women bathed her, dressed her, and homeschooled her. But Rinni was lonely and miserable. Her parents abandoned her, and she could tell these people didn't want her either.

Ages five, six, and seven passed with no incidence. She was still locked away, kept secret. During church services and prayer she was to remain hidden. If she did come out, she was to stay covered within her cloak and hood and was not permitted to speak with anyone. She was treated as a servant, cleaning the church and obeying whatever command was given of her. She started to grow resentful of her parents, this church, and her own existence.

Ages eight, nine, and ten were spent studying, working, and sneaking out to see what it was like for normal people. Of course, she was beaten severely whenever she was caught outside the church. Sometimes they chained her in the basement for days or even weeks in order to teach her that disobedience had consequences. She spent hours, days, weeks crying in her prison. All she wanted was to be like every other girl. Why did she have to be so different?

At the age of 11, she decided to run away from 'home'. She never felt loved nor wanted there. There had to be something else out there. Somewhere she could belong. She ran down the street, concealed by her hood and cloak. As she ran aimlessly she crashed into a sturdy figure which caused her to fall on her behind. Her hood was knocked from her head revealing her ears and muzzle. Everyone in the streets stopped and stared.

People whispered and pointed, she heard the words freak and monster and her ears twitched. The man she ran into was one of the knights that guarded the town. He helped her to her feet and cleared the streets with a single command. He smiled at her, and though she was scared she went with him.

He was kind to her and trained her with a sword. He was the only one at the knight academy that was nice. Everyone else mocked her, knocked her down, pulled her tail, and called her names. When that happened, her knight always came to defend her. For that, she was grateful. He was the first and only friend she had in her entire young life.

Now 12 years old, she was becoming skilled in swordplay. She was also homeschooled in basic education such as reading and writing. She grew to love the knight that took her in. He was like a big brother, a father figure, something she never knew growing up. She barely remembered her parents. The last memory of her mother was when she said goodbye. Tears filled her eyes as she thought about that day. The day she was abandoned. The day that started a long line of hell.

The day the friendly knight took her in was the happiest day of her life. They laughed, joked, sparred and played games together. Life was perfect. Until one day, it wasn't.

Rinni was 13. Her knight in shining armor went on a mission. A rumor of bandits or monsters or something terrorizing citizens near the edge of town. He went to investigate: he never came back. Rinni dropped to her knees screaming and sobbing as word of his death reached her. What would she do without him? Her angel? Her friend? Her big brother?

Life got hard for Rinni that year. The bullying, harassment and abuse only increased. She continued to train by herself against dummies but was never strong enough to defend herself against the cruel knights. Citizens weren't any better, throwing stones at her and calling her a monster. She couldn't take it any longer. So she ran away yet again.

Rinni lived on the streets until she was 14, hiding and sleeping under bridges and in alleyways, stealing food and money just to survive. She never removed her hood and cloak, knowing full well no one would ever accept her. One day she overheard people talking about a guild hidden in a snowy mountain top. It was called Silver Wolf. Apparently, they accepted anyone that wished to be a member. It was also very difficult to get to. Well hidden and protected by ghosts and spells.

Growing tired of this life and this town, the young teen headed toward this mysterious guild. It was a long journey on foot, so she often times hitchhiked or asked for directions from strangers. During her travels, she encountered a lone wolf in a wooded area. She wasn't sure where she was, exactly, but it was secluded. No humans. Only nature and wildlife. She wasn't scared of this wolf. He didn't look at her with judging eyes. Didn't attack her or run away. Didn't call her names.

The wolf joined her on her journey. She called him Timber, and for whatever reason, the two formed an instant bond. They knew each other as if they were one and the same. And over time they even shared a telepathic link which allowed them to talk to each other. She had a new friend. A friend that was closer to her than any could hope to be with someone else. After weeks, perhaps even a month or two on the road together, they finally reached the mountains. Together, they set out to find this mysterious guild.

Rinni Faithe found herself alone in the midst of Waas Forest. She was scared and half expected to be attacked by bandits or monsters. She was prepared to use her Wolf Blade at a moments notice to defend herself. The bushes rustled. Rinni froze and every hair (or fur) on her body stood on ends. Her ears stood erect creating two small lumps under her hood.

A large wolf leaped out from the bushes. Surprised to find a girl in the forest, he stopped and stood there as if sizing her up. Their eyes met. And an unbreakable bond was formed. It was a magic Rinni didn't even know she possessed. That day, she made a friend for life. She slowly reached out to the wolf, he stretched out his neck to smell her hand. He then licked her fingertips. She squatted down and ran her fingers through the white fur along his neck, and up into the bluish-black fur on his head, scratching between his ears. He let out a pleased growl and she smiled.

"Hey there, boy. I'm Rinni. Rinni Faithe. Do you have a name?" she asked not really expecting an answer.

"No. We have no need for names out here."The voice responded so clearly in her head. The wolf hadn't moved though. Was she going crazy? Her ears twitched and she shook her head in confusion.

"Excuse me, but... did you just talk...?"

"No I... wait. Did you... hear me speak?"

"No, no. It was... more like an echo in my head..." Rinni said in shocked that she was speaking with a wolf. "This is impossible. I must be dreaming..."

The wolf tilted his head and sat in front of her. "If you're dreaming then I am too. And I'm pretty sure I'm wide awake."

[color:5d5d=00cccc]"I-I didn't say anything! Holy cow, did you just read my mind!? This is... amazing! Do you... want to come with me, Mr. Wolf? I'm traveling to the Silver Wolf Guild."

"Silver Wolf? Yes, I heard of it from humans passing through here from time to time. I've nowhere else to be. And I'm compelled to be by your side."

Rinni stood up, drawing her hood up over her ears and pulling them flat so they don't show so much. She smiled at her new friend and said, "Well, then. If you want to come with me, you should have a name. How about Timber?"

The wolf agreed to that name and the duo continued together toward the frigid mountains. Hopefully, the trip would be well worth it. No, it already was worth it. It led her to Timber, and she had no regrets about her decision to follow this path.
