Pixie the Bounty Hunter | Job | Cleona Collins Empty Pixie the Bounty Hunter | Job | Cleona Collins

    Job Details:
Cleona sat back on the edge of the desk, enjoying every moment of the irony. Here she was, sitting in the office of an authority of the law, being tasked with capturing an escaped convict. Of course, Cleona made a point not to mention she was a criminal herself, even covering her left arm with a flimsy piece of ragged cloth to hide her Basilisk Fang tattoo. The greedy little pixie say in the guard’s office for good ten minutes, mostly to discuss an appropriate price – five hundred jewels – and what would be legally acceptable in this situation, though Cleona did not care much for the latter. She even started dozing off as an encouragement for him to just shut up so she could get on with her job. When their situationally hilarious meeting came to a rest, Cleona bid the guard a pessimistic farewell and left to find her walking paycheck.

There were a couple places the escaped convict, known to most as Buck, might have gone. The most obvious place would have been Buck’s family’s house, but the Era guards were already keeping it under watch and had been since he first escaped from prison. The only other place Buck reportedly frequented was the house of his old partner in crime, Steve. As Cleona had been informed, Steve lied in the bad part of Era, the slums of the city. This poor area looked about what the pixie had expected – metal fences, wife-beater shirts, and guard dogs with spiked collars. Cleona flew down the street in a gentle glide. She carefully avoided any ruffians she spotted, hoping she could at least avoid some trouble until the job was over. When the nearby church bells rang noon, she had arrived at the wobbly Hell Steve dare to call a house.

Steve, as far as Cleona could tell, was an idiot. He had decidedly fixed everything in his house with duct tape, including piece of tape he had accidently ripped. Still, the desperate pixie needed his help; although, he was only willing to give it to her for a favor – she had to help watch a meeting that night in which Steve was to sell some stolen weapons to a bunch of bandits. Cleona did not need to be asked twice. Getting to watch over a weapons trade was exactly the kind of danger she needed, plus the added bonus of figuring out Buck’s location was nice too. Thus, the duo waited a few hours at the house until it came time to go to the meeting. Needless to mention, Steve spent the several hours of waiting bugging Cleona with his stupid, mindless jokes which usually ended with some obscenity.

The two arrived at the meeting place – a tree-covered hill on the edge of Era – when the sun went down. Six bandits, each clad in leather armor, arrived shortly after them and made it clear they were in a hurry to get their package. Steve complied and gave them a large box full of disassembled swords and sizeable daggers in exchange for a hefty sum of jewels. The deal almost went perfectly until one of the bandits commented on Cleona’s size. It went downhill from that point, literally. The rage-filled pixie struck the bandit in the face; after which, Steve and Cleona were forced to flee down the hill while a pack of bandits chased them with the daggers they had just bought. Eventually, the duo made it to safety at Steve’s house, where he finally revealed Buck’s location – he was hiding in an old, dying shack on the countryside.

Cleona raced with speed to the mentioned destination, finding the shack surrounded by a bunch of wheat fields. She had hoped to catch Buck off guard, but the fluttering of wings gave her approach away. A short conversation ensured, after which, he revealed he was simply awaiting his family so he could see them one more time. Cleona would have none of that mess and made it known he had to go back to prison that instance. He fled. Darn. The pixie plucked a brick from the random litter of the shack and chased after him. Being capable of flight, the chase was somewhat short. She flew above him and dropped the brick right on top of head, knocking him unconscious. With that, she had a nearby farmer help transport him on a cart to the Era prison. By the time Buck was back in his cell, it was morning and Cleona was a little richer.
