A young woman would by laying down on her back, surrounded by lilies falling around her and by her side.  She was not conscious and as a result, vulnerable to any passerby.  In a precarious location such as hers, however, she needn't worry about it.  The scenery as it stood now, however, was unusual when taking into account what was there prior to her arrival, and how it all appeared to just...  Vanish.  Yet, that is was transpired a mere hour prior.

    Or was it more?

Either way, Seru would be unaware.  In fact, as it currently stood, she wouldn't even remember the mass genocide that took place where she was resting at that very moment, being somewhat included in it herself, and there would be no trace to remember it, either.  No signs of the village, no signs of the villagers, no signs of the fire or blood...  Gone.  All that remained was Seru laying in the pile of lilies.  Life was being made apparent in the young woman, however, and as her eyes began to slowly open, a raging pain struck her head.

With grogginess, she rose just enough to lay on her elbows somewhat comfortably, rising to a more proper sitting position.  She would rest a hand on her head because of the pain, though it quickly subsided.  She looked down at her hands and above her head; lilies everywhere.  Somewhat confused, she shakily returned to her feet, though quickly gained her composure.  She looked around with no recognition of where she was.  Come to think of it, she didn't know anything, with the exception of the short encounter Aegis and her had.

Where was she in this world?

    I HAVE BECOME DEATH
    the destroyer of worlds
    TAGGED: ...   |   WORDS: 502   |  NOTES: ...
"You devastated this place..." Marcel thought silently to himself as he wove through the fallen lilies and carnage. The fiery dots of his eyes glanced his surroundings over... not even his decay magic could have an effect on this place. It was already so dead and forgotten that it was like he had passed through here once before, but he hadn't.

"That's what Death is supposed to do, isn't it?" a voice responded in Marcel's head, sounding as if it was smirking at him. "Besides, I hear my little servant was getting tired of taking all of those lives... well, look at the power that I have."

He merely shook his head at Death's words, not baffled by its choice of actions, as he expected dramatizes such as this from it. "Do you surmise that I'll be amazed by your prowess? I have no intentions of being as strong as you, so feel free to flaunt your power all you want. As we've established, this is only a servant and master relationship; I will do as you please, not look to your equal or higher..."

Ash swirled around him from air around him, until nothing was left of the man that had been walking through the fallen place. These specks of ash fluttered through the breeze, carried by it, high over the landscape that Seru was resting in. They were ever vigilant for the signs of life, but as they traveled along, no such sign happened to exist for them. It was silent, eerily so... but that which had sounded close to the floating ash, caused it to turn that way. Soon after, the cloud was flitting over the sleeping form of a young lady, to which Death had become curious. The falling and rising of her chest... she was alive... a survive of this horrid place, and Marcel watched her for a moment.

"Seems you missed someone, Death..." he thought, with eyes observing the sleeping beauty.

    "I suppose I have..."

    "Shall I... dispose of her?"

"Do as you will, my servant."

She stirred and Marcel's curiosity burst at how she could be living in the carnage that rest around her. The ash darted in front of her, then to the backside of Seru; thereafter, forming into the shape of Marcel.

"Oh... so Sleeping Beauty does live?" the dark mage comment through the tall collar of his crimson-colored cloak.

Sudden movements of an ashen mist startled Seru, in front and then backwards.  This existence in particular was one that possessed some magical ability; defensive instincts came from Seru as she spun around as a brilliant cyan colour formed into a shape of a dagger, and then materialized itself to being one, stopping right before she was able to drive it into whatever it was that was behind her once she heard a voice.  In actuality, she was slow.  This new body of hers she was not accustomed to, as such making her movements very clunky and slow in comparison to what they could be, yet this being was still at her mercy, not because she managed to outclass him in speed, but simply because it chose not to strike her down.

Which, would have ended her life right then and there.

The dagger broke like a mirror and its shattered remains quickly evaporated into nothingness, Seru taking a good look at this entity that stood behind her.  A man unlike any other she had seen, though her only comparison was Aegis; it was as though they were exact opposites on the spectrum.  This man associated more with red, unlike Aegis who generally went with blue, was the most notable feature in appearance when comparing the two.  He did not appear to mean any harm, however, yet, her defensive instincts immediately went on alert the moment he made himself known to the young woman.  They were both incredibly tall, though this man was taller.  She couldn't make out his face as well as she would of liked to, though.

For the first few moments, she didn't say a word, only stared at him with curiosity.  She was like a newborn in the world, after all, so anything new at all would fascinate her.  When she came to her own thoughts about the man, she gave him a light smile.  "Yes...  I am not dead."  She paused briefly and tilted her head slightly, "I need to know, though, who are you?  And where am I?  The most important question is why are you here?  The surroundings appear to be very silent with little to no activity."  Realizing, she sighed and giggled.  "Ah, excuse me, that was rude of me!  My name is...  Seru.  Yes, that's right.  I'm afraid I cannot really tell you much more about myself...  I do hope this suffices!"

With a feeble mind with limitless power within, Seru could be convinced of most things, unless the fragments of memories appeared.  Still, this would only happen if her own "destiny" felt majorly threatened.  For now, however, she was only curious of the world, and the man standing in front of her, evident by how many questions she had already asked him.

    So, how would he react?

    I HAVE BECOME DEATH
    the destroyer of worlds
    TAGGED: ...   |   WORDS: 502   |  NOTES: ...

A peculiar question for a lady of utmost beauty to ask him, but he supposed that withholding knowledge from her was the wrong thing to do...

Blinking, the zombie-eyed mage glanced away from her momentarily, running through his head the riddles and answers he could give. "I... am here only by means of my master; he who goes by the name of that which ends all of life: Death," Marcel answered. "By no means of my own am I here, other than to restore order to a place in which Death has taken far too many." Not that he could restore order to a place, rather than simply decay what was left of it, leaving it for dead. This was what life was to Him; take what needed to be taken, and let His servant finish what else was left of the world. "He told me to do as I please with you, which from Him is a surprise, for surely he would've ask for me to have take your life..." The mage shrugged, however, resulting in how he felt toward the situation and that he would not steal her life, but take from what was around them.

"Seru... what a pretty name," the man rumbled in a low tone, almost as if he had purred the woman's name out. Flattery would get him nowhere though, but now was his time to question the woman on why she was here. Wait... she did not know though, he must remember that, so there was not point in asking why she was here. Oh, but she had asked him who he was as well, perhaps he should not keep her waiting on that answer either... "Marcel Anicetus, at your service," he added after, bowing partially before her, then straightening his posture. His fiery eyes never faltered from her face, curiously watching the emotions that would briefly cross over them. Most intriguing was she, as he never thought to find a living doe in a field of death, where the hunter roamed.

Such a sickly place this was, and nothing was there that he could do for the place, in which Death had ravished. "No... recollection... of how you had gotten here? What has happened or why some many have died from here?" A pity that was, but he would not press for something that the lady could simply not answer for him right now. He would discover the means of death here at some point, whether it was getting it out from Death, Himself, or not. The mage stood for a moment of silence, then proceeded to extend out his black-gloved hand toward Seru. "Shall I escort you out of this deathly world then? A lovely lady like you shouldn't catch the virus that evolves into death."

    Curious.

This man was telling her odd things, some she couldn't fully comprehend, to be honest, yet, her instincts were right in attempting to defend herself because he had mentioned that if it not for his master feeling...  Odd, so to speak, she would be dead.  Still, he would not have another opportunity as he did before, yet, she felt no malicious intent behind his words and actions, so she was completely relaxed, still smiling softly.  Yet, something was odd; he described the area that they were in as dead, and deathly, yet, wherever she looked, she saw only lilies.  Was she perhaps blinded by something?  Well...  She couldn't really tell, to be honest; her vision was a bit hazy, after all.

It was at that moment that she realized she was dizzy, too, but had to at the very least address this kind gentleman before her.  "Marcel...  Anicetus.  Yes...  A nice name.  I'll be sure to remember it!  To answer your question, yes...  Unfortunately, that is my current situation.  In fact, I cannot recall anyone, or anything for that matter, of this world.  I'm certain that there must be something, but, right now, there is nothing." was said with a slight hint of regret with it, though her light smile always remained.  A hand reached out for her which would take her to places unknown to her, yet, that had an oddly exciting hint to it, presumably so Seru would be able to discover more of the world she resided in.  She was like a newborn in that sense, after all.

She took his hand gently.  "Very well," she stated clearly, "I do not understand everything you are telling me, but I will trust you.  Let us go someplace new, I feel that I may need it!  Lead the way, Sir Anicetus!"  Obvious signs of excitement could be detected in her voice.  She wasn't certain where Marcel would lead her, though, that was half of the excitement itself.  Where would this person lead her?  She was far from certain, yet, felt oddly comfortable with it, though, really, she wasn't too uncomfortable with anything at this point.

    I HAVE BECOME DEATH
    the destroyer of worlds
    TAGGED: ...   |   WORDS: ###   |  NOTES: ...
Why was this that he called the world around him "dead?" It was because his magic was destined to kill it all. No one, not a single animal, plant, or human, would be able to escape Death's grasp, as unfortunate as that sounded. Decay would eat at them until nothing was left of them, but the bones which had been the base of their being. This was how his magic worked; this was what kept the immortal man alive, when life around him was taken... He took what was needed to be taken, all by the means of keeping himself alive for what would be an eternity. While the world to Seru would serene and beautiful, to him, he could only see the devastation that would be wrought here. Death was his companion and Death was what would bring this world to light for those who were afraid to die.

Seru was a strange woman, definitely, and that was what intrigued him about her, for she knew nothing of this world, yet was a part of it. Her hand clasped his, as she did so, he would lead her away from the cliff side, down the long ocean of lilies. He was taking her nowhere in particular, but on a walk through the pretty flowers that shrouded the death he saw. Serene was this cliff, but by other means; a dark past held here that he was well aware of, thanks to his companion. Perhaps, that was what made this cliff so beautiful, though how did the lilies prosper on the ones who died here? Were lilies just like he was? Things that took from life essence in order to grow and bloom into the world? Marcel had not thought of this before, and instead of seeing the death and decay for once, he was staring at the white lilies.

Words were not necessary for the man right now, but she was more than welcome to carry on the conversation. Unfortunately, he was not much of a talker, if at all, resulting in conversing with him being far more difficult than naturally. Yes, he may have spoken much at the time; however, he had nothing to talk of to this confusing woman, as confusing as he was to her. It wasn't that he was bored of her already. My, he would never get bored of her, for there was too much to learn about her. The issue was, as much as he wanted to know things of this mysterious beauty, she knew nothing valuable for him.

"Death is a beautiful thing, and I supposed I had never stopped to see that Life is just as beautiful as Death," he murmured. Maybe in this time, he would able to learn more of himself, rather than what he wanted to know of Seru.

    Find what he was...

When Seru took the hand of Marcel, they began the trek down the Serene Cliff which appeared to be showered with lilies along the way.  She took this time to appreciate her surroundings and how beautiful they really were, though she quickly got distracted by the fact that Marcel, too, was awed by the lilies, which brought her a light smile; almost immediately, he came across as the type whom doesn't admire much of anything, so she was pleasantly surprised.  Unsurprisingly, however, he wasn't saying much.  He spoke very direct and to the point, so it wasn't the most surprising thing in the world to see that she was dealing with a man of few words.

Honestly, she wasn't sure what to say, either.  It wasn't because she didn't want to say anything, but more like she didn't know what to say; she didn't know anything about world events, famous characters, or even places.  There was literally NOTHING for her to discuss with this man that she could think of...  Well, then again, she wasn't thinking much to begin with, and that's when she realized that she hardly even knew the man to begin with.  She'd love to speak more about herself so he could feel more comfortable with her, but...  She couldn't.  Quite literally.  She lightly squeezed his hand in an attempt to get his attention.  "Sir Anicetus!  I...  Do have a request of you." she stopped whilst still holding his hand, hoping he too would cease movement.

Whether or not he'd stop, she'd continue,  "As I have told you, I know nothing of this world.  I can only remember my name.  It's because of this I find it a challenge to converse with you; I do not know what to speak of.  If it's not too much trouble, would you...  Show me more of this world?"  She was asking for an incredibly selfish request, she knew, but her curiosity was that of a newborn child; everything fascinated her.  "I do not mind if you decline this request of mine, but, just know, I would truly appreciate it!" she said with a smile; one could feel the warmth and sincerity in her words. He was a strange man, however; when she tried peering into his being, it would be... Dark, as though something was blocking from her seeing him as he truly was.

She didn't mind, though. She already trusted this man.

    I HAVE BECOME DEATH
    the destroyer of worlds
    TAGGED: ...   |   WORDS: ###   |  NOTES: ...
The world of lilies was most intriguing to the man, and he reached out to touch one of the white flowers dancing in the wind. However, the moment his finger embraced the beauty of the white lily, the shade turned from innocence to corruption. It coursed over the small being as quickly as it had started, eating away at what beauty had once been there. This left the flower in a state of decay, where the petals wilted and bowed to him as if he was their master. Marcel frowned at the sight of the dead flower and pulled his hand away, curling it into a tight fist by his side. His reddened eyes darted away from the dead flora, not wanting to see what his hands had created by touching it. Something so sweet and innocent had died before him and he could do nothing for the life he had just taken.

The flower, he had wanted to give to Seru, as a token of appreciation toward something that was so pure and lovely as her. That had proven to be much more difficult than Marcel had wanted to be, and thus, pulled his other hand free of hers. Who knew how long it would take before the decay would reach her and start eating away at her as well. Perhaps, it was best if he just kept his distance from her and focused on making sure she remained alive and well. In that moment though, she would speak up and the mage glanced from his hands to her face in a quiet manner. She was requesting something of him? Why would she request something from a being who could only kill what it touched? His eyes darted back down to his hands and he stared at them while she inquired about him being a guide to her.

"I do not wish to hurt you," he began, eyes still staring deeply at the palms of his hands, as if they were only weapons. "I would be your guide otherwise, as long as you do not touch me and keep your distance from my place." He would take as much precaution has he needed, to make sure he did not carelessly kill like Death would do. She smiled at him, in which it was a gesture the deathly mage could not openly return the beauty before him. In his mind, it would run rampant to keep his distance from her, so as not to hurt her with the magic he controlled.
