    ......whsssp..........whsssp..........whssssp.....

These were the only sounds that could be hear, as a tiny swordsman walked down the beaten path. He lazily swung his seemingly simple bamboo staff, whacking the nearby plants. Unknown to others, it was a very well crafted blade hidden within it. The child like swordsman wore an all black simple ragged kimono. Worn from his travels amongst the country side.

"mm....*gulp*.....mhmm"The sound was barely audible as Jubei casually munched on the large rice balls he recently purchased. There was a very small village he found, with plenty of food and drink to keep him going. After finishing the rice ball, he began to lick his fingers, still smacking the random weeds he found sticking up from the ground. He reached the peak of his hill, and looked behind him. There was a massive mountain that stood blocking his view, only to an incredibly large range filled with them. However, he was now at an opening, and closing in on the supposed location of this job.

"Ancient ruins...." Jubei began to ponder about moving forward. He imagined an ancient underground crypt filled with mummies and golden riches. His eyes lit up, and his pupils formed into jewel symbols.  He knew just how strong these ten wizard saints were supposed to be, and the ones from over a millenia ago had to be incredibly potent. These were all great reasons to help these buffoons who consider themselves the magic council. However the bonus, was being able to deal with Harper Goldenshine once and for all. This wasn't the first time that the treasure hunter Harper was in his way.

Several years back he evaded Jubei and was able to secretly able to plunder the treasures from a king. While Jubei was in the middle of dueling with this king for said treasure. To say he despises Goldenshine would be an understatement in the least. Jubei came close to a weeping willow tree roughly 30 meters from the entrance to the ruins. The tree provided plenty of shade, and equally enjoyed the cool breeze as Jubei himself did. Utilizing both hands, he grabbed an opposite end of his bamboo staff. He lifted the staff above his head, as he stretched his entire body.

"Yaaaaaaaaawwwwwwnnnnnn........" Jubei let out a long boring sigh simultaneous with his stretching. He twisted his body at the waist left, and right several times to complete his mini warm up. Jubei looked forward, ready to walk through the entrance, and dig in to the depths of the crypt.

"Hmmmm...." Crimson eyes flickered over the job description once more. The job itself seemed to be a rather simple thing to the likes of Gil. He had merely plucked it off the job board by chance. After reading it he was more than satisfied. "Keep a singe item from a treasure trove of items previously used by the wizard saints of old? Finally an item worthy of me." The arrogant thought caused an equally arrogant smirk to cross his features. The conceited man seemed almost out of place on the worn dirt road. Blonde hair slicked back perfectly, crimson eyes like rubies, and most of all the expensive looking clothes. He was obviously not some ragged traveler that often frequented the dirt roads of Fiore.

The road however, was not a usual dirt road. Rather it lead to Ancient Ruins long forgotten by most of society. "To think the Magic Council is turning to anyone to do this job." He scratched at the back of his neck, where the crimson mark of Tartarus lay exposed for the world to see, "They're aiding the enemy. What imbeciles!" He let out a bark of a laugh at the thought.

The male mage continued the long trek in silence. He didn't want to waste any mana on a summon just yet, the possible opponents listed were enough to even have Gil thinking twice about wasting magic. While he was incredibly confident in his ability to defeat such enemies, he preferred that victory would come to him easily. Though not having a summon to carry him to the ruins was rather irksome and made the journey far longer than it should have taken. It wasn't until a few hours later that the blonde mage had arrived at the ruins. The sun was high in the sky glaring down at all those who stood in the sun. It was bright enough to even have Gil's crimson eyes squinting. "At least there will be some shade in these ruins." The place was so destroyed that it was hard for Gil to say what the ruins might have been years ago. The man was just about to enter when he spotted something or rather someone underneath the shade of a tree.

"A child?" Gil mumbled mildly surprised that some kid had made the journey out this far. "A treasure hunter more than likely. Or some treasure hunters brat." Gil was obviously staring at the child making no move to hide his gaze. Finally, after what felt like an eternity Gil spoke up and spoke his mind like he so often did, "I'd run back to your mother if I were you. This is no place for some child to be running around!" It came out as a harsh sneer.

The wind blew lightly, causing the tall grass to bend slightly to its will. After staring idly towards his destination, Jubei decided to move forward, and into the ruins. Immediately upon placing one foot in front of the other, a man spoke from behind him. His tone was filled with a smug attitude, and his words cut into Jubei's patience. So much so, that he froze in that position for a few seconds, by the audacity of this random person. Jubei had lived in this form for over a hundred years, although he was used to being patronized by people for his appearance, it didn't change the truth that he was in fact their elder. Jubei then turns to face the man, while speaking at the same time before he even completely faces him.

"I have to be honest, i find the breast milk from your mother to be of a higher quality.Jubei said to the man in an agitated voice, and a small vein appearing and then disappearing as soon as it came. Jubei was truly not in the mood for a brawl, although he would have loved too. The truth of the matter, he was short on time. He had no way of telling just how far Harper and his band of cronies have made it into the ruins. For all he knew, they could be basking in the ambiance of the treasure trove this very moment. As Jubei faced the man, his appearance took him for surprise. He was used to dealing with groups of bandits, or other rowdy travelers such as himself. However, here stood a man, who looked the exact opposite of Jubei. The man stood at a towering height in comparison to the small framed swordsman, however this did not faze him in the slightest. Jubei has slain many enemies that could tower over this man, and knew size was no measure of a man's strength. His elegant clothing did cause Jubei to realize how dirty his clothing had become over the last few weeks on the road. Jubei looked down and dismissed it though as quickly as it came, not truly caring how his appearance looked at the moment. Not to mention he was about to go digging tirelessly in some ruins, and wreck havoc inside on some would be treasure hunters. His clothing might get ripped to shreds, let alone dirty.

"hmm...?" Jubei muttered in a low tone at the man as he looked into his face. Jubei's memory was fairly acute, and he could bring up things he had experienced decades ago. So he of course would remember the face of a fellow guild member, although he only seen him passingly at the guild castle, or some where within the kingdom.

"Dont tell me your here for the Treasure hunter job as well? I should have figured more people would respond to the job."Jubei said in a stiff tone, slightly upset at the fact that others would be entering into the ruins as well. He was ready to sink his fangs into Harper alone. However this could work out to his advantage, for if there is another individual inside, he wont have to waste too much strength on harper's accomplices.

The mother comment went right over Gil's head or rather he allowed it to. He had no response for the comment and wasn't offended in the way that a normal person might be. It wasn't the fact that the young boy was speaking of his mother vulgarly, no if anything Gil took it as an insult towards him. "As If MY mother would take in the likes of him." There it was, his classic self-absorbed attitude. None the less as the two stood there in a somewhat agitated silence, something clicked as he looked at the child's face.

Gil hardly recalled anyone other than himself, only if they were beautiful, interesting, or had offended him in some way did he recall others. When it came to the other members of Tartarus, Gil had made somewhat of an effort to try and recall as to what each of them looked like. Some members were easier to recall than others, as they were beautiful and stood out in his mind. Lyserg was an easy face for Gil simply because he had a bit of a grudge towards the man and his trickery. However, Gil only recalled this particular member simply because he stood out from the rest. Out of all the members of Tartarus that Gil had the displeasure of glimpsing, the boy who stood in front of him was the youngest or at least appeared to be the youngest. "Oh. It's you." He couldn't sound more bored if he tried. "I'm here for the Treasure Hunter job. Don't tell me you took it as well?" He seemed almost annoyed at the others presence and the fact that they had both managed to grab the same job. There was only nine members in Tartarus, and countless jobs to pick from, what was the likelihood of them both deciding to take the same job? "I shall allow you to accompany me on this job." It was only because he was curious as to what the child-like member of Tartarus could do, "Just try not to get in my way." His arrogance was quick to return, but it wasn't nearly as bad as usual. He figured he might as well make an effort to be be tolerable to his guild mates, unless of course they challenged him. Though Gil was curious as to what his guild mate was capable of, he was also somewhat relieved though would never show it. Having a second hand met he could push work onto the boy rather than having to do it himself.

Jubei face mirrored the feelings inside of him, after hearing the words escape from Gil's mouth. The young silver haired mage began to chuckle at the arrogant words the man spoke to him. His facial expressions and demeanor were bursting with conceit and Jubei couldn't help but find it all too funny. He has met many people over his life such as the man before him. However this one seemed a bit more. A bit more of all the traits he really didn't care for, yet he found rather amusing.

"Haha, O thank you so much my kind sir!" Jubei said sarcastically as he placed one hand in front of him, and one behind. He then lowered himself into a bow, as if he was lowering himself to royalty. However just as quick as he began to bow, Jubei fell to the ground laughing at his own joke. After wiping the tiny tears from his eyes, Jubei rolled back into his feet. He had never done a job, or a mission, or hell just a journey with a member of his Guild, and he was interested in their abilities. He knew of Lyserg's power, although he never truly experienced. It gave off such a powerful magical sensation, that a fool would attempt him in combat. Which is what helped burn the fuel to join Tartarus. Lyserg was an interesting man of exceedingly interesting tastes. Jubei wanted to know why Lyserg wished for this man to be the guild as well.

"Well, i guess these would be treasure hunters aren't gonna kick their own ass. Should we get going?" Jubei said with an air of loftiness still in a slightly giddy mood from his own joke. Jubei brushed a small amount of grass and dirt out of his hair, as he continued on the dirt path, hoping that the red eyed guild mate would join him.

"Im Jubei by the way....." The elder mage said to the taller one, as he folded his arms behind his head. Jubei was walking at a smooth, quick and quiet pace. He had developed long ago the ability to move at a swift pace, while maintaining soundless the entire time. As Jubei approached the entrance, he realized just how massive the ruins were. The door itself reached over 20 meters high, and the top is just the beginning. For its known for its long and winding paths that lead under ground. Jubei closed his eyes one last time, hoping to not get crushed by a random tunnel caving in. He laughed nervously at the thought of it, as he looked over towards Gil. Jubei took a step forward into the dark crypt, as the sun remained behind. As if to shout back to Jubei,

"No Dont go Jubei!" However it was too late Mr.Sun. Jubei was now engulfed in darkness, aside from the tiny lit lamps leading down the corridor. Jubei smiled at the lamps, knowing they were used by Harper and his men to help them find their way back out. Jubei inhaled a deep fresh breath of the cold ruins, and inhaled it back out happily. It was nearly perfectly quiet, aside from the crackling of the fire on the lamps. Jubei decided to walk over and grab on from the wall, just in case.

For a brief moment the conceited man thought that Jubei was being serious. Which pleased Gil until the young man burst out into laughter. At that Gil's regal features turned into a frown of the utmost disgust as the young man hit the ground laughing. Letting out a huff of air, Gil turned on his heel not wanting to watch the young man roll about in the dirt laughing at Gil's own expense. Once the laughter died down and the young man had straightened his already dusty clothes, Gil followed along after the boy. The hunters certainly would not kick their own asses. "I suppose I'll allow you to call me Gil." Was his response to Jubei's own informal introduction. While Jubei moved quick for such short legs, Gil was not far behind. His own long strides managed to keep up with the adolescents pace.

When the two entered Gil let out another huff of air. "Finally out of that heat." The man grumbled, having not enjoyed being in the sun for such a long period of time. Though only a few feet within the ruins entrance the drop in temperature was easily noticeable, the farther down they went the more the temperature would go down. "They've already entered." Gil commented as Jubei grabbed a torch, something Gil had not thought of or rather refused to carry. "If we're lucky they're lost down there." He continued on forwards and into the darkness of the ruins, not waiting to see if Jubei would follow. The sound of his boots upon the stone floor, echoed down the seemingly endless hallway. "We'd be even luckier if they all got crushed by some traps in here. I have no doubt the wizard saints had to have left a few to protect their treasures." The thought was a surprisingly helpful one coming from the likes of Gil but that was only because it was something he himself would do to protect his own treasures. The man suddenly stopped at the realization before turning to face Jubei once more, a sly grin spreading across his features. "I'll allow you to take the lead." He moved his hand out in a sweeping and extravagant motion. If there were any traps Gil would prefer the young man to take the lead, so as not to risk Gil's own well being. He had no doubt that Jubei realized why Gil wanted him to take the lead.

Jubei held one hand on the medium sized torch, that was some what bulky for his smaller than average stature. As he held it in one hand, he utilized his other free hand to securely fashion his bamboo stick, to the strap in his back. The blade's craftsmanship was a true work of art, however its stealth and its camouflaged ability was truly something to behold. There wouldn't be a soul alive, to be able to tell that wasn't some ordinary thick bamboo strapped to his back, and nothing else. After the hidden blade was tightly strapped, and immovable, Jubei began to pace himself behind Gil. He found the name interesting, as he never heard of such a name before. However, he lost interest just as soon as he found it, as he ran his hand along the smooth sides of the stone walls. He chuckled slightly at Gil's remark of the Hunters being lost.

"Heh, true  although i doubt it. Harper is....cut from a different cloth than the average plunderer. Though it would be lucky if we found them dead... Lucky for them anyway..." Jubei said letting out a snort, at the thought of these foolish crypt raiders actually being a challenge. He knew the chances we high that he could possibly be over ran with a lot of his crew to fight. However with a second pair of hands here, it should be a cake walk. Although he didn't have any idea of Gil's capabilities, he did respect Lyserg's judgment greatly.  Jubei continued to walk in silence behind Gil, his tiny leather bound boots being vastly over shadowed from the sounds of Gil's luxurious boots. Jubei began to wonder, was there anything this man owned that didn't seem to belong in the closet of some regal duke or such. Jubei's ear perked up at the mention of traps. Of course there were traps, there wasn't a hidden ruin in existence that didn't set up at least one protective trap. Not to mention some of the most powerful wizards to ever exist, they were no fools.

"Yeah, I think we better be on our P's and Q's as well. We could easily fall prey to...." Jubei stopped in mid sentence as he was interrupted by the actions and words of his fellow guild mate. The man actually moved out of the way, to allow Jubei to take the lead. Jubei let out another snicker as he passed by Gil, accepting the lead.

"Im glad you noticed my leadership persona. I have been told i emanate excellence and others can see it, haha." Jubei said laughing, knowing full well that was the last reason Gil motioned for him to take the lead, yet he would still poke fun at the arrogant man's actions. Jubei however was actually relieved to take the lead down the corridor, as for one he was the one with the burning torch, allowing him to provide more light than the one simply hanging on the walls. However the main reason, was Jubei was trained intensely by his father to notice every key detail. He was instilled to understand how key attention to detail is, and how it can save one's life. He has always believed this, and take extra care to notice what he can. This compiled with his magic, grants him incredible reaction speed. Jubei has been programmed to notice all attacks and traps at a much quicker pace than average.

"One would assume, that we could rest assure that until we get to the end of these torches, that we wouldn't need to worry about any traps..." Jubei began to say, as he lowered his torch slightly in front of him, to notice the change in elevation, as there was a deep decline they were now entering. The air grew several degrees cooler, as Jubei descended down into this particular section of the ruins. After once again placing his feet on solid ground, and back on the some what lit path, leading deeper into the ruins. He continued where he left off, unsure if Gil was even still behind him.

"...yet there are no way of telling if they some how avoided a trap, or....set one of their own."Jubei said as he stopped abruptly, and held his free hand up to alert Gil to stop moving as well. There was a small tiny wire, that just barely reflected from the small amount of light that is emitting from the torches down the hall. Jubei was unsure what the string was connected to, however didn't want to find out when he was surrounded in all directions by an earthen tunnel. The last thing he wanted was to accidentally set off an explosion, causing themselves to be caved in. Slowly, Jubei enclosed upon the string, before reaching one leg over. He took a moment to look at Gil in this position, to help him understand where the string was. He then lifted his other leg over the tiny clear string, before letting out a small sigh of relief.

"Indeed they should count themselves lucky." While Jubei had his own belief in his magic against the treasure hunters, Gil had just as a strong belief. At least between the two of them there was no doubt or shortage of confidence. Though, it was rather difficult for there to be a shortage of confidence in any situation in which Gil was placed. Crimson eyes rolled themselves as Jubei took the lead. Not being one to simply stand back and let the boy seem better than him, Gil had a rather snarky reply, "Oh do you now? I just wanted to put you in the front so I don't lose you. It is rather hard to keep track of something so small." If Jubei were to glance back he would see a rather feline like smirk cross over his features.

The man continued after the boy, never straying to far from him. He was always within the small circle of light that the torch had cast. He was only half-listening to the boy's commentary on traps. At the steep decline and chilly air, he wrinkled his nose in distaste before following after the boy once more. The blonde, only half paying attention nearly walked right into Jubei when he suddenly stopped. Gil was about to lash out in anger when he realized why Jubei had stopped. He almost commented the boy on his good eye but thought better of it. "Don't want him getting full of himself." Gil thought as he watched Jubei purposely go slow over the trap wire. "As if I need him to show me where this stupid wire is." He stepped over the thin wire. One foot made it over but the man suddenly stopped.

"Jubei." Irritation was thick in his voice. If the young swordsman was to turn around he would see Gil frozen in place, one foot on either side of the trap wire that was close to the ground. The main problem was the silvery wire pressing against his temple. While Jubei had managed to clear through with ease, Gil was nearly a foot taller than and a full grown man at that. It was only natural that Jubei's own childlike stature would make it through, and he wouldn't notice the wire nearly a foot above him. None the less Gil held Jubei responsible for it. "Well I suppose we get ready to run." The man grumbled, the wire was already pressed and at this point it was just waiting for Gil to move.

Jubei pretended to ignore the remark Gil made about his stature, unable to think of a proper retort to lash back at him. Although a few ideas ran through about how he was small in size, but bigger in his under garments. However, he was unable to string together anything that sounded remotely witty, and instead just snorted at the remark in a small tone. Jubei wasn't one who particularly enjoyed it when some one called him a child, kid or anything similar. However he was already growing accustomed to the pokes and vocal jabs from Gil. Jubei escaping the trap wire safely, and continued down the chilly corridor looking for any others, when an annoying voice called out to him from behind.

"Ugh... What is it now?" Jubei responded slightly irritated as he turned around to face his guild mate who's height was enough to annoy him as it was. The young blue eyed mage's eyes opened a bit larger than the normal, as he came to realize what Gil was upset about. The wire wasn't nearly noticeable to Jubei, however as he looked upward, he saw it flickering in the lamp. Jubei laughed in response to Gil's command to prepare for running, as he was already making slow steady paces backwards away from Gil, and his almost guaranteed explosion." I swear, your big ass head will collide with all kinds of things, huh?" Jubei said still laughing towards the fellow Tartarus member. Jubei however turned to face away from Gil, in case a large boulder should begin making its way down the tunnel, stampeding downward in an attempt to crush all intruders.

"Do what ya gotta do, If ya dont make it......ha ha"Jubei said to his possibly departing comrade as he laughed greatly towards the end of his statement. He was preparing himself for the oncoming trap left from the past great wizard saints.

Gil felt a vein twitch in anger at his childlike teammate's sound of annoyance. "How dare he be annoyed with me. If anything he should be begging for forgiveness." He was mildly surprised when Jubei began to laugh and slowly but surely back away. He knew he told the kid to run but at the same time he thought that Jubei would at least try to help him, not that he needed help or anything. "My what? I'll have you know that this is what a perfect head looks like!" Gil growled out in anger as Jubei turned around still laughing. "Do what I gotta do?" Anger was thick in his voice now. Clearly, Jubei could care less as to what became of his guild mate. "Two can play that game." Gil pressed forward the wire snapping against his forehead. For a brief adrenaline filled moment, Gil waited and prepared himself for whatever may come from the trap.

"Oh it didn't go off." As if on cue a sudden rumbling from above caused Gil to turn. "How cliche." A large boulder was rolling down the same way in which they had came. Not one to pause for a moment longer Gil sprung into action. “I command thee Cheetah to defend and protect your rightful King. Come to my side.” The cheetah appeared by his side in a flash of golden light. "Go!" Gil commanded and the spotted beast took off, its master right behind it. He had summoned the feline for one reason, the massive increase in speed he gained. Soon enough Gil had caught up with Jubei and snagged him by the collar. "Count yourself lucky that I'm not like you." The boulder was rumbling behind them, the stone floor shaking from its weight as it rolled towards them. "I don't leave people behind. Sometimes." Tightening his grip on the boys collar, he ran forward and faster pushing his speed to the max, half dragging Jubei behind him. "At least he's light." While the path continued on forward, Gil spotted a sudden turn into another hallway of sorts. "Turn!" He shouted to the spotted feline in front of them, the cat dashed into the hallway and Gil followed after it.

Finally, the man paused for breath and released his grip on Jubei's collar. The large boulder rolled past them and continued down the path they had originally been travelling.

Jubei watched with a grand smile, and utter anticipation to what his guild mate would decide on doing. To his surprise, Gil pushed forward through the wire, causing it to make a small snap, that still echoed in the underground tunnel.

"Haha, really?" Jubei said when nothing seemingly happened after the wire broke. Perhaps it was too old, or a dud to trick invaders. However, withing several seconds the ground began to shake. Jubei began to laugh even more as the a large boulder came crashing down. After summoning a cheetah next to him , Gil charged forward towards the direction of Jubei, and away from the boulder. Upon reaching Jubei, Gil made an attempt to grab his shirt collar. Jubei's reaction speed was quick as lightning, and he could see his hand reaching for his shirt. However instead of maneuvering out of the way, he allowed Gil to grab him and bring him for the ride. The young wizard was lifted off his feet and being pulled by Gil, as he look back toward the Boulder, still smiling at it. He heard Gil mumble something about not leaving his friends behind, which only caused Jubei to snicker as he thought about how "fast" they were currently going.

"Leave behind? Haha, i didn't think of it as leaving you behind. Just figured, if you couldn't make it, ya couldn't make it haha."Jubei said still laughing as he was being pulled in the back. After several paces,Gil moves into another hallway, exiting the current corridor. Jubei was eventually back onto his feet, and did a light dust off his shoulder on the side on which Gil clenched. He fixed his shirt back to the way it was, then swiftly began moving forward in the new hallway as if nothing just happened. Jubei began to whistle a favorite tune of his, as he dug deep into his"Magic Box" and pulled out a small button. He pressed the button, causing a tiny explosion similar to a small fire cracker. The button transformed into a "Flute", that Jubei immediately began to play. Jubei walked in a slow brisk pace, as he began to play a beautiful tone, that sounded absolutely enchanting as it reverberated through out the halls.

"It'll take a lot more than some cheesy traps to kill a man like me. You best remember that boy." His red eyes narrowed down at the child, before turning to check over his own appearance. Brushing off any dust that might have speckled his clothes, and slicking back his golden hair Gil had returned back to normal as if he did not just run for his life from a boulder. Not that the whole ordeal truly startled him if anything it was simply viewed as an inconvenience. The cheetah disappeared from his side with a flash of gold, Gil not even batting an eye at the feline's disappearance.

Just as he had taken his first step down the corridor, a sound of sorts caused him to stop. Glancing back Gil could only let out a sigh and bring a hand to rub at his temple, where a headache was beginning to form. "Yes let's play the flute to let all of the bandits know that we are here." He growled under his breath, apparently the flute would alert them to their presence more so than the boulder that he had just sent crashing down the hall. Still, the instrument did have a nice sound to it though Gil would never admit that aloud. "Where does a kid his age find the time to learn to play such an instrument and be a mage at the same time?" His curiosity was like that of a cats, but much like a cat he kept his distance from the boy leading them down the hall. "If I wanted to I could play better." The arrogant thought slipped through his head just as fast is had initially came. Abruptly the man stopped, holding a hand up stop Jubei as well. "Do you hear that?" He was certain he had just heard a sound that was not coming for Jubei or even himself, rather it was something down the hall.
