Job Requirements: Find the crypt. Get passed the booby traps. Solve the four puzzles. Defeat the guardian. Get the artefact. Get out.
Job Description:
You and your ally find a "Help Wanted" poster nailed to the side of a museum. You take it to the curator and he looks at you wide-eyed and in awe. "Well, I never thought someone would actually take this job. You two are the bravest or dumbest... souls I have ever met. Ok, lemme give you the mission details. I am only missing one piece of the Lost Magic Artifact exhibit over in our main room upstairs, we only need one thing, the grand staff of the arc, said to contain the power of all arc magic. Of course, it's been deactivated for some time, lost all its power and what have you, anyways... I have to have it, it's all I need. There's only one problem, I don't know where it is. All I have is a map of where I think it is, it's up to you two to figure out if it truly is where I hope. Legend also has it that inside, is a crypt protecting the staff, you two will need a way to get passed the needle ceilings, poison dart shooting walls, pits full of snakes, jump over lava, all that stereotypical crypt nonsense. Then, you will have to get through four rooms each containing a puzzle more difficult than the last, I haven't heard much of them so you'll have to work off the wing, as they say. After that, you will have to face the guardian, no one's ever seen or heard legends about the guardian, so be prepared, and finally, the artefact, it's probably booby trapped, also when you pick it up, you'll be unable to use magic for the escape. Be prepared for the worst, I believe in you two!" Even you realise how dead you are, but fortune favours the bold, as they say...
Enemies:
Weak: Locust (C-ranked)
Those are a must for any crypt, these little buggers come twenty at a time. They are difficult to hit and bite, but it's more like a tickle to an A ranked mage. Unless there are forty or more, you shouldn't have any trouble at all with them.
Normal: Sand Leopards (B-ranked)
They wander around aimlessly in the hallways of the crypt, while not too dangerous solo, in packs of three they could tear apart a B rank mage with ease. Their bites will penetrate B defences, if two bite one B defence, it will break, if three on an A ranked defence, it will break. Their claws are as sharp as glass, so watch out for these predators. Technically, they are golems, they are bound by magic emanating from the crypt, in case you wondered.
Strong: Anubis statues (A-ranked)
They are relatively strong enemies that appear in the final chamber after the puzzle is solved, you must defeat them in order to pass. There are four in each corner of the room all painted black and their eyes will glow red when coming to life. They are equipped with spears that can break B rank shields in two hits and burn 8% mana every time their tips come in contact with a mage, they cannot cast magic, but are still dangerous. It requires an absolute master in melee combat to be able to take on more than one of them at a time. They also litter the hallways of the crypt.
Boss: The Guardian (A-rank)
He appears automatically, therefore, if rolled, it will automatically be a strong enemy. The Guardian is none other than a giant sphinx that can use powerful sand magic. The Guardian will defend the artefact as long as it lives and it takes 15 B-ranked hits to take him down.- Abilities:
- Sand Barrier: The Guardian creates a barrier of sand impenetrable by C and below spells. A B-rank spell will damage the shield, taking half of its durability and an A-rank spell with take 75% of it. He activates this shield every 3 posts, refreshing its durability if it is active already.
Sand Stomp: The Guardian raises a paw and covers it completely in sand, enlarging it, then, slams it down onto the enemy. It will break any shield of rank B and under, and will only yield to shield spells ranked A and above, but only barely to A rank shields. The sphinx will use this every time it has the chance and it deals A-ranked damage.
Roar of Sand: The Guardian begins sucking up all the sand in the general vicinity and charges for three posts, it's still able to attack during this time. When it is completed, the Guardian lets out a roar that easily breaks Mach 3, sending a tidal wave of concentrated sand at the enemy, bypassing shields below S-rank completely and dealing 4 A-ranked damages upon hitting a player. The sphinx will be stunned for a post after this, whereas anyone hit will be stunned for 2, provided they are still alive.
Reward: 35,000 Jewels each.
In his quarters in the guild hall, the silver haired Ex-Quip Dark Mage was taking a well-deserved long rest. He lay on his bed, his eyes closed and for all the world would appear to be simply asleep... which is what he wished he could be right now but he could not because Pride and Tessa were engaged in one of their more recent debates over the purpose of power and meaning thereof. "Could you two at least wait till I'm asleep before you two start verbally smacking each other around in my damn skull?" Za'cha asked with a grumbling snarl. "Not really." said the Spirit of the Weapon of Death. "You go to sleep and it makes it harder for me to speak to either of you, since you're my wielder and not actually in your damn skull." she answered, her tone just oh so full of smirks.
The Ex-Quip mage grumbled and sighed. "Look... is it too much to ask for a damn rest once in a while eh? Think my body deserves a rest now and then." said the human host before clutching his skull as the Dark Celestial Spirit within him decided to exert some manner of magical punishment inside his skull. "What the flying fuck was that for you arsehole?!" cursed Za'cha at the Dark Celestial Spirit, glaring at the golden haired spirit. Pride merely looked on at his host with a frown. "You cannot afford to rest yet... Or have you forgotten your deal? You are meant to be constructing a method for me to utilise all of my powers without having to be bound to a Summoner's Will. So far, we have only the Aegis, and that only grants your flesh my physical capabilities, and even then, only when your own body weakens." the Dark Celestial Spirit reminded Za'cha who merely grunted and waved at him dismissively.
"It's a work in progress... which would go a damn sight faster if you would actually tell me what your mysterious powers are supposed to be anyways!" Za'cha rebuked, Pride snorting in derision. "I have no need to explain myself to you mortal. All that is required is that you continue your work until I say otherwise." The Dark Mage stood up and snarled at Pride, face to ethereal face, at least from his perspective. "Listen you bloody Spirit... I have my own damn work to do, not just your damned whims. Or should I just leave your Key under Nakiya's door eh?" threatened the magus, earning himself another quick jolt of pain from Pride.
"You would do well to remember who is truly in the position of power here mortal." warned the Dark Celestial Spirit, Za'cha snarling at the being only he could see. "The minute... that Nakiya gets the other six... and she gets you... the minute she summons you Pride... I'm taking your damned head from your damn shoulders..." the human mage threatened the Dark Spirit before he decided to vent some steam and opened his door, intending to find something to smash or slash.
