Halloween Tricks & Treats - Seasonal Mini Event Og3Y33H

    Mini-Event

As the warmth of summer gives way to the chill of autumn, another celebration approaches. The occasion is the changing of seasons as well as Halloween, that time of the year where tricks and treats abound. Both are plentiful at this festival, so come join the fun!

Halloween Celebrations are held all over Ishgar. Participants may wear costumes if they want, but doing so is not mandatory to participate in the event. Characters completing the fall celebrations in costume, however, will receive a little surprise~.

    Completion Requirements

As you take part in the activities and complete them you receive a large, coin-sized single kernel of candy corn handed to you by event staff. In order to complete the event, you or your group must have at least three kernels from completing different activities. Once you have collected the required number and reached the group word count requirement the Event thread may be handed in.

When an activity requires a roll, rolling a Normal Dice is mandatory to successfully complete the activity. Players may choose which activities to participate in. If an activity requires no roll, Players may choose the outcome of the activity.

Players may participate in the event in groups of 1-6. The word count per Player is set at 2,000 Words. Total word count is calculated additively, i.e. the more Players join an Event thread, the higher the total group word count they must reach (e.g. 4,000 words for 2 Players, 6,000 words for 3 Players, etc.). Bear in mind that the word count of all Players contributes to the total group word count of the Event thread, meaning that Players still have a chance to complete the event if one of the group members is unable to meet their part of the word count.

    Location

    Any Town or City

    Deadline

    December 12th, 10am EST

    Activities

The activities you can find below may be completed in order to successfully complete the Event

    Costume Contest:

Halloween is the prime time to wear costumes, and this festival has a costume contest. Party-goers of all ages are welcome to participate, the contest accomodating different age categories for its participants. Do you think you have the best costume in your age group? Participate in the contest and find out!

No dice roll is required for this activity. Participants get one candy corn kernel for participation.

    Halloween-Punch Sampling:

No party is complete without refreshments and this Halloween party has plenty to offer. If you want something to drink, come by the Halloween Punch stand and grab free a cup of punch. But beware... some cups might contain tricks that are played only when the punch is consumed!

This activity must be rolled for using one Normal Dice. Participants get one candy corn kernel.

    1. You drink the punch... and nothing happens! It is actually quite tasty.

    2. You drink the punch and it tastes absolutely awful! What on Earthland did they put in it?

    3. You drink the punch and your hair turns frightfully white! This new hair color lasts until the end of the party. Characters whose hair is already white are unaffected.

    4. You drink the punch and the world suddenly appears in your eye color! Green-eyed people see the world as green, blue-eyed people see the world as blue, etc. This new view of the world lasts until the end of the party.

    5. You drink the punch and your voice suddenly goes up a few octaves! This higher pitch lasts until the end of the party.

    6. You drink the punch and something really odd happens! The random cosmetic effect is up to the player, but it should last until the end of the party.

    Pumpkin Carving Contest:

Pumpkins have been associated with Halloween since who knows when and what better way to use them than in a carving contest? In this contest you will be given a knife and a pumpkin. You will have thirty minutes to carve a pumpkin into a work of art. At the end of the contest judges will come to each area and judge the quality of each pumpkin in the contest, so do your best!

No dice roll is required for this activity. Participants get one candy corn kernel.

    Trick-or-Treat-Street:

In this activity, participants get a bucket and go down a specially marked street going door-to-door to ask for candy. The neighborhood is well-lit and safe, so the only concern participants should have is how much candy they can get. Will you get a lot of treats or will you just get tricked?

Players are encouraged to come up with details for the neighborhood, the candy, and any other relevant details.

Participants must roll one Normal Dice. Participants get one candy corn kernel.

1 or 2: The locals were generous with their candy. You received more than enough to go on quite the sugar rush!

3 or 4: While you did not get quite as much candy as you would have liked to get, you still received enough for a decent haul.

5 or 6: The locals were... not very generous, to put it lightly. You either received very little candy or you received boxes of raisins or other less-than-desirable items. You will have to find another way to get some Halloween candy.

    Test of Courage:

This activity takes place at the end of a haunted maze that participants must navigate through. The maze itself is a standard Halloween-themed maze with no special gimmicks, but what lies at the end is much more challenging. At the end of the maze is an entrance to an area labeled "The Test Of Courage".

The entrance to the Test Of Courage has a special gate that disables the magic of any mages who enter it and they must go all the way through it while facing their worst fears. These fears are given form by the magic inside the test area. The illusions projected cannot actually hurt participants, but they are so realistic that they can easily induce fear in all but the bravest challengers. Can participants rise to the challenge and pass the Test Of Courage?

Players are encouraged to come up with details of the Test Of Courage such as the inside, the illusions, and any other relevant details. Once participants complete the Test Of Courage their magic is restored to them regardless of the outcome.

No dice roll is required for this activity. Participants get one candy corn kernel.

    Fortune Telling:

Would you like to get some idea of what the future holds for you? If you do, be sure to pay a visit to the Fortune Teller's tent for a free reading! Just be sure that you want the reading because you may or may not like the answer you get...

Players are free to come up with details like the appearance of the tent, the appearance of the fortune teller, and what their fortune is.

No dice roll is required for this activity. Regardless of what their fortune is, participants receive one candy corn kernel.

    Uninvited Guest:

Every party tends to attract uninvited guests and this one is no exception. For this activity, players must contend with a party-crasher that is a lot different from the garden-variety one. While they might have shown up uninvited, the fortune teller that runs a booth at the party has predicted their arrival and an event coordinator is on hand with a spell that sends both the participating player and their opponent to a specifically prepared arena dimension. In this dimension, the players can fight their opponent without fear of causing collateral damage or endangering innocent lives, so they need only focus on defeating the Uninvited Guest.

The details of the arena dimension are up to the players.

The Uninvited Guest's stats and abilities are tailored to the rank of the highest-ranked player fighting it (Up to H Rank), possessing player stats equal to those of the highest-ranked player in the thread, their abilities and magic dealing damage equal to an advanced spell of the same rank as the highest-ranked player. When the Uninvited Guest is defeated participants instantly return to the real world and appear back at the party.

Participants must roll one Monster Dice. Participants receive one candy corn kernel upon successfully defeating the Uninvited Guest.

    Weak:
Dollarsaavy: Normally this creepy clown likes to hang out near sewer grates and drag in unsuspecting prey by their ankles, but tonight he is being a little more proactive and has emerged from the sewers to go on the hunt. Dollarsaavy has found you and now wants to add you to his list of victims. He will come after you with a wide range of creepy circus tricks and props intended to wear you down until you are too confused to fight back.

    Normal:
Vigor Mortis: Coming from parts unknown, this undead dance troupe is a group of zombies who can move with pep in their step. They move as gracefully as any human dancer and demonstrate almost impeccable coordination in their dance routines. Their leader is a zombie who is dressed in a distinctive outfit that is different from the rest of the troupe and can speak human languages normally and clearly.

Like any zombie horde, Vigor Mortis relies on group tactics and teamwork to take down their target. Unlike the average horde, individual members can dodge attacks with human speed and finesse. They can also work as well-coordinated teams no matter how many of them are in a team.

Vigor Mortis' members can be all-male, all-female, or a combination of male and female depending on player preference. The size of the group, outfits of the regular troupe members, and the troupe leader are also up to player preference.

    Strong:
Fredrik Kruwer: Armed with a bladed glove on his left hand and the ability to conjure ghastly apparitions to aid him in battle, this badly burned man in a striped, long-sleeved shirt and dark pants is a living nightmare. He moves with frightening speed and frequently uses his apparitions as distractions while he moves in for melee attacks. Fredrik's melee attacks can cut through armor and magical shields while his apparitions can temporarily numb the limbs of their targets with an otherworldly chill, making it hard for them to fight or free from Fredrik.

    Boss:
The Headless Horseman: Riding straight out of legend and right into the town you are partying in, this headless rider on horseback is looking for a new head. He has decided that your head will make a good replacement and he will not take no for an answer. Using fire magic, shadow magic, and even throwing pumpkins at the player, The Headless Horseman will not be an easy fight.

    Rewards

Players of D Rank and C Rank receive EXP of a rank higher than their own. Players ranked B and A will receive EXP equal to their own rank. Players ranked S and higher receive 100y EXP.

Experience modifiers do not apply to this event.

Players who complete the event in Halloween costume will receive one Festivity Gold Coin, which may be utilized for a special purpose at a later date. Players who successfully complete the event will also receive the following item:

A human skull that is magically animated and capable of speech, it is meant to be a companion and early warning system to its owner. Abilities:

    Name: Early Warning
Rank: User Rank (Up to C)
    Category: Auxiliary
    Type: Passive
Description: The Talking Skull alerts its owner to incoming danger by chattering its teeth whenever it detects danger in a 30-meter radius, making it particularly useful for the adventurous types in possession of this magical item. Unfortunately for the owner, its teeth chatter so hard that it cannot give a verbal warning about the kind of danger that is approaching. The user is also fortunate in that the skull grants them a user-rank passive increase to either their HP, MP, or SP, which must be picked when registering this item. Still, any warning is better than no warning at all, right?
