-Capital Crocus, inside A Fighting Chance, 11:00 A.M.-

A day after his journey to the Neutral Grounds to obtain an iLac Leonidas now needed one last item before he could begin his career as a freelance mage... a decent weapon. He had heard about a weapons shop selling edged weapons in Capital Crocus named A Fighting Chance and decided to pay it a visit. He would not be able to buy anything fancy just yet thanks to his small budget, but perhaps he could find a decent weapon that was a compromise between affordable and effective.

Now he was standing inside of the shop. Wearing his white t-shirt, olive green green cargo pants, and black boots plus 4,000 Jewels contained in a bag in his right side cargo pocket, Leonidas stood out in part because of his stature and because he was the only customer in the shop. A Fighting Chance was a shop with a long wooden counter in the back of the shop with a cash register and old carpet of a color that might have been green once beneath Leonidas' feet. Scattered around the shop were eight locked reinforced glass cases containing edged weapons of several different types. Two cases were dedicated to knives, two were dedicated to shortswords, two were dedicated to longswords, and another two were dedicated to other weapons like maces and axes.

Leonidas had used swords a lot during his time in Desierto. He had fended off many a bandit raid and slaver raid with a sword in his hand and was fond of the weapon. Even though he would probably be better off getting his hands on a pistol as quickly as possible his budget did not allow him to get one just yet, so until he had saved up enough money he would stick to swords. Leonidas had plenty of experience with using that weapon type and he could get a lot of mileage out of a good sword until he could acquire a pistol or other firearm.

Leonidas browsed at one of the weapons inside the first case of longswords and spotted a silver falchion sitting at the back of the case. It had a pronounced single cutting edge and an octangular pommel. The weapon looked to be in decent condition, but Leonidas would have to be the judge of that.

"Hey mister, lookin' to buy a sword?" A male voice asked. Leonidas looked left and saw a tall man roughly his height and possessing roughly the same muscle mass as he did. The man wore a white tank top and blue jeans and was bald. He had black stubble on his face.

"Yes. I'm interested in the silver falchion in this display case." Leonidas answered and pointed towards the case in question with his right index finger. The man smiled.

"You expectin' to take on werewolves or somethin'?" The shop owner inquired in a casual manner.

"I'm sure I'll encounter them at some point. That's why I'm interested in buying this weapon." Leonidas confirmed the man's guess. The man smiled again.

"That's good thinkin' plannin' ahead like that, mister. Best to get somethin' that can hurt them before ya need it." The shop owner commented on his choice of weapon. He pulled a golden key out of his back right pocket and walked over to the display case indicated by Leonidas, then walked to the back and unlocked the case. He carefully removed the silver falchion and closed the back of the display case, then locked it again. The shop owner walked to the wooden counter in the back of the shop and went behind it, then rang up the purchase on his cash register.

"That'll be 4,000 Jewels, mister." The man said. Leonidas pulled out his bag of Jewels and handed it to the man. The burly shop owner opened the bag and counted out the Jewels, then put them in the cash register and handed the bag back to Leonidas. He then pushed the weapon towards Leonidas.

"The sword's yours now, mister." He said before bending down behind the counter and placing an empty scabbard on the counter beside the sword. Leonidas put the empty Jewel bag back into his pocket and picked up both the sword and the scabbard the man thoughtfully provided.

"The scabbard comes with the sword, so there's no extra charge." The owner informed him. Leonidas put his new silver falchion in its scabbard and faced the shop owner.

"Thank you for your help today." Leonidas thanked the man for helping him. The man smiled.

"No problem, mister. Come back any time ya need another weapon. I'll be waitin' for ya." He said. Leonidas turned around with his new weapon in its scabbard and walked towards the exit of A Fighting Chance. Now that he had a weapon he was ready to go take some challenging jobs to start earning decent pay in order to save up for a better house for himself. With the silver falchion he had just purchased he felt ready to take on any challenge.
