    Job Info:

Lucille sighed as she tilted her hat downwards, in order to block the sun from getting into her eyes as she trudged through the desert in order to get to her next job. It was an awfully boring one, just answering to an old lunatic archeologist who had stumbled upon a dig site that had found the remains of an old and long forgotten creature. Lucille had already had quite the adventures on her last two jobs in Oak Town, and despite getting much needed bloodlust out, she was still utterly bored and in need to get something productive done soon. No leads had been made on how to revive her mother, and she was definitely upset with the word that her father had begun a long search for her. True, she had killed about three unlucky Rune Knights recently who noticed she fit the description of the missing child, but nothing was getting done by just slaughtering numerous enemies for no reason. No one in the guild had made any moves recently, and while she didn’t have a problem with waiting she thought that they were going to make themselves known again. It was irritating to be waiting for something to happen, and not even be able to slap a few people around without getting in trouble with the higher ups in her guild. Lucille was lucky that no one had figured out the dark mage going around causing havoc in Oak Town was her, otherwise she was certain she would be in some deep crap. But, those were thoughts for later.

For now, she had to get to an archeological dig site. And maybe kill someone if they bugged her, but that was just wishful thinking right?

Soon, the Tartarus mage noticed something in the distance, and it appeared to be a camp. Making her way over there quickly she was greeted by a few young archeologists here and there going about trying to get things prepared for the mage that was to come. Lucille was surprised that as many people had shown up here as they did, most notably the ones who seemed to be part of a larger organization of some sort. They all wore the same coat with a weird sun symbol on the back, but the blood mage was soon snapped out of her trance by an old man with a big poofy and fuzzy white afro, and a thick white moustache to go along with it.

“Are you the one who is Kyra Washington?” He asked her, to which Lucille nodded in order to keep her appearances up about her fake name that she used for this job. The man smiled after she did so, and pat her on the back. Now for anyone who didn’t know, Lucille hates being touched by people she doesn’t know or give respect to. And this was an unknown man, so her hatred level for him immediately shot up to ‘Kill if he isn’t the client’. The man laughed heartedly, which was annoying in the ears of the blood maid, and then looked at her again. “My name is Professor North Wallington. We here are a part of a select and secret group of people, who have been chosen to find a rare creature. What it is yet even I do not have an earthly clue to, but it must be something glorious since the people who were originally here had abandoned it all so we can gloriously find it. I hope you won’t mind helping us dig for it no?” Lucille shook her head at the question, showing she was all for digging this damn thing up. The less amount of time she spent around these crackpots the more time she could spend complaining at home about the fact that she didn’t get any good missions. “Good. Let’s get going then, we don’t want to waste all day sitting around here doing nothing.” The professor pointed Lucille towards some digging equipment, and the blood maid went over to it and grabbed it. The professor took her back out towards the desert, where she would be digging out of a huge mound of sand. The Tartarus mage immediately took out a shovel and began to work, along with a few others who wanted this to go by fast.

Time seemed to move at a nice enough pace, to where the people around Lucille got comfortable enough to begin talking about their group. It seemed as though they were a quiet society funded by the Magic Council in order to gain ground in the field of archeology. While that was boring, what was more interesting to the blood maid was the rumor that they also had a second job of weeding out any potential rebels the council has suspicion to believe might turn on them. This meant that these guys were also trained in some form of fighting, so that they could take down a rogue element with little to no trouble. It made her wonder what they were truly here for, as this dig was nothing more than a ruse to lure out maybe one of the more rebellious young men in their group.

And it indeed did that, as three young men with weapons stopped digging and ordered for everyone to immediately put their hands in the air. This caused the archeologists who were digging to indeed raise their hands, but no one had apparently told these young fellows that a dark mage was going to come by and be a part of the dig. They tried to get Lucille to surrender, but she only looked at them with a vacant, blank look before her hat seemingly imbedded itself into the throat of one of the young men. He fell lifelessly to the ground, and his buddies were in shock. So were the innocents who had been digging with the blood maid, surprised at the brutal force she used to kill the man. Lucille didn’t stop there, immediately ducking low and rushing one of the men to put him in a sleeperhold. The man dropped his weapon and tried to release himself from the grip of Lucille, but he soon found that the Tartarus mage had a whole lot of strength behind her seemingly small arms. He was no match, and his buddy who had acquired a gun was no better when he decided to shoot at Lucille. The blue haired woman used her current captive as a bullet sponge, allowing him to soak up all the bullets that his friend decided it would be a good idea to fire and pushed him into the other idiot, both being knocked down immediately. The sponge was now dead, and his friend in a predicament as Lucille leaped high and brought her full weight down onto his skull, crushing it and immediately killing him. All three were now dead, and Lucille just went back to shoveling the sand away to find what it was that these guys were so dead set on getting. Eventually, the archeologists snapped out of their funk and started to help Lucille again. She stayed quiet throughout the entire time of the dig, not saying a word as it was not needed. She had indeed protected them, and made sure that no one was going to harm them. It was a weird feeling that started bubbling in Lucille’s gut, one that she squashed immediately and just continued to dig.

She was no goody goody. She was a dark mage, and there was nothing in the world that would change that. It was a one time thing that just occurred, and no other time would she save her enemies. As the blue haired woman continued to tell herself this, someone cleaned her hat and brought it back to her, not knowing that he had saved her from an embarrassing situation of maybe killing all of the archeologists here. Her magic would have made her go bonkers as soon as her hat touched her head, and she was lucky that not any blood got on her during the fight. Tartarus did not need to be exposed so quickly and that meant keeping a low profile. Even if a guild like Savage Skull was more suited to her darker tastes, she felt that Tartarus was the best pick. So she needed to play by the rules the guild had set up for her, and be a little good soldier. Lucille wasn’t strong enough to deny them anyways, so she would just continue to be what she always was.

    ----------------------------------------

As the dig had finished, Lucille was sitting around waiting for the professor to come back and allow her to leave. Wallington had commended her on the success of the mission, and with what she did against the men who had threatened the other workers. He approved of the killing, which only made Lucille wonder what type of dark tastes the man had himself for anyone who was a rebel. Wallington came towards her from a tent and placed a bag of jewels in her hands, smiling brightly.

“We thank you Miss Washington. Without you, we may have lost some good men today. Of course the loss of life might be considered a tragedy, but thats the price they paid for challenging you.” Lucille nodded, which made the professor laugh. The blood maid bowed and began to walk away as the man walked into his tent to continue his research on the fossil they had found. Lucille was once again a bit richer and a bit more wiser to her talents, and had sated some more of her bloodlust. Maybe things were going alright.

Of course once again, unbeknownst to our blue haired dark mage, she was being followed by a blonde haired person. Who vanished when the wind picked up some sand, not to be seen again.
