    NIGHT OF ETERNAL DARKNESS

In the last approach from her majesty, the Regent of the Night, she threatened to bring the World of Eternal Darkness to Earthland, resulting in an event known as the ‘Night of Eternal Darkness’. Upon the captured mages helping her find enough magic energy to achieve her goal, things suddenly went silent. The evil Regent of shadows vanished without a trace and things went back to normal, or so it would seem.

If only Earthland could have that much luck. It had been a year since her attempt at shrouding the world in everlasting night, but something mysterious suddenly began to rear its head. The skies of both day and night shriveled to pitch black, casting a shadow over the entire land. The sun shone no more and the moon above glowed an eerie black that brought no light.

The Magic Council is in a panic, with none of the renowned wizards of Fiore offering any explanations or solutions to the frightening event. The only factor they can link it back to was the discovery of the World of Eternal Darkness exactly one year prior. The Rune Knights have been dispatched to handle the panicked and stressed town populations, but the terror levels alone are not the only thing the officials have to be concerned with.

The moon is sprinkling a black powder over earthland, blanketing the world in its black glowing dust. The substance, informally known now as ‘Moon Pollen’, is warping the magical structure of the world. The seas have been dyed black from the moon and the tides are uneven and irregular. Sightings of unlabeled and unknown monsters have been reported, but these horrors are the least of the world’s concern-- mages know how to handle monsters. One in every four people have been strangely altered mentally and sometimes magically. The personalities they once knew have been inverted, swapped to a polar opposite of who they truly are.

In a frenzied panic, the Magic Council has called for as many mages as possible to fight off the Terrors of Eternal Darkness and investigate the Moon Pollen and personality phenomenon. Under the ever present cover of darkness, evil mages take full advantage of the nights, while good wizards have their hands full with the chaos.

    Minimum Wordcount:
As this is a job-based event, there is a set word count based on the highest ranked player! Luckily these are much lower than would normally be needed for the exp being rewarded!

You may complete the wordcount of a rank above you for EXP that is a rank above you.

    D: 500 words per player.
    C: 1000 words per player.
    B: 2000 words per player.
    A: 3000 words per player.
    S+: 4000 words per player.

    Location:
Anywhere IC -- Please post your thread in the Night of Eternal Darkness event board.

    Requirements:
2-5 mages per topic. You must encounter the Terrors of Eternal Darkness at least once. Members in the party may optionally be the inverse of their original personality.

    Terrors of Eternal Darkness:

    BEDWETTING WEAK
    Squashed Nightmares
Squashed Nightmares are small and odd creatures with the ability to fly. They spawn in packs of four and attack their enemies, legs and ankles dealing 1/2 rank in damage. These Nightmares move at a rank above member speed and each need 4 hits of user rank damage to take down.

    NIGHTMARISHLY NORMAL
    Candle Wolf
The light in the darkness this wolf like creature uses magic and travels in groups of three. They can cast single target spells that deal user rank damage. These spells track the target and appear to be balls of electricity. If hit by these spells the mage will be immobilised for a post. When not casting these spells the wolves will attack in unison, each of their basic melee attacks dealing user rank melee damage. However each of the wolves travel at above user rank speed and need 6 hits of user ranked damage to take down.

    SCARY STRONG
    Kinpup
Kinpups appear in groups of 4 to 6, working as a team while one will each hold down an opponent the rest of them will gang up on a single mage. While primarily attacking with claws and teeth they are known to cause hallucinations and light headed-ness due to each attack draining the mages mana by 5%, they attack with the damage of one rank higher and move at user rank speed. Each beast takes 6 hits of member rank in damage before dying in an explosion of pumpkins which is one rank higher in aoe damage.

    HAIR-RAISING BOSS
    Pumpkin Tower
The boss does not move and grows from the ground as a giant pumpkin tower. To defeat the boss tower, mages must defeat the other nine heads before killing the last otherwise it will regenerate. Each of the nine heads can take 5 hits of user rank in damage, once per post they spew out flaming pumpkin seeds which use multitarget range, speed and damage of one rank higher. For the duration of fighting the nine pumpkin heads as well as the 10th mages will be attacked by vines from the towering pumpkin monster which use melee range speed and damage of the members rank.
As soon as the ninth head is defeated the head at the top of the tower will start a 'scream' which deals burst damage within burst range and speed of the rank above the member. This scream can optionally summon ten small pumpkin creatures per post. They must stay within 25 meters of the pumpkin tower however if left to accumulate there's no telling how many will be brought forth by the screams. Each small pumpkin creature takes one hit of user rank damage to take down and move at user rank speed. These creatures defend the last head and deal damage of one rank lower.
Apart from screaming and the vines the tenth head has no other attacks to defend itself with, surprising squishy perhaps it's not a pumpkin but a squash as it takes 4 ranks of user damage to defeat.

    Rewards:
    • User rank EXP if you complete the wordcount of your rank. One rank above user EXP for one rank higher wordcount written. (H+ get 10 year exp.)
    • Jewels according to rank of player.
    • 20k jewels to each player. (40k jewels for H+)

Posting some clarifications for people as there has been a little confusion regarding the wordcount and EXP. c:

    1. S ranks take S+ wordcount and gain 10Y EXP the same as H+ ranks. The reason we are doing this is because S rank EXP really gets an S rank mage nowhere and thus participating in the event is nowhere as near worth it as it is for other ranks. On top of that, the time is crunched to only a little over two weeks for all participants to complete the wordcount, so the payout should be worth the rush.

    2. EXP and Jewel bonuses like EXP multipliers, Jewel Bonuses, Team/Guild/Mentor bonuses, do not count for this event because there is a low wordcount for a decent amount of EXP if people finish in time.

    3. "There is a set word count based on the highest ranked player!" has caused some confusion. To clarify, no matter your rank, the wordcount of the thread is set to the highest player's chosen wordcount to complete, be it rank or above user rank. This rule is set just in case two or more people that are the same rank wish to thread and want to aim for a wordcount above their rank.

I hope this helps! If there are further questions, don't hesitate to PM me!
