    I'M A CREATURE
of a culture that I create

It had been some time since she had been injured by that youkai, maybe a week or so, though she wasn't sure herself right about now, the time had sort of blended together. Between being forced to stay inside to get better and having constant nightmares about the ordeal time wasn't the thing she was most concerned with right now.
With all her wounds Astrid hadn't been able to practice her violin or any other instrument. Whenever she's try, the deep cuts would reopen and shoot a stinging pain around her body before oozing out the sickly liquid known as blood. She had gotten so much of it on both her own and Elyx's furniture by now... She felt rather bad about it.

It was driving her insane. Even the nightmares of the tanuki's glowing red eyes and bloodied claws caused the girl less pain than not being able to hold her instrument.
It was a craving, like an itching within her soul. She wouldn't be satisfied until she could hold the wooden string instrument in her arms again and make beautiful sounds.
That of course, meant she'd try anything to play at least a little bit. Even if it meant sneaking out of the house to do so.
If Lucius or Elyx caught her playing while being so injured like this they would have a fit for sure. She hated doing this, going behind their backs. But... It was this overwhelming feeling of needing to play, it ignored all other emotions and filled her mind.
She had to do this, or at least try.

The silver haired female had chosen a nice, quiet spot to play after wandering around the port city for a while, trying to find the place with the least people. Normally she would have looked for the biggest and most crowded places to play so a lot of people could enjoy her playing, but seeing as how attention was the thing she was trying to avoid as of now, the less people the better. Not that walking around the town like the way she was now had helped any. She was still patched head to toe with various band aids and bandages from the beating she had received from the guild ace, people had looked at her like she was some kind of walking zombie, slowing down their paces to get a good look. No surprise there. Word of the fight must have gotten around, of course, since there was death involved. Their encounter was probably the gossip of the town.
Great, what she needed. A few weeks in and her reputation involved cutting lines, threatening people, and getting into fights.
She dearly hoped no one would take any of it seriously out of context.

Astrid had taken a seat upon the small hill, legs stretched out forward as she held the small violin within her grasp, studying the shining wood with a gentle gaze.
Taking in a deep breath the girl positioned it like she normally would. Chin resting on the holder piece, bow in the other hand, arm positioned back.
With an exhale she brought her arm down, stroking the thin strings once before she felt a shoot of pain circle through her arm sharply, making her drop the instrument with a painful gasp, wincing as she instantly brought the arm to her chest, holding it tight with the other hand.

She watched to see the violin slide down the small slope, skidding down before stopping at the dip at the bottom neatly.
    It got away from her.
She... Still couldn't play. Not even her body wanted her to...
Shoulders drooping as a wave of frustration traveled through her body she brought up her hands, placing them upon her face and letting out a long sigh, feeling as though she could cry.

It felt like the entire world was against her being happy these days. If she couldn't play, how else could she be happy?
