    Job description:

Earthland, an unknown frontier to most of those who live in Fiore. But now that Count Sparrow and the Magic Council has opened their borders, that frontier has suddenly became accessible. And now at several location around Fiore, citizens, mages and other flood together. Hoping they could obtain a passport and travel to a nearby kingdom and find their luck there. But with the borders now open, it also attracts those of a more darker nature...

Even though Frederick was planning to board one of the more expensive cruises towards an other country, it still didn't mean that he could easily walk through the crowd of people. Who were all waiting in front of the city hall stands. Each and every one of them planning in obtaining a passport.
Sure Frederick could just force his way through them. But then his cover would be blown, and the chance to get a passport was gone. And why ruin it now, even when he had gone so far. That he traded in his usual dark attire of a hooded cloak for a more casual an refined outfit. A grey blouse with a black waistcoat above it. That had golden weaved edges. Grey kaki pants with black colored noble boots. And a black cape that hung only over his left shoulder, giving him a more noble appearance. But to hide at least some of his face, he'd still wore a black cavalier hat. Not that anyone knew who he really was, or how he looked like.

It was really bothersome to stand in line, with people who were beyond rude. But if Frederick wanted foreign assets and infiltrate the politics of that land he had to go through the proper ways. But when he looked around and compared everyone to himself, he could only sigh.
That was until his eye fell upon a peculiar young girl.

Waiting in line (Job Frederick & Aedra) Empty Re: Waiting in line (Job Frederick & Aedra)

Post by Felicity 30th December 2013, 5:28 am

There are certain days during a summer in the country of Fiore, when the sidewalks melt with heat. On these days, the sun transforms itself from a gentle, warm orb to a menacing, white-hot inferno which hangs just low enough in the sky to scorch everything in its view. The sky transforms into a pale, listless blue; a blue that's faded and worn. There is no sign of a breeze. Yet, somehow, small clouds of red dust drift, swirl and dance like ancient spirits; they float quietly reminding all in their path that nature has long ruled this bustling country.
The streets are deserted of movement. Life is still. Most citizens would have retreated inside, thankful for the technology that birthed iced tea. An occasional, fat bumble bee will be seen assaulting a wilting flower. Across the street, a lone, rust-colored representative of the canine population will scamper over heat-softened blacktop in search of a cooler place. From the sun-bleached, white house on the corner, an amber tomcat will pour himself across the back steps. He'll sleep deeply - as far as tomcats can - dozing with one eye closed and the other focused on a scrawny, obnoxious blue jay that's flitting nearby. The old ones of the town usually respect such days. They know the power of the heat. They understand how it induces sleep and prolongs gentle conversation. They know it causes ordinarily busy people to move ever-so-slowly; they know it's wrath.
However, today was indeed very contrasting.
In front of the young, purple-haired woman; laid a perpetually seething mass of people; from wide arrays of life and a thousand social styles. It was a typical queue, a very important queue though. It made all of these people to constantly scrutinize their watches and jostling for position and attention. Necks straining to catch a glimpse of the counter to check that the Passports would still be available when they finally arrive at the head of the queue.
The thing was, Fiore's Magic Council had opened up the gates of travels to other parts of the world in which they lived. Now the people were not supposed to be cramped in this teeeny-meeny mass of land that they called a country. They were free to travel to their heart's content.
Aedre wished to do exactly the same and thus ended up standing in this perpetually never ending of a queue.
She had been bored out of her mind for the last half an hour or so; not being able to see anything that could be called even remotely fascinating.
Until, she became aware of a pair of eyes that were transfixed on her. It seemed she had managed to catch the attention of a noble-looking man. Even with a regal and quite normal looking attire, there was something out-of-the-way with him; atleast in Aedre's eyes.
The woman simply returned back his gaze for a second or two, before acting to look elsewhere while still keeping an eye out... just in case....
It was quite some time before Aedre found herself interested in the strange man once again, as he stood in front of the counter. The Rune Knight who sat on the other side gave him a suspicious look, "Um, Sir... I'm sorry but are you here on your own? Alone? To get your passport?" he started, but was immediately silenced as Aedre pulled out of the queue and stood right in front of the counter; all in a matter of seconds.
"Nah, he's not." she stated rather suddenly, a reassuring grin adorning her lips, that just seemed to face the whole external world for an instant and then concentrated on the other person with an irresistible prejudice in his favor.
    "And you are...?"
    "His Guildmate." she replied bluntly.
"Okay. So which Guild are you both from?" the man questioned, while taking up a pen in his hand and starting to fill out a form.
Before answering, Aedre made a fleeting eye contact with the man beside her and spoke, "Lamia Scale."
The Knight looked up from his desk, "Isn't Lamia Scale destroyed?"
"Unfortunately, yes. Though it doesn't mean that we can't be members, right? Actually... we're still looking for a new guild." the woman lied easily, a lie concealed very brilliantly.
"So can I see your Guild Insignia's? For security purposes, you know?"
"Er... They disappeared. The exact moment the Guild was destroyed."
Aedre had lied once again, but this time she wasn't so sure herself. There was a high chance that she'd get caught. High chance that the Knight knew the ways of Magical Guilds; knew that Guild Insignia's never disappeared this easily.
The Knight made a disappointing sound by clicking his tongue, before speaking, "There's no helping it then, huh? Names, please?"

Waiting in line (Job Frederick & Aedra) Empty Re: Waiting in line (Job Frederick & Aedra)

Post by Godlike Frederik 1st January 2014, 2:06 pm

To Frederick's surprise the young girl that he had noticed before, appeared once again when he was standing front of the Rune Knight clerk. Who was reluctant on giving him his passport. Even now that Frederick appeared as a normal upperclass man, his social skills weren't. His years of bitterness and shrouded in the darkness had made him into a man who always talked with a cold and monotone voice. Not that it was unnatural, but people knew upon hearing his voice. That he wasn't just a person that was trying to find his luck in an other country.

So as the desk clerk started to get suspicious Frederick was about the grab him by the throat, and retrieve a passport through a method he knew that always worked. Through sheer force.
But even before he could do that, the young girl as mentioned earlier came to his rescue. And made sure Frederick didn't had to resolve to violence to get what he wanted.
She bluntly told the Rune Knight a lie, to which the Rune Knight raised more questions. But the answers that the girl gave him were sufficient enough, and eventually for their names.

'Frederick Corbyn.. from Clover Town.' replied Frederick reluctantly. He didn't like giving his entire name and definitely not where he was truly from. After all, they could find a link back to his past. And till now nobody truly knew who he was, not that he used be someone special. No he used to be just another young man who lived on the old wealth of his family. Just another noble that enjoyed and indulged himself in to the ball room festivities.

After Frederick and his apparently temporary ally had given their names to the Rune Knight, the clerk walked away towards a room in the back to fetch their pass ports. In the meantime Frederick took the chance to observe the young girl.
The first thing he noticed was her long purple hair, well not entirely purple. It was more against a blueish kind of color then actual purple. Her clothes on the other hand were nothing special. Just an ordinary attire, probably to feel comfortable in them. She was probably somewhere around the age of eight teen, but looked older then that. More mature and adolescent then an actual teen.

'I figure you took this opportunity to get yourself a passport without arousing any suspicion on yourself. So tell me, why is it that you needed me as an excuse to get that'

"I figure you took this opportunity to get yourself a passport without arousing any suspicion on yourself. So tell me, why is it that you needed me as an excuse to get that?"
The man questioned, his voice; a monotone symphony. However, his question made the woman's lips curve into a smirk, "Excuse? Nah, it was just a way of getting ahead in the line.... Besides its a nice way of giving Grandpa's men some trouble." Aedre stated, while hinting to her origins, not minding if the man will take it seriously or not.
She did find him a little strange though, like there was some layer of impenetrability in the air around him. His attire and his personality seemed to be miles away; they weren't actually supposed to be combined in a single person. The way he appeared at the moment, Aedre would expect a vociferous and outspoken individual to reveal himself. One who had his money and reputation as his Achilles heel. Instead, he was one enigmatic person who certainly possessed a few tricks up his sleeve. His face caused a shabby, faded memory to flash in her mind and this memory did fit perfectly with his first name, Frederick. Though, Aedre understood that it could just be a fake one. Cause if the man was really hiding something from the Magic Council or the Rune Knights, he had every reason to lie. But then again, Aedre's assumptions could be wrong; no matter how good her peception usually is and then this man would turn out to be some puny thug or something.
However, the Slayer did ponder on why she found him familiar. Ususally, it was the other way round and she always pointed out her family to be the reason of the familiarity with certain people. Afterall, the Crawford family did have its roots deep down into the political and social life of Fiore.
She looked back, "Frederick Corbyn, is it? I think I've heard that name before... Nevermind, which Guild are you actually from?" Aedre threw a question at him, which would have sounded very casual in normal circumstances and to a normal person. But how it would fare with the man in front of her?
Just then a shout followed by a loud, disappointed grunt echoed around, "Leave me alone! All of you!" The burly man spoke, as a couple of Rune Knights handcuffed him. "We suspect that you're part of the Dark Guild, Night Parade. We have to interrogate you now." One of the Knight justified, as they took him away.
Aedre watched with an amused smile, she felt bad for the accused man, but at the same time it wasn't pity. After all, he could have used wits and escaped that fate.
"Damned Knights. Seriously, I just need to end their miserable lives one day..." Aedre stated in a very normal voice, before turning her gaze to Frederick, "...Right?"
Till now she had figured out that the man in front of her just won't mind her remark about the knights. If anything, he probably wanted to do the same.

"Damned Knights. Seriously, I just need to end their miserable lives one day... Right?"
The way how she said her last sentence triggered something inside Frederick's head, and when she turned her head to gaze directly at him he knew. The way she spoke of something like that so casually and the look in her eyes that penetrated his. She already figured out that he wasn't an ordinary person like the rest of the filth that massed around here, but even though they both knew that they weren't the exact people that they pretended to be. There still was one question, were they enemies? Did she pried into Frederick so that he would confirm her thoughts on him and was it because she was interested? Because she could easily have an entirely different agenda, she could be very well an enemy of the dark guilds. Especially Savage Skull, after all the guild was known for it's past deeds.
Well there was only one way to find out.

'They can be quite a nuisance indeed...'
He replied with his monotone voice while he gazed back into her eyes, trying to unfold which truth laid behind them.
'But if one would be interested in such macabre actions, then I figure that person couldn't do it all alone... after all the rune knights are with may'

"They can be quite a nuisance indeed..." Frederick replied, his voice sounding as montone and cold as possible. It seemed this was really the way he communicated with other people. He looked like the person who had cut himself from wordly bondages long ago and somehow learnt to live in this way. In Aedre's opinion; one of the most flawless ways to keep a low profile and still manage to pass under the noses of the Magic Council. The ones that had the habit of making their ways into other people's life; making rules for no apparent reason. Aedre did have every reason in thsi world to hate them with all her heart. God, she even cursed herself to be part of a family which worked under the beck and call of this same Council. Heck, they were part of the ones running it.
"But if one would be interested in such macabre actions, then I figure that person couldn't do it all alone... after all the rune knights are with may."
    'What is he hinting at?'
Apparently, there's only one way to find out.
"Agreed. That's why a search for a Guild goes on. One that might help me accomplish this goal. Its a very interesting concept actually... The very thought of trying to oppose the Council is desirable for someone like me."
The purple haired woman spoke, giving away her thoughts and mindset honestly. At the worst, this man would turn out to be some sort of spy and maybe let the Knights know about this.
Then, sadly for him, it'll be a fruitless attempt against a member of the Crawfords. That last name really helped at times like this.

There it was, the very indication that Frederick needed from this girl. That she was looking for a place that stood opposite from the Magic Council and their wretched Rune Knights. And luckily for her Frederick knew of such a place. He was after all it's master.
'Hmm interesting.. say girl do you crave power? Do you want knowledge even if it means that you need to gaze into the empty abyss of darkness itself? Would you be interested in such a place? Because then I just might have the guild you are looking for.'

Frederick would wait a few moments for Aedre to respond to his enigmatic and crypted way of speaking. Which was a must when you were surrounded by so many Rune Knights and Magic Council Officials, after all if Frederick was to be exposed to who he really was. Then that would mean that the Council would get to know that Savage Skull wasn't as much gone as they thought to be.
'So.. have you ever heard of Savage Skull'

"Hmm interesting.. say girl do you crave power? Do you want knowledge even if it means that you need to gaze into the empty abyss of darkness itself? Would you be interested in such a place? Because then I just might have the guild you are looking for."
Aedre perplexedly raised an eyebrow as Frederick spoke, her mind trying to contemplate the kind of person Frederick was. His way of speaking hinted at several clues at once, while at the same time refrained from giving out any valuable information. Just what kind of a person was this man?
"So.. have you ever heard of Savage Skull?"
Right there. The man had finally given out some information about him. His question proved that he was related to Savage Skull in one way or the other, which confirmed the purple haired woman's doubts. But yes, she did know about Savage Skull, an infamous Dark Guild that was etched in the pages of history since long. It had had its share of ups and downs; coming into the spotlight of Fiore every now and then.
The Slayer remembered hearing the name of this Guild even in her childhood, when she lived with her family. The memories were faded, but could still be worked with. Aedre even remembered of hearing about it when she came back among the company of humans; when Nero disappeared and she ended up in the cities. She wasn't really sure if the Guild even existed, but it had always managed to grab her attention. She knew that the Savages had tried to attack Magnolia and rain down destruction on the hometown of Fairy Tail, but had failed to do so. All thanks to the coalition among the Legal Guilds which simply left the Guild as a vague whisper in the dark.
"Of course. Who hasn't? But how are you related to it, Frederick? I don't think a noble from Clover Town should have anything to do with such a Guild." Aedre stated, trying to probe the answer out of the enigmatic man.

She took the bait, just as Frederick wanted to. Yet somehow he knew that Aedre was trying to lure out any information he had as well. Yet somehow this girl's interest in Savage Skull seemed different then those who wanted to spy on it. Better yet, she seemed rather searching for such place.
'You're right about that girl.. I am not just some noble. In matter let me introduce myself properly this time. My name is Lord Frederick, guild master of the darkest of guilds. I am Savage Skull's master.'

Frederick turned his back towards Aedre after he said that, and walked a few steps away from her. Just far enough so that he was still in hearing distance from her.
'You seem awfully interested in my guild... enough so that it looks like that you were looking for it. If so, I suggest you'll follow me.. I have a proposition for you'

"You're right about that girl.. I am not just some noble. In matter let me introduce myself properly this time. My name is Lord Frederick, guild master of the darkest of guilds. I am Savage Skull's master."
Expected... could be the right word after Frederick's revelation. It had already been quite obvious that the man wasn't some noble like he claimed to be. When he mentioned Savage Skull, the vague thought that he might be a member of that infamous Guild did come to Aedre's mind. But being its Master was a complete out-of-the-blue piece of information. For a second, a small once of fear ran inside her mind, for the realization that she was standing in front of a man who was undoubtedly on the epitome of his powers, naturally instilled uneasiness.
The man turned his back towards Aedre, walking a few steps away as he spoke, "You seem awfully interested in my guild... enough so that it looks like that you were looking for it. If so, I suggest you'll follow me.. I have a proposition for you"
Aedre's eyebrows arched up bemusedly and rather suddenly as well, she noticed how he never mentioned joining his Guild or anything. While that was what Aedre expected out of him. He was certainly hinting to something that might profit the young woman in some way; but there was a chance of it being some kind of a trap too.
Deciding to be optimistic about this, the Slayer had enough confidence in her abilities to believe that she could take care of herself if the need arises.
"Sure." She replied bluntly, following the man in disguise.
