It really had been far too long since Takumi had last been here, in Magnolia, where his guild and family were. The last time he’d lived here the twins had been newborns, just barely old enough to open their own eyes. Now, in what felt like the blink of an eye, they’d grown to be rambunctious toddlers with a level of maturity that was rare in kids. They were growing up so quickly already, were they really 3 years old so soon? It felt like hardly any time had passed at all, and yet like decades had passed at the same time. Really, where had his sense of time gone?
Takumi had to lean against the sink where he’d previously been washing the dishes as he took a minute to reflect on all that had happened, both in the lives of his children and since he’d even joined Fairy Tail for the first time.
Had he really been so young and foolish, once? The memory of attacking Heero with an ice dragon while Wist divebombed the then guildmaster was an amusing one, though it also brought overwhelming nostalgia with it. His first interaction with anybody in the guild, and to this day he couldn’t tell if Heero had actually been surprised at his attack or not. Then again, that man had always been as much of an enigma as his daughter, who Takumi had known far better than the former master. Hera, now she was someone Takumi had had a strong connection to. Regardless of any flirting she’d done with him, she was a close friend and the only slayer he’d ever really closely interacted with besides himself.
He couldn’t help but wince at the memory of their most ill-fated job, though. They’d worked together so well as a team, but dropping the building on Takumi was a bit much even for the strong-willed slayer. Even so, all those memories of the woman he’d come to trust as one of his closest friends were fond ones.
